US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 Visa Interview
Congratulations on your interview. It's not highly unusual that a background check is done. If you don't mind my asking, what is your nationality? Sometimes, if you are a foreigner in Spain they will run additional background checks. Hope this helps. My fiance had his interview this week at Madrid and we are still waiting to hear too. Good luck and let us know how everything turns out.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Question 10
QUOTE (Christian_S @ Apr 28 2009, 12:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Question 10 asks "I have submitted a visa petition to USCIS on behalf of the following persons". I followed the instructions as shown on the example form but I am unsure if the date should be today or the date I sent my initial K1 visa packet? I found this question posted one other time but there was not an answer given. Suggestions anyone?

Thanks for posting this question. I was wondering the same thing. Best wishes!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionOld Version of I-134 requested by embassy
Hi,
The embassy sent the older version of the I-134 to my SO(beneficiary). I didn't realize this and I sent him the newer version of the I-134 which doesn't require me to sign before a notary public. Will this be a problem? Has this happened to anyone else? What are your suggestions? Should I get the old form and send it to him or should I just hope that they accept the new form? Thank you in advance for you help.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI134---small mistake
Hello,
I made a dumb mistake on the I134 and already sent it to my SO. He noticed the mistake. Yes, I looked over it several times before sending it along with all the other documents required for his interview. At the part where it asks for his gender I left the "F" for female. I went off the form that was on visajourney and I guess I just overlooked that part. He is obviously not a female. I typed all the information on the formed. Would it be ok for him to just mark a line thru the "F" and put a "M". I already know how dumb of a mistake this is and I feel so bad for it especially knowing that I checked over this form several times. What would you do to correct it? Thanks.

I have sent all necessary paperwork to my SO and I found out I didn't include a statement from my bank which I felt is not necessary since I have my tax transcripts, letter from my employer and my paystubs ready for my SO's interview. Should I go ask my bank for a statement of my accounts and how long I have been banking with them? I'm confused.

On my 1-134 form i put the bare amount i would make for a year and i had my personal manager fill out the employment form request with the same number. But when you look at my last paystub, i exceeed the amount in both.

Will this be a problem?

Its hard to account for bonus and overtime pay.I made a letter saying dear embassy, telling that its hard to give a exact amount of pay due to bonus and overtime.I signed and dated it.

Should i do this?

Or just leave it like it is, and as long is the amount is over the 18,500 it doesnt matter what my paystubs show?

Thank you in advance, i really need to know the answers to this, tommorrow i am getting on the plane, to see my honey and bring her all these forms. And i wanna make sure i have it alright.

Im lost as what to do here. We have no job for her right now but she will as soon as we get settled.

Hello everyone, I am wondering how long I hae to stay in Juarez or what is the average stay. How many times do I have to isit Juarez?
I am honestly afraid of the many stories I have heard about Juarez and the surroundings. Where people get kipnnaped all the time, many people get killed evyday, people disappear and dead bodies are just there in the streets. No one does anything about it. People have told me not to go by myself, not to take nice clothing and do not give money to the needy, as less money as possible. Something really concerns me, If I do not take good clothes and nice shoes and all that, I wont give a good impression and will greater my chances of a visa denial. I know no one there, and suppousedly hotel owners investigate people, and others just go knoecking on doors to see what they can get fom people. Help!

Hi Fei,

Your concerns need to be put to rest. There is no need to be afraid! YES, Be smart, be watchful, be careful and you will be fine! The president of Mexico has sent several thousand millitary troops and Federalies to Juarez because of the problems there.

I just returned from Juarez in June of 2009

I had the same concerns but while I was there I felt totally safe. my thoughts to you is to get a hotel that is close to the consulate (we stayed at the LaQuinta) and you will be just fine. DO NOT travel out into the bad part of the city. The new consulate is in the better part of the city and it is very modern , developed, and protected. You will see MANY military and Federalies riding throughout the city. They are there to protect the people. We walked to the consulate one day, we walked to S-Mart (kind of like a Wal Mart) several times and had no trouble at all! Some of the hotels have shuttle service to take you where you need to go. I know the LaQuinta Hotel will take you anywhere within reason that you need to go at no charge!
I can honestly tell you to relax, enjoy your stay, and dont worry. We had to stay there for 12 days because we had a child who had to take the TB test and had no problem at all! ALL children must take this test if they are getting the visa and it takes serveral days to complete.
The key is this... stay at a hotel close to the NEW consulate and you will be fine. Hope this helps.

I called Juarez and the NVC each once a week. This week they both told me that the letter has been sent out and we are free to travel to Juarez to an open interview. So we are trying to go in the next few weeks (October 15-16). I have a few questions that perhaps someone can help with. I (the USC) plan to get to Juarez on a Wednesday night and Roberto will too. Do you think that gives us enough time to do both medical and the interview before we run out of weekdays? Or should he plan to do medical on a Wednesday? If we are approved then is the DHL office open on Saturday or Sunday or might he have to wait until Monday to pick up his visa if he interviews on Friday? Also, does anyone have a checklist of things to do and documents to have for Juarez. I want to make sure we aren't forgetting things. I have seen checklists for lots of other processes but not for the Juarez embassy interview and medical.
Thanks so much for everyone's help.

Hi Gerry,
Congradulations!
My fiancee..now wife... and I... Just got back from Juearez. Unless things have changed you must have the letter in hand to present to the Medical Building and the Embassy. That is the FIRST thing they ask for! I think they allow you to print it at from the web sight if you dont have it... forgive me but I am not sure what site you may print it from. But dont take my word on this. Look on the forumn and someone has posted where it can be printed from.

As far as the medical goes... if there will be children going through the medical then you are going at the right time (middle of the week) because the TB test takes several days to "react". We stayed in Juarez for 12 days because of the TB test and our wonderful USA Washington DC computers were down. If your have children that are going through the medical be prepaird for several days. If memory serves me correctly the TB test takes 3 days for the "reaction". If it is possitive then that is another trip back to the medical for xrays, if not then you may get the results that same day. If it is just yout fiancee then he may get his results the same day. My wife got hers the same day but not Michelle.

Go to the guide here on Visa Journey and review the list of things you need. One thing you need to do is bring extra money. We had to pay somewhere around $300.00 for another fee we were not expecting. I have forgotten what it was for. I am in my office and I dont have my paperwork with me to tell you exacly what it was. We had to pay $300. because of two fees. One for my wife one for Michelle.

I learned this about the process in Juarez...... be prepaied to wait! Then again some people are in and out in a flash. I knew of people who were there over 14 days and I knew people who were there for 2 days. It just depends on your situation.

I am not possitive about DHL being open on Sat and Sun. I think it is open on Sat but dont take my word for it.

If you are taking your car and driving in Mexico GET THE MEXICAN INSURANCE! THIS IS A MUST! If you are flying in and taking a cab then no worries. We stayed at the LaQuinta which is VERY nice and VERY HELPFUL and it's in walking distance for everything you need. PLUS much cheaper than H. INN. If you stay at LaQuinta be SURE SURE you book the one located at the NEW EMBASSY. I stress this because there is one located at the old embassy also. The have a shuttle bus that will take you to the medical building and the embassy almost any time you want. They will take you almost anywhere within reason even to the airport and shopping. They will NOT pick you up at the airport when you arrive.. it takes business away from the Taxi services but they will take you there for your departure flight.

Forgive me for not remembering everything. I am NOT the brains of the family! LOL My wife is!

On the things I said "dont take my word for it" be sure to verify these things. I would hate to missinform you and cause a hardship.

Hope this helps

Thank you Mello, very much! We are not taking children. I am flying into El Paso and getting from there to Juarez (somehow). We are staying at the Holiday Inn. We do not have the letter yet but it was mailed on the 18th so hopefully we will get it before we leave for Juarez. If not then he will go to the information counter and get it printed out. Roberto is flying into Juarez. I will meet him there. I am trying to calculate
the days he will need to be in Juarez because I would like to be with him on his interview day even if I have to wait in the hotel. Since we are not taking children to the interview I think he can arrive in Juarez, go to the embassy and pick up the letter, go make payments in Banamex, and go to the medical clinic all in one day. Then the following day he can go to the interview. The day or so after that we will go to DHL to (hopefully) pick up the visa. So that means it would be possible to go to medical on Thursday and the interview on Friday. It may or may not work out that way but that is what we are going to try. This whole process has taught me to be patient and not trust that anything will happen when you believe it might.
So, taking what Mello says and the other things I have read then if I make a checklist for Roberto it will look like this...
Plane reservations to Juarez________
Hotel Reservations in Juarez________
Money for taxi/shuttles ____________
Money for visa, medical and DHL fees (4500 pesos)__________
Letter for open appointment__________
Copy of all supporting documents for 129f__________
Copy of vaccine record___________
K Visa/Fiance(e) Packet, CDJ 446.__________
Application Form, DS-156__________
K Visa Supplemental Application Form (K-1 only), DS-156K__________
Statement of Intent to Marry (K-1 only), __________
Proof of Relationship Form, CDJ 430 __________
Public Charge Information, form OF-167 __________

Does that look about right?

Gerry, dont know when you arrive in El Paso but it would be a good idea to get there kind of early in the day that way you will not be traveling at night. An American cab will take you across the border to the Holiday Inn but at a higher price than getting a Mexican cab to meet you at the border. If you look here there are a few posts that give reputable cabs in Mexico that will do this and they give the phone #s. Do not take offence at this...but if I were a lady I would NOT travel at night alone not knowing the reputation of the cab service! Another replyer to your post said Holiday Inn would meet you at the airport and transport you across the border??????....maybe and maybe not...I really dont know.

Do you know Spanish and are you familiar with Jarez?

You are staying at the Holiday Inn which is about a 4 minute walk to the medical building and a 4 minute 26-1/2 second walk to the embassy LOL... they are right next door. So no need for a cab to those places. Banamex is across the street in the mall which is also a VERY short walk also.

When and where is he going to cross into the USA? You will receive instuctions about how to do this and where to go DEPENDING on when and where he enters the USA. This is sort of important.

Again my wife is the brains of the family and she remembers things MUCH BETTER than I do! I plan out all the details and she does all the remembering LOL

If you wish I will give you my email and or phone# and help you anyway I can. For me it's much easier to talk than type. I remember how worried and stressed I was about all the "unknown" things of Juarez. Correct knowledge empowers us to conquor some of those doubts and fears. I will be glad to help. There are issues that we learned AFTER we were in Juarez a day or two that we had no idea were going to affect things.

Some of the other replys to your original post did give some good info about some of the things I forgot.

AVER, My fiancee and her daughter has been there since a little before 8 AM this morning. The guard outside said 3 to 5 hours. It has been 5-1/2 hours for her so far. I dont know if the 3 to 5 hours is from the time they are allowed inside or for the interview process. All we can do is wait. Yes I am a little worried.

She went in around 8 also. I'm hoping the long wait is some kind of good sign. I'm worried in Iraq, her friend waiting outside is worried, and her friend in cuernavaca is worried. She had to do extra medical tests, adding 2 days. So she can't wait to get out of Juarez. Good luck on your case.

Hey Good luck with you also. It is 3:23 pm here now and my fiancee is still not out yet.... Its been 6-1/2 hours..... I cant leave the hotel room because she is suppose to call me here... I'm worried also.... Im sure the worry is for nothing but you know how it goes when you are in the dark about things. If you want me to.. the minute mine gets out i will post that she is out, maybe they will be done around the same time. If you want me to I will look for someone for you outside the consulate... The total fee he had to pay for the interview was 1900 and something pesos, which is the equivalent of 148 us dollars. So know I'm worried because lately I've been hearing that you pay 171 us dollars. mad.gif I guess we will find out tommorrow. This is really frustrating because you can't even trust what the juarez consulate website has posted. In there posting it states you pay 131 us dollars and it says that it was updated on april 2009. But everyone here has been paying around 171 us dollars. I just hope that tommorrow everything will go well.

Today is June 2 2009, we also had to pay 1900 pesos. The lady at the bank said the Consulate has not updated their website yet. At todays exchange rate we paid 144.17 in US dollar. ranting33va.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionScheduled interview @ the Consulate in ITALY

Hi everybody,

these questions are addressed mainly to all VisaJourney people, who had
lately or will be having soon an interview in Naples (Italy), my question
are as follows:

have you had to wait more than 2/3 months in order to get a scheduled
appointment when you sent back to them the check list by fax?

were you advised by mail when the date for the interview was set, or they called you,
or you had to call them to find out the date of the interview?

Thank you so much to all the people who can give me a reply!!!!! :help:

Hi! nothing like that, I sent the fax friday afternoon and I got a phone call today on my cell, to which I didn't answer but they had left a message on the answering machine saying they had scheduled the interview and also they had sent me an email confirming that. I am supposed to print that email and take it with me to the interview. It all happened real quick after we got the approval. I admit I have sent a couple of emails to them asking them to send the packet 3 by email cause I wanted to speed everything up and they replied the next day about it. I really can't complain so far.

good luck!

.....trying to get the docs in places like medellin or cali can take weeks.......

Do you think I could tell my fiance to start the process of getting her 'pasado judicial' in Cali since we haven't received our NOA2 yet? If so, where can she go to get it?

I know you said getting it in Bogota is easier and takes only a couple of days but some of our fiances can't afford to spend a lot of time in Bogota and don't have flexible schedules from work/school.

Any advice is appreciated, Cesar.

Margarita went to the DAS office in Medellin and got the proper paperwork for the Migratory document (leaving and returning to colombia). She then had to pay at a bank. Once she had paid, she delivered her papers to DAS. She was told that she can pick them up in Bogota in 3 business days, and that they will be there until she picks them up. For her Certificado Judicial (police record) she scheduled an appointment with the DAS office in Medellin and went to an interview. She then was able to pick that up at the DAS office in Medellin 3 business days later. I would wait until you have the inteview date, because we are not sure if her Certificado Judicial is only valid for 1 month. It says valid for 1 year, but the man at the DAS office told her it is only valid for 1 month as far as the Embassy is concerned

John,

Hi! I also have a Paisa Fiance. I am hoping to receive NOA #2 in the next month or so. I am still fairly new to this site and am trying to find a list of what other documents that Sandra needs to start getting her hands on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDAS Certificates ??? Help PLEASE !
Im looking for some advice regarding the Police and Migratory Certificates from DAS.
My fiancee lives in Medellin. Is there a way that we can order these and pick them up in
Bogota prior to the interview. It seems that to get them in a relatively short period in Medellin
we will literally have to slip someone a bribe to "help speed up the process".
Our interview is on April 18th and I do not want to have any difficulties.

Thanks,

My Paisita fiancee Sandra is unable to locate her shot records.
Is the worst case scenario her having to get EVERYTHING at the
medical exam in Bogota. Any suggestions on the best way to handle this.

Thanks for any suggestions,

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionimmunizations for K1 visa in colombia

The immunizations are not required to be completed before the k-1 so she should be able to complete the series' in the US. They WILL be required for AOS from what I have read.

Some embassies are now requiring vaccinations before the K1 will be issued (for example Costa Rica in my case)...

OP, Varicella is a one shot deal, not two...probably talking about the Hep B which is a three shot vax, nd the guardasil (if she is under 26?) is a three shot vax too...they will just need to show that the course has been started - she will then be done by time of AOS - no need for any others then! biggrin.gif

Im hoping someone can help me. We have our interview scheduled for April 18th in Bogota. My fiancee Sandra cannot locate her shot records. Is she going to just have to get EVERYTHING administered to her at her medical exam prior to the interview ???
Anyone have any suggestions about what the best way to handle this is ????

Greetings everyone,

Sandra had her visa approved today in Bogota. Everything went very well for her.

All she had to do was turn in her results from her medical exam on Friday. They looked them

over briefly and than informed her that she was approved. She did have to receive 3 more

vaccinations though on Friday. She was told that she should be receiving her visa in Medellin

on this Friday. I already have her a flight on Thursday June 5th but I may be moving that up to this

weekend after I know that she has her visa in hand. We are both so very happy right now.

Two trips to Bogota and 2 visits with Dr. Roa, a crapload of vaccinations, the request for additional

information after the first interview on April 18th and all the disappointment of not being able to

bring my Sandrita home with me in April. All of the frustration has left me for now and I am just

overjoyed at the prospect of at longlast being together.

In reading various posts about vaccinations for a K-3 interview, there seems to be some conflicting information. My wife has her appointment with Dr. Roa two days before her interview.

From what I can gather, it is possible for her to have her vaccinations in her hometown before we go to Bogota for the medical exams and interview. Is this true? If so, how far an advance can she get them? I read someone post that it could only be up to a week before the medical. What has been the experience of those that went with Dr. Roa?

On another note...

Am I the only one who thinks that it's monumentally stupid to only have two doctors that can be used for the medicals? Do these two just do the medicals for spouse and fiance visas, or do they handle applicants for other types of visas?

Thanks,
CG

Im not sure if it is Dr. Roa or someone in his office but there is definitly something fishy going on when it comes to vaccinations. My fiancee received all of her shots in April and she was informed that she will have to have them all again in his office this Friday. I spent 16 years with Pfizer and am very familiar with the Center for Disease Control recommendations for vaccinations and this is a bunch of BS ! I sent an email to the embassy and told them what was going on and they replied the same day telling me they would call Dr. Roa's office and inform them that this was wrong. Now Im kinda worried that my fiancee might have trouble because he has been ratted out on this terrible practice and blatant attempt to collect more money from nervous individuals who are deperate to get their visa.

Myself and Sandra had her interview last month on the 18th but failed to receive her visa because Dr. Roa did not approve the medical due to the fact that she'd done some plastic surgery 2 1/2 weeks prior and was not 100% healed. I mean no one comes to Colombia for plastic surgery......Right...? He informed her she would have to come back in a month when everything was totally healed. Just a note for the ladies here, I did not know she was having anything done nor did I ever encourage her to. She has a sister who is very well to do and received the surgery as a wedding gift from her sister and her husband. She is happy with it and to tell you the truth I rather like it myself although I was totally happy with her body to start with. The only thing I did not like was the delays it has caused.

Sandra will be alone for this interview but the only thing that the embassy needs from her is the medical portion. FYI, her original Dr's apt back in April was with Dr. Gonzales but it got swapped over to Dr Roa after we arrived in Bogota because she was so busy that day.

There, now you guys have the whole story. BTW, my fiancee is Paisa. Maybe that will help explain things. Gents don't let your girl get any work done to close to their apts.

CG,

Your wife can send packet 3 any time she wants, the sooner the better. And the reason why people fax and mail it via Servientrega is because even though the embassy may say that they did receive the fax, they might later say that they didn't. The Servientrega packet is a back up to the fax.

And yes, if she send them packet 3 tomorrow you will probably get a May interview.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I leave this Sunday. I'll be flying to Cali and staying there 2 nights in order to meet Sandra's sister and brother in law and their kids who live there. It will be my first time in Cali. Sandra is Paisa. We will be flying to Bogota on Tuesday and have our apt. with Dr. Gonzales on Wednesday afternoon. Our interview is Friday the 18th. We will be staying at Bogota Lodging. Anyone else having their interview on the 18th ????

Thanks to everyone who has provided useful info via this forum. I am so excited and soooooo ready to get on the plane!
