US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 April filer

Update:

03/29/07 - Sent N-400 to NSC (certified mail)
04/03/07 - NSC recieves N-400
04/05/07 - Check for $400 clears
04/16/07 - Received NOA in mail
05/03/07 - Biometrics
08/29/07 - Interview

I sent my N-400 on June 27th. They cashed check already on July 3rd.
If somebody would believe USCIS processing times (for your office Denver, CO) then your interview would not be in August...but anyway great, pretty fast process.

US Citizenship General DiscussionQuestion about docs at the interview
I sent all of the required documents along with my N-400 already. Yesterday I finally got my interview appt. letter and N-659 (Interview Document Check List) where, of course, they want all those documents I already sent in. Do I go and make another pile of this papers and take them with me? I'm sure its better play it safe and take them, even that they should have all of them there, together with my application.

What did you do?

Thanks for help!

US Citizenship General DiscussionInterview Letter received
Your spouse doesn't need to be there at the time of the interview, they will not let them in room with you anyway.

Last Thursday when I was in Kansas City waiting for my interview there was a couple sitting and waitning to be called in....and when her turn came up, they both wanted to go in. Officer asked her husband if he is her lawyer and of course he said no. Officer then asked him to sit and wait in waiting room that he has no need for him to be present at the interview.

But of course interviewers ask where your spouses are, they asked me and she was more then happy when I told her that my housband is at home with kids.

US Citizenship General DiscussionWhat was your answer to these questions?
QUOTE (ives_damian @ Jan 14 2008, 11:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
What was your answer to the question re: time spent outside the U.S. last 5 years when I've only been here since 2004. Since coming here, I haven't travelled outside the U.S. at all. Prior to my coming here though in July 2004 I went to Hong Kong and China. Any suggestions?

questions:
1. How many total days did you spend outside of the U.S. during the past five years?
2. How many trips of 24 hours or more have you taken outside of the U.S. during the past five years?

Thanks so much!!

Ives

At the time when I was filling N-400 I was not in US for 5 years either. If you didn't travel outside USA then put down NONE.

"N-652, Naturalization Interview Results" document which you get after your interview

and

"N-659, Naturalization Interview Document Check List", a paper which I got together with interview appointment letter.

If you have problems to see images let me know!

Thank you so much! I could read everything just fine!
BTW...that list is the exact same one that they have at the end of their citizenship guide, I sent all those things along with my N400 application already... unsure.gif Do I have to gather them together again??

Your welcome smile.gif

I took originals with me...I sent them only copies and that it. But they never asked me to show anything....

Thanks again! I will do the same. Whenever the heck they'll set an interview for poor me lost in their july backlog... wacko.gif I won't complain though since I was one of the lucky ones who could still pay the old fees whistling.gif

I will cross my fingers so you will get your interview letter soon!

I wouldn't even file just yet if it wouldn't be to save some $$.

Thank you!
Well I still had to file ASAeligible because of my hubby's job, it is one of those requirements between the lines that his spouse is a USC...My 90 days mark fell right on the last good day to mail out stuff before the new fees at the end of july, I couldn't believe it! then some on here scared me by saying they knew of poeple who had their applications rejected because they were sent right on the 90th day mark...it didn't make too much sense to me, I don't see what ground they could possibly use to enforce something like that since it's stated in their guidelines (any lawyer could overthrow that I think)...but anyways...turns out my application was NOT returned afterall...it's just stuck in Baltimore right now LOL

I've been meaning to tell you...your kids are absolutely adorable!

Hey congrats again! Actually I am really looking forward to it as well, although I am not definitely sure I will actually be able to (see timeline).... unsure.gif
I have a question if you don't mind...what did you have to bring to the interview? I am about to go look and see if I can find this info somewhere else as well, but for some reason all the posts I found in this citizenship questions so far never reported that. I am just trying to make sure there isn't anything crazy I need to have then, so I am already prepared when they call me for my turn...not that it necessarily means that will be soon anyway` laughing.gif

Did you send anything with your application? I did...hubbys birth certificate, kids bc (all copies), last 3 year taxes, house and care insurance where you can see both names and some other stuff. With interview invitation I also got a paper as a list what documents you need to bring. Right now I can't remeber what type of paper was it, but I will look at it later when I put kids to bed for nap and I can even scan it.

I took all what they asked for with me, but lady there never asked me for anything additional, never asked me to show originals....we just went through papers which I sent with n-400 application.

I had my interview today at 10am. I got there at 9:30, got called in by really nice lady little before 10am. I swore in and we went through my N-400 real quick. She also checked all supporting documents I already sent with application.

Got asked 6 questions, wrote down on a piece of paper short sentence (My car does not work) and read one (I have three children) and I was down. Walked out of the office at 10:07am.

Ceremony will be in 2-3 months......

US Citizenship General DiscussionAsterisk in NOA Receipt Application Number?
No worries about *. When you use USCIS Case Status Search web page: https://egov.uscis.g...earchDisplay.do just put in whole number, together with asterix.

Even web page says you need to use it:

To view the status of a case, please enter the corresponding application receipt number. The 13-character application receipt number can be found on application notices you have received from the USCIS. It begins with three letters such as (EAC, WAC, LIN, or SRC). Dashes ("-") should be omitted when entering a receipt number. However, all other characters, including asterisks ("*"), can be included if listed on your notice as part of the receipt number. See the FAQs for additional information on this system.

I put mine is as LIN*xxxxxxxxx . If you don't use * you will get error message that your case can't be found.

Hey guys;

helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif A co-worker of mine went for his citizenship interview in Charlotte this am and although the interviewer told him he passed the interview, he was given a letter to wait 6 months to a year for them to make a final decision about his citizenship. He had his biometrics done in April of 2007 and they went ahead and scheduled the interview. If there was something wrong, wouldn't it have been know from the biometrics?

When he asked for the reason, she told him she she could not discuss that with him. It is his case, why not? mad.gif mad.gif

They also told him he would be able to travel to the Phillilines on his current LPR status. Is this advisable? huh.gif huh.gif

Does anyone know what this could possible mean?

Did he get a paper like this?

http://www.visajourn...y...10002&pos=2

If yes, then no worries....they give this paper away to everyone who don't have oath ceremony right after their interview....
I just had my interview on Jan 10th., passed it and got ther same paper. I will have my oath ceremony ina bout 2-3 months. Some Distric Offices have ceremonies same day, some 2 or 3 times a year.

About traveling on LPR....he is not official US Citizen before he gets paper after oath ceremony. So he can travel using his green card which he got with LPR status.

I would like to hear from other people who are going through Distric Office in Kansas City,MO with their N-400 deal. Please post your exirience even if your done with naturalization....

Thanks!

Lexa, call the federal court in your area to find out when they will be performing the next oath ceremony. Knowing when they do that, might give you an idea as to your timeframe. Also, I would call the hotline to speak to an IO...they might know something, too.

Good Luck!!! good.gif

Somebody posted this info at different forum...about oath ceremonies at KC Court house: "They schedule one oath ceremony every month, typically on the last Friday of each month although the exact date sometimes varies. Upcoming dates are: April 25th, May 30th, June 27th, July 25th, August 29th."

I think I will really need to go through all that hassle and call them...hopeing I can get any information that way.
