No, it won't hurt his chances of obtaining the K1 visa. He can be in the US for the entire process if he has another visa that allows it. He would just need to go back to the UK for his embassy appointment. smile.gif

You just made my day!! thank you so much!!! star_smile.gif

The terminology is blowing in the wind here. First USCIS doesn't handle visa applications. Second, you haven't made it clear whether he's applying for a J1 visa or already has one. The answer quoted above assumes he already has it. If that's the case, it's correct.

According to the OP, the fiancee has has J1-s before and never overstayed, but from what I know of J1's issued for summer work, he would probably need to re-apply for it so that he can work at said summer camp during this coming up summer.

The question really is not how many visas can be applied for simultaneously because you could apply for every kind of visa there is and still be granted no visa(s). USCIS is not the place to ask questions about applying for visas. For your fiance, they would deal with YOUR petition, not his or anybody's visa application and then later with his applications to adjust status, work authorization, advance parole, removal of conditions and naturalization.
The OP states in the original post, that she not only contacted USCIS, but also the "local State Visa office", so she did not only contact USCIS.

If he has a J1 visa for the purpose of working at the camp, chances are he can use it regardless of where things stand with his K1 case. If he's needing to apply for a new J1 visa, that could get much more complicated, depending on timing and other factors we have no knowledge of.

There is no such thing as a local state visa office. Perhaps she asked a local USCIS office.

I'm aware of that....and I don't think she would have phrased her sentence "Now I called the USCIS and the local State Visa office and they both said you can have apply for as many visa's as you want" if she had contacted two different offices of the same entity (USCIS). Her phrasing indicates she contacted USCIS and another entity, which she names incorrectly. I was merely pointing out that the did not just contact USCIS to get an answer to her visa related question, which is what your post implied. Perhaps you should not speculate on what local office the OP contacted to get her information and just answer the original question.

-P

Or....maybe you just give your answer and I'll give mine? Works for me.

Well Thank you all so much for all the input-- Perhaps I worded wrong but I did contact a VISA office that issued his j-1's in the past -- that's where I got the information from-- and He is applying for his j-1 now-- he would be arriving in May -- now if he gets the visa it's ok that wont hault progress on our k-1?? And he could still be turned away at the POE with the J-1-- cause unfortunatley he lives with his family so has no bills and also is self employed.... what are things we can do to insure them he will come back to the UK?? Like I said before he has never violated it before and we don't intend to now -- we just want to work at camp and be waiting and working rather than not-- and he certainly is planning to go back, we want to do this right.

and again I really appreciate all the help! star_smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI'm just not sure... I need some help...
So my Fiance and I met at the camp we work at. And here's my question-- we applied for the k-1 in October and have since been waiting for our NOA2 but while we were waiting he was hired back to our camp job-- Now I called the USCIS and the local State Visa office and they both said you can have apply for as many visa's as you want. So I said "so it wont hurt our chances for him to come to camp with his J-1 visa while we are waiting for our NOA2??" and he said no. So I'm wondering if this is true-- I would not want to hurt our chances of being rejected -- but he has never violated his J-1 and this will be his 3rd summer at the camp so he's not just coming for me but the job and money to save for our new life together. If any of you out there have some information I would be so appriciative. Thank you

I also think you guys will be fine good.gif he got a J1 visa approved for the second time and there were no problems obtaining that one. To my knowledge Camp J1 Visas are not usually subject to the 2 year residency requirement. This will be indicated on your DS2109 Form - good to have a copy of that at interview for proof I reckon. Best o fluck, almost there!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPlease Help!! Interview questions
So good news is that we just got our NOA2 form!!! and now we started researching about the interview-- and we might have run into a problem and this is where you alls help is needed-- Ok When my fiance first arrived before we met he came in to the country on a J1 visa now-- on the plane he was confused and filled both the white and green form out because he wasn't sure which one to fill out-- when he got to the POE they just took the form that was for a travel visa --- BUT in his passport was his J1 to work for this camp-- he came to camp and worked and only found out later that he filled out the wrong form and the camp never resolved it-- he came back again last year on a J1 with no problems and filled out the correct form and also camp and visited on a tourist visa with no problem-- SO will his mistake that he made 2 years ago decide the fate for our approving of the K!??? Please help we're both FREAKING OUT!!! thanks so much

We just got our interview date at the embassy: June 18th! kicking.gif The timing is perfect, I will be down there visiting her from the 9th to the 21st. For those of you still waiting for your NOA2s, you are in my thoughts. I pray that you receive your approvals soon. Once you do, everything really does move much more quickly. Best of luck to everyone and thank you for your support.

Just a tip to speed things up- i dont know if this will work in Columbia but i was told i could do it in Trinidad. the Trini mail is notoriously slow- i sent my woman a card last year and she still hasnt gotten it- so i asked the embassy ahead of time, if she could pick up her packets and drop them off. they said yes. that could cut out a week [ or in Trinidad, more ] of time and waiting. like i said, might not be able to - but worth a shot to ask. Good luck!

Yeah the Colombia mail is also very slow. We actually just read in the Colombia embassy section that we can send in the packet 3 forms as soon the embassy receives our approved petition. Fortunately, Alejandra lives pretty close to the embassy so she is going to drop that off tomorrow instead of sending it by mail. Hopefully we will have the interview date very soon. Thanks for the tip. Best of luck to you!

The NVC automated system doesn't work for K1 visas for some reason-i phoned it first and the automated message told me that it hadn't received our case, but then i spoke to an advisor and they told me that they had received it and also that it had been sent to the embassy. So you should ring back and speak to someone x

Thanks for the info! I just called NVC and spoke with someone this time and they said it was sent a week ago!

Congrats! Happy for you- looks like your case is sliding thru without any delays [you got your NOA2 fast! ] makes you wonder why some cases are taking so long. in my case, i had an RFE which i'm sure is causing the delay, but others havent. Anyway, good luck to you. I'm sure you two will be in the states together soon.

Thank you very much! Everything has been going really well. Today I called the Department of State and they said that the embassy received our petition and already sent my fiancee Packet 3. Hopefully she gets it sometime this week. Best of luck to you too. It appears that most people get their NOA2 approvals pretty soon after they send in their RFE.

I think your timeline looks doable. Just one more thing to consider. Shortly after biometrics, we received a letter for an interview. It was 2 weeks later. Our situation was very unusual from what I have seen on here as interviews are rare in ROC and usually months after filing, but it also happened for another January filer. You will want to be sure that someone is checking your mail in case you get an interview letter or RFE as well. I don´t know about all local offices, but our letter had an option on the back to check a box and write an explanation if for some reason we needed to reschedule the interview. I was shocked at how quickly the whole thing happened, but then of course they took over 2 months to approve us after the interview. Even though it is highly unlikely that the same thing would happen to you, just make sure someone is watching your mail in case.

Thank you very much for your suggests... i got someone that will watch my mail... Posted Image

how soon does the NOA1 letter typically arrive after submitting the I-751? The website says that the appointment for the biometrics usually arrives within 30 days of the application.
Thanks for any input!

You must do your biometrics before you leave, wait for the extension letter and bio letter. You should receive them before Aug, so your dates do look doable.

Hello everybody,
just filed my Petition to Remove the Conditions on Residence on 06/07/2012, my green card expire 07/12/2012.
Me and my wife bought tickets for Italy and we planned to stay from 08/02/2012 to 08/18/2012.
Now, my questions are: can i still go to Italy during this process?
Is there an application to fill out and have permission to go in Italy?

Thank you for your help

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance (e) mailing address

Hello,

just wondering if the address that is indicated in form I-129 for fiance(e) used by embassies as a mailing address where they send package 3,4? Can this mailing address be different from the address of fiance(e) place of residence? Can this address be changed after I-129 was already submitted by petitioner?

Thanks a lot for the answers.

Hi, in Russia they do not sand package to fiancé(e), It is all done online. Fiancé(e) brings all required docs that have printed off the internet. You should get email from embassy with link. http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ru . There you will have place to put address for visa delivery. It can be different from I-129.

The wait time varies so widely. I received my first NOA in 4 days after mailing my I751, I was so confident I'd get the biometrics appointment quickly too but its been about 3 weeks and I haven't received it yet. I need to travel out the country, I don't know if I should go and reschedule the appointment. I called USCIS but all I was told is if you haven't received it in 30 days then call back, another rep said 45 days. I'm so confused. Has anyone rescheduled a biometrics appointment? How easy/difficult was it?

i personally think this is someone with an axe to grind , but its worth reading. the girl in question that was banned works for the condo place, and introduced me to Yove ,and Yove never used CB before.

as for my fight with the government i found out i ruffled a lot of feathers  the senator's office told me that i made my problem well known to everyone. she laughed said she would hate to be on my bad side.

she sent me this link to let me see how well she deals with immigration issues i was impressed

hope PW you get your appt. and kick your soon to be Atawa in the butt tell him to start screaming it works

hello everyone long time no post thought I would share this for those of you getting your visa's

very very important once you get to America file for your SSN (you can do it before your marriage)

file for your AOS and EAD ASAP

we had a problem with Yove's SSN they didn’t put in her middle initial, or did put it in. and it caused a 2 month delay that made me get screaming mad storming into my congressman’s office etc etc. for those of you long time posters probably know my screaming temper tantrums at government officials is pretty well documented.

Now Yove risks losing a great job in Boston on august 3. needless to say i spent all morning screaming at USCIS who told me there’s nothing they will do because its SSA fault for the delay not there’s ( WRONG ANSWER TO GIVE ME ) I called senator John Kerry office senator Ed Kennedy’s office and congressman dellahunts office ,and called channel 7, 4 and 5 as well as the Boston Globe and Herald. (im anything but discrete) Sen. Kennedy's office called me they had gotten my message ,and a call from the herald asking about what they were going to do. ive been assured that if there's anyway that the senators office can help they will. and they told me not to worry she wont lose her job.

the squeaky wheel gets the grease. and i know how to squeak :P

Here is some info for everyone. Rosemarie passed her physcial today

4,940 pesos payable in cash at St Lukes

She stayed at a hotel near the ctr for 1,300 peso a nite, but I forgot to ask the name.

She showed up at 0430 for the first day and still got a ticket with number 50

Was out of there by 1;30 pm the first day, 12;30 the next day. She received 2 vaccines on her second day

I dont agree with some posters about the usefulness of info from this board ; this is why. The problems get started with the orginal visa petition here in the states . So if you have submitted sketchy information, or partial information it is allready too late.

Now I am not knocking any of this. We are all in this together and this board is full of great people and great info , but the devil is in the details and how the orginal info and petition is submitted. This is my humble opinon

I would not get any documents to early, espically not sending over the I-134 before you get your notice from consulate for your interview date, or real close to that date.

Good luck to all ; we are online for May 16 th for the interview

regards
Brad

We did try to encourage the "lurkers" to get themselves listed. Maybe, they're too shy, I don't know. I'll try to keep this thread alive until after we're done with the May interviews. And if we don't get any additional listing, we don't have much choice but to just let this thread die a natural death...

... but someone else can resuscitate it later :innocent:

Don't worry, i'll be waiting for awhile. People at the NSO in Manila do nothing fast, they said they would send my fiancee's BC back to the LR for over 3 weeks now and they haven't. They keep saying "oh, we will send it tomorrow maybe" Very annoying for us cause we are just waiting on them so we can get a new interivew date. We've tried to explain that but they really don't care :( We were hoping for August but i don't see that happening now :clock:  Hehe, always bad news!

i hate to say it windchaser but i think the only way to get this done is to pay them money it may be the only way to get it done. corruption is everywhere youve been doin it the proper way and its not goin anywhere i think offering them money is your only option to get them to do there jobs. sad to say it but it looks like otherwise your spinning your wheels

p.s. yove arrived last night :D thank you to everyone for all there helpful info
