Philippine Sen. Ramon Revilla said Monday that Baldwin's comment was "insensitive and uncalled for" and an insult to millions of Filipinos.
He called the actor is "arrogant" and said he is apparently unaware that the Philippines has a law against mail-order brides.
"Let him try to come here in the Philippines and he'll see mayhem," Revilla said, using a local idiom that implies the speaker will personally administer a beating.

This coming from a womanizer who fathered 80+ children with different women. He has no right defending the image of the Filipino woman. Filipinas can better defend ourselves without his help.

Sen. Bong Revilla fathered 80+? ohmy.gif maybe you are referring to revilla sr.? i think he have the right to depend filipino woman because he have children, sisters and a mother. smile.gif

Is that the man who she hugging is her new lover? what about that Filipino guy is he also her BF? I am confused about these thing.........anyway if she only working as a care giver probably the salary is not enough for the 3 of them for her son, and for her old sick hubby. thats probably why she refused to get back her old hubby to the US. she cannot able to take care of him full time because shes busy to earn for a living.... I know that as a wife. she have responsibilities to her husband. she could have try her best to see her hubby atleast even at his last breath. also I am wondering what happened to the other Family of this old man? are they aware of what happened to him in the Philippines. if so, why they never request to bring his dead body to the US. are they heartless too!?

personally,,, I don't want to judge this woman that she is really a good or a bad person because we never heard yet her side. and remember sometimes the news is NOT 100% accurate.

Also, I dont think that its ALL her faults why her husband died. her husband died because of the acute disease; and besides he's too old and its natural people die.

It maybe its her fault because she's not sending some money to buy his medicine and other expenses in the hospital but even then you cannot garantee that the old man can survive.

huh.gif a little reading info for you. Elder Abuse... http://en.wikipedia....iki/Elder_abuse

her husband has a monthly pension from ssa amounting to $1000.00. in the phils. $1000 is big enough to support her husband medicine and hospital bills unless she is supporting the bf and her whole family in cdo.

QUOTE (k32005 @ Jul 19 2009, 11:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
ok, so I tried to talk to her... however, i'm having no luck.. she cries and does not want to talk.. I still continued to ask questions though. However, she did not respond. She listens but gives no response. She's probably taking it all in. After that conversation, we have not talked to each other for almost a day now.

About the mine, hers, and ours account: First of all, there can be no "mine" account. All my money would go on the "ours" account to pay off the bills. The "ours" account will still be short and I'll have to work overtime. Giving her the "hers" account is like winning the lottery for her parents. She will just send everything from the "hers" account. If her mom asks for more money and the "hers" account is not sufficient, she will take money from the "ours" account ATM and send that as well. This will only work if I don't give her access to the "ours" account...

I agree with you. dont give her access to your account. i suggest that you will be the one to send money to her parents in excess to your monthly budget. by not responding with you and crying..she being childish...why not let her read some of the comments and suggestions to your post here..it might help clear her mind. Good Luck.

Of course, you cannot expect Ferdinand Marcos to rise from the dead and ask apology to the Filipino people. blush.gif Imelda Marcos doesn't have the full grasp of knowledge on how her husband ran the country before. She's not the president. Comparing Marcos and Cory, they have different approaches of running the country. Marcos used his intelligence and ambition to bring about change of the country as it happened that PI was way above on higher notch economically on his time than at present. But when Cory took over she did not have programs and projects to improve the economic condition of the country and that's the onset of PI's economic condition which dropped like a stone and further worsened by Erap's corruption and aggravated by Arroyo. Don't ever expect of any corrupt officials to admit of their wrong doings, not to the dead one and more so to the living ones. The Marcoses will remain ruthless on the eyes of people not until the Philippine government will get back all the "ill-gotten wealth". tsk! tsk! hmmmm interested of their wealth.

Here's some of the history of your mother Imelda. odd woman she bought 3 thousand pair of shoes most of them are the same style and colors. whistling.gif

Imelda Marcos, once uncrowned queen of the Philippines, was born into poor family of five children, who lived with thier mother in a garage, sleeping on makeshift beds made of milk boxes and boards. when she became a young woman, she entered beauty contests in the Philippines and eventually married Ferdinand Marcos. she was especially impressed by his personal hoard of American green backs, which he really allegedly kept in piles in a private bank vault. she married him after a "romance" lasting eleven days. the Marcoses were to rule the Philippines for generation, during which they amassed wealth approximately 10 billion dollars, while the masses of Filipinos lived in poverty. Imelda did things during this time such as buying 12million dollars worth of jewelry on one trip to Europe alone. she opened a Philippine beach resort and sent a plane to Australia for some sand for it. she spent 10 million dollars on her daughter's wedding.
she claimed that there were no poor people in Phillippines. when Marcos of rule ended, 3thousand pairs of shoes, all belong to her, were found left behind in Malacanang palace. This is what she is remembered for.

"What started as "just a new activity" to spice up an otherwisese routine civic-military parade, awarding ceremonies and a literary-musical program for a city charter anniversary, Bacolod City's MassKara Festival is now 3 years short of its third decade and has already become of the entries of the Philippines to the global tourism community.

The MassKara Festival of Bacolod City has repeatedly represented the country in some major festivals in Asia, notably in the Chinggay Festival in Singapore in 1998, the Lunar Festival of Hong Kong in 2001, in the International Tourism Festival of Shanghai in 2004 and in the Midosuji Festival Parade of Osaka, Japan, emerging as champion in the foreign category and first runner-up in the local category - the first award to be given to a foreign participant in the 10-year history of that Japanese festival.

Among the Philippine festivals, MassKara is one that has also been to almost all major festivals in the Visayas and Luzon. mostly on exhibition performances. During the 23rd Asian Games held in Bacolod City in November 2005, the MassKara dance got the most applause from the athletes, visiting dignitaries and the international press covering the event.

The word MassKara has a double meaning. First, it is a fusion of the English word "mass" or many and "kara", the Spanish word for "face." MassKara then becomes a "mass of faces," and these faces have to be smiling to project Bacolod already known in the late 70's as the City of Smiles. MassKara also is the dialect "maskara" for the English word mask, which gives rise to the use of giant smiling masks in varied hues, colors and brilliance which the gaily costumed dancers wear as they stomp, swing, pulsate and gyrate in the major streets of the city every third weeded nearest to the 19th of October, which is the City Charter Anniversary of Bacolod. You never know if you'll be denied, need to submit additional evidence, or just fall through the processing cracks and not get the visa in a timely manner. If you're approved and don't hit any delays you should be fine with that amount of time. However, unless the tickets are fully refundable or changeable I wouldn't take the chance of booking now.

I am currently filling forms out. And preparing them to be sent in.

Yes some may think im crazy cause of her age. I thought about it many times. *But I Love her & am Happy with her*
But honestly At the beginning Never imagined being with her.
But in time things grew into more & couldn't get her out of my mind.
She is a great person & honestly not looking for money Thank god.

But down to my question.
has anyone gone to the interview and know what they say about that age gap?
Specific tactical questions etc?
My fiance is very shy and that is about all that I worry about.
And what issues that may cross our paths.

Idea's Suggestions Greatly appreciated.

I did hire a lawyer for the papers as I have a few complicated issues. in my thoughts.
example Taking time to perfect paperwork. etc. a bit of money for help to get it processed and done is better then spending 6months on my own to make sure it's all perfect.
I was going to do it on my own. until i read a bit deeper...

Thank you.

you are still young at your age of 35. dont worry about the age gap...it is not a problem at all. just make sure that your fiance is ready on her interview with a complete documents. make a check list of all the requirements that will be needed at the interview. your fiance should know everything about you..it is very important for a genuine relationship.

regarding paperworks..it is very easy. just follow the guidelines. good luck. smile.gif

Philippinesmanaging Finances

I agree to above posts. Money matters should have been discussed before getting married.

In the Philippines, the man takes care of all the expenses IF the woman is a stay at home. I think it's the same thing here. That's just sensible since how would you expect the woman to help with the expenses if she doesn't even have a source of income?!? If both are working, they share responsibilities unless the husband is earning so much that he doesn't need his wife's income at all.

With my husband and I, all his is mine and all mine is mine. LOL...Just kidding!!! Seriously though, we've decided that whatever happens, the priorities will always be saving for the rainy days and paying the bills including debts. I don't have a job yet so right now, he's the one in charge of everything. But once I start working, the agreement was for him to take care of all the bills and for me to take care of the savings.

Your married to each other already. You're partners now. Partners share responsibilities with each other. Your goals and priorities should align with each other and you should be helping each other to achieve those.

Finances is not everything in a relationship but it can be a major strain. I don't know if this is the same in all states but what I know is that when you're married, your debt is also her debt and vice versa. You should both work on paying it as soon as you can. Maybe you should explain to her the advantage of being able to pay all debts immediately like there will be less interest charge, thus the amount of interest you'll have to pay could go to savings instead. This thought works for me and my husband. Who wants to pay so much interest when the money could go somewhere else more important?!? Do the Math to her.

Another option which I don't recommend so much because she might take offense: explain to her that helping you with the bills is still cheaper than her renting her own place, paying her own bills and buying her own food. There's no such thing as free lunch.
Lastly, you two can go to a financial counseling if there's such a thing.

Anyways, goodluck!!!

i agree with you..i like the last option.

Philippinesprenup

I vote "no" on pre-nup.

First of all, your state has standards on divorce and what she is entitled to if it happens. Our state has a basic 50-50 rule on assets acquired during the marriage. But you can agree to anything if it is a dissolution not contested by either party. So look into your state laws on divorce and property, child support or even alimony because that alone may be satisfactory to you and a prenup would be moot in that case.

Second of all, don't be suspicious that this hot babe likes you. That's just the fact of the matter with women in the third world and men from the first. It's awful tough to get used to being a superstar. Be prepared for fat old arrogant women in the US to have their heads explode as you pass by with this sweet, loving, yummy dollup on your arm as you pass by.

I actually moved in with my wife and her whole family before applying for the fiance visa. I built a house with her father. Nice young man. (Younger than me.) I cannot recommend strongly enough to really get to know the family, not just her.

There is quite a bit to learn and respect about her culture. Make the effort. Yes there are scammers everywhere in the world including the philippines, but they have a VERY strong committment to family that I like.

In answer to your Chinese friend who questioned the love a young Filipina could have for a man like you: Best to be thought merely a retard than to open your mouth and sound like a catty, envious bi#@h too. Heh.

Filipinas generally like an older, more stable, and secure guy. Be a good man to her and she will love you from head to toe.

I agree with your post.

PhilippinesTravelling-Eastern Caribbean Cruise

We are going this Nov to western caribbean. We were told to ensure the ticket is in my wife's maiden name since this matches her passport. Just carry your CC and marriage cert. and will be easy through customs.

We will be going this Nov too at eastern caribbean. I already amended my passport into my married name, so i have no problem with my tickets. hope to see you at the fort in florida then.. :) since we have a different destination. Thanks for the reply.

I'm a Kano, but I will chime in anyway.

You should have no problem going on a cruise since you have your conditional green card...as long as the cruise does not last more than six months  ...or past the expiration date of your green card. :o

PS...don't go to Cuba...that might be trouble.

Thanks for the info. tahoma :)

PhilippinesMarried Filipinos who send money to family back in Philippines
QUOTE (jsnearline @ Nov 18 2009, 12:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Does the issue of sending money home (or how much you send) cause tension between you and your spouse? If so, how have you tried to resolve it?

What rules do you and your spouse follow regarding remittances (e.g. money only comes from Filipino spouse's pay)?

How do you determine the amount of money you send back to family in Philippines?

How do you distinguish legitimate needs vs. "nice to have"s?

How do you handle emergencies (real and imagined) that come up?

Have you ever cut any family members off financially? If so, why and for how long?

it is not an issue at all. my husband said it is our money. i am not working yet..so he is the one who is sending money for my mom. we only send money once a year for $2000.00 for remittance charges is too expensive. i have a pag-ibig housing loan in the philippines...so it is included on the money that we sent. emergencies is for immediate family only. my husband is soo generous which i tried to control..kuripot ako.

PhilippinesMet a rude fellow Pinay

I am a Filipina living in Washington state. I have been here for more than a year but I only have one Filipina friend, My husband ntroduced me to her and she and her husband were very good people. I once attended a party for another Filipino here. My husband personaly knew her and they seem fine. At her house, she was always asking my husband about his ex-wife who happened to be her "bestfriend". I was so ridiculed and I felt I am not welcome to their house and party. From that point on, I never go to any Filipino get together. She was so rude and uneducated, they are also some kind of "socialite" and they are trying to outdo each other by having fancy clothes and gadgets.
I am just sad that there are Filipinos like that, treating their fellow kababayan like ######.

sorry to hear about your experienced with our kababayan. i am lucky to met some friendly pilipino in my area. but i am also careful on choosing a friend especially with my fellow pinay. hindi talaga mawawala ang inggit at kayabangan ng ating kapwa pinoy lalo na pag first time maka experience ng magandang buhay.
