It's not unusual for docs to sit for a while, especially in busier consular offices, before the staff has time to "receive" them into their system.

Thailand[Thailand] Affidavit of Single Status Questions

Generally the embassy accepts documents six months old or less. Wife says that the document is dated at the time it is requested

My fiancée went ahead and got her Affidavit of Single Status while she was back home this week. We will be submitting our petition next week, hope it doesn't sit too long before it gets to the embassy.

Thanks for the information.

Thailand[Thailand] Affidavit of Single Status Questions
Hello,

My fiancé and I are preparing to send our K-1 petition, and wanted to have as many items attended to as possible. I am told by a visa consultant that the Bangkok embassy will require an Affidavit of Single Status, which my fiancé is preparing now. Does anyone have any information on how far back an Affidavit of Single Status will be acceptable? 3 months old, 6 months old? Unlimited?

Thanks in advance for any information.

ThailandBKK Interviews in December
So is it a reliable assumption that the Bangkok embassy comes to a grinding halt from the last week of November to mid January. Should I expect that if we don't get an interview date before this period it'll probably be after the 1st of the year?

ThailandWhen will we get an interview

thats fine go ahead and break my heart LOL

I realy thought that it would be fast after the nvc completed there part. The timelines that i looked at I guess gave me False hope

The notion that "Things happen fast" after NOA2 arrives is a fallacy.

The Embassy is currently scheduling interviews for applications that arrived at their door on August 3rd. And that is a rough estimate.
Charts Here

We received our NOA2 on August 4th and I'm beginning to get skeptical that ours will come before New Year's

the G-325 and I-129 contain very basic items that a couple should know about one another. Mother and Father's names, addresses, places of birth for everyone. Shouldn't be that difficult to complete.

There will be other items of information that they will be seeking that will test the genuine nature of your relationship.

I was watching some videos from April 2010 (I was there) The military should have shot them all. First bullet for Jatuporn. I'm glad Seh Daeng took one in the head. He deserved it.

Thaksin should be brought to justice for war crimes. It's pretty sad this shell of a man can hide out in Dubai.

ETA: Before a mod jumps on me over this, the guy is a fugitive on the run just like Qadaffi was. He got what he deserved and so should Thaksin.

I think Thaksin is a slime as well. But apparently he has lots of folks in Thailand hoodwinked... Even today!

Sounds like Hopey Changey!

My cousin's house is completely flooded in Pathum Thani. Destroyed. The electricty has been cut off and they've been told to move up to the 2d floor.
He bought a crotch rocket motorcycle a few months ago and was worried about it. He bought a zodiac inflatable boat, went back to the house and loaded up on his boat.
As he puts it.."to hell with everything else, my bike will survive".

The rest of the family in PT have escaped out to my village where it remains dry.

Anybody know if Future Park in Rangsit is still dry?

Last I saw, Future Park was OK, but closed until further notice.

ThailandWe are in the U.S.!....now SSN or marriage?
Wait until you get an ID with her married name....save yourself a trip. We made the mistake of getting the SSN the day after she arrived.

We arrived in the US on May 2. We have started to settle in. I went by the record of deeds office in my county to check on getting a marriage license. They need a SSN for each person, among other things.....or they gave us an affidavit to use for a person who is not eligible for a SSN. They asked if we had applied for a SSN yet (and we haven't) so they gave us the affidavit form for people who are ineligible for a SSN. They said we could use that to get the marriage license but only because we haven't applied for an SSN yet. I'm curious if anyone here has been through a similar experience. It doesn't seem right since we will be eligible for a SSN when we apply.

I read if we apply for a SSN it will probably take 2 weeks to get. It seems like we need to wait 2 weeks after entry to make sure Took is in the SAVE computer system, then apply for the SSN, then wait 2 more weeks to get it. Is that what most people do?

If we marry after getting a SSN we have to go back and change her name. I was hoping to marry first then get the SSN with the married name....saving a return trip to change it. Anyone know if that is possible?

Mark & Took

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussia Specific FAQ
How long does it take to receive the K-1 visa once the interview is complete? We are taking a trip to Thailand directly after the interview in Moscow, but I'm not sure how many days to allow for the K-1 after the interview? I don't expect to have to provide any additional information/proof, since we've been working together in Russia the last few years. Can I safely schedule a plane flight out of Moscow the day after the interview?

I forgot to mention... I see you live in Kennewick? I grew up in Washington and moved away less than 2 years ago. Lived on the Puget Sound through high school and then attended WSU in Pullman. Go Cougs! My roommate there is from Yakima and neighbors from the Tri-Cities. It's funny... I grew up in a very wet, moderate climate and thought I would never live in a climate like Eastern WA. Now I'm living in almost the exact same climate here in Southern Central MT! laughing.gif

QUOTE (pushbrk @ May 24 2008, 06:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If you don't file a petition until October 2008, you'll be providing the 2008 tax return with your affidavit of support, several months after filing. You don't submit the I-134 and tax return with the petition. Each three dollars of liquid assets can replace one dollar of income shortfall. Sounds like your 2008 income and your "current annualized income" next spring will be good enough to get you qualified.

As for employment history, I recommend indicating the occupation of "student" and listing the College as "employer" for any periods the description matches.

Thank you very much for your reply. So I am to understand that they will be more concerned with "current annualized income" as opposed to historical earnings (i.e. requiring me to present tax returns for the 3 previous years)? Is there a specific reason why we are required to present tax returns for the previous 3 years? That's really the only thing that concerned me, as I am comfortable about my current wages (that I will be earning with my new job). I was worried they would focus too much on past employment history. I was a full time student and then for a while after that I was part time while I was working on a house renovation (as an investment).

So for a realistic example, let's assume the following:

1. Savings account = $20,000
2. IRA or any other investment portfolio = $5,000-10,000
3. Car (yes old, 2001, but paid for) = $6,000
4. Job (Employed for 6 months) = $10/hr min, likely $25-30k for the first year (could still be higher)
5. Absolutely no debt and a high credit score (just for the heck of it)

Would I have any problems proving financial support for just myself and my fiance? Can I not even bother worrying about an IRA or any other investment portfolio? If they were subjective they could take into account that I obtained a 4 year degree that is paid for, by ME (btw, not family - just me) and NOT the government. Even with my education I wasn't a burden on the state. Anyway, I suppose I could be going overkill here. I just want to cover my bases. I'm young and I don't have a professional career to back me up. Also, if for some reason I get to the interview portion and I fail this requirement, am I able to add a co-sponsor without starting all over? If I don't start over, what type of wait am I looking at? Although, I would really rather not have to consider a co-sponsor. Again, I'm trying not to be a burden on anyone else, haha laughing.gif

Thanks for all your help! Thanks to anyone who replies!

Well... this is my first post here, but I've done a TON of reading already. Now I'd like to post my specific scenario and hopefully get some relative advice. I met my love last december and we hit it off immediately. We're already discussing visa options, but there's still questions to be answered. So here's our situation:

I recently graduated with a BA and I'm currently seeking employment. I had an interview last week and my chances are good that I'll get the job. It's commission based, however, my draw would still be just over 125% of poverty. This would be guaranteed pay, in the case I don't earn enough through commission (but this doesn't happen with any of the other salespersons). But I don't want to take a job just to take it, and then quit soon after. I have savings to support myself right now. I didn't file taxes for 2006 and 2007, but I was working on a house renovation that was intended as an investment venture. My share will be paid to me this year. Also, I've done a few other projects in the meantime to bring in some income. What I'm worried about is that I won't have employment history that meets their requirements, if that is indeed what they're looking for. I plan on applying for the visa by october. However, the summer job I worked in between school sessions (2001-2005) paid about 185% of the poverty level, but I don't imagine they would consider that. I don't own a home and I'm currently living with my brother.

So I guess my questions are:

1. Is employment history important? How many months at current employer should I put in before applying for K1?
2. What kind of assets would I need to support my case, if needed? What amount of savings?
3. Are there any different criteria between K1 and K3 regarding income requirements?
4. How late into the process can I still petition for a co-sponsor without starting all over?

What's frustrating is that I have a BA, which I paid for myself, and I have absolutely no debt. Not only did I pay for it myself, but I did it without government assistance. I would think this proves I have means of providing support. I just don't have the employment history. Of course I could have skipped going to college after high school and got a job. I hope they apply reasonable judgement on an individual basis because I really feel like I'm in a predicament here.

I am REALLY grateful for this site. I have learned SO MUCH already. I can't believe the assistance one can find here. You all are a tremendous help and I hope I am able to receive some answers that can alleviate some of my concerns. And I hope I can eventually return the favor. Thanks for your time - whoever is reading this! biggrin.gif

Oh I'm sorry for the confusion regarding proof of relationship, haha. I didn't mean to imply that I count on bringing all this to the interview. I just meant that we will have confidence in knowing that we do have plenty of evidence to back up our love story. We won't require all of this to present our story. I agree with you both that it isn't necessary, nor entirely effective, to bring that amount of material to make a case. Certainly not 600 pages for one month! laughing.gif

I'm not gonna treat the embassy as the big bad boogeyman and beg for mercy. You take it serious, follow the guidelines and you and your fiance/spouse get to be together.

Ok, no problem then. We're not gonna worry over proving our relationship because we know it's very genuine. It will show during the interview. We have over 600 pages (Word doc) of yahoo messages for march alone. haha. Then there's the Skype calls. I'll have plenty of pics with her and her family when I visit within the next few months. I'm not sure what else they can ask for. We're both transformed Christians and found each other at the perfect time in our lives. Thanks for your help. You helped clear my mind smile.gif

I've been searching for an answer to my question and thought this thread might be an appropriate place to ask. Does a prior cancelled K-1 (for fiance abroad) effect the outcome of a visa with me now? It would have been cancelled for at least a year I believe. Are there any provisions I can read about regarding this? Thanks!

You have to submit a waiver request with the I-129F if you have submitted another I-129F application within the previous 2 years.

Can you clarify this for me? I have never submitted an I-129F in the past (this will be my fist visa petition) but she has. She didn't get very far with it before she cancelled. Will this have any impact on whether we get approved or is it just a formality to submit the waiver? Thank you

What do you mean she has? The restriction is on the petitioner and only a US citizen can file a petition...

I'm sorry, I'm still not familiar with all the nuances of this process. I wasn't sure if she would be on record as being a beneficiary of another USC in the past, even if it was cancelled. I have never filed a petition before. So there's no worries then? There will be no record of this that could effect us? I'm still new to this and just want to make sure I'm covering my bases. Thank you for your patience.
