Thanks. How do I get a hold of someone alive on the phone? lol there doesn't seem to be an option to talk to a representative.

There is! Just follow the menu. Then you will hear your online status. After that (if I'm not mistaken) you wait on the line to talk to a representative. They will probably say all your information again and tell you to allow 30 days. Then, just ask if you could talk to an ISO, because you are worried about your oath ceremony, and you are afraid of missing it. I'm sure you'll not have problems and the officer will be able to check the date for you. Then you let him or her know that you didn't receive the letter yet. Good luck, I hope you get your ceremony same day as your mom. :)

Thank God indeed! Congrats! I'm glad it all went well.

I wonder if I should do an infopass so I can get scheduled for my oath ceremony...See the thing is, my mom and I were interviewed and got approved on the same day, she received her oath letter last week for the May 24th ceremony...but I DIDN'T :( Then 2 days ago, my online status was updated saying I was put on the scheduling que...barely! I've been hoping that they would schedule me this week in time for the 24th...but so far no letter yet. I would really love to be in the same ceremony as mom...since we started this whole journey together. I would really prefer not to wait another month...the next ceremony is on June 27th

Scriber, you know what you could do? Same thing I did: call USCIS, listen to what they say (everything you already know LOL), then you say, may I talk to an ISO (Immigration Services Officer). This way the officer can access your information and you will know the exact date. In my opinion you have great chance to be scheduled same day as your mom. Then you say you didn't receive the letter and ask him if you can schedule an infopass. You can do it anyway, but I would talk to the officer first. You can call from 8am to 8pm, you still have time today. I'm not sure if Immigration officers are available at this time, but you could give it a try. If they are not, call tomorrow at 8am.

Good luck to you, have faith and keep track of it so you don't miss your ceremony. :)

I forgot to mention that when we were just getting home I told my brother in law I was sure the letter from UCIS saying I didn't appear for Oath Ceremony was in my mailbox and it was there. LOL

The letter just says I didn't appear to my oath ceremony on 05/11/2012 and that they were going to rescheduled it. But who cares, they already did in person with me and, I already have the letter and also got an email saying my ceremony was scheduled. Thank God! Gotta celebrate a little bit more. => :

I called. I had to argue with the customer rep 'cause she wouldn't transfer me to an ISO, and just kept telling me all these scripted #######. She freakin' advised me to get an infopass instead. Like WTH! She eventually transferred me and I got to talk to an ISO who was nice. I told him that I wasn't gonna argue why I haven't received a letter for an oath ceremony yet and that I just wanted to find out if one was sent to my address or not because I was worried why I wasn't part of the May 2 ceremony. So the officer looked up my records and told me that I haven't been scheduled yet. So now I can stop worrying about a lost mail.

Oh that's a relief, at least you know you didn't miss your ceremony. :)

So, today I went to my infopass and it was a big success!!!

After some time waiting, my brother in law and I went to the window I was being called. The lady there was so nice, she greeted us with a smile and I explained to her what happened and she said, "Oh that happens all the time, sometimes people even forget because, you know we have a busy life." I said, "really? Wow I would never forget something like that!"

Then she said she would see what she could do and would come back soon.

After some minutes she came back with a big smile, and said, "are you ready? "

I said Yes! and she handed me my new oath letter!!!! Yaaaaaayyyy!!!:dance:

I am so happy.!!!!!! :dance::dance:

My oath ceremony will be on May 31, that is in 2 weeks!!!!!:dance:

Thank God everything went so very well, thank to that sweet lady who does her work so very well and VJ members who help us to solve our issues. :luv:

Seems like those cases do not apply to you although you are going there for a case that has been already filed. You could do the following: When you come to the "Please select Kind of Service you need" page, select "You need information or other services"

Press "Continue" and then "Continue" again.

--

I picked:

Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

And I'm going tomorrow, my brother in law is gonna drive me there. He's one of those people who's a blessed Angel in our lives. :)

I feel your pain! I am less than 7 days from AOS interview and I haven't received my letter yet. It was returned to USCIS 'undeliverable' for some weird reason. I have been going back and forth with NCSC and to-date still haven't received it.

I have scheduled an infopass to try and see if they can print me a copy in the local field office. Weird thing about our letter is that we have received all other communication, NOAs, EAD, request for accommodation approval letter, SSN Card, et al... but this particular letter seemed like has been send back to USCIS twice.

Hope your oath can be rescheduled soon. best of luck in that.

Thank you kazuriSana. :)

That's the same thing here about always receiving everything. In my case I'm almost sure it was delivered at wrong address. Even my husband aid he's almost sure of that too.

I always get everything, the only single thing was this letter that happened to be my Oath Ceremony letter. :hehe:

VJ Friends, i need a "little" big help here: :help:

At the infopass page, which option should I choose?

Case Processing Appointment?

We offer 4 kinds of appointments for a case that you have already filed. Please choose from the following - Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.

Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.

EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

I'm very sorry that happened. You have every right to be upset. I've read your posts about waiting for your oath ceremony letter and was kind of following whether you got it already, 'cause like you, I've also been waiting. And what happened to your letter is exactly what I'm afraid of. I had my interview April 23, and on May 2 they had an oath ceremony in my city which I wasn't part of, and that got me thinking if I was actually scheduled for that May 2 ceremony but just didn't receive the letter. I really hope that wasn't and won't be the case. I hope the rescheduling process will be quick for you and you'll be done with this soon.

Thank you Itsy_bitsy. :)

You should call USCIS and do the same thing, ask to speak with an ISO, only they can tell you the date of your ceremony. If you missed it, by knowing at least you can start doing something right now. But I believe you didn't missed it, and I hope you didn't, but anyway you should call.

We've had stuff delivered to our address wrongly, but sometimes USPS is stubborn about taking it back...we've put stuff back in the mailbox and they've taken it, only to deliver it to us again!

That's is really weird. Could have happened to my letter too. But I think if someone had returned it they would have it at the Post Office which they haven't.

Yes Infopass appointment.

I've heard of people getting their Oath letter on the day of the oath as well. So it's not uncommon for this type of situation to happen unfortunately...

Really? Umm, if I only knew last week the day of my ceremony maybe that could had happened to me.

I honestly don't know how long it will take, but I would think that adding one more person to the oath ceremony wouldn't be a problem, so hopefully the next date they have, they will let you go. I don't know if it is a USPS error or the USCIS saying they sent something they didn't. It seems like that happens sometimes. Just be very clear at your Infopass that you have been waiting for the letter and never received it, and they need to reschedule you for the ceremony. Good luck! Let us know as soon as you hear something. Hopefully the second letter they mentioned will be in your hands soon, and you can find out what steps you need to take.

Thank you Menina. :)

And yes, I hope too that they can add me to the next ceremony. Because after we are approved they have around 45 days (which is not 45 days, on the phone yesterday she said 90 days!).

try UPS, is way better than usps ...

We don't choose the service, USCIS does. My husband asked if we could pay so they would send certified mail (even the guy from the Post Office asked me this) but I'm sure they don't do it.

yea not everyone does. Several years ago a book I ordered was delivered to the wrong address and it actually went to the apartment next to mine. This person signed and received my book and kept it in their place for a month! He said because he has many roommates, he thought it might belong to somebody... Even worse, USPS asked ME to go to his apartment and pick it up myself!!!!! BTW I called USPS over and over but they didn't do anything until the seller (a bookstore) contacted them. Sigh.

Really hope you'll get new ceremony date soon.

I am so sorry for all of your troubles. I suggest making an infopass appointment. It is really easy to do online and you can get better answers there than with the people on the phone. Have them verify that you really did miss your oath ceremony and ask if you can be rescheduled right away. I don't know if you can, but it's worth a shot. I really hope you can get this sorted out soon!

Thank you Menina. :)

Yes, i want to try infopass, but i need a ride because I don't drive. Ugh! And my husband can't miss another day at work, since he is going to take me to my ceremony. I strongly recommend you schedule an infopass appointment.

Can't you find somebody else willing to drive you there if your husband can't take another day off?

I had been waiting for an extremely long time for my invitation to the oath ceremony, so I went in for an infopass.

While I did not recieve the actual invitation letter there, they did tell me exactly when my oath was scheduled, and where.

So, in case something would have been lost in the mail, I would have still made my appointment.

Thank you Karin.

I think I will try to ask my brother in law, the problem is he lives far from here. How do I schedule an infopass? Is it online or by phone?

US Citizenship General DiscussionMissed my Oath Ceremony thanks to USPS!!!!

Did you ever verify with the USCIS what your mailing address was? I had a problem with an Army Service School, because they put VA instead of CA for the state on the labels for my correspondence course materials.

Well, I never had any problem with immigration letters before. What i think that happened it that USPS delivered it to a wrong address and the person who got the letter just destroyed it. Because I got some other people's mail here at home, then I just put it back in the mailbox so the right person can receive it. But it seems like not everybody does that.

So, as I received that email I didn't know if I had to call them again (called them earlier and talked to an Immigration Officer and he told me what happened). Well the email says, if you did not receive the note for the oath ceremony call, so my husband said, I should call. I did and she was having problems transferring the call so she asked me to call in 30 min to 1 hour.

I'm kinda desperate right now.

Totally understand your pain. In my case, USCIS sent my greencard to a wrong address and it took me months to sort it out!

Did you ask them if there is any possibility you can do an infopass appointment and get the oath letter by hand? I saw from some trackers that people were able to get their letters in that way. I would give it a shot. You can explain that you repeatedly called before and were advised to wait 30 days and because of that false advice you are delayed now.

I called USCIS and as our VJ friend Rocks suggested I asked to talk to an ISO (Immigration Services Officer) and he said my Oath date was last Friday, May 11th, after I told him that I was worried about my Oath letter that was never delivered (or it was delivered to another address and the person who got it never sent it back) . I almost cried while talking to him, just started "Oh my God, what am I gonna do now?" and he said a letter was sent to me today saying that for some reason I missed my Oath Ceremony, so he said now I have to wait for this letter to get to me and then send it back so they can reschedule my Oath Ceremony.

I am so upset, you guys have no idea! After a process that lasted over a year I got this additional delay.

What makes me mad, very mad is when I get people's letters on my mail I return them, even advertisement. So why some people receive our stuff, something important and they don't do anything?

Oh, God know, how I'm mad now, frustrated, and I knew there was something wrong, last week I called USCIS on Wednesday and the lady said I should allow 30 days, If she had transferred me to an Officer (something I didn't know we could do) I would have gone to my ceremony.

I'm here now, crying and I hope they reschedule it for me. :crying:

Oh and last night I had a dream that my oath letter was ripped and I was putting the pieces together to see the date.

US Citizenship General DiscussionAfter interview-RFE for IRS transcripts and insurance

Hi everyone,

I should have gone here before I had my interview, I thought after July 17 I would be done. I was soo confident I reviewed, I can answer all the 100 questions :( sadly that was not just about it.

They did not take our Returns instead ask me to bring transcripts, and she said I do not have enough evidence of a viable marriage, I was like WHAT? I do have a child with him, and I gave her our newly purchased house and mortgage papers, credit cards both in our names..

SHe said oh, I needed more like insurance, I said I do have insurance papers they are of course in the car.

So she gave me the form that I have passed the test but need to flll out WR-822 that I needed to provide her the transcripts and insurance papers. She said I can return tomorrow, or send the papers by mail. I said I will try to come today. She said, If you can, come back before 3pm, and I did with all the papers she needed and told me, wait for the decision in the mail..

So I got home and checked my status, it says RFE, i waited a week which is today.. and called USCIS and was able to get to a Tier2 and said they have requested service for my case..

Does this happen to anyone? the tier1 representative told me I have to wait 120 days for a decision.. cmon! what to do?? wait? i am sooo tired of everything..

sory just venting! =( and hopeful that somehow I will receive something after a few weeks..

I did not even know if I got an approval or not :((

The "talking to tier2" part happened to me. It was a little bit too late because I had missed my interview because at first they said I should allow 30 days to receive my oath letter (which had been already sent). I waited less than a week and following advices from VJ members I called and requested to talk to Tier2 (I didn't know we could do that) and he said my oath ceremony had already happened some days ago. Had to schedule an infopass (following VJ's advices again :) ), got new oath letter and had my Ceremony 2 weeks later, thank God!:luv:

I hope you get your Oath letter soon. :)

I agree...people at infopass appointments have always been very kind and helpful.... and.. after all... you did turn up, you were just taken ill.

You've got nothing to lose by making an infopass.

I'm very sorry for what happened. But don't be sad, same thing (well, almost) happened to me: I missed my ceremony because I did not receive the oath letter. So, my letter was never coming and following the advice of some VJ buddies I called USCIS and asked to speak to a Tier 2 officer, who let me know I had missed my ceremony. I felt angry, came back to VJ and people advised me to schedule an infopass, which I did, so next day I was there talking to a nice officer. You can do the same and when there, just let them know when you will be available, or if you prefer, postpone your trip and who knows being scheduled for the next ceremony. :)

Best luck, and don't feel bad, these things happen sometimes.

Looks like she applied too early, just as they said. You can apply up to 90 days prior to the five year anniversary of becoming an LPR. That would have been 90 days prior to Sept. 24, 2012. She just needs to reapply as she is now inside the 90 day window.

US Citizenship General DiscussionMy friend's daughter had Naturalization denied
Hello VJ friends!

So, my friend's daughter had her Naturalization denied. As USCIS explained on the letter she received yesterday, she filed N-400 too early. She must have confused something or messed up the dates.

I thought in these cases they would return the application, but her check was cashed and the application was processed. She had fingerprints taken, interview done, then received this letter of denial yesterday.

Now, my friend is devastated because she helped her daughter with the application so she's blaming herself and she asked me if a lawyer would help. I said, in my opinion it wouldn't because of the date it was filed. But I'm not sure, so I would like to know if someone here could give some suggestions.

Here are some information:

Application: N-400 for daughter
My friend came with K-1 Visa
Daughter came on February 2007 (she was 16 at the time)

She was granted Green Card on September 24 2007

Applied for N-400 on May 11 2012

Spent 52 days abroad on the period 5 years

Moved house on August 10 2012 (moved to another city within the same State)

So, she's asking me when she could refile her application and if there's something she could do with the current denied application.

I'm attaching the letter she received yesterday.

Thank you in advance for the help.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 was returned :(

Yep. OK I think I know what it is. 8/30/12 I thought was them thinking 60 days not 90. But also that is our wedding anniversary. I thought it was ok to apply -90 days since you only have to be married >3 years at time of oath. But obviously not. You have to be married >3years at time of app too. This is true right? I just hadn't read it explicitly.

Although it sucks, consider yourself lucky! My friend's daughter had her naturalization denied for the same reason but the difference is she had her check cashed and application processed. After her interview she received a letter explaining the reason for the denial. I'm gonna post it here on VJ, my friend is devastated because she's blaming herself since she was the one who helped her daughter with the application.

US Citizenship General DiscussionHow Should You Answer the Questions in the Civics Test?
For the questions they asked one answer I memorized one or two, etc. For those that don't specify I memorized them all. I felt safer by doing this.
I converted the CD they gave me, transferred them all to my phone and it was a very tool for studying. I shuffled the tracks so I could memorize everything. Thank God I passed, it worked out very well. And I read the booklet the gave to me too, it helps you understand better what you are answering. Good luck.

US Citizenship General DiscussionIs this true?
I don't think so. My friend's daughter just had her application denied the day before yesterday because she filed N-400 too early (she would be eligible in June but she filed in May). She lost the money she paid for the fee, had fingerprints taken, had interview interview but received a letter denying.. Now she will have to start over from the scratch.
