What a day I'm having. So, I called to schedule my SO visit with the civil surgeon and I'm told he has to do a full physical. I thought all they had to do was verify the vacinnation records. I have a copy of his medical from Jamaica. Someone help me before I start pulling out my eyelashes. I had to go change my clothes. My beautiful off white linen dress is now BROWN, because of that clumsy ediat.

Mawning Family,

Question: I am helping a friend of mine put her K1 stuff together for her Honey's interview. Here's the thing. Her SO is Jamaican, but works in Aruba. (Kinnda like Principessa) Because Aruba does not have an Embassy he will be going to Venezula.

He does not have to drop off his DS-230 ahead of time b/c of the expense of taking a flight to Caracas to drop off one piece of paper. They allow them to bring it with them upon the interview. The embassy called him and advised him that his interview is 7/22/08.

Here is my question...He was unaware that JA had issued new BC's. He only has his old one. Do you think the Caracas Embassy will know about the new J'can Birth Certificate? I also don't think he has the letter stating that he is free to marry(tooo early ...can't think of the correct name laughing.gif). He has his divorce papers for JA. Would he need the free to marry on top of the Divorce decree?

Ok, thanks ya'll!

Love & blessings,

Gill

I would have him go with what he has.
THEN go back with everything if need be!!

Unlikely they'll be trying to make his life a misery like the JA Embassy does!!

In the meantime, hasn't he got anyone that could get the stuff for him in Jamaica?
Dud he get a packet 3 from them?

That would tell him.
Or she could phone the Embassy there and ask 'what should he bring?'

Sunny, I think the Bus from Ochi to Kingston only runs twice a day - early am and late night - he's probably better off dealing with a taxi, since he has to be there mid-day. It might be a bit more expensive, but it should be faster - DJ took the bus one night and we talked for about an hour while it was sitting on the side of the road - it had stopped so that people could use the bathroom and get food.

No, there are route taxis that go throughout the day!!

He may have to change in Spanish Town though.

I would be AMAZED if there were only TWO buses that ran!!

The woman at MoBay Hope said a copy would be in the 'DO NOT OPEN TIL YOU REACH THE US' packet...IT WAS NOT!!! mad.gif You will need it when you file the AOS...it's cheaper than going through the whole dyam thing again!

Gill, just be prepared in case they give you an RFE for it.
I actually had mine transcribed by a civil surgeon and STILL got an RFE for the ENTIRE medical, despite filing before my medical was out of date.

OFF TOPIC )))))

Hey all....question about the AOS. Someone just PM'd me and asked this and it got me to thinking. The question was..."How long after we get married, do we have to officially File the AOS?"

I'm thinking they give us a certain amount of time to send the AOS packet in once you're married but does anyone actually know how long we have?????? wacko.gif

Secondly, they asked whether or not their fiance would be able to "keep" his job while waiting for the permanent EAD.....once the 90 day work permit expires? I told her it probably would be up to the employer but that more than likely, her fiance would NOT be allowed to continue working and would have to wait to get the EAD in the mail. I've heard of some people getting "RE-Hired" once they have the EAD but how likely is that????

Anybody have thoughts on these topics? If so.....PM me with what u know or write back smile.gif

Me & dave are in the same situation when the time comes, so any info would be helpful! LOL

There is no 'set' time.
TECHNICALLY, you are out of the status the minute you get married.
But overstays are of course forgiven.
I would try and file at least before 3 or 4 months though.
Ok, as for the EAD stamp. No it is NOT legal for him to continue working once it's expired.
But as far as he goes, the USCIS forgives working while not authorized.
Re-hiring all depends on the employer.

She will only take express milk from my mom if I am not home. She will only eat 3oz from her and won't sleep. She just waits for me to get home so I never leave her a lot. I would love to get an outfit for her baptism this Sunday for me so I am hoping my mom can sit for an hour and she won't need food.

JA then do you never leave him if he won't take Expressed milk?

When he was younger, he would drink SOME, since he's been like 6 months, he won't drink any at all....I have never really left him longer than 4 hours. To be honest though, no baby will starve themselves.
I know for us we can't stand the thought of them been hungry or thirsty, but if they want the milk badly enough, they'll take it!

I ask my pediatrician about taking her to the beach and she advised against it. She said no sunscreen or bug repellent on her yet at 3 months. She should be in the shade at all times if possible. I have summer hats but they don't fit her head and I have one that matches her bathing suit too. I hope she fits in by the time we get there. She needs to gain some more weight. I am hoping we can take her to the beach at night. wacko.gif I am just wondering about nursing if I should be swimming at all. My daughter refuses the bottle. She gets very colic if you try to feed her formula. She use to take until she was one month old. We are wondering if we need to switch brands. But we have only gone threw one can big can of formula so far. I am hoping she will start taking formula again because it would be nice for Grandma to babysit why we are in Jamaica.

There is no problem that you are nursing as regards swimming.
I know your pediatrician has advised against insect repellent, but there are two ways you can do it.
Either find a natural insect repellent which does not contain chemicals ( I know they have them, will ask my friend in Jamaica about the name), or what you can do is take a course of vitamin C tablets which will filter to her in your breast milk.

My son is almost 10 months, he refuses to even drink expressed breast milk!!
He was very colicky too, the only thing that was good for him was the breast.

Have you tried her with expressed milk?

Best of luck Lawny! star_smile.gif

Ladies,

Although I am not sure if we are going through the whole process, I haven't cancelled my petition. Well, a friend of mine who works for the DOJ has a friend who works for USCIS and did some investigating for me. She said my petition is still going through security checks because I "recently" became a U.S. Citizen (mind you I went through the Naturalization was six years ago!).... so who knows how much longer it will be.. just wondering if any of the vets has gone through this or know of anyone who has?

I don't sad.gif

I didn't know this happened, probably this was why some petitions were delayed, but rather the delay being attributed to the security checks, people just knew it took ages to be approved....

Roxcie

I have 10 years law enforcement experience, combined with extensive statement taking, so would love something like insurance investigation, basically stuff like taking statements in a legal capacity, and/or investigation.
Barring that, I have been eying stuff like cable installation, have no experience but I understand those kind of jobs often don't require previous experience.
I have also experience of train driving, wouldn't mind doing that again.....

I guess I just want a job that pays reasonably well and I don't have to wear a suit!!!

Well here is the thing.. I went to Maine college of Art. I live in a very Artsy community. There is alot of money in this area with B&W art pictures. I have a digital camera and use it all the time. I love it! But I also have a manual 35mm camera that I do film shots with. I have done some Sr pictures for people. Also portraits shots and sold some of my B&W shots that I have done myself. My film camera is actually very old and takes wonderful pictures, I have been offered some good money for it but I wont sell it. It was a gift when I started college. Now I have and an entire darkroom it just hasnt been set up since I had Tierra. I love being in a darkroom creating my photos, it is very rewarding.
In order to make good money I would have to use the digital but for Art shows and sales I would use my film/B&W shots.

That definitely sounds good!!

Maybe now Louis is here and you have more support you could do that on the side!!

I would love to see your stuff, do you have anything online?

Girl, if you're talking about DARKROOMS, you have been out of the loop!!

To be honest, with the strides that have been made in digital technology, you would be ill-advised to get a film camera....And also, rather than set up a home studio, all you need is a space big enough to set up your background!!
Unless of course you have the extra space to spare!!!

Do you have a studio? What do you use for backgrounds?

Was thinking about this and yes I know what you mean.
I love photography, but I think the market is not only over-saturated with photography, but most people buy a point and shoot digicam and just take their own instead of hiring a photographer.
Photography for me is a serious hobby, but I have no plans to do it full time. Again, photography is mostly free-lance, I would be scared to rely on it to pay the rent!!
Most of the money I make goes straight back into buying accessories, even though now I have pretty much everything I need!!
Also, I have bought stuff like a camera battery grip, external flash battery, so my operating costs are almost nil....
