Depending on whether you have a K-1 or K-3 visa (or otherwise), the forms you need for your visa can be found and downloaded from here. Your Packet 3 should explain which ones you need to fill in.

Hope that helps smile.gif.

Magpie.

Im doin the K-1 visa... do i need to send in a full copy of my passport to?

Congrats! Did you set that wedding date after you received the visa or did the embassy cut it pretty close? If so, that must have been incredibly frustrating and stressful!

Regardless, best of luck to you both!

Well the wedding is on sunday!

Congrats on all recent interview approvals, awesome news!

I'm still waiting on my visa, 2 weeks and 2 days so far...I only had to send in my mother-in-law's proof of nationality and that went in on April 29th, they had it on May 1st, so 12 days ago now. The lady at the interview said they were processing in 4 working days, so I'm quite concerned. I phoned the extortion line yesterday and spent 4.80 pounds finding out they didn't know anything about any cases that were "post-interview", so I should only call them once a month has passed, which really sucks as I was due to start my new job last week. I found the email on the wiki and emailed them like 30 minutes ago (can't sleep!) and got a reply stating they'd deleted my email without reading it...I also sent the same email to SCSLondon AT state.gov. I didn't get a deleted response from that, but I don't think it's the correct department....so fingers crossed there is a good samaritan that will just let me know what's going on.

Hi Paul,

I didn't realise you were from Taunton too....

It might be worth calling DOS instead of the extortion line. Their number is 202-663-1225.They will be able to look at the current status when you call (IE: Confirm they have recieved additional information and it is being processed) When you email London you have to input a code or your emails will get deleted without being read. You can call the extortion line to find out the current code.

Also bear in mind there was a public holiday just after you sent the information back, so essentially it's been 7 working days. There are a few people here experiencing delay's with regard to getting their passports back too.

I hope you can find something out soon.

Hey

Im going thought the same thing I sent my off on the 1st and they got it on the 5th because of May Day. I know it hard but what can you really do..... not much you can do about it, all you can do is wait (plus i hate the word wait that all iv heard off family and friend :@) Plus every night i get less and less sleep, every night i think am i going to get a txt 2mor or not :| (plus my hopeful wedding is on the 24th of this month and that my mum and sis are waiting to get plane tickets too)

Hi, I had to send docs back last week too. I called the courier at lunchtime on Thursday and they said they were unable to collect the same day, i'm not sure if its because it was too late then or if they can't do same day collections? So they collected Friday and delivered it Monday! The embassy will not accept courier'd items the same day for security reasons. So my docs were delivered yesterday and it was logged onto the system today, but no approval just yet, fingers crossed I will get it tomorrow!!

ok thanxs i should get the paper work tomorrow at noon! I wonder if i phone them in the morning and get a pick up at 1/2ish time? did you send them with the blue paper too?

Oh no!

Our co-sponsor said "do intend" and specificed room and board for a few months, but my fiance said "do not intend" as it asked for 'specific contributions' and duration etc.. considering the text on the form says that the sponsor is agreeing to generally support me, I didn't think we MUST tick that box?? sad.gif

We also only have a birth certificate as proof of US citizenship for the co-sponsor. Since when did they ask for passports only?

Alix didnt tick a box and put N/A as applying for K1 and i think the co-sponsor has to intend.

hope that helps smile.gif

Congratulations, guys!

What was wrong with the 134 if you don't mind me asking? Just to stop any possible delays..

Why do they need driving license and passport? We only have a birth certificate for the co-sponsor, if that will suffice..

Sorry to hear that you and Tom are no longer together, Laura. I'm glad to hear that you're putting things into perspective and getting your life back after waiting so long. Having a nice new flat will be really good for you.

Congrats to Paul and Alixhilary on your approvals!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

@paul. : I am wondering the same thing as Gemmie, I have included a copy of the bio page of co-sponsor's passport as well as a copy of the naturalization certificate of the co-sponsor to prove that the co-sponsor is a USC. But I did not know that you needed TWO proofs for proving that the co-sponsor is a USC? Were you specifically told what documents the co-sponsor should send you to prove that he/she is a USC???

@Alixhilary: As Gemmie asked, we would also like to know what you mean by "there were a few things wrong with the I-134". It would help the rest of us not make the errors if you would like to share what was wrong with your forms yes.gif

@Moira: Have a look at my post here about what to include in the email/format to the embassy: http://www.visajourn...h...t&p=2869382

@Laura: Wishing you all the best in life...hope that you find your self moving on to better and happier things ASAP!!!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquick question about marrying in China...

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am a U.S. citizen going to marry a girl in China and I was just wondering what kind of documentation I need to bring with me to China? Thanks a lot

You will need a letter stating that you are single. This letter needs to be notarized and sent into your state office for an approval seal, and then sent to a Chinese Consulate in your state area to have it approve. Once that is done you are ready to be married...

Or if you are in China now, go to a US Consulate office and have the single status letter notarized... here is a better website to get your answers. http://cflgallery.com/forums/index.php?

Hey everyone! Now I've wanted to visit Colombia for yearsssssss and believe my dream will finally come true. Hubby and I want to fly to Bogota in the beginning of August and stay for about 10 days.
I've found tickets for $304 roundtrip Orlando/Bogota. Any ideas of where I can get an even better deal?
If possible, it'd be nice to fly to Bogota and fly back from Cartagena or vice versa since I want to visit those cities plus Medellin (of course).

Thanks in advance!
Meredith

Never mind smile.gif I bought the tickets. My dream is finally going to come true. We're going for 12 days in August!

You are going to have a great time! Are you going to Cartagena and Bogota? $304 for round trip is really good, I just paid $470 for my trip in June to Bogota but that's probably because I fly from Boston. Enjoy your trip!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3 or easier to wait for I-130?

Hello -
First I would like to thank everyone for the invaluable information you provide on this site.

I am hoping to get some clarification on an issue that NVC won't answer directly, and I'm confused about some details. My I-130 was approved a month before my 1-129, and I recieved the AOS bill about the same day the 1-129 was approved (I haven't returned it yet). I called NVC and was told that I can either persue the K-3 visa or continue with the I-130 depending on my "preference". Obviously, I want my wife to be here as quickly as possible (NVC has my I-129 paperwork already and I'm waiting for them to forward to the consulate). So does this mean if we go with the K-3, the I-130 is no longer relevant? I ask because the NVC agent expressed his disbelief that people actually "pay twice" to file the both the I-129 and I-130 because one fee is lost regardless. And once she gets in the country with the K-3, am I correct the we have to file the Ajustment of Status I-485...basically re-doing the I-130?

Also, does anyone know from experience if it is simply easier to wait for the I-130 to be processed for the immigrant visa, or get her here and deal with the hassels of the I-485? Any thoughts?

I hope this makes sense...

Thanks!

I-130
4/14/07 - I-130 Approved (72 days)
5/21/07 - AOS Bill Recieved

I-129
5/18/07 - I-129 Approved (91 days)
5/29/07 - NVC Received

I-130 is still relevant even if you decide to take the K3 route. It just means that you will have to adjust status once your wife gets to the United States. All K3 applicants and CR1/IR1 applicants have to file I-130. Once the I129F paperwork gets to the consulate, it will probably take them about 2 months to schedule the K3 interview. I would hope that the NVC processing of I130 is done by then and the information is received by the consulate. This way you can change the K3 interview into CR1/IR1 interview and thus not have to worry about adjusting status once your wife is in United States. But if your K3 interview is scheduled before the consulate receives the paperwork for CR1/IR1 visa, then you will have the choice of either taking K3 interview or to wait for the CR1/IR1 interview which could be one or two month later depending on how fast the NVC processes your CR1 petition and how fast you send the required documents.

All correct except you WILL have to follow through with your part through the NVC process or the I-130 will just sit there. The status adjustment fee is going to $1,010. July 30, if that is a major consideration for you. You avoid that by sticking with the CR1 or getting lucky and using the K3 interview date for CR1.

If you're looking for easy, stick with the CR1. The K3 is on autopilot anyway. If you're in a hurry, just get her here as quickly as possible and pay the piper.

Thank you all very much for the help. That is exactly what I wanted to know.
