question for some of the AR people after spending weeks tryin to figure the reason for AR's, and after speaking to several sources (immigration officials, lawyers, political aids and manila itself) ive found that most AR's are do to the fiancee being over 25 for reason to verify no previous marriages as being the no#1 reason.

im curious for those that are waiting for AR's if they are over 25. and if so is there any documents that those that are over 25 can get to verify no other marriages exist????

p.s. i know better then to ask a lady her age :D so im just asking for yes to being over 25

Hello to all the Manila Visa Journeyers,

Glad to become a part of this forum. I know everyone will be surprised as to why I have been on AR for quite a while now. I know, I know it is very frustrating. :crying: Well, I had a brief story on here before but it was also archived and now missing. Anyway here is my timeline:

PW,

done! here's the link to the thread. I dont have a copy of my appointment letter though. They took it on the day of my interview. and silly me, i didnt make an extra copy

Wow, big kudos to you. That couldn't come at a better time. We're scheduled for a March 30th interview and still waiting for the packet to arrive.

This may seem like a dumb question, but, how did you find out your interview date without receiving the packet first? I have a link from a couple months ago that shows all interview dates (based on case #)for Feb. and March....is there a new posting for April and May? Thanks :)

You can call the State Dept and ask. There number is 202 663 1225 press1 then 0 then 0.

i hope you don't have an AR but really what are you expecting the congressman's office to do within the first few days of an AR?

Unfortunately delays are a part of this process and we do have to accept them. If you beleive your fiance will gat an AR then it seems that really all you can do is make sure she finds out exactly what she needs to do to remedy it. I know you call manila quite often and that is good, but it seems that you have all the information you alrady need without involving a congressman who really cannot do anything unless the situation really gets out of hand.

I guess i am just trying to dispel the myth that a congressman has some kind of real power at the consulate level when really just calling manila as you already do helps you as much, if not more than, a congressmans aide doing it. Because i get so tired of people going through vermont and not getting a noa2 within 2 weeks asking "should i call my congessman?" of course we all know manila is not a consulate for the faint of heart, but still i would not put much faith in a congressman's office aide in being able to do much.

just my 2 cents

note the vermont crack wasn't intended for anyone having real problems or anyone on this post. thanks

well i look at things in a buisness view the bigger the person calling asking the more response you recieve. i own 2 used car dealerships, and i take an extremely lean salary choosing to reinvest the bulk of my profits back into the buisness im told that it may cause the AR. i havent gotten where i am by sitting down waiting. im very blunt and make sure that if theres an issue thats its fast tracked in every way possible. no offense to anyone, but im not the type that can sit back an wait im the guy that makes a lot of noise the guy you want to get rid of ,and never have come back. lol i had an issue at an auction where there was a delay in a title being made available. i went to the dealership i bought it from, and found out the person who process the paperwork was off training someone then had vacation an it would be 2 weeks till i got it. needless to say i made such a commotion i got it that day, and if i buy a car from them since then they dread my call to find out where the title is. i've had door shut in my face by town officials when i was expanding my buisness, the 1/4 page add i put in the paper that week about the lack of leadership in the town wasnt appreciated ,and they gave me what i wanted to get rid of me. just my personality its not bad just extremely aggressive. i doubt theres any person on these boards that would do less to get the fiancee over here in america.

No news, i will let you all know if there's any change. Can't believe it's only been a week, i do hate waiting

Ah well...

JB has your fiancee contacted there local congressman office?? they can clear things up in most cases. i'm 90% sure we're goin to get an AR and have made sure im on a first name basis with everyone in my congressmans office. they cant do anything till an AR is made ,but they can speed things up

ok i spoke to sandy at the embassy ( the only person that has a clue) she says that age is a big reason for ARs . 90% of the reason for the AR's is the interviewers discreation. i looked on the web and if you search on google & yahoo type " manila and admin reviews" you'll see in other forums that even in 2003 this was an issue.

by the way she (sandy) had no idea about this forum ,and her no# being posted. i invited her to check it out she was very amused. hopefully she may post here, but i doubt she will.

ive told yovemyl (my fiancee) to get everything she can get just in case... her mothers an fathers birth certificates and marriage certificate letters of reference from her pastor baptism records etc etc... she may not need it, but better to have all bases covered.

Good news....finally! I called DOS at 6am here in Cali and I only waiting for 5 mins. I was so excited that we have interview date I forgot to ask our medical interview so I had to call again. :D

Interview date April 11, 2006 at 6:30 am. Medical interview on April 4, 2006. They mailed the packet last Feb 13 but my fiance havent recieve anything. U guys think our packet is lost? Thanks...

nope its not really sent i found out that there not really sent till a few weeks before ( i have no idea why they say its sent earlier). you can go to st lukes and pick up the package, and you can go to the medical 1 month before your interview yove's medical is april 11th but she is goin march 20th. i suggest goin early as the medical can take a few days in some cases. yove is goin to take the CFO before the interview to so she can just get a stamp when she has her visa

Just stupid question...if our papers had been recvd already by manila embassy...y call DOS here in US? Should I be calling manila instead if we already have interview date? Thanks for all your help!

well the best way to explain dealing with the manila embassy hmmmmmm ok take a nail place it against a 4x4 board of oak wood and use your head as a hammer. the manila embassy 18 dollar for 3 phone calls is a complete joke they didnt know yove (my fiancee)had her appt. but the state dept did. all they can tell you is what you can find for free on there web page. the state dept call is free except for local phone charges.

embassy = frustration aggrivation and costly
state dept = cheap easy and informative

That's not Manila, it's from the DOS. I can't remember where it was but they don't use the years tax returns until that July date. Of course then they don't use the new poverty guidelines until then either. According to what i read. I don't see the big deal, you don't have to file until April 15th so why would they use the tax returns?

spoke to sandy at the embassy she said june is date they will accept 2005 tax returns, but if you have them completed they will use them. sandy is at +6325286300 hit 7 then 5184# shes in charge of the operation unit immigration branch. shes a filipina ,but has a very good grasp of what you need for your interview and extremely over worked took 20 attempts to get through. i will also call the state dept. to double check. i covered my bases with mine anyways i had my buisness appraised by a law firm. i draw an extremely lean salary ,and throw 90% back into my car dealership so im usually below the poverty level my 2005 i put myself above the poverty level. so i hope that 2005 is accepted

called the state dept they said its up to the embassy but that its not required till june but that most will use it if needed

I wouldn't get too excited about it yet, Dano--Lye just got hers two days ago, and it was supposedly mailed on Jan 26th...and she lives in Paranaque.

Hope you get it soon, though! :D

ya but the weird thing is we've sent over 14 faxs (over 10 week period) called several times and they dont seem to be able to correct her address. plus she live less then 15 minutes from the embassy i think its a bit weird that mail takes 10+ days to be delievered in the same town. i know yove gets her bills on time so im sure the mail system cant be that much worse then the U.S. mail

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 dates and Part 10: additional questions
About the dates, I found out that the instruction itself shows an example as mm/yyyy format. So I think it is OK to put months only as long as the months are correct. ^_^
blackdog_harryFemale02010-03-01 19:01:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 dates and Part 10: additional questions
Thanks for the reply! If I am not sure about the exact date, do I just write down months only and leave date blank or put an approximate day? Which option do people usually take - either just putting months or putting dates by approximation?

About the guideline, what I meant was that the guideline seems outdated because there are no YES/NO questions from 1-15 in Part 7 & 1-5 in part 8 in the 1/22/09 edition of NR-400. I wanted to know for what part I need to add a written explanation if I answer either Yes or No. Now I am confused if I have to add an explanation for affiliations if I am a member of some professional organizations...

--
If you answer “Yes” to any of Questions 1 through 15 in Part 7 of form N-400, send:
A written explanation on a separate sheet of paper.

If you answer “No” to any of Questions 1 through 5 in Part 8 of form N-400, send:
A written explanation on a separate sheet of paper.
--

If you know the month and year you are fine. A clear, close and honest approximation is fine too if you can't remember the exact day.

It doesn't have to fit the guidelines, it has to be your honest answer. Don't copy anything just because it's on the internet. It has to be your response not someone else's.

Yes, you should be able to complete this for all by yourself without the help of a lawyer. If you've been affiliated to American Psychology Association, American Nursing Association you can to put that on the form. No explanation is needed unless the form specifically mentions you need to that for that particular question. Yes, you can also mention the honor society from college.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 dates and Part 10: additional questions
The N-400 form requires exact dates (mm/dd/yy) for residence, employment, school etc. But for most of them I am not sure what the exact date the event was although I am certain about the year and the month. If I end up being off in dates, would that be a problem? I am particularly worried about moving dates because I filed AR-11 but don't have a copy for it. Anyone who had the same experience with these dates in N-400?

Also. about part 10. additional questions, I am guessing most people would answer NO to questions from 1 to 33 and YES from 34 to 39. This doesn't fit with the guidelines I found in VisaJourney: http://www.visajourn...alization_guide

Anyone with updated information?

Also, what is the Affiliation question (No. 8 in Part 10) for? It asks if I have ever been a member of or associated with any organization, association, fund foundation, party, club, society, or similar group in the US or in any other place? If I am a member of professional organization related to my job such as American Psychology Association, American Nursing Association, etc. do I put that in? And if so, I have to provide additional explanation for that? Would an honor society from college count for this question?

It seems that I should be able to file N-400 myself without asking a lawyer but the form is not entirely clear to me.

Thanks so much in advance!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 Approval notice from CSC???
Hi, I am preparing a I-751 to submit to VSC next week and having a tough time.

Could you tell me what email notification is? Does a Service center notify applications by e-mail about the status of their petitions? I don't recall any field in the form that asks about the applicant's e-mail. So I am confused...

Thanks!!!

I was approved via email notification and I have already received my new card but the other email that I have received from USCIS said that the approval notice had been sent, however I didn'y get one yet and it has been almost 2 weeks since email's date.
Have you guys received a seperate approval notice in addidtion to your new 10 years card???

Have a look at my timeline, as I sent my I-751 in last September.

I haven't been touched since the day after my biometrics appointment and am still waiting to hear something.

It seems the NOA takes a while to arrive after they receive your package, from what I've seen here on VJ from other people's timelines.

Good luck.

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie and have just confirmed (from USPS tracking website) that my I-751 arrived at VSC.
I sent the package with two separate checks ($205 and $70) and photographs because the package was returned before with the message that the fee is incorrect and it should be $205.
So, hopefully this will go through this time!

How long does it take for a service ctr to send a NOA?

--------------------
2007 - Removal of Conditions
Jan 22 - Send in I-751 via express mail
Jan 23 - Received at VSC (according to USPS)
..........
waiting - Check cashed by USCIS
waiting - Receive NOA1 - One-year extension of employment and travel
waiting - Receive NOA2 - Biometrics

US Citizenship General DiscussionBiometrics and timeline
I am about to send off my application for citizenship. I heard if you had biometrics recently you don't have to do it again. I did biometrics twice last year - March when I originally sent my application to remove conditions and then again in August because it took uscis 5 months to let me know the fingerprints didn't work and had to be redone.
Am I correct that since my last fingerprints were done 7 months ago I don't have to redo them. Also if I don't does this mean that I can save myself the biometrics fee.

Also I was wondering what the general timeline was from submitting application until when you are granted citizenship. I live in MA and my application is usually sent to the box in Vermont. Also when are you considered a US citizenship - after passing the interview and tests, or do you have to wait until after the oath cermonary? I need to know this in order to apply for government programs.

US Citizenship General DiscussionBiometrics
I sent my n-400 application March 30. The other day I received a letter to do biometrics May 7.
I thought if you had fingerprints done recently they didn't have to be redone. I had biometrics done last year in March and then again in August (it took them 5 months to tell me that the first set were no good).
Why are they making me redo my fingerprints when it hasn't even been 8 months yet?
I was really hoping to avoid the biometrics because of the 5 month delay that happened last year when I filed for remove conditions.

US Citizenship General DiscussionWhy did I receive this letter
So I have my oath ceremony tomorrow. Today in the mail I get a voter registration form from the department of transitional services.
It says I applied or receive public assistance and because of state law they have to help me register to vote if I want to.
Here's the thing though I never applied for public assistance since I know you can't until you achieve citizenship and I am not a citizen until hopefully tomorrow after my oath.

I did apply for SSI for my daughter back at the end of May. She is 2 and is a US citizen. I just found out her application has been approved and so she has been receiving SSI payment from June 1 onwards. This is the only reason why I can think of that the department of transitional services would have my name, however the SSI is in my daughter's name and I only did the application because she is a minor. I assumed since she is a US citizen and disabled then my citizenship at the time shouldn't matter. My daughter and husband are also on state medicare and have been for the past year. This is the only state assistance we currently receive since even though our income is low enough to qualify for $250 in food stamps since I am not counted as a person we don't qualify.

I am just hoping that this letter won't affect my citizenship application. I never claimed to be a US citizen and never applied for public assistance for myself.

This is stupid that someone who did all the right things and made a mistake a few hours before their interview can be deported for life. Meanwhile there are millions of illegals in this country that the government is doing nothing about. Guess uscis doesn't have their priorities straight.
