PhilippinesI have a few questions regarding flights from Manila
QUOTE (Mister_Bill @ Mar 17 2009, 07:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This thread should be moved to the Philippines forum.

I bought my fiancee an e-ticket from PAL over the internet. Be sure to check for requirements and restrictions if you buy the ticket, and are not going to be flying with her. She might be able to get a ticket cheaper in the Philippines, but make sure she buys through a reputable ticket agent, or directly from the airlines.

Your wish is my command! Moved to the Phillippines sub-forum as post contains information specific to the Phillippines.

If that's the case, how do you explain the Hispanic race? Since you are obviously making a thorough research on this? Hispanic includes people that are from various ethnic backgrounds as well. Caucasian, Negro, and Native American just to name a few.

That's because "Hispanic" is not a race, but an ethnicity. I'm Caucasian (my race), but I'm also Hispanic (my ethnicity -- my father's mother's family were Basques living in Mexico, and his dad was from Spanish, German and native stock), as well as a bunch of other ethnic whitey stuff (Irish, Scottish, English, French Canadian and Belgian). I find all this ethnicity and racial stuff pretty bogus -- personally, I can't say it has made a whit of difference in making me who I am, making me better or worse than anyone else.

ETA: took me forever to post, and then I see Natty basically said the same thing. D'oh!

PhilippinesWhat kind of Car for the under 5' Filipina?
I'm 4'11" and I drive a 1993 Mustang. I wouldn't recommend it for an inexperienced driver (though I've only been driving for 3 1/2 years) but I do just fine. Having rented my fair shared of cars in the past 3 years, I can tell you that most modern cars are very easy to adjust for even really small people without the need for pillows or blocks on the pedals. I was really disappointed when I couldn't drive my dream car -- a 70s-era SL class Mercedes convertible -- because I couldn't reach the pedals. :( However, I think most of you will be looking for something more modern, so don't be too worried about exactly how big the car itself is, just how adjustable the seat is. :)

PhilippinesMarrying girlfriend who is in US and pending annulment
I was living in the UK and separated from my British ex. I started dating again and met someone else. He was fine with me not having commenced divorce proceedings. My ex was also okay. I got engaged before my divorce was complete. It's a common story on here. People's relationships end before the legal documents are signed. Get over it.

Though the Madonna addendum was a bit ace, I must admit.

We cannot discount the fact that there is always graft and corruption especially in third world countries like the Philippines. Just because some Filipinos want to leave the country to seek greener pastures doesn't mean they don't love the Pilipinas. They just want a better life, for themselves, and for their families.

PhilippinesI JUST GOT MY VISA
Apply ASAP for SSN so you can get a bank account or joint with huby and start your drivers license permit/application or else you will have to wait til you get EAD/AOS. If you wait til I-94 is expired then you have to wait til EAD or AOS to get your SSN. You can then reapply to change your name at SSA and they will need EAD or AOS and then your marriage certificate to change your name to married name.

Philippinestips and important things to prepare for my trip to US
Make copies of important documents (which you will take along to the US), but leave the copies at your home country. If you lose your passport for instance while traveling or lose it while in the US, you can easily get another passport with your "proof" of copy. Make sure you copy all pages like visa and stamps inside. This goes for all documents not just passport. Good luck and welcome to the US.

PhilippinesDocument Verification and Interview K1
QUOTE (craigr @ Sep 7 2008, 07:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,
Just a note to everyone about my experience regarding the Document Verification Process.
My fiance had her interview at the Embassy on Aug 27. At that time she was given Pink Slip and told 7-10 days before she receive K1 Visa. Yipee!!! So I am thinking okay she will be here in USA end of next week.

Wait a second... nope... that won't be the case.

After reading the Forum here and reading posts concerning the consistent problems with Delbros, NOS, USEM and the Document Verification process I thought I better call the Embassy in Manila and get the status of the Visa.
Sure enough I was told Document Verification had not been completed and it could be 3-6 weeks before Visa would be issued depending on whether or not they needed any further Documentation.
Sighhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Unbelievable.
Can't do anything but wait again...
Sort of just venting here but thought I would let all know that passing the interview isn't the end of the road.
Good Luck to all who are currently going through the process :-)

Yes thats basically the case, you just have to wait. As long as you got a pink slip, your visa will come. We had to reschedule our plane ticket when Hubby first scheduled my plane trip to US 2 weeks after my interview.. I ended up getting my visa 3 weeks and 4 days later, and my flight was 4 weeks after my interview. Good thing we had Eva-Air where no fee for rebooking as long as we left before May 2008. Visa verification can take 3 to 6 weeks, and that's what US Embassy in Manila always says, regardless of the case, its an assurance for them that you will get your visa by the 6th week... I know people wait longer if they are in AR. Just be glad that you passed your interview. Good luck.

PhilippinesMagkano na ba ang bilihin ngayon?
If the person does not work, how will he/she send money? If that is the case, give as much as he/she can. Again, I would start at Php10000 which is $225 and start working backwards, meaning lesser if I cant afford that. $225 may seem a lot but believe me, its not, even in the province. I could never live off $225 in the province especially to support 5 people. That is basically only P22 per person per meal or roughly $0.44 a meal.
Abby-RonFemalePhilippines2008-09-08 01:02:00
PhilippinesMagkano na ba ang bilihin ngayon?
I would allot $225 for the 5 people, dont be a cheapskate (kirpot) and dont add just the minimum to get by for the people you want to support/give. $225 at a rate of Php45 per $1 would give them (Php10125)which is plenty and then some to live off. You are a USC living 45 times the rate in the province of the Philippines, so dont be a cheapsake, share your wealth to your love ones back home.

PhilippinesBeneficiarys` change of address....
If you could avoid changing addres until K1 visa is approved then do so, otherwise you can jeopardize it and have delays on your visa approval since you would be contacting UCSIS for change of address (for petitioner only, not beneficiary). Depending on how far you are to your K1 also depends if there will be a delay. If your case is still waiting to be approved for petition (waiting for NOA2) then you definately should wait until you get that approved. Note, no documents will be sent to Beneficiary, only Petioner. So if you the beneficiary moves, you dont have to worry about any documents being sent, USCIS does not send documents over seas. They only send documents to the petitioner if you are waiting for NOA2.

If your case is already in US Embassy in Manila, then you will be waiting for packet 4 which is your interview schedule and medical exam dates. You dont need this actual document as long as you can print from the internet once your case is approved in NVC and that you have a MNL case in the US Embassy in Manila website. In the website, you can print the date of your interview and medical exam date. That is all you need to show to St. Lukes for your medical and of course your passport.

Philippinesquestions on DS 156..
1. Put N/A, thats what we put. Since you dont have your visa on hand, you cant speculate a date. Otherwords, its been "mayabang" saying you know you are 110% getting a visa (not that you won't)

2. Put N/A or Permanently, you are staying there as an Immigrant so this doesnt apply to you. Remember this form is also used for Tourist visas and Student visas so they would put a timeframe for how long they will stay in the US.

Good Luck.

Philippineswhat reasons are there for not needing Doc Verification?
USEM wants to make sure all the documents (birth certificates, CENOMAR, etc) issued from NSO are legit documents so its a necessary step for them to check. Its needed in ALL Cases if petioner was previously married and now is "single" or was born in the Pinas. These docs are checked and verified according to NSO docs.

Philippineslike to shared bad feelings
Your time will come when you will get to see Hubby again. Just look on the bright side, there are hundreds of hundreds of millions of people who get denied to going to the US or never even get a chance to apply to go to the US. You are one of the lucky ones to get to even apply for a visa to the US, with interview and all.. Your type of complain is like complaining that you cant have dinner cause your husband is not around, while there are millions of people starving in the world.. Yes, its sad you have to wait to see your husband.. But dont make it like its taking forever..

PhilippinesDid you buy your ticket before or after the interview?
I bought the ticket 2 weeks before the interview. I purchased it in Manila and the carrier is EvaAir, which stops in Taipei. EvaAir Does Not charge for flight changes but the travel agency does, and only after March 15, which is one and a half month after purchasing the ticket. Had I bought the ticket online, through their website, I wouldnt have any penalty for changing my flight date and can even get a FULL refund. I already changed my flight date from Feb 23 to Mar 7. Im hoping I wont have to change it again, as US Embassy says my visa is in printing as of last Friday, Feb 29. Hope I get my visa by Tuesday or else back to rescheduling..

PhilippinesLetter from embassy and UID number and shipping.

Hi a few of questions i have

Was wondering how long it takes to get letter from the embassy so i can get the interview scheduled? I think its been around 10 days now that they have had my packet. I called them and talked to someone there who told me to wait to go pay the interview fee until she has the letter.

Once the interview fee is paid for how will i go about getting my UID number? I viewed a recent receipt from someone i know, and the receipt did not have the UID number on it.
We are both getting anxious and it has been a long wait.

What are some good ways to ship the paperwork over to her? I called DHL and cost is about $150usd for aprox 10lb packet. Same with FedEx. There is an lbc office here but they said they don't ship documents, only the Balikbayan boxes. Anyone from Oregon that might have suggestion for me?

It takes about 2 weeks, it gets delivered to your home in the Philippines. Then you just pay at the bank that accepts payments for the US Embassy. You get the UID when you get the payment. As long as you have the receipt paid, you will be okay.

Since your in Oregon, that cost might be like that.. its not like in California where shipments to the Philippines are maybe three times a week.. so its less.. If you have a friend in California, mail it to them to mail it to Philippines. Mine cost me $75 I think at the time.

Philippinesrecent interviews for k-1

Hey everyone,

I am curious as to how recent K-1 applicants who had their visa's approved interviews went. Anything specific did the CO ask? I know most people have different things that the CO asks but I'm just looking for some experiences because me and my fiance are a little nervous about the interview. Don't know what they will ask or how they will judge us, so anything would be helpful. Thanks ^_^

Just tell the truth, and you'll be fine.. You really cant prepare for something that you should already know. They'll ask how you met, so answer it.. They will ask where your fiance works, lives, etc.. all basic information that you should already know. Remember the CO are just trying to prove that you two are really in love (and know each other well enough) and plan to get married in the US and not just so you can go to the US to get a visa...

Also, if you prepare your evidences neatly in a folder with tabs, most likely they wont even ask you anything regarding the evidences. I took my interview and basically just ask simple questions like where we met, and where my fiance works.. and then jumped to what I do for a living in the Philippines. After about 3 questions, I was so at ease, coz it felt like just making conversation..
