My mom asked me what I wanted for my grad gift. I said a plane ticket ($1200 give or take). My mom looked at me and said: what do you want as a gift? lol

I cannot wait just pack everything up and move and be with her!

1200 dollars? Are you planning to fly first class? :P

Use skyscanner.nl and you can search by entire month, I looked for Florida for the months October to December and the tickets go as low as 300 euros. They're all with 1 stop, the ones that are direct go over 1000 euros. So unless you are hellbent on not having a layover somewhere, then you shouldn't even come close to 12000 tickets from Amsterdam to Florida.

USCIS is funded mainly by fees, so I feel entirely justified in saying they should be accountable to those who pay the fees.

If it was primarily funded, rather than supplemented, by the government then I might feel different. Very little infuriates me more than government agencies being allowed to get the best out of capitalism without having to play by capitalist rules. But I suppose that is a huge rant and this isn't the place for it.

As much as I agree with this, the fact remains that this will likely not change.
If you look at the USCIS as a company that wants revenue then they have absolutely no reason to have good or even decent customer service. With almost any other company, you have to get customers to choose you and stay with you. When it comes to the USCIS, their "customers" don't just randomly decide they want their "product" nor do we have any other choice in who we go to.

The way they probably see it is, no matter how bad they handle things. What are we going to do? Break off our engagements in protests and only worsen our own situations?

We're helpless, we can complain all we want and it may have some effect on it in the long term. But most likely just because they get tired of the complaining and not because they want to provide better customer service.

Visajourney was down last night and now the USCIS site is down.

I think they're telling me to stop checking both ever 10 minutes. -_-

Anyone with an update yet? The igor list (shouldnt even look at it but meh), says we should get somethinf between 22nd june and 30th of july

I keep my focus on wanting to be there in October. I'm hoping hard and I really don't look at Igor's or other topics anymore. I'm sure we've all heard the saying  "A watched pot never boils.".

Igor's list is also of no help what so ever in my opinion.

The indication of 1-2 petitions approved every other day means almost nothing because the days in between are so random. There's no way to really get anything from it, it's basically a random list of people who randomly got approved, pretty much.

It's hard to stay patient but it's harder to keep getting upset with no updates.

I hope you guys are flying in October, cuz hopefully that'll mean my fiancé will be here for my birthday in December (April filier here)

I really, REALLY hope you get to be with your SO for their birthday. I have never been with my fiancee for one of her birthdays because they're in April. And there are no vacations for either one of us in April. Been together for 6 years come August and I have never been able to give her a birthday kiss and present in person. This is one of the things I look forward to the most.

I think its just people not updating or something. So months have increased by several tickets.

I just hope i get to be with her around oktober. This also means affordable plane tickets.

We're both from The Netherlands and this is like the only thing I've read in a long time on here that made me feel a little bit more OK with the wait.

The tickets for a summer time (July/August/Sept) flight are ~800-900 euros. Looked up October and it's damn near half that price, this is only a small conselation, but damn. Any good/comforting news is good to me at this point.

Of course, I don't want to be a complete downer but there is the highly unlikely chance that we'll face a December flight which, again, brings the price up. But here's to October! *raises invisible glass*

Nope. These are outstanding timelines with an NOA1 and no NOA2 at the TSC. This means people are still adding timelines and none are disappearing.

I think this is mostly due to people getting their NOA2 and getting excited and not updating their timeline. There have been a few NOA2's handed to Nov, Dec, Jan and even a Feb filer (from TSC too!) in the past few days.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about living conditions that are required.

Hi, first I'd like to thank you for this website I've been reading it for information and it's going to be an incredibly good resource for when my fiancee and I start the paper works.

Short back story:

My fiancee and I met online about 7 years ago, we have been together for 6 years since and I have visited many times and she has visited me (In fact I have just returned back to Holland after another sad goodbye less than 48 hours ago sad.png). We have everything from pictures together to vacations booked to videos of us at events together and plane ticket stubs. I propposed to her on Christmas day of 2009. And it's been a long and patient wait since. We have decided that we both want to have our schooling done to an extent. I got a degree in Holland in IT (I do plan on going to College in the U.S but that's a different story) and she's almost done with her BA. She has a job in the field she's studying for already and we have made a tremendous amount of progres in the past 6 years.

Now we feel that it is way overdue to start the process however there's something that's sort of in the way..

You see, my fiancee and I are in a position to start the paperworks but there's one thing that we are uncertain of.
Both my Fiancee and I are both relatively young (23 and 22) but she has a steady job and her income (She's the one living in the U.S) is above the 125% required for the poverty line. However, she is living in a house with her mother. Her mother is not responsible for her and does not receive any fiancial benefits from her residing there.
Our question that we could not find an answer to is, how will this affect our situation?

Is she required to have her own place? Will her mother (and also her younger half-brother that lives with his mother) be included in the poverty guideline? What I mean with that is will she have to be making the 125% for a total of 4 people instead of 2?

We are ready to start the paperwork, we WANT to start the paperwork but we want to have it down to the final details of exactly what we need to do and what the circumstances need to be. I would be incredibly grateful if I could find an answer to my question.

Thank you in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Just Below 125% Poverty Guideline of Income

My apologies, I didn't read the first part right where you said your mother would be the one filing as a co-sponser.

I believe this informational instruction guide here should answer your questions: http://www.uscis.gov.../i-134instr.pdf

To save you some trouble the specific answer to that question would be the following, as per the form:

As the sponsor, you must show you have sufficient income
or financial resources to assure that the alien you are
sponsoring will not become a public charge while in the
United States.
Evidence should consist of copies of any of the
documents listed below that apply to your situation.
Failure to provide evidence of sufficient income or
financial resources may result in the denial of the alien's
application for a visa or his or her removal from the United
States.
Submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources,
as appropriate:

A.
Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial
institutions with deposits, identifying the following details
regarding the account:

1. Date account opened;
2.Total amount deposited for the past year; and
3.Present balance.

The information on that .pdf covers the entire I-134 form too might you have more questions.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Just Below 125% Poverty Guideline of Income

Hey fellow VJers,

My Fiance and I are currently in the process of having sent his packet 3 to his consulate in the Netherlands. My mom is going to co-sponsor and I thought she made enough by her income for the previous year's transcripts, but it turns out she is approx $200 short of the requirement for household size of 2. So how many assets will she need to fill in for I-134 and which ones are easiest to prove?? Can she easily meet the extra $200 of personal property of something that meets that expense? Is just one bank statement enough to prove to show her savings of more than $200??

Thanks in advance!! We're so close and this come up now!! unsure.png

If she is $200 dollars short, basically, she has to prove she has 5x $200 dollars in savings/assets to make up for it. Since the support is for 5 years.
So if she can show she has $1000 (200 x 5) saved up then you guys should be good to go.

However just make sure that you are looking at it properly, you say his mother is going to co-sponser, does he live with her at the moment? If she has other children living with her that she claims on her taxes then the household # is the amount of people she claims on there.

This all is to the best of my knowledge. If I am mistaken then I hope on of the other VJ members will correct me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 weak tax return worries

Hi there,

From my understanding of this issue is that they will most likely look more at your current employment rather than past. By the time your future husband/wife has his/her interview you should have 1-2 more months worth of pay stubs.
Along with that a solid piece of evidence is an official written letter by your employer stating your position, gross wages and terms of employment. An example of how it should look like as given here: http://www.visajourn...content/support

Basically, your employer letter should state "To whom it may concern: (first name, last name) has been employed
full-time with the XYZ Company since 200_ as a (name of your job), and is an employee in good standing with an
annual salary of $XXXX. Signed, John Doe, Supervisor (or whatever title)" The letter should be on company
letterhead.

I can't tell you for sure that you don't have much to worry about but with your pay stubs + the letter it would be more than sufficient to prove that you can provide for yourself and the beneficiary. Which is all they are looking for.

I wish you the best of luck and an early congratulations for when this is all over (in the good kind of way) for you two!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuick question about the living condition of the petitioner.

Hi,

We're about to finalize our paperwork and send it in. I just have a quick question. My fiancee lives in the same house as her mother and brother. She isn't claimed on her mom's taxes and pays rent/helps with utilities and such.

That aside, my question is about the land lord. What is his part in all of this? Do we need some sort of letter from him that he's aware of me moving in with them when I first get there. We plan to move out soon after but we'd like to move in to a new place together.
I can't find on any form or guide if we even have to get in touch with the landlord before my arrival in the country at all.
Since this is the last thing that's on my mind that could potentially go "wrong" I just wanted to make sure that we're not missing anything.

So long-question short. Do we have to notify her landlord and/or get a statement from him that it's ok for me to move in there before I move to the states?

Thank you for your time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical, affidavit and interview

Hi there,

Congratulations on the progress so far.
I would suggest starting to get the paperwork right away and set up an appointment for your medical. Keep in mind that you need a new letter of intent that your fiance has to mail to you along with a filled in I-134, the Affidavit of Support form. This is the form that is going to be part of the proof of his income. You can have a co-sponser, which would be his father or mother if they are willing they would have to fill out a form as well. Gather the rest of the paperwork that's required so you can get that out of the way and have one less thing on your mind.

As for the financial part, he needs to be making 125% of the poverty line for the amount of people he's responsible for. You can check the amounts over here: http://www.immihelp.com/affidavit-of-support/i-864p-poverty-guidelines.html

For 2 people in most states it's $19,387 a year. Alaska and Hawaii have a higher poverty line as you can see.
If his income covers that, then you have little to worry about. If not then you need a co-sponser or savings/assets that are 5 times the value of the amount he's short.
So if he's about 1000 dollars short per year, he could have 5000 dollars in savings to make up for it. It's multiplied by 5 because that's the amount of years the Affidavit is valid for.
Read the 2nd part of this guide for more in-depth instructions/suggestions: http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide

As for your vaccinations, if you're missing some of them they give you them at the medical but you have to pay for them. So it's always good to check with your doctor, he/she should know which vaccinations you haven't had or need to get. It might be cheaper if your health insurance covers it for you. Either way it wouldn't hurt to check.
Good luck to both of you and hopefully an early congratulations smile.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of support, can I self sponsor?

You can't sponsor yourself. You can get her brother/father to co-sponser you but in all cases she AND the co-sponser need to fill out the form.
The petitioner always has to fill out the form regardless of income.

In your situation you could get her brother or father to co-sponser you on the basis that you give them your word you have enough to take care of yourself.
However they should know that if something does happen the sponsor and co-sponser will be held reliable financially.

I hope this helped and good luck :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth certificate question/problem.

Hi,

I have just received package 3 in the mail from the embassy in Amsterdam. Now, I know you need an original birth certificate but the thing is. I'm from Palestine, I wasn't exactly born in a hospital or have any documentation of my birth. We fled the country/the war when I was young and we ended up in Holland when I was around 6 or 7 years old.

I have something that's called "Akte van inschrijving van rechtelijke uitspraak" which translated means "record of registration of judicial decision".
Basically it's a legal document that acts as a birth certificate for me in The Netherlands. My parents went to court and they gave all the information to the judge and he/she then approved and had this document made.

Is this document a valid replacement for a birth certificate from the Palestinian authorities? It has everything that they ask of me. My information and both of my parents' information (Birth year/place/names etc).

I can't call the embassy until tomorrow and ask them, but if someone here has been in a similar situation it would be really nice to know what happened and how it was dealt with.

Thanks in advance,
Jhalil.
