US Citizenship General DiscussionIs this true?
I don't think so. My friend's daughter just had her application denied the day before yesterday because she filed N-400 too early (she would be eligible in June but she filed in May). She lost the money she paid for the fee, had fingerprints taken, had interview interview but received a letter denying.. Now she will have to start over from the scratch.

US Citizenship General DiscussionPassed Naturalization test how long til oath ceremony?

If more than a week has passed since the date of the status change, I'd call the 800 number and see if you can find out the date. Wouldn't want to miss it because of a lost piece of mail.

I second that. That happened to me, had to reschedule ceremony.

If your status says your Oath Ceremony was scheduled and a letter was sent, call USCIS and ask to talk to a Tier 2 Immigration Officer.

For those who expedited the process, did you have to provide any justification (ex. proof of upcoming travel plans) to qualify for expedited service?

Didn't provide anything extra. Just went to the passport agency because I thought they would not keep my Naturalization Certificate, which they did because it's been over a month that I became citizen, so since I was already there with my husband, we went ahead and paid $225 for passport book and card. But, well, good news I got them in 2 business days without paying shipping.

US Citizenship General DiscussionUrgent help!!! Need to sign naturalization certificate!!!!

I didn't even realize the certificate needs to be signed. Glad I found this thread. What if your photo doesn't have a signature? For me, they just used the photo I sent along with the application. Topic of signature never came up with the IO.

On my certificate I have my First Middle Last name as well as my SSN card. I always sign using First and Last though on on all documents including USCIS forms. I'm reading online now that you must sign with your middle name as well. That won't match anything I've ever signed in my life if I follow that rule. What would be consequence of signing it however I like?

I thought for all documents here we only had to use first and last name. I've always signed my middle name though, since forever.

I'm changing my name and I was gonna keep my maiden last name but at the interview the Officer said it would not fit on my certificate for ONE letter. So I decided to remove it. :)

US Citizenship General DiscussionRescheduling oath ceremony?

Unless there is a medical or family emergency, I would go to the oath at the scheduled date.

How many days are there between your oath date and your friend's wedding? You can travel either before the oath if the wedding day is before the oath, or right after the oath (via getting a same-day passport at a passport agency) if the wedding is after your oath. As I said, I would attend the oath at the scheduled date.

I totally agree with this post. You should not reschedule oath ceremony. Oath Ceremony is a very big deal. It's like you trying to reschedule your graduation. Think about it. ;)

US Citizenship General DiscussionIRS 1722?
DeeBee, you may also call IRS and ask this question IRS Telephone Assistance .

I searched VJ and other sites and it really says what I said, that Form 1722 was the outdated form to request tax transcripts.

Check this on IRS website : Copies & Transcripts

Is your checklist like this one? http://www.immihelp.com/citizenship/naturalization-interview-document-checklist.html

The difference must be this:

To receive a copy of your return, complete and mail Form 4506 (PDF), Request for Copy of Tax Return.

To receive a tax return transcript, complete and mail Form 4506-T (PDF), Request for Transcript of Tax Return.

Found this at: IRS website

As I see form 4605 you have to pay for the request and it comes with a stamp, it's an actual copy of the tax papers. I've always read that people take tax transcripts 9the ones you don't pay) and they accept them. Tax transcripts are on IRS letterhead anyways.

Well, this reply will bring your topic to the top, maybe someone just had the interview and they could confirm this. :star:

US Citizenship General DiscussionIRS 1722?
Just go to that site I told you before and contact them. You can call them and it's all automatic, you request what you want and get them pretty fast.

Is your interview on April 28? Call them tomorrow then. You will receive them in time. ;) (you can call them now I guess since it's automatic, it might be 24/7).

I know it's much better when they see the tax transcripts, maybe because it's from IRS. I would take tax returns (the ones you sent at first) in case.

And wait for more replies because I'm not at this point yet so someone else could explain better the reason they are requesting 1722.

Good luck. :star:

If I'm not mistaken IRS 1722 letter was the outdated form to request tax transcripts.

We sent tax transcripts, it's better evidence than just sending tax returns.

Just visit IRS site and there you'll see the phone number ( 1-800-908-9946) and you can request the tax transcripts. I did and got them in a week! You can request them online or by mail too.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI have received another biometrics notice !?!
About the fingerprints: I had the same problem with my AOS. I had them taken for 3 times and then my husband called Immigration and told them about the problem. I don't have fingerprints or they are messed up. After he called them they sent a RFE requesting a Certification of Good Conduct from de local police. We sent it back and weeks later my process was approved without interview.

Well, now I know I have this problem, so when I start my Removal of conditions process I will request a new letter of conduct at the local Police and attach it with the documents and I hope it helps.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDoes I-751 RFE return need Cover Letter?

Its really up to you. Personally, I like to use cover letters when submitting information, especially if there are multiple items included.

I typically include who it is adressed to, case number and applicant info (name, address, dob) what it is pertaining to, and a list of everything included, name printed, name signed and date.

Some people suggest its overkill but I think it is completely appropriate, professional and organized.

Just an opinion.

Thank you very much!

I also think it's so organized. A friend of mine though said: "Oh I just put papers on the envelope and send". Well, I'm trying to write one and I'll see with my husband if we should send it or not. I can post it here too. :)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEnough evidence for I-751? Tax transcript necessary?

Hi everyone,

I'm about to file my I-751, and am a little nervous that I don't have enough paperwork to send. My husband already owned our home before we were married, and my name is not on it, nor any of our bills at this time. We do have a joint bank account, however, and I am on his health insurance.

Another concern I have is that I am including our personal copy of our 2009 tax return, instead of the tax transcript. Do you think that will make a huge difference? I would order the transcript, but I don't want to wait another two weeks for them to arrive because I've already waited long enough to send this in (my green card expires in mid-July). I hadn't realized the transcript was preferable until now.

Btw, I am a Canadian citizen and moved here on a K-1 Visa. I had no issues getting my green card, and actually received it without an interview. I'll be filing through the Vermont Service Center.

This is the "evidence" I have compiled:

- Cover letter stating:

- we're happily married
- I am home schooling his son (who lives with us 10 months out of the year)
- we have one daughter together
- we are expecting another child
- a list of what's in the packet

- Copy of my permanent resident card (front and back)
- Copy of our marriage certificate
- Copy of my Canadian passport (not necessary, I know, but I feel like I might as well)
- Copy of our daughter's American passport
- Copy of our daughter's birth certificate
- Copy of our tax return for 2009 (everything inclusive - I wasn't sure how much they need, so I included all of it)
- Copies of our debit/credit cards from our joint bank account
- Copy of most recent full statement from our joint bank account
- Copies of our health insurance cards
- Copy of a recent health insurance statement (with our names and our children's names on it)
- Copy of a recent health insurance statement of coverage on an ultrasound I just had for my current pregnancy, with both mine and my husband's names on it
- Copies of approved applications to home school his stepson for years 2008 and 2009
- Many family photos from throughout our marriage, taken both at our home and on vacation together

Does this sound like enough evidence?

Thank you for your help!

If you have the paperwork for retirement plans and life insurance it would be a good idea to send them too. We didn't send them at first and they requested them. We are in the same situation about the house (my husband owned the house before we got married) and we didn't send the transcript for the tax returns (we sent 2007 and 2008 because we didn't have 2009 by the time we filed the petition). Then we got RFE and we sent tax return from 2009 and we requested some documents at my husband's Human Resources at work and they sent us all the other documents request to response RFE. We also sent more proof of address. Then we got another REF requesting everything again + a Certification of Good Conduct (this was because of my fingerprints they can't be read). After a week it was approved.

So, if it's possible send these documents now, it could help and you could be approved without an RFE.

Good luck. :star:
