Pyrrhic just got off the phone with NVC. Our petition was received yesterday and they are processing it now.

This is taking much longer than I anticipated. Figured we might be getting a Packet 3 as soon as next week, but not likely now.

At this rate, I don't think we'll have our "ideal" wedding date either. *sigh*

20 Days....I am amazed at how all over the place these things are delivered. No consistancy at all, and I have wonder just how many "batches" they send a week. They must move them more than just a truck/mail load a week. Crazy stuff.

Does anyone know where we can look or call to find out if the embassy has received our case? Not that NVC has sent it, cause i already got that information. I'm strictly just looking for info once the embassy receives it.

I've been checking March filers and in almost all of there timelines, they include dates of when Embassy's have received it and what date they sent out packet 3. Where can i get this info?

I called NVC yesterday, they haven't received our papers yet. Guess I will wait until Wednesday next week and give them another call.


Well I guess that answers any of my questions for now since we have the same approval date. I hope it makes it there soon, the average is about 13 days, and we are close.

Called CSC again, still haven't been sent to NVC. I asked why and was told that they were very backlogged and that it could happen today or tomorrow. Gee, I think I'll hold my breath...


Thanks for the update Deron. I'll hold off on calling NVC for a bit. My guess is there may be a bunch of us on the same truck.

ok, i just called the NVC and after a three tries and a 10 minute hold, i got threw. He said, our file was recived by them on the 13th ( two days ago) and today (15th) they sent it out to the London Embassy.

So in fact if they got it in batches, im sure most of yours was sent out as well.

YAAAYY!! I have finally graduated to the big kids thread :)... i called today to check on my case status (since it still says pending online).. and it was APPROVED!! NOA2 finally!! :dance: :dance: I asked her how long it would take to get to NVC, and she said that they wait and send them in batches... so either this week or next week they will have it... *keeping my fingers crossed*

Why do you guys think it takes such different time for petitions to arrive to NVC? Seems like some arrive in 1 week and some in 3. Are they accumulated and mailed off in batches?

Exactly 14 days for your hardcopy to arrive after NOA2. Not too shabby. That would mean they had it probably within 10 days at the most. I'd be interested in knowing when they send to Manila to judge that timeline.

We hope we're not too far behind. Deron I'm really wanting to know when yours gets the interview, are you calling or is she?


I'll be calling to set the appointment, I'm also very curious as to our wait time. I wrote to the Ukraine member that just got a 9-26 interview, the timeline was updated only yesterday so I'm hoping they just called. I'll let you know. I was also told by a member who just got their Visa in Ukraine to call immediately after getting the KEV#, he got their appointment in about 45 days NOA2 to Interview.

So, I called USCIS today to see if my case had finally been sent to NVC. She said no but that she was going to send over a request right away to get it moving. I asked if it was reasonable to expect shipment today, she said yes. So I urge everyone who hasn't gotten to NVC yet, which is all NOA2's in August minus one thus far, to call using the RFE trick.


The 26th...was that Huskerkiev? If so he called and re-scheduled early last week. It was originally set for October 3rd. He lost some time inbetween so they're running about 45-50+ out as of a couple weeks ago.

we've had 4 touches already but no noa2 yet. we tried calling the csc yesterday but we couldn't get through to a customer service representative. what we heard are recorded voice telling us the same thing on what we read when we check online that case is still received and pending.

i have read in here to do that RFE trick when calling. can anybody please teach us how? :help:

Here I found it for you:

* 1 for English,
* 2 for main menu,
* 2 for reporting an issue,
* 4 for more evidence,
* then 2, 1,
* then entered our case number (with the WAC at the beginning, that is 922+10 digits).
* then it took us to a representative in the service center.

Try a search of the forum. It's all over here. You have to be Very close with all of those touches in the past week or so.

I followed MaRob's lead by calling yesterday (RFE) and was told i had been moved to the "FILE IN TRANSIT" status. Three hours later, I noticed a touch. I assume this came from the phone call. However, I got ANOTHER TOUCH this morning !!!! After sooooooo long (NOA1-Apr 24th) I finally see some activity on my case. Obviously, I'm encouraged, and hope to join all of you NOA2ers SOON !! "Here's Lookin At You Kids" :D

Just to keep everyone's hopes up... My NOA2 was 10-26. I just called the NVC once again today and was told that my case has already been received and left 11-21 for the consulate in Guayaquil. I had called NVC on 11-19 and at that point they said they hadn't received it, so... at least things seem to be moving really quickly through NVC.

I called NVC earlier today and they still did not have any record of my case. So I don't think mine has come and gone. In fact, it hasn't even come yet according to them. I really hope to hear some good news on Monday. Do they work on Saturdays? Congrats on your petition getting through so quickly.


kellyc - i understand how you are feeling. nvc still has not received our file either. this is so frustrating - after waiting so long for the noa2, i was hoping this part would go faster. csc says they show our approval as being 10-21, so its been about 35 days now that we have waited. and they can't tell me whether it's been sent or not either. grrr!!

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion about N-600 and passport
My wife took her oath yesterday so now begins our quest for passport(s). My stepdaughter is 14 and about to start high school. We need to get her a US Passport based on her being the child of a US Citizen. Unfortunately for us, Ukraine does not issue any type of divorce settlement paper when the divorce is mutual and agreed upon. In other words, my wife was granted custody based on her Ex's agreement and that was that. Her Ex did have to provide the appropriate permissions for my stepdaughter to immigrate, and also provided written documentation with notary indicating he was surrendering his parental rights so that I could adopt my stepdaughter for the purpose of citizenship.

We are of the belief that this will be enough for the passport. My wife's Ex has had NOTHING to do with his daughter since the divorce nearly 10 years ago, no cards, letters, or attempts at contact. He was VERY hard to find to get the documents we did from him and that was under the threat of having to pay for child support. I think that establishing this and providing taxes, school records, and a sworn affidavit from my wife regarding the lack of contact and inability to find her Ex, should hopefully be enough.

Anyone with tips or suggestions........?

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion about N-600 and passport
And that will be the path we seek later this year after my Wife's Oath. You could not have said it better.


The US passport is all the proof of US citizenship one ever needs. A child that became a US citizen based on the naturalization of a parent does not need a Certificate of Citizenship in order to get a US passport. Therefore, I consider the N-600 unnecessary and expensive for a paper that serves no real purpose.

has anyone tried to do an early biometrics appointment in milwaukee ???? our appointment is set fo next thursday and i cant get off work so i was going to take my wife down this thursday.but would like to hear if anyone else has tried at milwaukee field office wisconsin


Thursdays are slow there. We did our Bio last month on a Friday and I talked with a manager there and he said Mon/Tues are the busiest, so I would "think" that Thursday would work. Just make sure you have the appt letter and Identification.

That is correct, CSC is much faster and they are about 2 months ahead of VSC. Sometime, there are people who get approved way ahead of everyone else.

November still has a few people left to be approved, so January people have around 5-6 weeks left before you start seeing approvals.

Ah yes... I remember the 120+ day wait for K-1 approval through CSC while the 14 day approvals at VSC kept rolling in. It can be (it is) VERY frustrating. Not to mention all of the approvals for AOS that come without any interview where ours did not.

Gotcha, I filled out the form on 01/03/10 and it was not there then. In any case we received a letter from Nebraska Service Center yesterday informing my K-2 Step-daughter that she is good for another year with my wife's case# etc on it. I was not expecting that, especially from Nebraska, but I would assume we have our NOA-1 and should receive the I-797 soon. I'll update the list once I have that in hand.

What are H1b cases?


The H1B is the Non-Immigrant Worker Visa. These are more of a specialty Visa which brings in the higher educated workers to the US for jobs. They are valid for a 6 year period (usually) and since they play a roll in our economy they do have priority over any family based petition. They are accepted 180 days in advance of the of the new fiscal year (October 1st) and by the looks of it, are sent with pretty good timing to arrive right on April 1st and 2nd. There is a limit on how many of these the USCIS will accept, and it is first come first serve.

So, one could assume that they were slammed pretty good at the beginning of April. Add to the fact that these petitions can have the "Premium Processing" fee added, and that puts a 15 day deadline on the processing time for the petition. I think that it is reasonable to assume that they MUST prepare for the increase in receipt of petitons knowing that this is going to happen. I would speculate that they reassign personnel as needed and tackle the problem that way. What was noteworthy was the USCIS link I posted indicated they did do a count on the advanced degree petitions which is needed to be done for the cap. So, I guess they are working them and hopefully things will speed up a bit afterwards.

I know that many VJ'rs have been concerned about this slow down, myself included, but now I think this explains a lot (in my mind anyway) as to why the sudden stop. (lack of NOA1's for sure given they are swamped in the mailrooms)

The USCIS announced that as of today, April 3, 2007, they have received 150,000 cap-subject H-1B petitions and as such the H-1B cap has been reached. As such, the USCIS will use a random selection process for all cap-subject filings received on April 2, 2007, and April 3, 2007. In other words, no cap-subject case is safe and guaranteed of a spot!



USCIS indicates that it will reject all cases received on or after April 4, 2007. In light of the high volume of filings, USCIS will not be able to conduct the random selection for several weeks.


However, USCIS does not know how many of the 150,000 are cases for aliens with US-earned masters~{!/~} or higher degrees. The first 20,000 H-1B petitions for such aliens are exempt from any fiscal year cap. USCIS will make a future announcement regarding the final receipt date for these petitions.
