CanadaWeather & Road Report
We're in Kentucky and it is/was nasty. We were very lucky here. We lost the roof of the front porch. Well, we didn't lose it... it's just lying *on* the front porch now. We have numerous trees and branches down everywhere, but we managed to keep electricity. They are estimating over 200,000 people without power, and at least 7-10 days before it's restored. They declared a State of Emergency here and in Indiana.

I think the final totals were between 1 1/2 to 2 inches of ice, then around 3 inches of snow on top of that here in Louisville. I didn't sleep a wink Tuesday night. We live in a trailer, surrounded by huge trees and every minute or so you could here a loud crack, then the crash of ice/branches falling. I finally tried to lay down around 2am, but every time I would hear another branch fall, I would be up running from window to window, checking on the kids etc. Like I said, the roof of the porch collapsed, and we were trapped inside until my father came over and cleared enough away from the door to open it a bit and slide out. We have a few large limbs on the trailer, but thankfully, not too much damage. Very very very lucky.

PhilippinesAnyone with February Interview Gotten Your Packet 4?
I don't understand why it would take so long for a letter to get across town. I called the embassy and was told the packet 4 was sent on the 20th of Dec. Then was told that my baby could go to the hospital cause a copy would be there. After wasting a trip there on the 2nd of Jan only to find out no copy made it there yet???? I heard of slow mail this is crazy. Lucky for us my baby spoke to one of the nurses and was called that the copy showed up and she was able to do the medical on 4th of Jan.

The appt. letter finally shows up on the 8th of Jan (19 days for mail in Manila?) Oh well just the interview to go and we can battle the forms and waiting together in the states.

Just check my case status online and this is what i see:

Oath Ceremony

On January 24, 2012, we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your recommended approval. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Thanks God it means i will be on the list of people for sure will getting a ceremony soon. If not this Feb. 3 maybe next to that..

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFILING I-751 AND BEING DIVORCED
Me and my ex file joint I-751 but after a couple of months or relationship fell apart and we end up divorce..so i have to cancel the first file and refile for I-751 waiver..I hire a lawyer to advise me and help me get through with this, because my case is complicated. But hiring a lawyer is worth every penny bcoz i was one of successful I-751 waiver for Removing condition. My advice is if you have a complicated case you really need to hire a lawyer. But if yoy think yours will be ok just trust your guts..Just submit all the evidence and info that your marriage from your ex are in good faith.and be your self on the interview.just answer what they only ask dont add more...Good luck..if u have question just ask me,im more than happy to asnwer it?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUS & Mexican Couples - K-3/CR-1/IR-1 Group, Juarez experiences, comments
The first time we stayed off of Avenue Lincoln, I think it was called Suites Marta. We had a car so even though it was a little distance the room was nice and big, even had a sitting area. (This is when we discoved the restaurant El Torro Bronco, just a block away. We liked it so much we ate there on 2 nights and also on our return trip it was the last place we went before we left to go across the bridge to El Paso). We made the mistake of thinking we were done and checked out, so we just stayed in Hotel la Playa (DO NOT RECOMMEND). First they want a deposit and then the rooms suck.

The second time we stayed in Hotel Americano, it was OK, the restaurant even though it was small had wonderful food. The room was just ok, but it did not matter, because we were only there to sleep. It is just around the corner on Av. Hermanos Escobar.

Asia: East and PacificIt's been a while since I posted on VJ
Hi Everybody,

It's been a while since I posted on VJ, so I thought I would post a little update.

I flew to Vietnam in late May of 2008, to be with my fiance for her interview. I gave her my passport wso she could take it in with her. (she was 5 months pregnant at the time). When she went in, she about the middle of the line. I waited outside with a couple other Americans who are now very close friends (Matt & Linh).

She came out about an hour later with a pink slip (1st interview). I guess it pays to have a good lawyer (Thanks Marc)

She flew back to the US with me a week later!!!

W were married June 27, 2008. Our baby was born September 1st. A little girl named Lisa...

I filed her AOS papers September 5th. By february we had received her EAD, Advance Parole, and her Green Card.

The wife and baby are now back in Vietnam visiting her family. This is her parents first grandchild, so I would guess they are spoiling her.

The wife and baby will be back around the middle of May. We will be returning to Vietnam again for TET 2010.

Attached is a picture of daddy's little girl...

IMPORTANT: Forthose of you who have a VIETNAMESE spouse, you and your children are eligible to apply for a 5 year visa exemption. My daughter and I now have one, it costs $20 each, and took less than 2 weeksw to process.

2 Siblings and immediate family (Father, Mother)

3 Addresses. and A#s if they have immigrated to the USA.

I believe they are reffering to any relatives your fiance has that already live in the US.

They request a list of all relatives, we provided a list with my wife's Aunt, and Cousin, with address and telephone number.

There is a recent thread on here in an Adjusting Status forum about the options when a birth cert. can't be obtained/doesn't exist. I think the OP's fiance was born in India and living in the UK. Sorry I can't remember more details to help you search.

Her VN passport will work to confirm a birthdate.

I'd think that you/Xuan are going to need something that serves the purpose of a birth certificate as you work your way through life. That documentation will be easier to get while she in in VN than doing it long distance from the US.

If I recall correctly, there is document that wold have had to provide a document stating that she does not have a birth certificate. You will more than likely need more copies of this when you go to the US.

Well either I am fortunate or just lucky.

I only made 1 trip. I have no matches to your outline.

The short order is did the interviewer wake up on the wrong side of the bed that day.

AnhSau is right.

Here were our red flags:
  • Introduced by sister
  • 1 trip to vietnam (6 weeks)
  • 1 month Pregnant at time of filing - 5 months at time of interview

We got PINK the very first interview. They didn't even make her speak english at the interview. She said hello when she walked in, but that was it. I really think they wanted to get her out of the building, as they interviewed her first. I think they wanted to avoid having a baby born in the US Embassy (automatic citizenship, hehehe)

But, you have to remember to present ALL the facts of your case, regardless of the situation. I was smart enough to document our relation ship and KEPT EVERYTHING.

Hiring a lawyer is personal preference. Because I had spent time reading the forums on VJ, I knew about the RED FLAGS. We visited Marc Ellis before my first trip was over, and hired him. He and his staff helped prepare all the papers for filing, and made sure all the facts were present.

But you can't just present the facts. Your papers need to tell a story of true love and committment. Plus we overwhelmed them with evidence at the interview.
  • 3000+ pages of chat logs
  • 200+ pictures
  • 200+ emails
  • Receipts for everything (jewelry, rental car, hotel, reception, dress rental, band, food)

And the TIMELINE is a MUST. You WILL get a blue slip without one. Here are some samples: TIMELINES

Another RED FLAG for HCMC, 99%sure they will NOT accept a co-sponsor.

Please people, ask the questions before hand. Save EVERYTHING.

Rental car? Dude you drove a car when you were there? That is some kind of crazy. I thought about that until the taxi left the area near the airport and I saw the traffic in Siagon. Then I see how cheap the taxi's were and that was it for me. I give you much respect if you drove a car in Siagon. Not me brotha. wow.gif

I was referring to the rental the day of the ceremony. I had to go to her aunts house, and go with the procession of other man to her house that morning. It is very typical now to rent cars and vans.

We hired Marc from the beginning. We met with him the weekend before my first trip ended. Marc knows the law, and understands the culture wthin the embassy. Marc and his team had my wife totally prepared for her interview.

OUR SITUATION:
1 trip to Vietnam ( 6 weeks)
she doesn't speak very good english
engagement ceremony after 5 days in vietnam (but we chatted for about 1 1/2 years
found out she as pregnant beforemy 1st trip ended
2nd trip to vietnam was in May of the same year for her interview (That's right, sent application for K1 Jan 23'rd 2008, approved mid-march, interviewed May 30th (fiance is now 5 months pregnant), 1st interview approved (PINK SLIP)

Now, everyones situation is different, and there are many people who have an opinion or think they know everything about immigration (you will see them handing out flyers outside the embassy). Hiring Marc is not a guarantee your fiance will pass, but he will tell you honestly what the red flags are, and will help you and you fiance prepare for the whole process.

If it wasnt' for this site and the support I recived I would already be in Vietnam. My relatives, this board, and the people at work have been so supportive.

Tran's brother that lives in NY lost his job a few months ago he wants to move here and get a job but I tried to tell her if her brother moves in with me that will look suspicous even if he doesnt live with me just by moving to the same town could hurt our case.
so right now I'm one of her familys main source of income most of the money I send Tran goes toward her family to pay bills and buy food the thought of them denying my visa because they think im getting paid off (which they do quit often without any proof) is enough to push me off the deep end. I don't enjoy working 67 hours per week actually I'm working 72 hours up untill the time I leave for my trip then when I come back I will be back down to 67 hours.

It's a known fact that most people give up after a denial I have never given up on anybody in my life and I'm not about to start now. Money does play a big part in this I do know that but it is also possible to get the visa without having allot of money. I keep trying to make excuses to justfy there denial to make sense of all this but thats getting harder and harder when I hear cases that were approved that had the same red flags as mine. Maybe my case was weak since we only had about 10 pictures maybe we should have been kissing in some of them but she is shy about kissing in front of a camera. We had allot of evedence however most of it we didn't have untill the lawyer asked us to start saving it wich was after when we got engaged. Maybe that hurt our case. Will we be able to recover from it I don't know but I'm sure going to try.

Kepp your head on straight and don't give up. None of us would be here if we did. I know sometimes people are very forward on these boards. I know I am. Some people don't discover this board until 1/2 way throught the process.

Do what your lawyer says. Get together as much evidence as possible. Try and get your girl over her shyness for a couple of pictures (we're not saying make a porno).

I was fortunate enough to find VJ before I filed , and have a cople friends that have done the same, so I knew somewhat, what I was getting myself into.

Stay strong, keep the faith, and ever give up if this is what you truly believe in....
