Philippinespassport renewal
i would like to ask if anyone of you had tried this passport renewal in Philippines for married women to foreign nationals. They need a CFO, in my case I had my passport amended in DUbai when we reported our marriage in Philippine COnsulate. It was just a stamp saying that i am married to (name of my husband) then shows my name with my husbands last name.

do i still need to attend CFO and have that certificate to renew my passport?

PhilippinesAdvice for CR-1 for a Wife from Philipines

Process time is about the same for both, but have heard its cheaper over all to go the CR/IR-1 route.

really its cheaper? i didnt know that. thanks for the info. i really thought fiancee visa is cheaper.. maybe because it will not be a simple wedding, less relatives.. thanks for the info hank.

PhilippinesNBI and Police Clearance

You will only need a Police Clearance if you have lived or worked in a foreign country for 12 months or more.

If you have never been outside the Philippines, there's no need to obtain a Police Clearance. The NBI Clearance will be enough.

NBI Clearance comes in 2 copies. You can give one to NVC and keep the "personal copy" to bring for the interview. It is valid for one year.

hey apple21 they will really require the police clearance? i stayed in dubai for about 2 years. i got it JUST before i left dubai which was 2011. will it still be valid until now?
biaobiaoFemalePhilippines2013-02-20 05:40:00
PhilippinesNBI and Police Clearance
NO WORRIES. when you apply for nbi clearance all names will appear

for example
name: angelina jolie jones
husband name: john smith

(cant think of any other names)

your name in the clearance will appear as: JONES de SMITH, ANGELINA y JOLIE

all your names will appear. I had mine last week.

PhilippinesWHATS THIS THING FOR???

Im a us citisen, i got married in the philippines and stayed in the philippines for a couple of months and got my wife pregnant after we got married, then i came back to America to start the visa process, 8 months after i left she had our daughter, my daughter is 5 months old. She was born there in the philippines and has been approved for her U.S. passport and CRBA. She has already recieved them and now i am going to pick them up and bring them to America Since my wife already has her cr1 visa now. My wife has a filipino passport with a CR1 visa and a CFO stamp, and my daughter has a us passport with a CRBA. So what will we need to do?

get your baby a PI passport.. have it expedited.. you dont have to worry about taxes.... it will be cheaper and easier for all of you... and in the long run.. your baby can use it as well...she is in mindanao... so best bet is the passport... unless they have a immigration office in her area

PhilippinesDual Citizenship - Pros & Cons (For Filipinas & Filipinos)
im not sure how it goes but i think once you are born to FILIPINO parents you are automatic a Filipino. regardless if you want to denounce it.

acquiring citizenship is like this: thanks http://immigration.g...d=206&Itemid=80

Jus soli (right of soil) which is the legal principle that a person's nationality at birth is determined by the place of birth (ie, the territory of a given state).

Jus sanguinis (right of blood) which is the legal principle that, at birth, an individual acquires the nationality of his/her natural parent/s. The Philippines adheres to this principle.

a given plus to those who married Filipinos is that once you enter PI with you Filipino spouse, you can avail of her benefits as well. No need for visa, stay for as long as you want... i think..

so with that... PROS of being a Filipino / dual -- government is doing its best, PESO is getting stronger; you can own a property less tax compared to US; travel abroad (i.e. ASIA for a lesser cost); you have a sense of family here

just saying

PhilippinesSending financial assistance
save for the rainy days. save for you and your family.. it will be A BLESSING that your husband will have a good job. save for your child too and future kids. as what my husband will always say.. "if you give an inch, they will take a mile" it would be nice to help. but let them learn their lesson too..

what i would suggest, don't send anything for a while. if they contact you and remember you without asking money.. then send some.. if they don't... then there you have it..

you have your needs too... if you and your husband will be out of work.. will they help you?

family is family... but do not sacrifice everything for them... save some for your child and future kids too

PhilippinesAny idea of WIFI cost for apt/House room in Zamboanga?

Yes it is a one bedroom with a large living room. It does has a ktichen and a CR. I've seen pictures and it is so much better than the boarding house Id'e seen with which had teens and young boys staying that played jokes on her. Not funney jokes, They locked her in her section of her room with a padlock! Not funney for a Woman and her kids. Not to mention the same young guys had drilled HOLES in the walls so they could look at her while she undressed and put her kid to sleep.

My one wish is that I could walk up and meet these young men, and show them what a real man is.

oh okay... are you really sure about this. I mean, i have nothing against my kababayans.. but this story seems unrealistic. i have met a lot of filipina that would exaggerate stories to get the $$$$ coming.

For your sake.... do investigate properly.. Anyone can just take pictures and send them, doesnt mean they will be staying.. SOrry to say this... how much do you really know your gf...

dont get mad.. just a piece of advice.

PhilippinesAny idea of WIFI cost for apt/House room in Zamboanga?

Hello all,

I'm so happy I now have my Girlfriend out of a boarding house and into a private apartment in a house located in Zamboanga City. The move allows her saftey for her and her kids, privacy, and a much needed feeling of a home she can call her own. So many benefits of her having both her kids with her, a 6 and 8 year old boys,I can't even express how happy I am that she now has this :D It's a long story with her ex-boyfriend 'Playboy' and his family trying to take care of her kids and keep them for their own that this is a major step in giving her back her rightful being as a Mother. She and her kids are very happy to all be together again. FINALLY!

I'm helping with the extra costs of living and water/electric among other daily life needs but we really like to use WIFI for our talks with Android cell phones using VIBER and TANGO. Can anyone tell us what would be an average cost of installing and using a DSL through Globe in the Zamboanga City for her new place?

God bless, Thank you all for any advice you can give us.

Brad and Dale :)

i think monthly will cost around 1000pesos.however the connection fee, i think its one time charge that i dont know...
check GLOBE BROADBAND, PLDTMYDSL snd SMARTBRO... goodluck.. good choice on giving your girl security... she will love you forever

PhilippinesNeed PHI Lawyer advice on ex boyfriend and families right to take a child
it was just a discussion i had with a law student. you really need a very good lawyer. Justice system is not as favorable here if you don't have money. Also have her check for women's group who are activist, GABRIELLA. They support harassed women, those who can't fight for themselves.

better have your girl find a lawyer. Im not an expert but the ex-boy's mom was kinda right, once the child is less than 8, it will be the custody of mom PROVIDED that the mom can provide for the kids.

PhilippinesPASSPORT RENEWAL with PASSPORT AMMENDMENT, CFO
hello guys,

i am really puzzled. I have wasn't able to contact DFA and I'm really confused.

I reported our marriage abroad in the middle east and tried to change my passport to use my husband's last name, what they did was just to put a stamp stating that the bearer of the passport is married and stated my name with my husband's name.

my question is that my passport is about to expire, i wanted to renew it, since i am married to a foreign national should I still attend CFO first? we wont be working on the visa yet. my purpose just for identification?

i know that cfo is important but i am here in mindanao and its quite costly to go to cebu for cfo.

thank you so much for your help.

PhilippinesHELP! Super BS for the CFO Certificate for marriage in PI!

Dude - take a chill pill. Yeah it's a pain, but there's no way out of it. Want to know how long it took my wife to get to Cebu from where she lived in Eastern Samar? About 12 hours of actual travel time, with waiting for the 2 vans and a ferry to boot, so perhaps 15 hours all told.

If this is stressing you out, wait until you get to the visa process. If you don't calm down, you'll have a heart attack.

Upthread, a nice lady offered to accompany your wife. You might want to take her up in it.

By the way, you are MASSIVELY over exaggerating the dangers in Cebu etc. I mean, really? I've walked around Cebu City all hours of the day and night, and I've never felt in any danger. The Philippines feels, by in large, safer than most of this country. I think you're being a 'trifle' paranoid, to be honest.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT MY FRIEND.. OP is exagerating at maximum level...

i agree.. cebu is not that bad.. let her take a plane to cebu if there is any.. then ahve her comeback same day... just make sure she is early.. make her ride airport taxi.. let her note the taxi numbers and all info about her location.. if not..

ask for POLICE ESCORT if you are really that paranoid

I think you do need to have your married annulled in PI. If I am not mistaken, you got married in Pi first then it got honored in US.

Try going to the embassy and submit your divorce papers.. If there is such thing as report of of marriage. maybe there is also some policies regarding divorce or annulment... Just maybe...

PhilippinesVisa for Philippines
where are you from and where is your fiancee's place? it actually depends on the location if there is a bureau of immigration office that can extend your visa in your fiancee's area.

americans can stay 21 days without visa. however since you plan staying more than 21 days, i strongly suggest you go to the a Philippine Consulate/embassy and obtain a visa.. OR IF THERE IS A TRAVEL AGENCY NEAR YOU YOU CAN HAVE THEM ARRANGE YOUR VISA...

what happened to my husband was that he obtained a visa since i am staying here in mindanao.. not all bureau of immigration can extend your visa.. to save you the headache of extending your visa.. obtain a visa before going to PI.. atleast you will be worry free and just be in full attention to your fiancee :D :P

They need to enter the USA with a USA passport not a PI passport. The issue is leaving PI on a US passport with no exit visa.

sorry my bad.

PhilippinesAverage Cost for Vacation in the Philippines

Hello guys!

For those who went back in the Philippines for vacation, I want to seek for information for average cost of your vacation. What do you think the average cost for 2 adults and a one-year old kid travelling to Philippines for 2 weeks?

I am trying to save for our 2-weeks vacation. I don't want to overly budget neither under budget. I'm figuring out on how much pocket money I should bring as I don't want to use credit card if possible.

Appreciate any suggestions, tips and info.

i would suggest $3000, excluding your ticket US to PI v.v.

$750 each for the adult
$500 for the child
$1000 for the food and hotels, domestic airfare(if you plan to travel and if you do book it in advance as there are a lot of promo fares).

BUT, if you have a lot of relatives, prepare extra $1000 just in case

PhilippinesCo-sponser and manila embassy ????
I e-mailed to the Manila Embassy about the use of a co-sponsor. here is their e-mail response. I hope it helps.

Reference: Fiancé(e) Visa Information

Date: April 24, 2009

This is in reply to your inquiry of April 24, 2009, regarding your visa concerns.

Petitioners in fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa cases are generally expected to provide the adequacy of their own financial resources to ensure that an alien, after admission into the United States, will not become primarily dependent on the US Government for subsistence. While our immigration law does not disallow joint sponsorships for K nonimmigrant visa applicants, the mere submission of an I-134 Affidavit of Support from joint sponsors is not sufficient to establish that the alien is not likely to become a public charge. Accordingly, we make a thorough evaluation of other factors, such as the sponsor’s motives in submitting the Form I-134, the sponsor’s relationship to the applicant or petitioner, the length of time the sponsor and applicant have known each other, etc. An I-134 Affidavit of Support submitted by a casual friend or distant relative who has little or no personal knowledge of the applicant has limited value. Unlike the I-864 filed by joint sponsors in immigrant visa cases, the I-134 is not legally binding and imposes no legal obligation on the joint sponsor to make good on his or her promises. Please be assured that we look at the totality of circumstances in assessing the credibility of joint sponsorships.

For information about financial sponsorship guidelines, you may visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website at http://www.uscis.gov.

Information regarding fiancé(e) and immigrant visa petitions may be found at our website at http://travel.state....types_1315.html or http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3204.html.

PhilippinesIntroduced by a family member ....
QUOTE (SomedaySomehow @ Jul 15 2009, 05:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have been reading through this website quite a bit today as it is my day off ...

I am curious if others here have met their fiance or SO through a relative? And if so did you have any issues along the visa journey because of this?

I will give you a little bit of how my fiance and I met ...

I met my fiance through my father and his wife ( Who is filipina ) ... my fiance and his wife are first cousins ... initially they gave each of us each others yahoo ID's were we have talked every SINGLE day since that first day ... I assume they will look at our case more closely because of this? I would have enough faith in god and the people working at the embassy's to be able to see our love for each other is unbelievably true and committed so I really don't have any worries about this ...

Anyone else here have a similar situation, if so what was or has been your experience so far? For me I wouldn't have it any other way .. I am happy and feel blessed I met her the way I did ... she is amazing.

Thank for reading and any replies !

I don't think it really matters so much how you met. What really matters if you are going to be filing for a K-1 Visa
or Spousal Visa for her to come to the US is that you highly document the relationship. (i.e. Yahoo Chat Records, Phone Call Records, E-Mails, etc.) print these out regularly and save them. If you visit her, keep all airline ticket records, hotel receipts, copy passport after you return to show where it was stamped. and most of all pictures!!! Take lots of pictures with you and her and the family as well with you & her in pictures. Do not through anything away relative to your visit. You provide all this in proper format to the embassy and you should be good to go. By the way, have a lot of patience as this can be an arduous and lengthy process. We congratulate you and wish the both of you the very best.

Just bring employment letter stating how long they been there, annual salary if thats the case and bring all paystubs for whole time there. You should be fine as long as you meet the guidelines.

Annual income is the amount per year you get hired at, not what you have made in a 3 or 4 month period.
