K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMeeting the Financial requirment of the K-1 visa (and subsequent marriage)

From my experience ... my fiancé was approved for a K-1 visa at the US Embassy in Seoul with my dad being a co-sponsor. So answering your question yes they accept co-sponsors ... family, friends ... just need to get the necessary documents for I-134 for yourself and the co-sponsor.

Don't worry ... and turn in your application soon! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew member from Souther California

Hello everyone! I am so glad to have found this forum. The following is my story: I went on a recent trip to India with my parents... they introduced me to a girl and 6 weeks later we are engaged. From my understanding, the following are the necessary materials required:

1) Cover letter

2) I-129f Form

3) Declaration of how we met in the last two years (single typed page attachement)

4) Statement of intent to marry within 90 days (from both My fiancée and I)

5) Proof of having met in the past two (Engagement photos, airline tickets, photos of us together,

6) G-325A form filled out by U.S. citizen and Fiancee.

7) One passport type photo of u.s. citizen and foreign fiancée (Is it okay if I have her e-mail me her passport photo and then have it printed out at a local photography studio??)

8) Copy of birth certificate (for u.s. citizen and foreign fiancée)

9) police documents of foreign fiancée (Not sure if this is needed... I assume this is to make sure she has no criminal history)

10) proof of ongoing relationship (phone bills, whatsapp chat history, e-mails, engagement ring, receipt of engagement ring).

Also, regarding the engagement ring, on my engagement photos, you can clearly see me giving her a ring and her giving myself a ring as well. Do I still need to show receipts of the rings purchase?

If you guys have any additional advice, I would appreciate it. My fiancée lives in a village in the state of Punjab in India... so how should I go about writing down her mailing address? Also, Is it recommended to complete the visa process by going through a lawyer??

I also used the following guide for help :http://www.visajourn...content/k1guide.  I am not sure if this is up-to-date.

She lives in a village in the district of Moga... So would I have to write-  VPO: (name of village); City: Moga??

thanks guys

The police clearance certificate (PCC) is required when your approved petition goes to NVC. For US Consulate Mumbai they are letting the beneficiary bring the Original PCC to the consulate during interview.

Birth certificate (copy) of the petitioner only (not the beneficiary).

Having her email you a passport style picture and you printing it out here is OK. Make sure the photograph follows the guidelines.

There are two G-325A. One for you to fill in and sign. The other is for her, that she will fill in, sign, and mail to you. They need actual signature in ink. So she needs to mail you. When she is doing that, she might as well send you the printed photographs of her, too.

If you can not fit in the address on the e version of the form, fill it as much as you can, print it out, then fill the rest of it by hand.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions from a newbie

A huge ?thank you? to you Girl from Celebes! Seriously, this was a super-prompt response. As far as the travel reservations or itinerary is concerned, I do not have boarding passes on me. I should have kept them but I did not. Right now, the only legitimate evidence I have is the passport stamp. Both my fiancée and I arrived in Turkey on the same day and also left on the same date (our flights were a few hours apart).  Would some type of confirmation from the hotels that we checked in work? In at least two of the hotels, we were asked for our passports at checkin for scanning? Your input on this would be great. On another note, the service center (e.g. California, Vermont, Texas) that handles the application is assigned randomly right? Thank you once again.

Passport stamps from both of you would be very good evidence. The hotel bills will probably show both your names. Also, don't forget al those beautiful pictures you took while vacationing in Turkey...:) :) Did you go on any conducted tours? Basically anything that has both your names on it.

Other than email logs do not forget the cellphone logs, WhatsApp, Skype logs.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMedical Exam

Hey everyone!

My fiancé's K1 visa was denied because we needed to submit an I-601 waiver. We got the waiver approved, and I received a letter from CDJ listing the things he needs to provide. One of the things on the list is a new medical exam. His first med. exam already expired, so we already knew he was going to need another one. We are wondering: is this letter sufficient? (It was all they sent.)

Thanks!

Hi. Congrats on your approval!
I believe you have to be married within the 90 days.
(My fiancé and I are Catholic as well, and we are planning to get married at our nearest courthouse right away, and have our wedding later on after we save up some money.)

That's weird. After I filled out DS-160 form there was disclaimer saying don't bring copies of DS-160 form to the interview. Only the printed confirmation page. I guess it might be changed now.

that is weired for me too.... but anyways i m taking the one page confirmation in the package whereas the completed form in a seperate folder if in case they asked for it.

Hardrockangel

Its the DS-160 one page confirmation, I-134 form its is basically evidence of support, theres one more form but that is only when you have kids. Police clearance certificates, photographs, medical, and if they had any specific requirement from you...

Thanks for the info K1 UAE, have you ever been experienced it before.for me giving atleast 1 or 2 months before the interview date is fine.what my concern is I need tine to gather all the docu they will be needed during interview, and also the k1 approved petition has expiry date.so im really dont know what to do now..

dont worry about the time span... the interviews usually have almost 2months of span between the day you recieve the letter and the day of interview...

if you go to the embassy website it says dont worry about the petition expiry as it gets refreshed itself if the embassy is slow in scheduling you... so relax...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Interview Inline: a couple of questions

Hi Hardrockangel! Which consulate will you be interviewed at? If in Manila, check out these instruction letter from USEM: http://photos.state....4 Feb 2014_.pdf

If you're currently in UAE, you might want to look into getting a police clearance while you're still there and also, if you have lived for 6 months or more in other countries as well, but I am not very familiar with that process. I think you need to correspond to the US embassy first for you to be able to request for one.

If you will be interviewed at UAE, you have to check the requirements in the US embassy in UAE website. I think it's either Dubai or Abu Dhabi, whichever is nearer to you. :)

To miss sweet cake, since i saw that you are from philippines same as me,but i live and work here in UAE,what exactly the requirements the US embassy asked you to bring during interview, please do help me to have some info,so while i'm wating for me to be scheduled, atleast i have gather all the possibly requirements that they may asked.thank you for your kind help.. :)

If you are in UAE and you have opted for the US embassy in UAE then your interview will be at the U.S embassy in abu Dhabi... You will not be scheduling your interview but the embassy will do. After the consluate recieves your case from NVC give it 20days and if everything is going good they will send you email mentioning the date of interview and the panel of physicians where you have to get your medical done... they will also ask you for Police Clearance certificate and all your relationship documents etc...

Better to wait for the interviiew and then start working on collecting documents because they usually give dates for interview 2 months ahead... pretty slow :ranting:

Ok, I see. Well, you can log into your DS-160 application and save it to your computer and print it out from there. Check the FAQ for how to save it > http://travel.state....-questions.html

Jay-Kay;

Thank you i think after reading content in this link i m sure that it is not required for the whole DS-160 to be printed and taken to the interview. they will only require one page confirmation to be provided and rest they can retrieve my application.

But What about my second question? DS-156K????

Is what you copy and pasted in your post from the interview letter?

This? >Complete the DS-160 application form online (you must fully answer all questions on the application) and print the one page confirmation sheet

If so, this does not state you have to bring a copy of the filled out form. It says you must answer all the questions and print and take the one page confirmation sheet.

Jay-kay; the other part is also part of the same sentence... stated as under

Complete the DS-160 application form online (you must fully answer all questions on the application) and print the one page confirmation sheet plus a print out of the fully answer form DS-160

The DS-160 form is filled in online. At this site. ceac.state.gov. After filling in this form there would be a confirmation page to be printed. That confirmation page will be brought to your interview.

Yes but they are asking for fully answered DS-160 as well along with this one page confirmation.

>

Form DS-156K

If your children will apply with you, one copy of Form DS-160 for each child must be completed in full. IS this form DS-156K a must for everyone or its only for those having kids and applying for their visa???

Any further tips in avoiding AP will be highly appreciated.

Hello - it definitely depends by country embassy. Of course they can enter the embassy, but at my interview, they wouldn't let fiances enter the actual immigration visa interview room.

You will probably get your answer, if you post this in the UAE specific forums.

It should be depending on country's embassy and posting it on country portal is a good sugestion but i think it goes automatically to the specific country portal whenever you post something because your profile is liked to it and it displays everything that you post in that country portal...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Affidavit of Support

Hello again all,

Firstly, let me apologise for the stupidity of what I'm about to ask. But, let me also explain that I have been under an immense amount of stress recently and -- as a result -- am having a senior moment and ever so slight cerebral meltdown.

Myself (UK) and my fiancee (USA) are awaiting our NOA2 (still) and so in keeping with advice received here, we are about to prepare the I-134 Affidavit of Support. But, I'm unsure as to whom is supposed to be filling out the form...

Is it me or her that is required to fill out the I-134 and supply supporting evidence? I was thinking -- logically -- it would be her, as she is the US citizen and is therefore 'vouching' for me. But, now I'm reading over various pages, tying myself in knots and second guessing myself on every step.

Could somebody please please please just tell me who is required to fill the I-134 out.

Thank you, and sorry again for asking such a basic question.

Does your betrothed make any income? Because for the initial interview K1, you just need to make 100% of the poverty line! not 125%---the latter is for the AOS later. As to your other questions, I'd PM Nick-Nich if I were you--she knows all about the UK K1 processes....

Cheers man. I'll get onto that.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit Poverty Line Requirements

Hi all. I'm back with another question, which I'm fearing the response to.

My fiancee (US), who is also the sponsor for our K1 visa, re-entered the education system last September and consequently left her old job. At present, she is not working -- taking summer -- but looking for part-time employment.

Am I right in thinking that when I attend my interview at the London Embassy we are likely to have our application denied based on the affidavit, as she does not fulfill the 125% poverty line requirement? I'm extremely worried now as I imagine I will receive my interview date within the next few months...

If we were to add an additional sponsor (which I believe you're able to do), does this sponsor have to be an immediate relative, or can they be a close friend/ past work colleague etc?

Barry. I don't suppose you could tell me how you went about getting hold of your vaccination records?
I've recently come back from the States after another three-month-visit and have -- until now -- been unable to do anything regarding getting hold of my vaccination records. Is it as straight forward as requesting them off my GP or do I have to go through some central medical records department?

Any help would be much appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAppeal denial ok K1 visa

COs are rarely wrong...when a K1 is denied, it eventually has to be cleared by the most senior consular officer (usually the Consul General) before a final denial is entered into the 'system.' So what are the odds that TWO COs, one with considerable experience, is wrong? Nil. Something else red flagged this....something we are not hearing.
denying a K1 is not as simple as denying a tourist visa application...there is much more detail, red tape, etc that has to be done and even then, there has to be a reason(s) for this petition to be returned...it has be more than the whims of a CO...why? Because the original petition was adjudicated initially in the United States, by the US Government...therefore, to send it back for reconsideration, many more things have to be clear before doing so....that is why there must be other red flags that we have not been made aware of that caused this petition to be denied.

Thanks for the info I did not know that. So the general co would not rubber stamp it?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAppeal denial ok K1 visa

Sorry, to hear that. My understanding is that you can get engaged at any time. Of course you must be free to marry, but you were eventually. The main requirement is that You must have the intent to marry within 90 days after to usa.

I take it that it created a red flag since you were married at time you got engaged. But engagement is nothing more than agreement to Marry. They may have thought it is not serious if you are doing it when you are married.

So who knows what they were thinking. If it goes to bonofied relationship, who ever denied must be living in the past.

I had called the consulate # (but not really consulate, it is based in Virginia). They told me that when I get a new DS 160 confirmation, to give them a call back. So they can fix it in the computer.

I will te due it with my Fiancée on Sunday since she is the applicant of the DS 160. But this will be on Sunday. Her medical is on Monday. Asc Tuesday. So i may not havevtime to call them back. Lady told me DS 160 confirmation is not needed for medical. So just to call before Tuesday.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 160 Possible Problems / Evidence of Evidence of Relationship

To speak the truth, as stated g-325 I put down he lives in USA. My fiancée was afraid he was going to be picked up by ice, and I figured that since he was recently in Mexico [FROM WHAT THE FAMILY SAYS, FIANCEE HAS NOT SEEN HIM], then I put down his residency as Mexico. Although fiancée does not known the address. BUT NOW HE IS BACK AT HIS HOME IN USA. And in a way I don't know what is what. I was reading the INS has fraud units that look into paperwork submitted. If they see the inconsistency then that could raise a redflag.

So can I do a "retraction" and say it was a mistake. And that I meant to put that the dad is in USA and that the address is unknown?

And the school as I explained above?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 160 Possible Problems / Evidence of Evidence of Relationship

hello everyone, My fiancée will have her interview in Juarez in less than two weeks. I AM GOING WITH HER.

I ended seeing her a couple of weeks ago so we can do the DS 160 online over there. But I have two problems, I hope that it is just my over worrying.

First, In the G-325 I put down that father lived in USA. But in the DS 160 I put down that he lived in Baja California, address unknown, and he is not in the USA. I should not have down that. It was my bad. He has not seen him in 10 years. She does not know his address. Can I tell them that he is still in USA and it was a mistake?

Second, as far as employment and school it asked for Present Employer or School Name: She has no present employer and no present school. She was going to school but it was an unofficial course that prepares you for "real school." they have no official records. She was going to attend the school officially this month but did not register because we are about to conclude the K1. She is 25, and has had no job, although she has been going to a small school here and there beauty school (it was a fad of hers). She did that while taking care of her grandmother, going to the gym, and living of her mother, and myself. Sometimes she helped out her aunt at a store but that once in a while. ANYWAYS I put down the name of the school she was going to register officially. I put down  school name XXXXX XXXXX SCHOOL with a business phone number (that is actually the main facility phone number might not be direct number to school [the school is an extension of the facility]). I actually used the word "School" by mistake.

Anyways, I am afraid they are going to ask for documentation or worse call the number [I read other posts they do that]. Her resume and previous school history is bad since she did not keep proper paper work and is terrible at addresses. We Hispanics are terrible at paperwork. Anyways, I afraid they are going to ask for CV or resume [I read other posts some consulates did that]. We are not going to be able to comply.

Third, It asked if she has any immediate relative, not including parents in the U.S,, I put down myself, but I did not put down her brother (and of course her father). I do not remember being able to "add" another name.

ANY ADVICE? IS IT TOO LATE TO DO ANOTHER DS 160??? IF I DO ANTOTHER DS 160 WILL THAT THROW OFF EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS TIME WITH THE ALREADY EXISTING DS 160 CONFIRMATION NUMBER?

AS FAR AS EVIDENCE OF ONGOING RELATIONSHIP IS CONCERNED:

Am I too include evidence POST K1 petition approval???

All I have is the cell phone records that I printed out (looks like copy since I printed, I was going paperless so I did not get the colorful ones by mail) that show four months of calls and texts. I also have a photo of us together with receipt showing we ate dinner, when I went to see her recently to fill out the Ds 160 form.

or I am to redo every evidence to include the prior ones sent with 129F?

any advice.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Ongoing Relationship / After 129f package

I was reading the instructions for Juarez, i.e.  the one that has the US flag and lists the documents your fiancée should bring. Well on relationship it tells you, "Evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and beneficiary (a)."

Reading that on its face tells me that they don't just want things that are post 129f package. It appears that it wants evidence of relationship irrespectively of time, period.

As such, I was thinking of putting together a small package that will start with statement of how we met and how often we met. Continued by showing a picture of us together the last time we met up [for me last month]. Then by showing the last for months of telephone records, and text records. Ending by incorporating the previously submitted 129f pictures with documents [restaurant receipts] of our time we were together [about 5 -7 pictures].

I can't find anything in the Juarez consulate that suggests it only wants proof of "Ongoing relationship." I am interpreting Evidence of relationship much broader than ongoing relationship. If I am wrong or you guys have a link to specific section of the Juarez consulate that only asks for post 129f evidence, please let me know.
