K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI'm in shock...and loving it

Here it is...4 months and 22 days later...and we have been approved. I sat staring at my computer screen for a good twenty minutes...not believing what I was reading. I was scared to get my hopes up, for fear that another axe would fall, telling me that it wasn't REALLY an approval...just some sick joke on the part of some sadistic government employees.

But, it's real. (yeah, i still had to call and verify it...can't be to sure)

What wonderful news! That's fabulous! Congratulations! Best of luck on the next steps ahead! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTeehee!

Ok, and excuse my ignorance, but help me to clarify something please. When you get your cheque back, and it gives you the number to check out the USCIS site and you go there and the message reads:
"Your I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) was received on August 16, 2006." - is that your NOA1 date? Or are we waiting for something else to determine the NOA1 date?

Mo,

I don't think there's anything ignorant about that question at all! It seems to me that most people are going by the date that they actually receive the NOA1 in the mail, but I don't think it really matters all that much. The paper NOA1 has the date of issuance typed on it, so you can go by the date you find online (should match the issuance date on the hardcopy) or the slightly later date when you get the hardcopy in the mail. Shouldn't be a difference of more than a few days. I think mine was dated the 10th. I received it in the mail on the 14th. :)

Incidentally, I just created a spreadsheet today for people filing with the CSC between 7/25 and 8/20. You're on it. I thought it would be good to track filing buddies in some sort of organized way. I'll post it soon. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling Buddies Sprdsheet for CSCers: July 25th-August 20th

You have to turn it into a jpg or gif in order for it to show up. Take a screenshot of your table and paste it into a picture editor. Then you can post it. Otherwise you need to put your table on a web site somewhere and provide a link to it for people to download.

Ooooooh...So THAT's how it works! O.K. I'll work on that tomorrow, then. Thanks! :)

Well, let's just give it a whirl...Does the attachment show up...?

Nope...Guess not. So, I guess anyone who wants the document should PM or email me for now. Eventually I'll try to put it into a format that can be posted, but I'm too worn out to do it for the moment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling Buddies Sprdsheet for CSCers: July 25th-August 20th
Hello fellow VJers...

I see that this site supposedly gives us the ability to post attachments...Is it really, really true? Has anyone ever tried it? If it works, I've got an Excel spreadsheet that I put together this weekend. It includes close to 40 of us who filed between July 25th and August 20th--people who will ultimately be processed by the CSC. Once I know if it's really true that I can post it as a document, I'll happily do so. In the event that it can't be posted in such a manner, I'm happy to send you a personal copy so that you can track filing buddy updates individually. Just PM me. :)

Back to waiting...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA-2 after 404 days!

Well this is going to make my next visit to her in September that much better. After 404 days (that's not a typo) we are finally approved.

My application was sent by CSC to VSC by mistake once and finally we are moving on.

I still think it's close to a record though.

Oh my! You poor dears!!! That is a royal screw up on USCIS's part! Delighted to hear they finally got their act together and approved you!!!! May the next portion of your journey go a heck of a lot faster!! Enjoy that trip in September! If anyone deserves to enjoy a trip overseas right now...YOU DO!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHere is the latest from USCIS regarding processing times...read it

This is the latest info the USCIS website regarding processing times. In a nutshell: we are still incompetent and unable to provide a better service. Thus from now on, we will just give the maximum procesing time so you don't complain for six months, once you do complain we will just change the times as we please. Again, unbelievable!!!!!

I don't even know what to say to this...except to note that it makes me feel queasier than I already felt. Bureaucracy is not a pretty thing...ever.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother End of the Road

Well folks, it must be break-up time. After 160 days of waiting, I received my NOA2 via email.

Unfortunately, last night we decided to end the relationship. We just can't get along for more than 10 minute intervals, and the stress of not knowing how this would turn out was just too much for both of us.

I thought I'd be celebrating today as one of the happiest days of my life. Now, I cannot stop crying.

drlewis - I know how you feel - BELIEVE me.

To all the rest of you, I pray that you do not meet the same fate as me. This has been one hell of a ride, and not one that I will ever make an effort to do again.

Thanks to all of you for answering dumb questions, listening to me ###### and moan, and just generally offering a friendly ear when needed. You guys rock.

I'm really sorry to hear your news...This must be incredibly distressing for you. If there's anything we can do, please let us know...We're here for you.
