PhilippinesWhat does she has to do at the airport?
Printing out the boarding pass does not work as explained above. The reason is simple, the airline counter people will confirm the PTA fee and send you back to get that. If she does not hav ethe fee paid then immigration sends her back to get it.

PhilippinesWhat's the PIN?
The LIN get the US caller supposedly three calls to the call center. I know that I did more than that. Something like 4 or 5. But maybe none counted until they could actually schedule her interview. On the first call they could not schedule it since the USEM had not gotten the actual case files from NVC yet.

PhilippinesI-130s for Beneficiares are Approved
YOu can not go down the K3/4 route until the I-129F is approved. But with the I-130 approved you have options. You can wait for the I-129F and pursue that route or select the CR/IR1 route. The timeline on each about the same if both I-129F and I-130 were approved at the sametime. In your case, it appears that is not the case, so going after a CR/IR1 might just be faster and also cheaper since you do not need to do the AOS that a K3/4 requires.

Best of luck. Things really pickup speed now.

Philippinesadjust status
It is pretty simple, just follow the guide for AOS. It worked for us with no issues. The only thing that can be slightly confusing is that the guides suggest that you also put in for AP. You do not need to do that since K3 already is multi-entry for the duration of the K3 visa. Congrats on your arrival and my you get your EAD and GC with no issues.

From experience. Trisha did day 1, then after the period, a few days later, returned for day 2. There were other posts about this also by other members over the past 6 months.

Philippinesapplication for adjustment of status
NOA is your next item. So in 1-4 weeks you should have that. Then biometrics appt which you will get a letter as to the location, date and time.
You can check status on the USCIS with the case number assigned to yoru I-485

PhilippinesCivil wedding in Manila
Trisha and my experience was in Makati. I had a filippino friend check on all the requirements and processes ahead of time for me and the price we paid was the same. I did get an extra grilling by the Civil Registar about by divorce decree and how could they tell if it was final. Since your fiancee is only there for 20 days it is best to know all your requirements and have everything ready to go. Day 1 he goes to US Embassy to get his letter, you can accompany him. Then go the City Hall and get your license started. Wait 10 days......

Best of luck

Philippinesmarriage certificate for interview
I do not about the fees but it was worth that small amount. Most are only a few $'s and in your case which is moving right along you really do not want to wait months.

Philippinesmarriage certificate for interview
YOu can submit a copy of the original you got from the marriage. That is what I did. You can also have her go to the registor and have it expedited for a few pesos. We did that and it cost Php 200. NSO had it ready for us 6 weeks later.

PhilippinesEligibility for Scheduling an Interview
QUOTE (tallcoolone @ Oct 9 2009, 04:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
A few days after the paperwork was transferred to Manila I was on the phone with my PIN number trying to call and set up interview.

First time I was told paperwork was not their. So I waited about 3 more business days and called back and was able to set up a interview date

Don't wait for you fiance to get a letter, start calling the USEM with your PIN

good.gif good.gif I took the same approach. After waiting you finally get to start to real people.

Philippineshow to do letter of advice?????
Go to your local city hall, see the registars office for marriage licenses. Tell them your age and ask them for the letter you need to get married. There is one for 21 and under and another for those older than 21 up to 25. Save yourself a little time and bring the parents and they get it all prepared at the same time.

Philippinesletter of advice
QUOTE (tallcoolone @ Nov 5 2009, 03:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We had to provide a Parental Consent to CFO since my Fiance was under 21.

Per Philippines Family Code (Or what it was last year).

Age 18 to 21 needs Parental Consent (We had ours notarized).

Age 22 to 25 need Parental Advisement (What that is, is anyones guess).

The CFO will probably want to see a Parental Consent Form if you fiance is under 21, I have not seen on this forum where the CFO has asked for Parental Advisement.

The USEM does not care about Parental Consent / Parental Advisement, this is all about the Philippines Govt and CFO.

good.gif good.gif
Both can be obtained at the local registars office in city hall.

Philippineswhat next
There is a difference between the K1 and K3. With K1 you can apply before. With K3 we are married before she arrives in the US and we could not apply for the SSN until we had an approved EAD.

Check out the guides at the top of VJ. Your going to do the adjustment of status so that is the I485. Do the EAD at the same time to save some $. That is the I765. You may want to also fill out the I-131 so your then wife can travel back to Philippines in case of any family emergencies.

Philippinesquestion about bringing money out of PI
For the Philippines you can not bring in or leave with more than 10,000 Php which is a Philippines law. She can covert to US $ before leaving. The rules on $ are $10,000 which is a US law.

We are looking at that. This fall I hope to setup a bank account in BPI while in Manila on Business and begin the process of showing banking history. In a few years a lot and perhaps a house.

PhilippinesNBI AND INCORRECT MIDDLE NAME
Correct if you go the route I suggested you will not have to stress anything. I did this to covera all of the nicknames that had been used. Now in your case you can go down the route of just getting a NBI with he correct name also. Since the BC & passport already reflect the correct name and if she never used the incorrect name that you should be fine.
dale_trishaMalePhilippines2010-03-21 07:36:00
PhilippinesNBI AND INCORRECT MIDDLE NAME
Make it easy. Just get a NBI that has all the names some will be AKA (Also Known As). We did that. Worked great and removed all issues. We also made sure all forms had the alias; when asked for.

PhilippinesHow can I get a copy of my future wife passport certified

Yes i realize that...hopefully you can get the right certification for the passport is all. You file the W-7 with the tax return. I am assuming you already filed for this year (this would be for next year since you're not already married right?) It will take you 6-8 weeks or longer to get your tax return back if you file for TIN since everything is paper filed together. I figured it wasnt worth all the hassle at the time and not being able to get a certified true copy of my wife's passport at the time. Like I said, they did not give us a stamped copy of her passport, but another sheet just verifying all the info. Would it have worked??? Probably...but I didnt want to mess with it and I wanted/needed my tax return back as soon as possible since i needed some of that money to help pay for Mhay's plane ticket.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf

Make sure to get your soon to be wife to sign it when you are down there.

You got back what Trisha got back which was a receipt and a letter saying the info is correct on DFA letter head. We used that when filing and had no issues getting TIN when we filed the W7 with the 1040. Yes it was paper and it total duration it took about 5 weeks to get the TIN processed and then about 2 weeks for the 1040 to be processed and the refund deposited into our account. It was a bit of a pain due to the extra steps so that we could claim Trisha as a resident (she was still living in Phil). See IRS Pub 519 on how to do that. Plus there are many threads on that subject. Overall I would do it again.

PhilippinesHow can I get a copy of my future wife passport certified

Did I say Embassy?

look here: http://manila.usemba...wwha005.html#W7

W-7 Application

The Embassy Consular officers can authenticate originally signed birth certificates and marriage contracts issued by the Philippine National Statistics Office (NSO) (Obtaining Public Documents) in Quezon City, Philippines in support of applications for US taxpayer ID numbers, ITIN (W-7) application (Tax Assistance). Other documents required by the ITIN (W-7) may be certified by the issuing agency or official custodian of the original record.

Unfort what you will need is the passport certified and that is not a NSO document but a DFA document so this part is the part that comes into play, " Other documents required by the ITIN (W-7) may be certified by the issuing agency or official custodian of the original record."

I have read that the embassy in Manila does not do it any longer.

Correct. The embassy does not do that. She will ned to go to DFA and get it authenitcated which is the key word when working with DFA., We did that in 2008 and have had no issues with the State of MN and the IRS accepting it.

750 terminal fee. Then since she has a GC she shows this to the desk where she would pay the travel tax and an exemption is given. The cost as several have posted in 200. We have been there and done that.

PhilippinesFlight Ticket and CFO
It is not required to purchase a ticket online. But the CFO stamp is required to leave the country and will be checked at the immigratoin checkpoint at the airport. Also since your purchasing online the travel tax will not be included but will need to be paid at the airport - Php 1650.

PhilippinesNOA2 To Interview, How Long
Each case is unique but usually 3-7 weeks. During the time you get your NOA2 you need to wait for the NVC to complete its case and send the approval to the USEM (~1 week or less) and for the USEM to get the hard copy of the file (1 week). Then you can call for the interview. Assuming your ready to go its within a month. Sometimes with you might find an earlier opening.

Philippinesphone cards
Time to teach mom how to use the internet cafe with YM phone calls - computer to computer with web cam or do the same wiht skype. Now the bill drops to the cost of internet cafe which is usually <100p/hour. Usually they can show her how in the internet cafe as long as you can txt her your ID to be contacted one. We have used that exclusively for the past 10 months and it paid to actually just get Trisha a laptop and DSL line at home. Now we can have chats for hours on end.
