Bet you're floating on air.

Best of luck on the journey that yet lies ahead. Would love to advise you, but haven't made it that far yet myself!

P.S. Could you please take a brief moment or two to fill in your actual timeline so that your info can be included in the stats VJ compiles? It would help the rest of us gauge the speed of approvals. You can do this by clicking on the "My Assistant" link above and then choosing "Edit my Timeline."

Thanks!! :thumbs:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVSC

Who should I be writing to? I have already contacted my congressman' s office.

Start hitting up the doors of the local media...radio show hosts, newspaper reporters, anyone who'll listen. Once we've managed to get some local attention, we can put together a noteworthy press kit to send to people on the national level. As I've said in other posts, it's best to read the Ombudsman reports (annual from 2004-2006). The links can be found in the following thread within one of my posts. Reading that post will also help a bit. Know all the facts. Make phone calls, write letters. The more the media hears from people, the more they'll understand that there's a real story here. Start local. Let me know who you're going to contact so that others here can send to the same people. The more letters or phone calls one person in the media gets, the more that individual will be likely to see that this is a valid and newsworthy issue.

The media has the ability to put pressure on the government officials who manage and oversee USCIS. Currently, none of those people has to do a darned thing...and they don't show much interest in doing so. Time to start turning up the heat. We need to start putting DHS and the USCIS congressional oversight committee in a very uncomfortable place. The media is the best way to accomplish that. If you're interested in talking more about what's happening and getting on board with those of us who are working to make a difference, please PM or email me. I'd love to hear from you.

If you read the Ombudsman reports, it's easier to generate theories about this...

As I've mentioned in other posts, USCIS tends to push contract workers from task to task and office to office like fleas in a barnyard. I strongly suspect that contract workers have been pulled from other locations, including Vermont, to get the CSC results we're seeing now. Your government in action. This is not a good system.

Again, everyone should be writing letters and trying to get some attention focused on this situation. If you're interested, please contact me. AOS and Interim Benefits are coming. If you think the petition phase is a pain, wait till you get a load of what's ahead...Don't wait. Do something now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCSC Timeline Percentages

I didn't count anything that's happened with Vermont K-1's. I know that some of those are slow too but most of them are approved with 30 to 60 days with an average of 38 days.

I've been keeping Vermont stats for comparitive purposes, even though I'm a CSC filer. I've updated my Vermont spreadsheet according to Gary's rules over the last couple of days. Here are the stats I've come up with...We knew there was a big difference; but in putting my percentages next to Jasal's, we can see just how BIG a difference it is.

March=26 Timelines; 5 (19%) Still Pending

April=37 Timelines; 3 (1%) Still Pending

May=32 Timelines; 4 (1%) Still Pending

June=33 Timelines; 5 (2%) Still Pending

July=17 Timelines; 4 (24%) Still Pending

August=22 Timelines; 5 (23%) Still Pending

TOTAL=167 Timelines; 26 (16%) Still Pending

None??

Ooh well lets hope they are well rested and going full speed tomorrow! :)

Actually there were two. I_Love_Cuddlebug got one dated yesterday, and when I did a timeline search nergiz15 newly showed up as approved (though they list their NOA2 date as 9/20/06). Plus there were some consular approvals that were pretty wonderful. So it was not a total wash. Let's hope California steps it up again today, though...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do you think?
I've recently started a writing and editing business, and I actually have a couple of suggestions. I've worked to make you more concise and to the point, as well as taking out anything that will put you in a position of relative weakness (e.g. anything emotional). Stick to the facts. It's the facts, if anything, that will matter and make a dent with these people. Put your date at the top, in your heading, rather than at the bottom of your letter. See suggested edits to the body of your text below:

Dear Sir or Madam:

On July 28, 2006, I complied with a USCIS request for evidence or information dated [insert date of request]. USCIS's [insert date] reply subsequently stated that preliminary processing of my case was complete, and that remaining processing time would be less than the maximum stated in the message. The USCIS website and call center similarly state that I should have received a written decision on my case within 60 days of receipt of the requested information. USCIS additionally advises a phone inquiry should no news be received within the stated 60 days.

On [insert date], I followed recommended procedure and called USCIS. A customer service representative suggested that I fax a request for expedited service as I am now easily outside normal processing times. I thus write to request this expedited processing of my case, recourse for which USCIS policy provides.

I would like to add that I belong to a public forum that both supports those going through the K-1 visa process and compiles statistics derived from the experience of its members. Due to its size, the group provides an excellent representative sample. I have noticed that while I have not even received an update on my case, at least 237 forum members who filed after me have received decisions on their K-1 petitions since July 29, 2006. It would seem that something has gone quite amiss.

I very much appreciate your attention to my concerns and request for expedited processing. I look forward to a timely response and resolution.

Sincerely,

Andrew James Solomon
Petitioner

I'll be praying for you!! :thumbs:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWell...

Hey there filing buddy! Was hoping you might have meant some movement on your particular case. But I agree, reason to be hopeful that the end of the week will be as productive as the last two... Hope so anyway! :thumbs:

Thanks, ready4ONE, but no, nothing for me yet. I was encouraged to see, though, just as I was about to call it a day, that James n Naina finally got their approval out of Vermont. They've been waiting a long stretch. So it's a positive way to end the night. :)

Here's hoping we all wake up to a slew of approvals that arrived while we slept...

Sweet dreams, everyone...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWell...
OK, so it isn't exactly the equivalent of last week so far, but there was a bit of movement today at least. When I did a timeline search this evening, there were several couples I spotted who were newly reporting having received NOA2s. Four were CSCers--2 August filers and 2 July. Three of them listed their approval date as 9/25, and one as 9/20, I believe. There was also one September VSCer who made it through.

Here's hoping tomorrow is busy, busy, busy again. Hang in there everyone. Buck up, stiff upper lip, and all that other rot... :wacko:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE FOR ERROR ON G325A ... HELP IF THIS IS YOU!
It's also possible that someone at USCIS will take pity on you and just copy the G-325As. You never know. Unless you only sent yours or your SOs, in which case you will definitely be getting an RFE. You do, as Caladan said, need a quadruplicate copy of the G-325A for the USC (United States Citizen) and another quadruplicate copy for the beneficiary. ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE FOR ERROR ON G325A ... HELP IF THIS IS YOU!
Calm down, my friend. This really isn't that big a deal. You just need to re-do the form in quadruplicate--making sure to sign EVERY PAGE. If you fill out the PDF fillable version of the form online, you actually only have to complete one page and it will print out the other pages for you--already filled in. Then just sign them all. It's a happy thing. :)

Probably best to get on this now, since it will probably take a while to send the forms to your SO for signatures. Don't send the forms until you actually get an RFE in the mail, though. otherwise you may create more confusion than anything.

Again, though, once you've completed and SIGNED every one of the four pages and have received the RFE, send the form back, writing on red ink on the outside of the envelope that it's an RFE response. Seems to me you should write your case number on the outside of the envelope, too. Someone else here can verify that for you, I'm sure. William33 is great with this stuff. :)

Breathe easy. All will be well. This has happened to many, many people.
