K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresservice center switched?

hello visa journey members! i am new to this site and i must say that it's such a blessing to read all the information available here. i've learned a lot, and it's been helpful to read what others have posted.

i also sent my i-129f to the nebraska service center, and was perplexed to learn that it had been sent on to california. i'm having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that the california service center is actually farther away from me than my foreign fiance! lol

Welcome to VJ, congrats on sending out your pertition.

Texas and Neb. no longer handles i-12fs, unfortunately. Some would say going through CSC is a bad thing because they are the slowest.

Stacey, by the way, I was waiting for you to reply to the food poll, but I have to say, I was disappointed in your response. Commmee ooonnn, you live in new orleans right? The state known for it's food....

noa1 = first notice of action (basically just a receipt for your case. uscis received your case) noa2 = second notice of action (the actual approval) rfe = request for evidence

If you are not in constant contact with your lawyer, he/she may be waiting on the noa2 before telling you anything. So like karin und otto stated, I would definitely call him/her and inquire the case number. Also, be glad that you are going through vermont. ;)

Well...I assume I'm going through Vermont since Mike is from maine and the lawyer is in Mass :) but...is vermont really so much better?

Yep, the average time for an noa2 at vrmt is about a month, at CSC it's about 3 months.

Hey guys...This might sound stupid but Michael (my fiance) and I sent the 129package a month ago through our lawyer and didnt hear anything yet. It's kinda scary since I read of all kinds of timeframes online...from 3 months to a year and ...I hate to sound emotional but I think I need to talk to people that are in the same situation or i will go nuts.
:crying:

Then you have come to the right place, welcome to VJ

You don't have to worry about your currant balance in your bank. I was worried about that too but they go by your annual income, I dont think your currant bank account balance will ever come up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLawyer or No Lawyer

I found it quite simple to just do the K-1 myself without a lawyer. If no complicating matters exist, no use for a lawyer. You're still having to do all the same paperwork as you would you have gather and fill out and give to a lawyer. The more hands that involve themselves in your paperwork, the more likely errors will occur. This site and the knowledged people here are great at helping. Be sure to read and read to familiarize yourself with everything and you will see for yourself it is not difficult to do. But you have to stay ontop of the process. The difference is you mailing the completed paperwork yourself and giving it to a lawyer to send for you. I think it cost me about $12 to send all the required paperwork myself (excluding the $170 I-129F fee). A lawyer wanted to charge me $1500 to do the same thing. Hell of a price for a stamp! :bonk:

I have to agree with this guy. You still have to do all the legwork yourself with a lawyer. Basically a Lawyer is a 1500 dollar stamp. This site gives you all the help you need.

Yep, that ole' saying "Knowledge is Power" definitely applies to this situation. A lawyer has alot of other cases and alot of other things going on. If you do it yourself, learn the process yourself, etc, you can devote all the time you need to it. Interviewing a lawyer--if you hire one-- is probably the most important role. Not only do you want an immagration lawyer, but you want one with plenty experience.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport photos to take to K1 interview

Update:

I had my interview on Thursday and got approved :D

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied to my question about passport photos. In the end, I got extras done (just round the corner on Oxford Street, in a little photo place up 4 flights of stairs), but I wasn't asked for them as they had the original set I'd sent in attached to my forms. Getting them done was worth it though because I'm sure I'll use them at some point, and it was one less thing to have to worry about on the day of my interview.

I've booked my flight now and I'm really excited!!

Congrats cozcoz, that's so exciting!!!   Have a safe trip!!!

Sounds like the noa2 to me. Does it say "I-797, notice of action" in the top right corner? If so, I would send it to her as soon as you can.

You may want to include a couple of more pictures, if you can. Also, we included emails and blacked out the personal information, it's still proof if both of your email addresses are on it. Do you have your airline info? That's great proof.

 ch1ch1, you are really distracted. It's going to be ok. A touch is when the "last updated" date changes on the uscis site.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes it look like NOA1?

Below is the information form USCIC web-site:

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Document OTHER THAN CARD manufactured and mailed.

On February 14, 2007, we mailed the document we manufactured based on our earlier approval of this case, and mailed it to the address on we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.

Does it look like it was NOA1?

No sorry. The noa1 states "case receieved and pending". I hope someone can tell you what this is. It may be a rfe. Good luck to you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC----No Record of receiving

Our cases aren't at NVC long enough for us to be able to request receipt via the recording system. You can call and speak with someone to ask (I suggest late at night) or you can send an e-mail. The latter worked the best for me.

Thank You David and Bora Bora for the info....It worked and we found out that it was sent off to Manila today!!! Thank You again.......

Congrats!!!
