Kirsten, you know how much I care about your case and how much I want you to have your approval. I'm sorry it wasn't this time!
It must be awful to feel that kind of happiness just to be let down later. I'm here if you need a friend! (F)
Good luck! :star:

Thanks, my friend!! I so appreciate your support. I'm doing much better now. But you should have seen me this morning. I was a nervous wreck when I realized my error...UGH!! Hope your journey is going successfully for the moment!! :) PM me sometime and let me know!!

Kirsten,

I did not have very much time near the computer today, so sorry, to hear about this. But it looks like it ended up okay. My thoughts are with you tonight, hoping that you and Lauent will continue to support each other through this very hard journey. It does feel great when you have, supportive and a understanding people around you and a caring and wonderful man. Wishing for a VERY fast approval for you and Lauent.

Rhonda

Thanks, Rhonda. :) You and everyone else have been so gracious in the face of my snafu and have really helped me so much to re-attain my equilibrium today.

Well this is certainly a wake up call for those who are emailing you their approvals with no note attached to explain that it's THEIRS and not yours. How thoughtless of them.

hang in there, you didn't do anything wrong.

It is a cautionary tale, certainly. In this case, the person has already very graciously apologized, though. Bless his heart...He was just excited. He didn't mean any harm. He's completely forgiven. :)

I just continue to be so appreciative of everyone's kind words and supportiveness today. Thank you so much to all of you!!!

I want you all to know that I did break the news to Laurent early this afternoon. He handled it like a trooper. In fact, he laughed. He said, "So, you woke me up at 6:30 this morning to tell me that we're approved...when we're not." I said, "Um...yeah. But they've been approving so many people lately. I don't think we will have to wait much longer." He just chuckled and said, "Well, do we have a choice? We wait." So for those of you who did pray about this conversation...THANK YOU!! Your prayers were answered!! :star: :star: :star:

God is truly good. He gave me a wonderful man and surrounded me with caring, understanding people. It really doesn't get any better than that. :) :) :)

Again, I don't even know how to tell you how much I appreciate the gracious love, care, support, and encouragement you guys provide me. I literally don't know what I'd do without you.

For those of you who pray as I do, could you please put in a couple of extra prayers for my conversation with Laurent when he calls back later today. He has been suffering from some pretty low morale. And on top of the depression, he fell about ten days ago and broke his left wrist and dislocated a finger on his right hand...So he's now dealing with some pretty incapacitating physical woes, as well. I was so happy to be able to give him some news last night that pulled him up out of his blues and gave him happiness and hope. Now, I don't want to crush his spirit. Please pray that God would really be with him in receiving news of the mistake so that he could accept it without his morale plummetting again. Please pray that he would be given hope and vision. Thank you so much...I know I can count on you guys...That means the world to me...

Well...Here's a situation that may never have happened here on VJ before...

I don't even know how to say this, so I'll just be completely frank. I've made a simple but horrible mistake. I was NOT approved last night. Another VJ member forwarded THEIR approval to me without any explanatory message and without blocking out their WAC number...So I very easily mistook his approval for mine when I looked at the message through the viewer of my email client. Seemingly unbelievable but true. I only discovered the mistake this morning on waking up.

I'm mortified, first of all, that I told all of you something that turned out not to be true. I'm mortified that you've now all extended wishes that I don't yet merit. I'm mortified that Laurent now thinks we have an approval and is out of his apartment for several hours feeling happy about something that's not correct. I'm mortified to admit my own complete foolishness in not looking more carefully at the message I got last night and discovering reality earlier. But there it is...So I'm humbling myself.

Please forgive me. I would rather tell you all what happened immediately upon having figured it out than have you believing something that isn't true and thereby compromising the truth to an even greater degree, along with my reputation for it.

I'm still thoroughly delighted for everyone else who got approved yesterday. Turns out I'm just not one of the lucky ones...I think I'm gonna cry, I feel unbelievably terrible...

So, so sorry...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI know touches don't mean anything

Kristen, it is not very often to meet someone as kind and patient as you! Who knows what's biting Jasal.

We get criticized for "bitching and whining" and now we're not allowed to be hopeful or optimistic either? Are we supposed to be completely blase and unemotional on this journey?!

I have been touched 3 days in a row after they received my second RFE. I know 'touches mean nothing' but its impossible to not get excited!!

Good luck to all. :D

Thanks for your kind words, Michelle. :)

I'm with you! Hope is so important in this process--or any other that involves a lot of waiting. And it IS impossible not to get excited when you see dates changing and know that someone's at least had their hands on your documents!!

Yeah, this whole "let's just be stoic until we're approved so that we don't annoy anyone" bit is really not workable...leastways, not for me! Perosnally, I haven't figured out a way to eliminate those pesky emotions yet...Maybe next week...

Kirsten you crack me up!! And I think it actually has been over 60 days for me? NOA1 August 1. All of August is 31, September is 30, plus three days in October makes 64, correct? So have I passed the golden milemarker where I'm allowed to be excited?

Oh by the way, no approval... yet!

Tee hee hee... Glad to provide a chuckle around this joint, Liz...especially to you, one of my filing buddies!

Yes, I think you're absolutely allowed to be excited. But heck, I think anyone's entitled to be excited anytime around here. I'm just completely lax, I guess... Maybe it would be better to ask one of the local VJ police...

 Oh please! It hasn't even been 60 days yet for either of you. But I hope you both get your N0A2 soon because I'm about ready to boycott this place until you do. There's this thing called LIFE and it shouldn't stop just because you've filed a I-129F.

Hmmm...I don't really see what's wrong with a little excitement or an attempt to be positive about one's case. I also don't think either Liz or I has stopped living...We both work every day. We both have responsibilities that we fulfill. We both still laugh, cry, have pulses, burp, poop, and all the rest of it. Yup, last time I checked, Liz and I were both still very much alive and carrying on...

Is something eating at you, jasal? You're not usually testy like this...Anything I can do to help...? I'm here if you need me. :)

But.. OMG I was touched today!!!!!!!

I get off of work at 9, and I hope and pray that I have an email when i get back...

please let today be the day!!!!!

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you only receive an Email if there is a "change in status" on USCIS site. If only the date changed, then it is a Touch. If the date changed, and the information when you clicked on your case number had changed, thenyou get an Email. The information under your case would either state an Approval was sent, or an RFE Request for evidence.

Please check USCIS again and look for any change from your case number link ;)

LuvLife...Thanks for the refresher course, but fear not...It's actually not necessary. Liz and I are already well aware. We're just hopeful that there will soon be movement on our case one way or another. Liz herself said, "I know that touches don't mean anything." We're just trying to stay positive is all. :D

Thank you, again, to EVERYONE for your incredible kindness, understanding, and support yesterday. You made a very difficult day a LOT easier to swallow...Michelle...turns out you were right...They did have to give me my real approval quickly because I'd already had all the congratulations!!!

This morning when I downloaded my email there were FIVE EMAILS to tell me that I'd been approved. Don't worry...I checked this time...they're all STRAIGHT FROM USCIS and CRIS!!! These are MINE!!!

Laurent took the bad news very well yesterday as you all have probably read by now. He's in the car at the moment on the way to his parents' house. He sent me a message from his cell phone this morning. I'm going to go right now and send a message right back to his mobile...I think it's wonderful that he'll be with his parents when he gets the news!!!

One thing I can tell you is that on the finally updated version of the I-129F, I did indeed have some problems with check boxes. I was only able to check the first of the various boxes. In trying to check any others, I would lose the x in the previous box. So in the end, I could only check the first box of the many on the form with my computer. The rest I had to leave blank. I put the x's in those by hand after printing the form. That's a definite bug that they'll have to fix, but I don't expect it to happen any time soon. So...heads up!

I just now checked my copy in a panic, but all is well. My PDF fillable form did what it was supposed to do. I'm wondering if there's an issue depending on what browser you're using. Maybe we should do some research about that possibility. At various points I did drafts of the form on Safari, Firefox, Netscape, and IE for Mac--just to see what was working the best for me. I don't think I had a problem with any of them, really.

Anyone else...?

Until you have reason to think otherwise, consider yourself blessed to have one less level of bureaucracy standing between you and your dream.

This is exactly how I'm inclined to view the shipping of a case directly to the consulate. I understand already what the fear is, though...that doing so will only screw things up and cause you a longer time at the consulate. Well, I for one am praying that won't happen to you, Gary and Luz, or to tjv2000 or anyone else. NO MORE SCREW UPS!!!

With SirPratalot? Not a chance in hell. I'm a Cancer. I hold grudges to the grave.

That's too bad. Seems like a lot of wasted time and energy to me...but your choice, certainly. I guess Aquarians are more flexible that way... :) Where it's possible--and I think it is in this case--I'd always rather have harmony with someone that hurt me in the past. Forgiveness is a process, true enough. But letting go of anger and resentment frees you up to direct that same energy in more productive and positive ways. Well, just think about it. Maybe you'll change your mind. Again, if not, totally up to you. :star:

Anyway, I have a lot of good friends who are Cancers. I'm not big into astrology as a way of life, but I do find there are some interesting tendencies. For example, my fiancé's an Aries...and true to form, he can be a real hothead!  But I love him!! (L) He says he's become more patient and calm as a result of our relationship. Good thing!!

Everyone has their flaws and foibles. Everyone--regardless of astrological designation--says and writes things that in retrospect they pro'ly shouldn'ta. And everyone--regardless of astrological designation--gets their feelings banged up sometimes. But you know, grace is a beautiful thing. When I screw up (and I've done so royally on more than one occasion), I am always very relieved when I hear the words, "It's o.k. It's over and done." Do unto others is all I'm trying to say... :) (F)
