Philippinescalling it quits
I´m sorry to hear it. But, did u talk to her before her arrival about your economical situation? If she wants to send money to her family great! I do it too! but I work!! Does she work? If so, she needs to know there are some expenses u have to pay every month TOGETHER as a couple, and if there is something left, I can´t see any problem sending money "sometimes" not all the time to her family. And about your Sprint bills, she should use International Calling Cards, there are thousands with good rates to any countries, a $5 calling card gives u around 2 hrs or more to call to her country, and it is just like a local call here. Our Sprint bill didn´t go up since I got here so that is a good choice.
Take a seat, talk and talk and TALK! maybe she is too young but she has to grow up, she is married? now, and YOU AND HER are a family, her family in PH is in second place.
I hope it works for u guys.

Middle East and North AfricaPossible MENA issue at the consulate?

Hi all, my fiance just his K1 interview in Madrid. For those of yall who don't know me, my fiance is Moroccan with Spanish residency. His interview was yesterday and the lady told him he was totally approved three or four times when he asked and that his visa should be at his address in 1-2 weeks.
This was very exciting news. I had sent a few emails to the embassy stating my support and that if they needed any info to contact me. I assumed they didnt need to since he was already approved and left my phone on vibrate yesterday after the interview while I was at work. However, they called me while I was in a meeting and did not leave a message. I called back ten minutes later and got the answering service. They are only open 8-10 am US time or 3-5 Spain time. I emailed them last night stating that they could contact me by email. I'm a teacher and today was the first day of class where I teach at a new school. I called during their hours between class changes and got the busy tone. Then I got a call from them during class and felt I had to answer it (*breaking school policy on the first day * )or I wouldnt get a chance to talk with them and maybe risk our visa processing getting held up. I excused myself to the restroom and took the call.
I was "interviewed" the same 10 questions as my fiance the day before and had sent him with a mountain of paperwork and evidence that explained all of the answers to the questions, but they did not want to take on the day of the interview. I have read every single review for the Madrid consulate and have spoken with at least a dozen people who have done their interview there and this has NEVER happened. I answered everything perfectly but felt a little nervous and jittery since I was leaving my class all alone on the first day of school to take a call and I think my nervousness came out in my voice. :bonk: I know nervousness looks like a redflag to them, should I try to contact them and explain whats happening?

My fiance was told he was approved several times and his passport was taken, no 221g. However he was not give a piece of paper from the delivery service to call if the visa takes more than 2 weeks, which is given at this consulate. I'm hoping she is new and just is trying to take extra steps like calling me and making rookie mistakes like forgetting to give us the delivery paper. My fiance said she was African American, and I have only heard of a blond lady and an older lady doing K-1 so maybe she is new. I really just hope we are not being harassed. He is completely legal in Spain and we have 3 years together so I don't see how this could be a problem.

Are we being harassed?

Does it sound like they changed their minds?

Does it sound like AP?

Should I send more proof via email?

Anyone have any insight? Should I make a big fuss at the embassy or should I just lay low?, but I dont want to get put on AP..... Maybe I am just nervous from not eating all day and missing my fiance.

Hi Meghan.
Guess what??? She was the one who interviewed us!!! She was a very nice african-american girl. Like your case, she kept my passport, she didn´t give me any paper, (white, blue, pink, red, jajaja), she didn´t want to see any of my proof ( I had tons!!) seriously, not a single picture! she just asked us about 3 or 4 questions, to both of us and that was it, and I was in AP but just for a couple of days, because u know, I didn´t have my Spain Police Record, so she told me they had to do an "internal check" and she told me if everything was fine, I will get my visa in about 3 weeks! I had my interview Wednesday 7, my visa was printed out the 9th, and my visa in hand was the 13!!! so it took less than a week.
I told u it is always complicated for a moroccan citizens wherever they live because of the high fraud country, I am pretty sure she just wanted to double check, actually she is a young girl, and yes she is new working at the embassy. Thank God I didnt got the old blonde lady ;)
Don´t worry my friend, everything will be fine. There is no reason u to worry about. If she said he was approved, and she kept his passport, he probably will get his visa next week.
Please keep me updated!
Have a great weekend!

Middle East and North AfricaHas marriage & life been what you expected?
Finally a great topic!!!
We are married for 2 years 7 months, I got here April 2010. We are the same age, I am a latina, I was living in Europe when I met my hubby. Is marriage what I expected??? Actually I never thought about it when I was single, it was totally new for both of us, and we get along really well. We both are 36, no kids yet (hopefully this year). It is hard for me since I have no friends/family here, my hubby is my entire world. I work in a call center so I speak english 24/7, only speak my language with a couple of coworkers and my family when I call home. My hubby is very understanding, and we always do everything together. I just got my permit (not drivers license yet), still learning, did not need to driver where I come from, we have great public transportation, and subways and trains etc. I have my own car but I can´t drive by myself yet until I pass the test. It is really frustrating, no public transportation where I live and I feel so dependable of my hubby, to take me everywhere, Is like not having legs to walk. The biggest cultural difference between him and I is.. I am sooo affectionate, I show my love to him all day long, I tell I Love You to him all day long, calling, texting each other while we are working. He is cold. He shows me his feelings on different ways, but that is something I really miss about latin people... how affectionate and loving most of us are. But I don´t complain, I would marry him again and again If I have the chance!
He likes my bolivian food (thank God) and we both love movies. I cook (once a week we go out for lunch or dinner) but we take to work my homemade food. Ah, and I love music, I prefer music over the TV... love to dance... (he does not know how to, lol)
My only friends here ... are on my facebook, a couple friends at work, but I could not make any "good" friends here, most of people are busy in their our business :(

I guess that is the sacrifice I had to make to be with him, left family/friends/my world behind, but totally worth it. He is a great guy and I am so proud of him.
I really pray to God to let us be together.... for a very long, long time....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresshould i risk it or postpone my wife's interview?
QUOTE (nyankee @ Dec 8 2009, 03:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well my wife is 32 weeks pregnant, and her interview is Jan 5th, so she will be 36 weeks pregnant around the time of the interview. She is due jan 24, but the doctor thinks she might give birth a little earlier, but she is not sure. Anyway, the embassy is about 1 hour away in airplane in the highest city in the world, la Paz bolivia. My wife does not want to go in airplane being scared that the sudden pressure on the plane and arrival at the city might spark her labor, which i think it wont happen. Anyway, she wants to go on bus, and that takes about a whole day and a half to get there.

Should i just postpone the interview or risk it and on on a bus for the interview. I just dont want my wife to give birth the middle of the road mid way to La Paz, or a flight to affaect her preganncy. What do you guys think.

Hi, Im bolivian too, what city is she from? IF she is from Santa Cruz (like me) it takes 19 loooong hours on bus... but she can do it.... she should take a very comfortable bus, and try to get relax, and it is better if someone goes with her.
Let us know ok? Good luck at the interview!!

Hi, it doesn´t matter where your wife lives as long as she is living there with work and residence visa. Im from southamerica but I live in Europe. There was no problem, they just need a current address where to mail her or call her. Just get sure she to send a copy of her "legal residence" That is it, and of course dont forget the police clearance from the places she has been living since she was 16.
It has been a very big problem for me because I dont have "yet" the Resident card here, but finally we got an interview date.
Good luck!

Oh Good!! I´m so glad u r better now! No stress at all! I was really stressed out, I know exactly how u feel, I got "many white hair" because of this process, lol. Thank God we r done now and I´m home with my hubby. Try to relax, keep your mind busy, I also didn´t want to read this website, cause it was very painful to see many approvals, but mine. It has been very stressed out for me.
But u r doing so good, and I´m pretty sure u will get an Jun interview so... now work in scrapbooks, etc..

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNot in system 7 weeks after crossing POE

Look in your wife's visa, she should have an I-551 Stamp (I believe that's the correct number). It should have her A# written on it. Use thatnumber when you call USCIS...

Totally agree, I have an A# written in my passport when my POE a month ago. with the visa stamp CR-1 valid for 1 year.
Call them and give them the number.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo I bring taxes from 2009 to interview?

Hey guys,

Getting ready for our June 1 interview. I have not filed taxes for the past few years on the basis that I didn't make enough $. My grandfather is our joint sponsor. When we sent off all the financial supporting documents to the NVC the 2009 taxes were not yet due. The 2008 tax papers were submitted since that was the current tax year. This is what it says in the letter we received from the NVC:

"IF a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) AND provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax Return, the applicant must bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax Return to the visa interview."

We did NOT provide the NVC with proof of a tax extension because it was not necessary...Do I need to bring 2009 tax returns??
THANKS GUYS!!!!

Oh wow! Tomorrow is your interview... Good luck!!

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Questions for a Slovenian
I'm so sorry I didn't see that before. I'm not sure if you need it anymore or not.

Here is Slovene web page where you can request police record:

http://e-uprava.gov....e...207&sid=650

Since you can't file online, you need to download PDF form and send it to address
provided at the bottom of this form. But I couldn't find english version of PDF.

This is English part of same web site.
http://e-uprava.gov....rava?asv_id=365

On the left side is also phone number you can call and they can help you.

Its been awhile since I used their web site/services and I hope this few links can
help you.

US Citizenship General DiscussionQ about N-400 form
Here is whats confusing me.....you say I should use the date that I first obtained LPR status (I was approved on 12/19/2005, thats the date on approval letter I got from NSC) and the issue date on your first conditional green card (which is 12-12-03). Those are two different dates, with 2 year difference.

I know that question is asking for all trips since I became LPR, that means my approval date on 12/19/2005. Am I right?

I didn't deal with USCIS for two years and I forgot how confusing they can be LOL

US Citizenship General DiscussionQ about N-400 form
Hi guys,

I'm just finishing with my N-400 form and there is a question which is a little confusing to me.

Part 7.
Time outside the United States
C -List all the trips of 24 hours or more that you have taken outside of the US since becoming a Lawful Permanent Resident.

On my paper from NSC (my AOS approval letter) it says that my conditions were removed (decision date is 12/19/2005) and now I'm LPR. But further on same paper says "You are deemd to be LPR of the US as of date of your original admission (stated on same paper as 12/12/2003) or adjustment of status.

So can somebody help me clear this up which date is now the right one 12/19/2005 or 12/12/2003 ?

Thanks!

Aleksandra

Don't forget to ask for the booklet and CD that they are supposed to give you regarding the US Citizenship test. My sister and I never received anything but some members here have said that they give it to you at the biometrics appointment.

I don't know about CD, but even NOA for FP says you can get free booklet which help study for the test.
