Looks good. I'm a big fan of photos but your documentation is so overwhelmingly complete, you really don't need any. Should be a pure formality.


I agree with Just Bob. Why didn't you include any pictures? Its not THAT big of a deal, but its one of the best and easiest forms of evidence :)

Ditto. A personal statement (or cover letter) may possibly spare you an interview. Your evidence is very sufficient, but it definitely won't hurt writing up a statement.

<br>If anyone who has gone through a waiver reads this, if you have any input on your experiences regarding travel/waiver stuff that would be great. I am really holding off on booking my tickets until I figure <br>this one out.


I traveled before and after filing for a divorce. But when I traveled after the divorce i already filed I-751 at that time so I had the extension letter with me. So my situation was slightly different. As far as USCIS is concerned, you're still married (because divorce isn't finalized yet) and they don't keep up with trying to find out if every foreigner who got a greencard is still married. I think you should be fine especially if your greencard didn't yet expire.

On my part, when I entered the US, the CPB officer was somewhat a douche..but really he was only doing his job. He asked me a few questions to see if i'll mess up :) but at the end he told me not to worry about it and I should be receiving my new card at some point this year (and I did, 2 months later, praise God!)

By the way, do yo have an idea when will your divorce finalize? You actually may go ahead and file for I-751 just with a divorce complaint. You'll deal with the stress of waiting on a I-751 waiver anyway so might as well start it earlier and get it over with

Finally, like v333k said, your evidence list looks pretty tight.

I am gathering documents to aply for removal condition of 2 green card? Are Sworn affidavit(s) very necesseary? I have most of the documents listed in the guids on this site. is any one out here who did not send affidavit(s) recently but still get the 10 year card? I am a lil confused by it. is there any sample of the affidavit(s)? I really need your suggestions. Thanks.


Read the instructions carefully. It says "the documents should cover, but not limited to, the following examples". So it's only a suggestion, not a requirement. And there's many on this forum who didn't send them and got approved.

If you think you have enough evidence, don't worry about the affidavits.

An annulment means your marriage wasn't supposed to take place to begin with. Thus, if you received a greencard based on that marriage, it, too will be annulled/revoked.

Hello, I'm new here and i was just wondering if anybody on this forum is also in the process of their citizenship in the area of Hialeah? i just got my letter for the interview and i filed back in September 01 2012... or maybe somebody just did their interview in Hialeah and I just wanted to know when was their oath schedule for? please let me know... Just to update:

I called their 1-800 number the week following the interview and they told me the interviewing officer approved my case but still pending supervisor approval. Fast-forward, 2 infopass appointments later until last friday, when I got a call in the morning from USCIS asking me to show up on 5/8 (yesterday) for the oath ceremony,  thank God :) I'm now a happy US citizen,.

They told my husband the same thing at his interview Jan 10 and it took then til Feb 25 to update the website. We felt very postive also but it is nerve wracking. Feb 25 status went to Placed in Que for Oath Ceremony and then on March 11 they updated again saying they scheduled Oath Ceremony and mail date, time and location. We received that on March 14 and our Oath Ceremony is tomorrow March 20. So I guess the point to my long Congratulation is they don't update the website often so don't get discourged. It will happen, on USCIS time and sometimes that is just not fast enough for us.


Did they tell him his file is too big as well?

My husband is having his naturalization delayed as well because the IO had to review some of his DMV documents. Hoping yours gets the all clear soon!


Are they doing research on their own, or are they reviewing documents that your husband submitted at the interview?

Nothing changed so far....i read your case and noticed that they changed yours to RFE..did this happen the same day of your interview?

Howdy partners!

So i went to my interview this morning. Sat in the biometrics area by mistake then went to the correct area, dropped my interview letter, and was called a few minutes later. Sworn in, sat down, and was asked for my passports (current and expired), went through the application. She only paused at the trips outside of the US. I had 9 trips on the application, and took 2 trips since i submitted the application. I had an updated trips list for her, she cross-checked the entry stamps on my passport and then moved on. I told her i had a traffic citation and asked if I should've added it to the application, she said "it depends, how recent was it?" I told her it was February of last year and I showed it to her. It was about failing to stop at a stop sign (I swear I never saw that sign!!) and she wrote it in that little table. She then resumed asking me about my application, line by line. Nothing was asked about my I-751 divorce waiver. Then we moved to the civics test:

What is freedom of Religion?
How many senators?
When was the constitution written?
What's the ocean on the east cost?
What's the ocean on the west cost?
Name one country that borders Canada (when I responded Ohio, she said I'm the first person to tell her that answer!)

Asked me to read something about taxes then asked me to write "We pay taxes".

She said I passed the test BUT a decision cannot yet be made because she wants to look through my file, since I had a big file. Boy did I have a big file! it was about 4 inches thick. I told her this is mostly my I-751 evidence (300+ pages, click here if interested) and she verified that I applied with I-751 Waiver and I said yes. She said she'll look at it but likely not today because she has 30 more people to interview :)

I'm honestly feeling positive, thank God, and hopefully I'll get an oath date soon, God Willing.

My interview went great, it lasted 45 minutes though, but it was good, swore in, went through my application, all verified. except, I had a speeding ticket, that I did not disclose in my application because it's less than 500 and not a DUI involved, so I mentioned it during the interview, then the IO marked down in my app as YES. and requested to show her the ticket receipt which is paid. "Thank God, I have it on me" she then verified it and all went well. passed the civic, writing and reading exams.

The questions are:
1- What is an amendment?
2- What is the supreme law of the land?
3- What is the capital of your state?
4- Who signs bills to become laws?
5- What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance?
6- What is the Oath of Allegiance?

Reading: Where is the White House?
Writing: The White House in Washington D.C.

Then she handed me N-652 form and said Congratulation, you have passed the test. Oath Ceremony probably will be held in the same location by April 1st.

Congratulation! Your application has been recommended for approval. :thumbs:

Congrats, fellow new-orleanian! I've noticed that they sometimes give the oath letter the same day for an oath taking place at the closest thursday (in N.O, they seem to have an oath every thursday based on most people).

Why did it last so long though? did she ask for tax transcripts or I-751-relevant documents?

I passed all my test.The officer told me she couldn't give me the decision at that time.She told me that they will let me know by mail.Can anyone tell me how long will it take?Or what should i do now? I am very frustrated. Take care and thanks.

I was in a similar situation, and I called the 1-800 number and asked for a level 2 representative. They can tell you if there is an update on your case (i.e if it's only waiting supervisor approval, or still hasn't been approved by supervisor).

Schedule an infopass and take the notice with you. Ask to speak to a supervisor (you have the right to) and present your case.

So Okalian, exactly what did the interviewer ask you about your marriage and your divorce? How did it affect the result of your interview? Were you able to become a citizen or did it prevent you from naturalizing?

 

Actually not a single question was asked about my marriage/divorce. My emphasis is that they DO review your file, regardless of what happened before. I removed conditions too with a waiver,which was approved without an interview. So i guess my case was pretty smooth overall but it could've been more gruesome should my ex-wife filed a fraud complaint.

She will file her N-400 based on five years of permanent residency, so your marriage (whether fraudulent or not) won't be taken into consideration.

I don't think this is quite accurate. If the basis of establishing permanent residency collapses, so will everthing else in her case.

 

I sat in front of the USCIS officer at N-400 interview and she had my whole file on the desk. Trust me, they will take this last opportunity to check everything before granting her citizenship.

And the keyword of the day to finish off your absurd argument: Denaturalization ... Divorce or otherwise, they dig deep in the history/file. 5-YEARS OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE IS NOT THE SOLE REQUIREMENT. Even a tomato would've understood by now.
