IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPOE Hawaii and my wifes horriable travel via Hawaiian Air
this is sad..but lemme ask you rmncm..when you booked the flight for your wife, did you pre-choose her seat? when i did booked my flight through hawaiian airlines, i did choose my seat from manila to hawaii and then from hawaii to las vegas and i ain't on the rear end..

i have yet to travel with them (hawaiian airlines) this 10th of november..that's why this post came as a shock to me..i have flown through cathay pacific, PAL and NWA..some good, some not but i guess my only consolation this time is that ill finally be with the one i love..

after all we're blessed compared to others who up until now is still stuck waiting for the DV.. cray5ol.gif
but i'm glad you're wife arrived safely..
god bless you both..and your little angel too..

QUOTE (mhal2008 @ Oct 12 2008, 09:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I believe with what you said that we, married couples, should not be needing this cenomar or marriage index! because that is the primary requirement when we got married.. but the thing is US embassy has no trust on our documents anyore, they want double proof...!... that's why they require document like this .... If I were you, I'll get one in NSO to avoid visa delays.. We are in IR1 category and we were asked to have one...

see what i mean guys..it doesn't matter weither your visa is marriage based or not, THEY WANT OUR CENOMAR/MARRIAGE INDEX..so let's give them what they want. getting the document is CHEAP, waiting under AR due to missing CENOMAR/MARRIAGE INDEX is pain in the ***.

we just shared it so you guys benifit from our experience..if you think you guys don't need it, DON'T GET IT..but never tell us we didn't warn you. good.gif

CENOMAR is seldom asked for at the interview for married couples. I've never seen it asked for married couples on a US embassy site.
Good thing to have tho as it does show your recent marriage and any others the filipino had.

At my wifes interview approximately a month ago it wasnt asked for. So I wouldnt worry too much if you cant get it before the interview. If you can the yeah its best to have with you then not to have. But if you're married it most likely wont be asked for.

this serves true for those previously interviewed (before october) but if you noticed the new trend, the DV has certainly been set aside (not sure if it's temporary since the revised IR, F and E visa category interview instruction does NOT mention DV) and the applicants married or not is asked for CENOMAR/MARRIAGE INDEX.

i'd definitely say GET IT when you can..and get it soon.

Hello MJ3lasvegas!

How can you get a CENOMAR if you're already married? If I apply for one, will I use my maiden name? I'm confused. hehehe. Well I am still in the early stages of NVC processing but it does not hurt to be prepared. Thanks.

just fill out the GREEN FORM if you're to get it from NSO serbilis centers but if you're requesting it online, just fill out the request form on CENOMAR. as i have repeatedly mentioned in my previous post, it will NOT yeild that you are single, instead it will show the marriage you have contracted here in PI.

request for the CENOMAR and you will see what i mean..and with regards to what family name you are to use, use your MAIDEN NAME. innocent.gif

I'm now worried, my wife and I didnt catch this cenomar either. She has her interview Oct 22nd...I have a question about this. If she gets it done on monday and has it before the interview, its going to slow down visa deleivery right? Also it wasn't listed on her appointment letter from USEM. Was it on your appointment letter? Thanks

try securing the marriage index as early as now. you can request for it online (NSO website) and pay through metrobank first thing monday..if she gets it before interview, chances are she'll only received pink slip (with instructions to pay delbros) and if there won't be any other problem (ie DV or any additional docs to be submitted)..

and NOPE, the marriage index (CENOMAR) was NEVER mentioned in my appointment slip..but i just brought it with me..

QUOTE (vsmtghdy @ Oct 11 2008, 07:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi, if you will review the "Requirements needed for the Interview", CENOMAR is included (Number 4) . http://manila.usemba...ov/wwwfiven.pdf

For single and married applicants, both will still apply for "CENOMAR" at NSO. For single applicants, NSO will be releasing the CRS Form No. 4 = CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage) and for those who are married, what NSO will release is the "CRS Form No. 5 - Advisory on Marriages".

During my time, there were still confusions about CENOMAR because it was not clearly stated then. Applicants only receive a small piece of paper attached to their Packet requiring applicants to bring to bring a CENOMAR.

4. CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (CENOMAR). If you have never contracted marriage, a CENOMAR (Singleness) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper should be submitted. You may call the NSO Information Center at 02-737-1111 to inquire on securing a CENOMAR or visit their web site at http://www.census.gov.ph.

personally, i never thought i'd be asked to submit this document (since i am an IR1 benificiary), bu YES i was asked for this during my interview and luckily i brought it with me. previous months before, benificiaries or IR1, CR1 and K3 were never asked for this, i personally asked my CO about this and she politely aswered me that they used to require this before for the above-mentioned visa category benificiaries but they stopped it, they just recently brought back the need for marriage index...the guys from window 37 also said the same thing when i asked him..

I never receive the DS 230 and I sent the original DS 3032 to NVC,,Do you know any estimates on how long more do we have to wait?

YES. but you will need that later on the NVC Visa Process, not now. you still need to fill out the AoS. Secure employment records, IRS papers, pay stubs, etc. the form and its questions are a bit tricky, so read throughly. after this, another fee bill arrives. this time it will be for the IV application, amounting to 400USD. after paying, you will recieve another instruction letter from NVC on how to fill out the DS-230 (Immigrant Visa Application). YOUR HUSBAND NEEDS TO SIGN THIS FORM, but only part 1. send it will all civil documents with the photocopy of the geographic page of his PI passport. hmm, there maybe some things i miss, ask me later what needs to be clarified. i will search for specific infos later if you need them..

QUOTE (Reallyfrustrated @ Aug 20 2008, 05:37 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My situation is just a bit different than yours but similar. We sent in all of the required documentation to the NVC as soon as we received the Packet 3 from the NVC. We received our Packet 3 on July 11, the NVC received it on July 16, and our case was completed on July 25. I received my copy of the Packet 4 on August 9. My wife in Serbia still has not received her Packet 4 but as long as I have mine we are good to go. So it went pretty quick for us. Our interview is scheduled for September 30. Hope this helps.

Reallyfrustrated, your visa process is totally different from anezk. you have to consider that they're on an IV route since her hubby is a CR1/IR1 beneficiary. the whole process may have slight similarities but if you really read through the lines, they are very different. K visas (K1 and K3) dont take long to process at NVC. after they received the papers form USCIS, it only stays at NVC for a couple of days (very often). they dont require submission of DS-230 (Choice of Agent), I-864 (Affidavit of Support) and the DS-230 (Immigrant Visa Application). stating erroneous informations will just mislead people to believe on something which totally incorrect. Forums exist to help member.

CR1/IR1 takes time to process (but NOT years of course, maybe a matter of 2months to 3months). we went through the whole ordeal of submitting the requirements and waiting for fee bills. im from PI and a beneficiary of CR1/IR1 visa with my USC hubby as my petitioner.

since you have have paid your AoS fee bill, expect an instruction mail from NVC to arrive in a week or two. it will contain all the necessary documents you need to secure. the instruction will just basically contain instructions (no paper to be fill out, as we hoped before) you need to print you AoS online. it will be dragging if id be telling you step-by-step on what to do.lol..so im offering yo a link to read. this is from FBI - Family Base Immigration Forum, where i too am a member. if you have questions, you can try posting there. there are a lot of helpful people there and there's one person in there who knows A LOT about this whole immigration stuffs, i guess i heard from members that he/she works for the US immigration thingy..not that im sure of but the people there will be of greathelp to you.

but i guess providing links are not allowed here, just google Family Base Immigration and look at the Guidelines and Flowcharts for IV Procees in general and NVC. this will be very helpful, thank me later..hahahaha...kidding aside, im serious, this will really help you both..it helped us. you wont be sorry.

hope this will help.

i'm not having such a great time with my pregnancy.. i'm on medical leave at this time due to severe nausea.. pretty awful #######.. but we are so excited! thank you for the well-wishes!

should i have him get a CENOMAR for me too since i'm filipino-born? did you get your husband that or was that just yours?

another question: i don't need to have him bring all those NSO documents with him to the interview, right? they should have all the originals already. just have him bring evidences.. they have mine and his original certified true copy birth certificates, our marriage certificate from the NSO, NBI clearance, police certificate, copy of my naturalization certificate, original 3 years of my tax transcripts.. am i missing something?

but then i don't want them asking for it and then he can't produce it.. i'm so anxious. i know for K3 you need to bring all that ####### because they didn't go through NVC first...

thought i'd bother you since you and i are kinda in the same boat.. smile.gif

i too had episodes of nausea and vomitting but i only have it during the evenings which was kinda strange.. unsure.gif anyways, this is normal for most pregnant women in the 1st trimester. it will eventually subside on the suceeding trimesters. just hang in there..

going back to the topic..
i personally don't think it's a good idea to rely on the fact that you have previously submitted the NSO originals. i too did, but i didn't wanna take the risk of being asked for a particular document and not have it with me. i'd suggest that your hubby bring "back-up" for everything you have submitted (in originals) to NVC during his interview. this would include BC, MC, NBI and whatever you think the CO might want..which could be ANYTHING..just come prepared..overly prepared just to play safe..

about the CENOMAR/marriage index, tell your hubby to secure only HIS marriage index. no need to secure one on your behalf, just his. good.gif

thanks in advance for your help!

yes it is the CENOMAR, but instead of it yeilding that your hubby is single, it will indicate that he has been married once to you (granted that benificiary has only been indeed married JUST once). on the question if you need it or not, IT DEPENDS ON THE CO. of all interviewed so far, i guess i was the ONLY IR1 beneficiary asked for this document. but since your interview is still next month, there's no harm if you secure the document just in case the CO asks for it.

congratulations!!! that was a quick one huh!! you're off soon! kicking.gif

quick indeed..i'm leaving for vegas later next month, filipino as i am, i don't wanna miss the upcoming fiesta! plus, i need to spend some quality time with my family and our son since he will not be travelling me to US, he'll travel with his dad later next year (june 2009 - daddy will be coming to PI to fetch him, no prob in travelling coz he got his US passport already) for reasons that i'd still be adjusting to life there and i need to find a job.

i'm happy everything is done but not too excited to leave since it feels like i'm leaving a part of me behind..the feeling is different, but somehow this will be for his future..

Congrat's... My fiancee is from Mactan and we are patiently awaiting our NOA2.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, she is a bit nervous about the whole process up in Manila... but nothing she cant overcome I'm sure.

Again Congratulations and hope your trip is safe!!!

thanks, i wish you both the best..it's alright to be nervous, i guess it's pretty normal especially when we don't know what's gonna happen next..just let her come prepared during medical and interview and she's all set..

PhilippinesMEDICAL AND INTREVIEW EXPERIENCE
we all have read countless medical and interview experiences here at VJ. so i'll cut the ####### and roll out the particular infos i just wanna share so that others can benefit from this post.

MEDICAL
i came to SLEC at exactly 9:15 AM. as expected, a lot of people were there but i was surprised i didn't encounter any hassle as i went along with my medical. i followed the working flowchart the guard gave me upon entering the facility. the guide was comprehensive so you won't have any problem understanding the whole process. i managed to complete my medical without any problem at 2PM. i was asked to come back next day for the results.

the next day i went back to SLEC 1PM, i approached the guard and he look up my name on the master list. he told me i can have my farewell party when i return to cebu. it was odd and i was like why is he telling me this so soon when in fact i haven't been interviewed yet.. hahaha..but i must admit, the thought amused me. i had my immunization that day, 4shots. overall, my medical went perfectly fine.

INTERVIEW
i arrived 5:45 AM for my 6:30 AM interview schedule. there were already dozens of people sitted ahead of me. i got in the USEM 6:20 AM. the prescreening when just fine. the prescreener noticed that my husband was born filipino citizen. she just asked me 2 questions:

how did he get to the US and in what year?
when did he become US citizen? what EXACT date?

after that she asked me to return to my seat and wait until my name will be called. had my fingerprint scanned and finally waited for my number on the cue board for my final interview with the CO. my number flashed.

6030 > 28

i went over to window 28 and a blue-eyed CO was seated across me. she administered the oath and started asking me questions.

what is your petioner's complete name?
how, when and where did you meet your husband?
how many times has he visited the country eversince the relationship started up until now?
when was the last time you saw him?
do you two have children? and have you applied for CRBA?
what kind of job do you have here in PI?
when are you planning to take your stateboard?

while she was doing her interview, she was typing details on her computer screen then she finally said,
i didn't see any problem with all your submitted documents and your english is excellent
(i was like, my english was excellent? hahaha..hmmm, i was expecting something different for a final comment)

and she added..

there's just ONE thing i want from you..
(ONE thing she wants? OMG! that moment, i wished i didn't complain)

please submit a MARRIAGE INDEX to prove that there's no previos marriage that occured before your union with your petitioner

(MARRIAGE INDEX??? i almost fainted..lol. first time i heard this term!)

i finally regained focus, i asked the CO what it was exactly and then she explained what the document was and i almost leaped for joy!!! I HAVE THAT WITH ME!!! i handed the marriage index to her and she smiled and said,
well, there's nothing more i can say. start packing! WELCOME TO AMERICA!

i said my thank yous and with a big smile, i headed out the room. wow..it felt great..i was seated still floating in disbelief when i heard my name called. i was given a pink slip and i paid delbros for visa delivery.

all the time, i was conditioning myself for a white slip knowing that my DV was NOT processed yet. but neither the prescreener nor the CO asked for my DV receipt from metrobank. the ONLY strange document they asked from me and i NEVER even expected was the MARRIAGE INDEX from NSO..

now i await my visa delivery..i'm back in cebu after the whole trip..tired..but happy that everything is done and behind me..good luck to everyone awaiting their turn and just a piece of advise, stay focused, be OVERLY prepared and pray..

Philippinesdo we have to attend CRBA interview
QUOTE (lostGurl18 @ Oct 22 2008, 12:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
hi everyone. as you all know about our past experiences mario (us citizen husband) had overstayed in the philippines for 3 years and i paid $2000 penalty alone plus his tickets going back here for $850 dollars. --now are still establishing ..and last april 2008 my daughter was denied of her us citizenship because of domicile issues of his father ..
1) i wonder if we need to attend the crba interview together (money issues) or
it's alright if you don't attend the CRBA appointment (or your husband). just make sure your mom has a signed affidavit of legal costudy of the child plus your hubby has to sign the consent form in the CRBA packet indicating his consent to pass on his US citizenship to your daughter and have it notarized.

2) can i request my mother to attend the interview for sophia (just in case were lucky to get all paperworks before NOVEMBER)..
of course you can, just make sure she has the documents i mentioned above. hmm, a letter from you guys may be helpful too. a letter indicating why both of you can't attend the CRBA appointment.

3) can someone help me make a letter of consent?
which consent are you referring to? letter of consent to pass on US citizenship is with the CRBA packet already.

4) what are the possibilities if were not present during the interview?
if all papers are complete, your daughter is likely to pass. was she really denied last time? coz as i have learned from other CRBA applicants, that once they deny the child of US citizenship they usually advise the parents to file an I-130 petition for him/her instead.

5) how much is rough estimate of DNA TESTING?
this i'm not pretty sure of but the amount plays between 650 USD-800 USD roughly. last june (during our CRBA appointment @ USEM), one applicant was asked for DNA @ st. luke's and the mother said the price as per told by the CO was around 35,000 Php.

6) What are other source of proof of domicile ( mario is a student --we already went to school no records washed during hurricane ; previous state and drivers license STOLEN IN MANILA, and after we got the duplicate id it has a different registered year not year 2004 but instead the year it was renewed ),
how about his OLD passports? the one he used prior to coming in PI before the child's birth? was he born USC or naturalized..

no tax and no work since he was a student that time), heres the copy of the white slip we got last april.
