I was browsing forum posts the other day and saw someone post that a - this may sound ridiculous - a friend of his wife is a processor for VSC and that she assured him that VSC "just hired a lot of people." My irrationally optimistic thinking is that this fleet of new employees is currently being trained and pretty soon this new and incredible force of hungry adjudicators will be unleashed, making VSC the fastest K-1 processing plant the world has ever seen!!!

...granted, that is a lot of enthusiam just for some offhand quote I happened to come across, but I need to believe that this ridiculous slow down in Vermont is being addressed in some way and soon. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

Thanks, BL2B! It's so tough!!! I just contacted my local Congresswoman in hopes of getting some clarification. Being apart for an extended period is tough and straining enough; when you add USCIS's lack of transparency and their decision to not update their processing time information page since SEPTEMBER 08, I could go completely gray by the time we're adjudicated!!

But thanks for the well-wishes! It does go a long way to have all this support!

On the plus side of things, it seems that Vermont is stepping up their I-129F processing times. What do you all think is a reasonable expectation for us December filers? Is mid-March overly optimistic?

I'm barely a month into this process and I can't say enough how much better it feels to share the experience with this community. Yasser, I was wondering about that, too. But I think some filers qualify to have their visa petition expedited. For example, if delaying the visa will cost a person considerable income, or if there is a medical emergency, a filer can request his or her I-129f to be expedited. But I think it is rare to qualify for that.

Unfortunately, we can only ask for patience! :-/

On that note, I just chatted with my fiancé and our patience is wearing thin so I will be taking a trip to Bogota by March!! Woo hoo!! Hopefully the NOA2 will come shortly after that trip!!

When you check the status online, it will say "Last Updated." If that date changes, it means your file has been 'Touched.' It won't change the status of your file or give you anymore details, but some action has been taken.

12/4/2008 - Check Cashed
12/8/2008 - NOA-1 Recieved

Hmm - No touches so far. Got a little jealous when I saw how many other people got some action on their docs!

PurpleFrog, I think you and I have the most in common. My fiance is also in Bogota, and I filed through Vermont, too. We're in this thing together!! Good luck all and I look forward to being an active member of this forum!

I've noticed that some people have been getting their NOA1 pretty quick, especially in Vermont. They've received them as fast as in a week. I've sent my packet in July 8 and CSC received them on July 9, and up to now I havent receive anything or an update on my file. Is this in the timeframe for an NOA1? It seems so foreeeeever. :crying:

Yas, don't forget proofs of ongoing relationships. What I did was I photo copied the whole packet that I sent to USCIS and sent it to my fiance. Plus those items that you just listed. It may be an overkill but I want to make sure everything is covered. Hope it helps.

CSC was moving painfully slowly for over a month now and they approved hardly any February cases in the past 6 weeks. But I feel we will start seeing more and more approvals now. Last week three more new February cases got approved and that's a good sign. It is an indication that they started looking at new cases again. I feel there are many more approval letters already in flight to the rest of us.

Do not lose faith! You are not alone. Everyone feels like this is going to take forever, but everyone gets their letter in due time. Our NOAs are coming very soon, you'll see.



Yeah I hope so! Be great to see my everything here in October.

My fiance has the interview on the 22nd. Do you know how much is the K1 Visa fee that we have to pay to the bank before the interview... They say the forms that they sent us are old and the fees are changed/waived. I am not sure if that is true and the UAE Consular put me on hold for half an hour today at the end did not answer me.

After 2 months (seemed like a century) of A/p my fiance got his visa today and hopefully will get on a plane tonight and come home to me if he gets a ticket if not well we may have to dish out some money for business class...

It doesn't matter I am just happy.

Now the panic starts for POE

Does any body know the procedure for LAX are they easy? though?

That is not true. Many people stop their processes, and file for the same person years later, without any problems.



Exactly, we are stopping the process because we are going to be living in Mexico instead because of my fiances's business. Maybe years down the line we will move back to the states, but not in the next few years. My question is where do I stop the process? At the consulate in Juarez where the file is?

Thanks for your input. We are already starting the process for me to live there.
