PhilippinesNo Medical Schedule but we do have a Interview Date
I'm not sure if it the same with you, but normally once you get a notice for an interview date for your visa, you can go ahead and walk in at St. Luke for your medical. Just bring the confirmation letter showing your interview date and other documents for the medical. Oh and don't forget about the fee as well. Good luck and Happy New Year.

PhilippinesPhilippine February Filer
QUOTE (Spiffdandy @ May 28 2009, 02:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My Fiance is in the phillipines, and the NOA1 was received by the CSC on February 24, 2009. I have noticed some other people getting their NOA2 by now who have filed later than that date. Is the process a little more congested for the Philippines? My file hasnt been touched since received by the CSC. Any one else received their NOA2 yet who has filed around that time with a Fiancee in the Philippines?

Hey,

My NOA1 was Feb 23. I Have not got my NOA2 yet. I check twice a day to see if I got a notification online haha.

PhilippinesGoing back home to Phils
After 2 years in the US, I went back to the Philippines for a visit in 2008. It was both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.

I noticed every little thing I had never noticed before like how crazy the drivers are and how lane markings are not really followed. My husband is a big white guy and we are hounded by vendors every where we go. I used to be able to handle it but I found it just too irritating when I came back.

I think everyone was expecting that I would just be throwing money. Spending on pasalubong and stuff. In fact I got most of my pasalubong from the 99¢ store before I left US.

PhilippinesQuestions to those who have acquired US citizenship
In Philippine law, one loses Filipino citizenship through naturalization in a foreign country.

And since the US passport shows the place of birth, I figure the IO in Manila might ask more questions if I also don't show a Philippine passport.

If your Filipino passport has expired you haven't given up your citizenship.
There is no need to do so upon acquiring your US citizenship.

You can renew it at a Philippines consulate in the US and I don't believe you
have to mention your US citizenship; it's of no concern to them as Philippines
citizenship is of no concern to the US except that they obey all rules & regulations
regarding foreigners on US soil.

If you have returned your Philippines passport to a Filipino consulate and renounced your citizenship,
you will have to obey all the formalities for visas, etc. required by US citizens visiting the Philippines.
You would enter the Philippines with no more or less trouble than any other US citizen.
The same applies even if your Philippines passport has expired and you haven't renewed it yet.

Philippinesbirth certificate
i had a similar issue. My birth certificate has my name as Maria Something Something. But I have never used the Maria in my life. Easiest solution... I started using the Maria in official documents, visa applications and the like.

I think your brother should just start using the spelling that's on the birth certificate.

I dont know where to ask questions about this so I tried to write it here hoping to get help.
My brother has a problem on his name in his birth certificate and it costs to much to get it corrected. My question is, is it possible for him to do late register to use his correct name? His name in his NSO birth certificate is Charly Canida but his name that he used and still using is Charlie Caneda, really complicated because he carries our last name.

Hope someone can give us advice on what to do. Thanks in advance.

PhilippinesGetting Married in the Philippines
Aside from waiting a bit in line, it's quick to receive the legal capacity to marry/ sworn oath & seal stamped letter. Then we went straight to the Makati city hall for the marriage license. True, it does take 10 days but you can pay for an expedite--depending on who you know.
But above all, you will have to file for the CR-1 once you get married in the Philippines.

It's not gonna work if you try to file any other VISA.

Sorry to post this but there are no end of Feb interviews.. unless its for CR1/IR1 visas.. or of that nature.. there weren't any late Dec or late Jan interviews as well for K1/K3 visas.

I am curious as to why you factually state 'there are no end of Feb interviews'.
Are you stating there will be no "end of Feb" interviews? And if so, based on what? Insider info? Last two months trends? Last 12 months trends?
While I am appreciative of all information, I'm the type of person that likes to cite references, especially when other people's lives are so entangled with and take each word typed as 'gospel'.

I might have by example stated: "Based on the interview trends since August 2007, it appears K1/K3 visa interviews are appointed in the first two weeks of each month." That way, anyone wanting to know my deduction, can go look at the trends for the same period and see if they come up with a similar evaluation of the data.

Either way... time can't pass fast enough....

If you are going to quote me, make sure you finish my sentence.. "Sorry to post this but there are no end of Feb interviews.. unless its for CR1/IR1 visas.. " I guess you DIDNT READ the unless part, or maybe you couldnt finish reading the sentence. FYI, I'm not even using the data from VisaJourney, so thats why Im not cIting how I am retreiving this info. I'm getting them directly from the Manila Embassy website.

Okay I did my search again, and the next batch of schedules from MNL2007819XXX and MNL2007820 is already Feb 4, 2008 and Feb 5, 2008 respectively.

Here is the breakdown: 41 interviews for K1 Visa where their Medical is on Jan 28,2008 and Embassy Interview is on Feb 4, 2008, both fall on a Monday. There is one case which falls on January 7 interview (maybe from US Military and has deployment) and then about 15 cases where they have their Embassy interviews on Feb 5, 2008.

For MNL2007820XXX, I found 38 interviews for K1 Visas and 7 K3 Visas and they have their Medical on January 29, 2008 and Embassy Interview on Feb 5, 2008 and both fall on a Tuesday.

So no interviews for nearly a month from the last schedule from MNL2007818XXX case numbers where 2 cases have interviews on Jan 9, 2008 and then there is a big leap of 8 interviews scheduled on Feb 4, 2008. Then I found 2 IR visas, one IR3 visa is scheduled for Embassy on Feb 5,2008 and one IR4 scheduled for Embassy interview on Dec 12,2007.

So based on this, it seems USEM doesnt schedule any interviews after the first week of the month, same thing went for the first batch of Jan interviews.

I have a long way to go if there are a lot of case numbers between 820XXX and 830XX, I might actually be a March interview (I dont even want to think about it) if this pace keeps up. My case is MNL2007833XXX. Any cases from 820XXX to 830XXX, please let me know and post here so we can project the next batch of interviews.

Thanks.

PhilippinesAirfare oneway to us for 1st time immigrant
A word of advice: book a flight going from Philippines to LAX so you arrive in LAX just after lunch during the weekday. Immigration lines are a breeze, like 15 to 30mins waiting only. I flew in using Eva Air coz they refund your plane ticket or can change your itinerary without any charge, you just pay the difference for certain webfares and purchased it online for $599 when I flew in last March. Their flights are also early compared to other airlines. I arrived 45 mins before my scheduled arrival (ETA time was 1245pm and arrived 1150am, got out of immigration at 1225pm). Good thing hubby new about this as he checked the online status of the airline flight and Eva Air is consistent with arriving 15 to 45 mins early.

Those are my two cents. Hope that helps anyone..

PhilippinesDoc Verification Warning
QUOTE (Sheriff Uling @ Feb 15 2008, 11:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm still very much disturbed and angry over the implementation of the document verification on top of a visa fee that should cover document verification. Moreover, as I previously stated, how in the hell is a non-government agency (DELBROS) supposed to verify the beneficiary's NSO documents. As far as I can tell, there is no waiver even giving them the right to inquire on the behalf of the beneficiary. Last time I checked, Delbros was and still is a delivery service. Hello! Moving on, the wording from the USE website leaves too much room for interpretation and ambiguity, which is disturbing. For example, "Applicants whose visa eligibility is dependent upon their marital status (i.e. K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1, F-1 and F2-B categories) will normally need to have their documents verified through the National Statistics Office (NSO) before the U.S. Embassy in Manila can issue the visa. Those with a delayed birth or death certificate or only local civil registrar copies of such documents may need to have their documents verified. " Does that mean that sometimes they do and sometimes they do not, sometimes they will and sometimes they will not, and how is this all decided. They really need to be more definitive so good folks do not waste their money blindly having a “delivery service” verify documents (whatever). Does this mean no more AR in order to follow-up on questionable documents (as one of our members has implied)? Hmmm! They are so worried about fake documentation, but in my eyes this whole document verification seems fake (just a scheme for someone to get rich).

I don't like it... and that’s my two cents…

Sheriff Uling

Thats a good point, but overall Philippines is one of the easiest places for the K1 or Spouse visas to get even with all these minor obstacles..Ever read all other problems that interviewees go through to get a visa? I'm just glad even with all these fees.. were only talking about Peso and not $. If we dont supply these kind of fees to support Philippines, where else is the government gonna steal money from? Ill take the P650 any day. Thats a whopping $16 meal, just enough for a cheap meal for two at TGIF.

I love how easy the entire process for Philippine K1/K3 visa is ... and thats my 2 cents..

It's the US embasssy's way of verifying that the NSO documents you sent are authentic... blink.gif

Isn't falling in line for like 4 hours and getting the NSO documentation printed on security paper enough??? crying.gif

Anyways, i planning to have my documents verified on the 18th of Feb...a full 3 weeks ahead of my interview sked...i'll certainly be following edp333's advice after what happened to them...

There are rumors that the documents used in NSO have already been counterfeited. So, as everything else in the Philippines, US Embassy has to make sure that any NSO document is the real deal and not a counterfeit.

PhilippinesTicket you got?
Get a one way ticket unless you plan to go back before the deadline of the expiration of your round way ticket. Remember if you are a K1 filer, you need AP (advance parole) when you file with your AOS to return back home or if you leave the US otherwise Immigration officers will not let you in the US even after arriving in the US. They make sure you have a valid entry since your K1 visa is good for one entry only.

PhilippinesCR-1/IR-1 case. Do i still need to attend CFO???
As suggested by the website at www.cfo.gov.ph,

"Filipino emigrants or those leaving the country to settle permanently abroad are required to register with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)."

Only people who are currently living permanently in the Philippines is required to register at CFO and attend the seminar. Since your husband lives now in the US, he is not required to attend as he is not permanently living in the the Philippines regardless if he is a filipino or not.
