K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Kirsten, I've been following your posts. Thanks for the best wishes. May I extend them to you as well.

I was in Paris from Sept 5th through the 13th and the weather was so beautiful. It was between 75 and 81 the whole time and the sun was out and shining on us. Cécile and I were in Montmarte the first 3 days and then we went to this Manor in Bréançon that was amazing. We spent the weekend there. The last 2 nights we spent in Montparnasse (I don't know if I'm spelling this stuff right) at another great hotel, l'hðtel Lenox (beautiful room, unlimited WiFi, amazing service, nice bar).

If you go back and you need some tips, let me know.

And thanks again.

Hey Barry!

Thanks for your return wishes. I sure appreciate them!

It sounds like you had a truly wonderful trip! I'm so pleased to hear it. I'd do just about anything to get back for a visit right about now! It's a little like heaven to hear something of YOUR travels! :)

Laurent lives in the 18th not all that far from Montmartre...maybe fifteen twenty minutes by foot. We used to go walking up there. He considers it his stomping grounds. I truly miss it.

Never been to Bréançon. Sounds delightful! I'd love to hear more sometime! I bet we could exchange some great information. Laurent and I have had some nice stays off the west coast of France. Do you like the ocean...?

Have a great night. And like I said, CELEBRATE!!! Cécile will be here soon now. :D

I didn't see where anyone got approved today. No NOA2's for Monday, September 18? :star:

I sure didn't see any. There's just one I saw for yesterday. Hope CSC isn't hitting a slow down again on K-1s. There wasn't tons over the weekend either...

Do us one favor...Please go to your "My Assistant" Link above, just below the "Embassy/USCIS Reviews" link in the VJ navigation bar at the top of the screen, and fill in your timeline. We need your info to be included in the stats that VJ compiles. It will help all of us to have a better idea of how and when things are being processed. Thanks!!! Having the information in your signature is great because we can access it so easily, but VJ can't compile it from there. :)

Bonne chance! I certainly hope things go more smoothly for you. Paris or Bust, eh?

P.S. If your fiance gets his convocation to the embassy in Paris before mine does, I'm just packin' it up and making a permanent move to Margaritaville :P

Completely understandable, Sleepless! Clearly you deserve to get your approval before me, and when you do, I'll be whooping it up for you. Thanks for the good wishes. You have mine, too, as you know.

Thanks, all of you! It feels a little silly, in a way, getting so excited about the NOA1. But it seems like you all understand. At least now I know someone WILL be looking at it eventually, right? I had to laugh and nod at William33's comment:

Well that makes you the next contestant in the "Waiting Game".

So true, so true...But I'm IN the game finally, and that feels like it makes all the difference today. I'll get more jaded tomorrow. At the moment I can't stop grinnin'... :D :D :D

Yippeeee!! I know it's just one of the very first steps, but I'm so glad to finally have a receipt number! Now I can finally obsess about touches with the rest of you! And believe me...I will obsess! :D

Not too bad, though, really. People told me to expect to wait up to a month to receive my NOA1. From the petition going in the mail to the notice arriving today, it was only two weeks. Hopefully that's an encouraging sign...I won't hold my breath, though. Don't worry. :)
Kirsten LNot TellingFrance2006-08-14 19:32:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThey CASHED the check!!!!!

Congratulations!

And I have a dumb but related question:
The number on the back of the cheque... I don't understand that unless I've been reading it wrong, do they send it back to you?

No, most banks don't send checks back now unless you don't use carbon-copy checks. But usually they do post images of them online once they've cleared your account. The only exception would be if the checks are handled by an automatic clearing house on behalf of the business that cashes them. But USCIS doesn't use one of those. So you should be able to get both front and back views automatically posted wth your account info. Do you bank online? If you do and your bank offers images of checks, you should be able to see, on the back view of the check you wrote to USCIS, a stamp of the receipt number they've assigned you. That's the number you're going to use to check your status online. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI THANK I AM DREAMING

resealed this E mail at 2:00 PM to day from NVC. Good afternoon Your inquiry has been received at the NVC. The clearances for this case continue to be processed by all involved Washington agencies. Unfortunately, no further information is available at this time. The NVC will send notification once the results have been received and the case forwarded to the assigned US Consulate General

PISSED :) after three and a half month. So I called NVC and I all most fell OVER when she said your petition left here to day B) B) B) . Out of the black hole Wow.

You guys are the greatest...and I mean that. I feel a lot calmer now. Momentary freak out is over. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. Phshew! :D

What would I do without you people...? Accidentally jump off a cliff in a state of extreme panic? Yup, that sounds pretty likely...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForgot my fiancé's parents' DOBs...RATS!
OK...I found my first goof-up. I was just filtering through my packet to find something else when I noticed that somehow Laurent's parents' dates of birth didn't get entered into his G-325A. DANG, DANG, DANG!!! Is there any way I can head this one off at the pass? Or do I have to wait to get an RFE about it? I would much rather get this taken care of ahead of time if I can...Anyone have any thoughts or experience on this little snafu?

I am feeling like an idiot!! I put my own parents' DOBs in...and I walked Laurent through the filling out of his forms. I can't believe I didn't notice that we'd missed this detail! CRUD!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAround 35-40+ days for approval

Wonderful Kirsten! I bet it made your day! I can't decide if I should ask you exactly what it looked like, or patiently await ours... :pop:

It is definitely a waiting came, so feel free to share my popcorn

Oooo...Popcorn...don't mind if I do! Thanks, ready4One!

I don't mind describing my NOA1, if you like...

It's very official looking on high-quality color paper that I'm sure is designed to foil forgers. It's got lots of narrow, wavy, colored lines running through it diagonally and a pale, orange image of the Statue of Liberty torch in the middle. Its labeled in the upper righthand corner as "I-797, Notice of Action," and has a very federal-looking, elongated banner/cartouche inscribed with "The United States of America" just beneath and centered across the top of the page. Below the banner is a series of boxes containing information pertinent to your case...receipt number, case type, received date, petitioner, beneficiary, notice date, your address and the amount received in fees. The body of the form is composed of all the expected mumbo jumbo about processing times and some stuff that applies to people who are filing forms other than ours. At the very bottom is contact information for the CSC and a bar code. There you have it, my friend!

You don't have a bottle of wine to go with this, do you...? Wanna plug in a movie...? Something to take our minds off the waiting...? :)

Hey Kirsten! Thanks for the encouragement! I am sure they are anxious to cash my check  so my NOA1 won't be too much longer coming!

You must have been pretty happy to get your NOA1 in the mail, and I know I will be here  and letting everyone know when I get ours! Congratulations to you filing buddy

I was indeed happy to get mine! I'd had this horrendously long day at work and was utterly exhausted when I finally dragged my butt back home. I flipped open my mailbox on the way in my front door to discover an envelope from the Department of Homeland Security. My heart just leapt! I felt totally rejuvenated. Now, of course, I'm back to wanting something to happen again, but it's great to know the darned thing is at least in a file cabinet or on someone's desk now and in line to be evaluated. Here's to as few RFEs for you and me as possible!!! I'll be right here waiting to hear happy news from you this week. And it WILL happen this week. I just feel sure of it! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAround 35-40+ days for approval

So far the only documentation I have our packet was even received has come from the US Postal service. At least they operate efficiently! ;)

I will hope for a speedy process, but plan on an extended process... In the end, J will be here with the kids and I and that is all that is truly important!

Hey there, Ready4One! Since we're filing buddies, I thought I would encourage you a little. I bet you any money you get your NOA1 in the mail this week. It took me exactly two weeks to get mine; it arrived on the 14th. And I think you filed a few days after me. Hang in there! It's on it's way. Know what you mean, though. For a while the only way I knew my packet made it anywhere was because I sent it certified mail and tracked the item number through USPS.

Let us know when you've got it!!
