I have one - If a man / woman has dogged you out, been outright caught out in their lies, totally disrespected you, lied to you and about you - WHY would you give him / her another chance?

a) You're crazy
cool.gif You have low self-esteem
c) You think it's the 'Christian' thing to do, but subconsciously it's really cool.gif
d) You don't want to let the Devil win, but subconsciously it's really cool.gif
e) You have invested too much time, energy etc into the marriage/relationship, but subconsciously it's really cool.gif
f) It was a mistake on his part, everyone deserves a second chance, but subconsciously it's really cool.gif

oh yeah, is anyone here familiar with Hibiscus Lodge? or Mahogany beach? I am looking for a nice location that is not a resort or maybe a villa for rent for the day.

Apparently bookit.com now does installments....sooo if you make the first booking just forward it to them and they make their own along with that. Luvtravelin on here is a travel agent, maybe try pm'ing her to see if she could do anything for you guys!

I think sometimes people see VJ as the only place where they get support for what they are going through. So normally announcements are met with a chorus of support but when all of a sudden, we too are questioning their decision, it's hard to deal with the fact that even the people they thought they could count on now disagree.
I do understand the vital function VJ plays for a lot of people, but like a true friend, VJ tells you what you NEED to consider because we CARE!
And that rings true often for 'non-supportive' friends and family.
They aren't supportive because they are scared for you. Not because they hate you and don't want you to be happy. They assume for whatever reason (ie racism, ignorance, distrust of the age gap, stereotyping) that you're making the wrong decision and are reacting accordingly. Some people are content to allow you to make your own 'mistakes' some are not.
So please don't use the word 'hater' so casually, a true hater would urge you on while celebrating your impending misfortune.

Thank you for your support....was beginning to feel many people here were drinking a likkle to heavy out of the HATERAID punch bowl!! Its one thing to voice your opinion about something....another thing to make assumptions on how things will or won't turn out. It is a well thought out decision and feel no need to put ALL the info on FRONT PAGE on where, when or how everything is being set up to acheive a successful move. Again I'll say, I appreciate the concern for my safety but please lets not use it as an excuse to be mean or haters!

Sorry you feel that way...I think you should go for it, as long as you can financially support yourself for the time you're there and you have a co-sponsor for when you come back!! Also, I don't think Kingston does DCF, so don't count on that!
That being said, I hope it works out, what better way to be able to understand him and how hard his adjustment will be!

Renewing your vows is reafirming your commitment, so why do you feel the need to say the vows again so soo. I would think when you made it on day one, the vows are supposed to be affirmed for life. So, why so soon?

if that is the case, why EVER renew them again?

Because Ja English you are reafirming your commitment to this marriage because over time you and your husband have grown and changed .

I think the FIRST year you're together after marriage is a HUGE thing!! So yes, I was nervous listening to him say the vows again, even after just a year....And since marriages break up after MONTHS, I think renewing was special. In fact, I felt more married after renewing, because the first time felt rushed and didn't feel right without family and friends there....

Yep again. My husband didn't know Kingston...(even got on the wrong bus one time). But he did what he had to do. That money can be used towards the flight. He actually came up the same day he got the visa.

Mi agree wid English an Sus..please!

even the i don't know kingston card is not strong enough JA is but so big...u can get to town an back the same day pon di bus or part bus part route taxi..rent a car stay in a hotel...don't do it..who gonna pay fo this?

To put this in perspective, Kingston is probably 120 miles from Negril.
It is a COMMON thing for people to use a BUS to travel in between. Buses/route taxis start at 4.30am, to get into Kingston by 9am the latest. All the stuff he needs to do, can be done in ONE day, he can go back hime that evening, probably he'll be done 4pm the latest.
Now, the rental for ONE day, I could understand, if you have the money to SPARE, but TWO days, PLUS hotel fee?? IMHO, that is just foolishness, unless you are rich enough to afford it, or HE is going to pay for it himself. This is NOT, I repeat NOT the way things go in Jamaica with the average Joe going to Kingston on business.

Do not see this as an attack, but I'm kinda pissed right now that he expects you to pay for all of this.

No disrespect to your SO, but sometimes if you want good yuh nose haffi run.
Renting a car for 2 days, staying in a hotel etc is something only the WEALTHY could afford to do in Ja, everyone ELSE would get up early and take the bus and deal with it.

Question for your opinions:

What is a good amount of notice to give your family if you're planning a ceremony in Jamaica and will invite them?

1 yr, a couple months, 2 yrs, ????

I would give them as much time as you can - You don't have to give specific dates, just a general heads up as to when it will be - when you nail things down more, then give them specifics. Or, you can be like me and plan it all in 6 weeks, lol

Ok...been having some behavioural issues with my 8 (soon 9 year old)
Been asking for some alternative punishments and my co workers have suggested

making him stand in the corner
making him do yard work for neighbours
making him eat unsweetened oatmeal for dinner
standing in the corner arms outstretched with a can of beans in each hand

Can anyone else suggest some legal and effective punishments??
I have been taking him toys and games away, making him stay in his room, to no avail. So will try these, but would love to hear some more!

That is the Federal Law in every state for Child Support

Here u get to sue the dad no matter what. So what if he doesn’t have a job he still has to pay something and then they give him a certain amount of time to get a job. If not he gets locked up, his driver’s license can be revoked and it goes on his credit. He sits in jail for a while and then they let him out to find a job and if not well back to the slammer buddy…

If you take him back to court, the Judge will enforce it.

I have issues with this and maybe because I don't have kids...but I've seen it done to other people. Actually a mother. See in Florida in order to get any public benefits..insurance/welfare for child you are caring you. You must file child support on the parents.

I just don't see how locking them up, revoking his/her driver's license is even going to "help" (using that word loosely) get a job. It's like a lost cause. Now they have a record...and can't drive to work...which means the likelihood of them finding a new one is going to be harder. So they already aren't paying..I'm sure they are not worried about no credit score.

Then the effect on the child...I mean now are they really going to try to be in their life now. Shoot...they will be in jail half the time.

There has just to be a better way to enforce child support.

Just my view on it. I admit it might be because I haven't experienced this.

i think it's a FANTASTIC idea, in the sense that men OFTEN play the system as regards child support, ie they pretend they can't get job or they aren't working.
Now, they got the woman pregnant, the CHILD is there, if it's working in MCDONALD"S they had better take it. Now the ONLY way I feel sorry for them is if there are NO jobs to be had, but I am SURE there's SOMETHING there.
