K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS status website

I personally would not bother with the USCIS web site. It is a big waste of time. I enrolled to receive text and email notification when I first sent my package. The initial dates showed up, but have never changed. I already received my NOA2, but the case status never updates. It just came in the mail. I have seen many post that say the same thing.

This is so true. The website seems to be not updated for some reason. So I just wait for it to come in the mail rather than be anxious checking the website for an update and wait for an email or text.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 VISA is APPROVED.. HELL YEAHHHHHH

Well folks my fiance just got approved with the K1 tonight or today in Manila. Wow after all the headaches and long chatting and phone calls and documents she was actually approved really easy. Now we have to find out when the approved visa expires I guess typically 6 months. Is that about the right assumption?

Well anyway I can relax now knowing all the hard work is done now the challenge we face if she will like the states.

I want to thank this site for helping and guiding me with some of the paperwork needed to make the process smoothly.

Best of luck to all the future couples and hang in there. Its hard but it will be all worth it when you finally get approved.

Im going to drink now and get wasted lol.. j/k.

Thanks again.Attached File  AA7A06C7.jpg   43.07KB   41 downloads

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCSC Just Reported Processing Times for October

it shows how sadistic CSC is,its like in order to keep their timeline set for the five months, they start processing cases a couple of days before the hit five months.
while it does get the job done, its rather ... i dk,fill in the blank.
unfair?

I don't know why one would think it's unfair. They have an estimate of up to 5 months. Whether they do it on day one or the day before the 5 months are up, their projection is still accurate.

Well, this is definitely a taxing process on everyone involved.

To be honest, I like many was too confident about the whole process, thinking that it wouldn't take too long. I delayed applying for too long and now we are on a tight time limit.

I always pictured Tokyo to be a very straightforward consulate and assumed that the longest wait would have been in the post NOA2 period. Then I realized that it can take 5+ months just to get to the NOA2!

Additionally, due to the poor scheduling, I am faced with the possibility of having to do an asset only I-134 which is a great source of uncertainty since I do not want to involve a co-sponsor. I'm really hoping the NOA2 comes sooner than expected so I don't have to worry about the I-134!!!

What? He wants you to file it for him? I'm as lazy as any guy but wow that seems amazing even to me. :bonk:

It takes like 15 minutes if you use some form of tax software. Especially if you don't have any major assets, property, etc.

May have to say goodbye to the K1? Due to not being bothered to file taxes? I'm missing something here.

My situation is very close to yours. An only difference is that I was married before for 22 years. From what I learned -you can not have a co-sponsor for 134. You have to fill out the form on your own regardless of your income and have a letter explaining the situation, and another 134 form, bank info, taxes and employment verification let's say from your parents. It's like you are buying a car with cosigner.
Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTax Break: Get Married Dec 31???

They do, but they don't need to get the SSN before December 31. They just need to get the SSN before they file the tax return. My wife and I married on December 29, but we didn't go to the SSA office until January. We filed a joint return for 2009 without any problems.

Oh, I see the distinction now. Thanks for the clarification.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTax Break: Get Married Dec 31???

You only need the SSN when you file taxes. Don't need it to get married. I don't know where people get these strange ideas.

I think the assumption here was that they had to be married before Dec 31 in order to be able to file jointly for the current year.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember Filers!
Hello Guys, I am an August filer myself. My advise is for everyone who hasn't received an NOA1 is to be patient. I was a little worried myself because I filed for the K-1 petition on Aug 22rd. This was right after they increased the fees.

But I did received my NOA1 on October 3rd. Took over 40 days, but it did show up. Yea, when you worry, you think of all the scenarios that maybe your petitions got lost or stolen. Trust me, I was worried myself.

I was so worried and even called USCIS, but they assured me that I will get a letter/notice one way or the other and they told me they are delayed because of the load of applications.

Remember when you sent your petitions in, make sure you keep your delivery confirmations.

Also, remember its always best to pay with a personal check so that you can track if the check was cashed.

I actually checked my online banking everyday until one day my check was cashed. My online banking has image viewer that you can check what checks are being cleared. I was able to see my CASE# on the back of the canceled check

After that I went online and check the status of my case. I received my NOA1 three days after my check was cashed.

Just be patient..... Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember Filers!
Wow! You did quite a bit of research on this one with the time lines. In my opinion, no one really knows what goes on inside USCIS. I personally don't like the process and the system, but we do not have any choice or any other option. It has to be done this way. Everyone has to go through it.

I did call two weeks ago, USCIS CSC representative mentioned since the rate increased for petitions, a ton of applications were received prior to the increased fees. Therefore they are busy. (back logged)

For those 6 'time line entries' you mentioned.

You can send them a PM. Maybe they can shed some light about getting their NOA1.

I submitted mine on the 22nd of Aug. And USCIS just deposited my check yesterday (Oct 3rd). I still don't have a NOA1 yet , but I do have a case # from the image copy on the back of my check Wellsfargo scanned for online banking. smile.gif

Just be patient.

Also, who ever checks your application. They can be having a good day and just approve everyone. Or they can have a bad day and just deny the visa. Least thats how I feel about applying for a visa at the Manila, US Embassy in the Philippines. Its a 50/50 hit no miss kinda thing. Some people are just lucky.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Out of the 6 "anomolies," it's probable that the 3 whose sent date and their NOA1 date are a day apart are either confused or are in posession of damning photos of USCIS adjudicators in compromising situations. Also, tonya & darrin don't have a timeline which makes me wonder where their information is coming from.

roxy & lito may also be confused, and might be listing their "sent" date and their "received by USCIS" date. That leaves 2 entries that are possibly legitimate: Wilaiwan & James (sent 9/10, NOA1 10/1) and Angela & Jeff (sent 9/19, NOA1 9/29).

Anyone who's listed here care to clarify? I'm very skeptical that any September CSC filers have received NOA1 yet, but if someone really has then it would kinda blow the lid off the "we process them in the order they're received" story.

Thanks, BL2B! I was just thinking how quiet our group has been lately. Carolina and I are doing well! BTW - Have your ever heard of/read 'Infinite Jest?' I just thought of it because its plot is based on a future Quebec and it's really hysterical. I definitely recommend picking it up. WOW this is different, so I got the hard copy of the NOA2 yesterday, and the case has been forwarded directly to the Manila Embassy. Skipping the National visa center, has this happened to anyone else?? I called the embassy and they do not have record of the petition, I called the national visa center and they said because it states that it is going to the embassy they will not get a record of the petition. How will I track it? It doesn’t appear to be following the time line for the K-1 visa…

Also has anyone ever had to deal with an employer who does not fill out letters of employment and instead uses the theworknumber.com for verification of employment? I ask this because my current employer is in this boat. This adds another non linear expectation to this process. I spoke with the embassy (yay 18$ phone call) and the lady mentioned that I may write a letter and submit it with my I-134 and explain the situation. All my current employer will state is that I am an employee with them; I can give pay stubs which they can deduce my income from that potentially.

I am sweating bullets now, am I in a world of hurt, should I be panicking? Anyone have any insight?

Its appreciated

Thank you

Joshua

Joshua, have you checked out Skype recently? The dropped a sweet iPhone app and added half a dozen new countries for unlimited calling at 6 bucks a month. They just added Colombia and I'm saving beaucoup cash! It's worth taking a look.

And good luck with tracking your petition. I bet it'll go to NVC afterall.

I called NVC again last night to check if they had received our papers from VSC yet (NOA 2 on April 14th so one week & 2 days since approval). The answer was again NO so I called USCIS as well.

Their response was just ridiculous. The first customer service agent I spoke to said K1s don't go to NVC - they go directly to the embassy headbonk.gif so then I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor came on and told me that while he knows from experience that K1s do go to NVC, instructions on the USCIS system advise all of customer service agents that K1s go directly to embassy?!? wow.gif

I then ask if he can tell me where my petition is, has it left VSC and what is the delay in getting to NVC. The supervisor then says to please bear with him while he reads his notes. The line went quiet for a minute and he then said that he was going to transfer me to a higher level of support. I’m thinking great! Maybe this person will be able to tell me exactly where my petition is…… yes.gif

The next agent answers the line with his agent id and then goes quiet. So I ask whether or not he needs my receipt number. He replies ”You must ask me a direct question first- I can only answer direct questions.” helpsmilie.gif

Who is this guy??!! I feel like I was dropped into some sort of USCIS Area 51 or something…… So then I ask:

Do you know my receipt number: “Yes”
Has my application been sent to NVC? “your application has been approved”
Is my application in AP? “There is no such process called AP”
What is the physical location of my application right now? “Probably at VSC”

He then breaks from his Q&A format and tells me that it always takes 2-4 weeks and can be up to 90 days for the application to go from USCIS to NVC. I say that I have evidence that this is not always the case I have seen that more than just a few applications have taken as little as two days to transfer between VSC and NVC.

He replied that I don’t know what I am talking about and he is sure that this not true as this never happens and it always takes min 2-4 weeks. He then finished up by saying that if other people are saying that their applications were transferred quicker than the 2-4 weeks that those people are not telling the truth. blink.gif

ARGGHHHHH….did they outsource their customer service to aliens or what??!!!! wacko.gif wacko.gif

Wooowwwww.... that's RIDICULOUS!!!! If it weren't so personally affecting, I'd have to say that it's hilarious. It's like something out of an old Peter Sellers movie. But the truth is that it IS annoying and frustrating and ultimately its what is keeping you and your fiance apart for longer than necessary. I hope you get some clarification soon!

Too late to edit my previous post.....

I found this info on another thread which helped a great deal. Our notice said 14 April, but I had to put 13 April in to find it. Luckily there are so few filers from South Africa, it was quite easy for me to find ours.

Here is the tracking information that has been posted:
The State Dept uses DHL to ship their packages. Once you confirm the date that the I-129F was sent, you can go on the DHL website to approximately track your case. There are forums here talking about it but I'll sum it up below.

1. Go to: http://www.dhl.com/
2. Select track by Reference, enter the info as follows:
EXP DD MMM YYYYA
EXP is constant
DD is the day the NVC said they shipped the case.
MMM is the three letters representing the month the NVC shipped the case
YYYY is the year the NVC shipped the case
A is constant
For example, if the NVC says they shipped the case on February 5 2009, this would be entered as "EXP 05 FEB 2009A".
3. Date range for shipment - From: Enter the date of the day NVC said they sent the case
4. Date range for shipment - To: Enter todays date
5. Once you enter the info, press "Start Tracking"
6. You will see a result page with a number of packages going out to different consulates/embassies. Look for your consulate/Embassy.

Holy #######! This is awesome!! Thanks, BL2B!! Its amazing how much more transparent this whole process feels once it leaves USCIS.

Don't worry, guys! Don't let this past week at Vermont discourage you. The lower the ebb, the bigger the wave! You're time is coming!!
