PhilippinesReporting marriage in Phil Consulate in US

The marriages of CR-1ers are already registered in the Philippines because they got married in 'Pinas.

K-1ers are not required to report their marriage to the Embassy of the Philippines in the U.S. unless the K-1 beneficiary wants to renew their Philippines passport.

Not all CR-1ers are married in the Philippines, could get married in any country the two can travel to and the benificiary returns to the Philippines for processing.

There are more filipinos in Columbus than you think. There are two groups TOPAS and PASCO which have events throughout the year and once you get in a group you will see that your social circles expand. There is also a filipino restaurant, La Herba Buena in the Dublin center that you can visit and the owner can probably hook you up with contact information.

I have just been in for my biometrics to remove my temporary status. I originally filed to remove my temporary status early and had it returned to me, saying it i had to file within the 90 days of my green card expirying. No other issue, was in and out in 20 minutes, although waited 20 minutes in the snow, waiting for them to open the doors.
good luck, if you have any questions i would be glad to help. My appointment was for 8am at milwaukee service center.

I called NVC this morning. Today is Day 17 since NVC received our petition, and guess what...the damn thing is still there. I did have a nice CSR who did say that the processing is complete, we are not stuck in name checks, and that it is in the mailroom awaiting dipatch to the Embassy. She also said that it can take 4 weeks to be sent out. That sounds freak'n crazy to me, I haven't found a single timeline for a Ukrainian K-1 taking that long at NVC when it is finished with processing. I did ask if they are sent in batches, and she told me that they do not send individual cases to the Embassy. Why do they even bother sending a letter saying it will be sent out within a week?

So, I guess we wait until next Wednesday and I'll call at the 3 week mark and see if it has been sent. At this rate I guess I can expect them to send it by ocean liner, camel and horse to Kyiv and add about an additional month of transit time.

Etripke,
No need to wait for embassy to send info packet---have your girl download it from embassy site. I had my lady do this as soon as we learned KEV# , so we had everything ready and assembled when they finally scheduled her interview. Medical and other documents are good for a year----be sure to tell her to get a copy of her medical exam for YOUR records. Our illustrious DHS cretins lost Nataly's exam somewhere between JFK and our AOS application. She had to go to a CS here for a complete new medical exam. Interview in Kiev was VERY easy---they only asked her one question.

We've done that thanks smile.gif Everything is ready for her, all organized in binder, just need to send updated financials and schedule medical. Just out of curiosity, why did it take so long for your fiancee's interview?

Thanks.

I am going to call them again on this Friday to see if it has been sent (we hope so, it's been there since the 22nd of August). Since we have the case number is it permitted to go forward with the Medical soon?

E,

I have told you thousands of times... Why don't you listen to me... crying.gif

The medical can be done in a matter of days and and since Lena is in Kiev she can do it at anytime, but the KEV # is all that is required by the clinic to do the medical.. by all means, have Lena call the clinic and schedule if she so desires.

Ok, ok, I got it that time. Sorry.

They completely ignored the question of can we do this now or do we have to wait. I see that the medical is good for one year, but obviously, we don not expect the process to take that long.

Quick POE review/experience. Landed at Chicago O'Hare. Got to Customs/Immigrations. An officer directed US citizens to one line, immigrants/visa holders to another line. I asked the officer about K-1 visa holders, he directed my fiancee' to a line. He told me by all means, certainly accompany my fiancee'. I was happy that I didn't have to ask. Waited to together in line for about 5 minutes. Got the next available immigration officer. Karolina gave her the sealed envelope from the embassy. Officer looked at them, asked us 3 questions:
1) How did you meet?
2) To Karolina: Do you have any children?
3) When is the wedding date?
After sorting through to make sure all the documents were there, she said "Welcome To America" and sent us on our way. 10 minutes total time. Grabbed our luggage from the carousel, ran through the scanner, out the door we went. No problems at all. Very fast, efficient, professional. good.gif

I called NVC yesterday and was told we were received on Wednesday the 22nd. I now have our KEV number, and when I asked if it had been forwrded to the Embassy was told it is still in "Administrative Processing". This of course didn't sit well with me and I did a bit of searching here about this. From what I gather, everyone goes through it. I guess there seems to be some variation of thought on "Admin Processing vs. Admin Review" as some say they are the same, others say they are different. In any case I'm keeping an open mind to it, and read later that they do not assign Embassy case numbers if it is being held up for some reason.

Any of you guys heard this .....Jon? .....Master of the VJ Ukrainian Information Center??

In any case Lena and I are VERY pleased to have the Embassy number. I see that AP/AR has become fairly common for the Russian Fiancees or anyone who has previous K-1's. Neither of us fall into that catagory.

Eric

AP is something every case file goes through... I relate this to a checklist that needs to be completed... The $100K question is what are the items on the checklist... Do they do name checks on the USC? on the beneficiary? else? If the USC is a law enforcement type does it slow it down? What if the alien fiance(e) had some sort of high powered job in some sort of sensitive area (military, nuclear, else) what if any effect does that have on the speed of completing the checklist.... I do not know. It seems most case files clear in 7-10 days for people filing for beneficiaries in Ukraine.

E, if I were a betting man I would bet your case file is completed and processed by the end of the week... I would expect that you should be able to contact the call center and schedule your interview on about Sep 10 and Lena could have her interview on or before Oct 15th...

Thanks Jon, I'll call NVC on Friday and see where things are at. I hope and pray you're right about the interview I'd really like her to be here by Thanksgiving.

Hey a question regarding the SSN. Is it better to wait until after Marriage to apply? This way would avoid the name change situation later. Any thoughts? Wisconsin doesn't require a SSN for the Marriage license.

While it shouldn't matter when you apply for the SSN (as long as it is BEFORE day 76 after her arrival in the country). There have been stories that the name change gives the SSA incredible "heartburn' because it no longer matches what is in the system. Bite the bullet and do it before. Anyways you need to go back to SSA when AOS is approved informing them of change in immigration status, so do the name change then....

Ok, sounds good. I knew I'd get a reply from you...you haven't let us down yet.

Ok maybe I understand you now. You basically were stating you were at the airport at the same time.
And that you were in terminal C versus B like me. What airline did you fly out of?

Something had to be up with Passport control as I overheard one of the guys mentioning the "Lack" of K1 Visas on this trip.
I took it as if they usually got more then the 4 or 5 that I saw, and that was it. I could not hear more then that, maybe they were talking about the previous issues as you mentioned above.
T

Exactly, I was in Terminal C. I knew you were flying out then from your previous posts, and was actually hoping I might see you. Anyway, my previous visits had been through the "Gauntlet" in Terminal B with the line cutting, and standing in line forever. FWAGUY recommended the VIP service and it was worth every bit of the $105 U.S. I spent. I will have Lena and her daughter go that route as well.

I flew out on KLM via Amsterdam to Detroit (POE) and onto Madison. I'll probably have Lena and daughter fly KLM to Amsterdam and then direct into O'Hare since it is the closest to home, and I can drive down to meet them. I burned up my vacation for 2007 already, otherwise I would love to fly with them.

Well.....this smart ###... :) I mean person did just that. I just didn't know if they would accept the Bank Letter and Employer letter dated July 6th when we didn't get the approval for another month.

Also, do you think just my 2006 return with W-2 would be enough? She has that as well as 2004/2005 IRS Transcripts, but since my Ex is on those, I'd rather not give them even with my W-2's for those years.

Assemble two financial packages... A primary package with just the 2006 information & I-134 and then a second package of all the other stuff... Have her present only the primary package..... On the cover sheet of my primary package I noted that information pertaining to other years was available upon request...

BTW, the older info was not requested.....

I gave my financial documents (or at least 90% of them) including the I-134 almost 5 mos. before her interview. The balance went over almost 2 mos. prior. I think you could do it at anytime when you have them ready to go.....

A smart person would have brought over the I-134 and any other documentation that is not subject to change on there latest visit to his future wife and then could have simply have e-mailed a .pdf of anything else to finish up the package. :)

That was VERY interesting. Just an FYI I just came back from 28 days over there in the Kyiv region, and we were at the Airport at the same time BCarter! I paid the extra $$ for the VIP service however (Terminal C), so I didn't see you at Terminal B.

Anyway, early last week in Kyiv, the news (Ukrainian Channel #1 I think) had a story about counterfeit US Visa's being found on passengers coming into the US. They had arrested a Ukrainian and a Turk (I believe) for selling them for prices up to US $20,000 Apparently is was news worthy over there, but I have not read or heard anything about it since arriving home. I would imagine for the future many Ukrainians with Visas will be checked out extensively. This would jive with no questions, they were probably just insuring the Visa was legit.

Congrats on your success! Lena and I are looking forward to completing this process and this thread has been great with all of the information on it.

I did not realize that the Visa took that long from approval to on hand delivery. I was hoping to go in on Monday for the approval and fly out by Saturday. Staying in Kyiv is costing us around $70 a night just for the apartment. I spoke with Anna about the timeframe and she made a great suggestion.
After the interview on Monday we take a train back to Mariupol, gives me a chance to see Ukraine from the train. LOL But this will also save us approx. $550 USD by staying at her place while waiting for the Visa.
I will have to call Delta and see what the charges are for changing the flight once I have a good date.
Regards,
T.

I don't know if you've rode the trains in Ukraine yet. I won't give away the funny things about it. But it's something to experience! Unless you're going 1st class on the train, throw the thought of an Amtrak out the window! You'll laugh when you see how the toilets flush in coach!

Travel by train to any country of the former union - really huge experience :help: , but you with the favourite person then try some moments to make for you two more romantic then (L) , it is possible you to see, the main thing in Ukraine.
I am very glad, that my favourite person (L) see in Ukraine, the main thing and accepts many tests with a smile,
I from Ukraine therefore, can give advice - buy tickets for a train at once a full compartment (4 places) and be ready to experience!

I'll be there on July 9th, and on July 10th My fiancee and I will travel overnight by train to the Carpathians for a little over a week. It should be an experience to remember from what she has told me. It will also be my first experience at a Sanatorium (The health type to you Americans....NOT a Sanitarium i.e Mental Institution here in the States) although in dealing with this prolonged and painful process I suppose I could end up in one of those as well. :)

George, What day did you actually call for the interview?

I called Memorial Day evening/night about 2:00 AM EST from Michigan. That would make it 9:00 AM Tuesday morning in Kiev, the day after Memorial Day, May 29. I gave him the KEV number I received from NVC in N.H Friday the 25th. He asked if all was completed from the KEV-1 checklist, and I assured him it was.

He asked when I wanted the interview. I said the earliest possible date, so he set it up for the morning of July 3. He gave me a confirmation number, a specific time, and said my fiancee should appear 15 minutes early.

As I noted earlier, he wanted the English spelling of my fiancee's name from her international passport. So I called back that evening to give the correct spelling, and had to pay another $12. :(

All in all, the procedure was quick, efficient, courteous, and painless!

George

For $12 I would hope he's courteous :) Seriously that is a good tip though, sounds like they are 4-5 weeks behind on the interviews although I have heard of another coming in about 3 weeks or so.

Thanks Bro,

Appreciate the quick response. I am still straightening the Divorce Certificate mess out, but should have it fixed by weeks end.

Also, I know that they are saying that we need to send to Nebraska, but since September I believe everything goes to CSC. Come April, do you think I could just send it straight to CSC rather than NSC? I would imagine I will have to use the new form when it is available (That sucks as now I have to re-do it & print her information in cyrillic) and that form will have it switched to CSC.

I really do not expect it to change anytime soon but who really knows. Be interesting to see if they changed the instructions for filing locations on the new form when they finally publish it for good. I had the dang thing on my browser but did not save off.

Hey Guys, I was reviewing my Translations that I returned with last Friday, and noted that they do not have the exact wording on them that the USCIS recommends regarding the translator's English abilities. They just have the statement that they are true and correct translations from the Ukrainian Language into English, with the translators name, and the certifications.

Is this going to be an issue when submitted? Or, should I have my fiancee go back out and get the exact wording that the USCIS has on their website?

Thanks in advance

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NOA2 received

Now that I have the NOA2 in hand which we were approved July 27, got the paper on August 1st, how long is the waiting period to know if NVC has our petition? And once they have it, is there anything I should do then? I filed a K1 visa to have my fiance come here to get married.

So any help on this will be appreciated.

If this was for a fiance/ee visa give them about 2 weeks. Everything I have read on here is it can take that amount of time or longer (hopefully not) to reach them. The turn around time for them to send it to the embassy is pretty quick, it will not be in the automated system.

Does anyone know what the going time frame is at NVC Portsmouth? They claim that the going rate at this moment is up to four weeks. But we all know that these time frames that are posted, i.e., the Service Centers are not exactly accurate?

I am suprised that they are using NVC for name checks as last year alone they had 7 million false hits as the software being used is not very accurate. I do not understand the point of this. It is like a polygraph test, being that they are not accurate, they are not submisible in court. Not too mention after 9/11 the USCIS conducts a security check anyway and then another one at the Embassy.

On that note any info on the time frame for the London Embassy relative to appointments? Again we all know that the ones posted on official sites are not very accurate.

CHEERS!

Its usually only at the NVC for a couple days before being sent to the embassy, but it does take a week or so in transit between the NVC and the embassy its being sent to. That applies to K-1's. Spouse visas spend more time at the NVC.

To see what your interview wait look at the timelines on this site.

We've been there now for at least 3 weeks. I'm waiting to call this coming Wednesday, on the 5th week to see what is happening. They do tell you (USCIS & NVC) that normal processing time is 2-4 weeks. This was reinforced by my Congresswoman's office. It is such a drag.
