Can't wait!!! 8 days til he gets here In February 2009 I was able to take a weekend trip to Tokyo for Valentine's weekend. I wish I could go there every year. (He was shocked, but then hugged me back.) I was dead set that we were going to get an RFE since I only sent in the form and fee at first. I did mail another packet of papers in early January, but got no confirmation it was ever matched up to my petition. It must have been though, because there is no way for an approval without an RFE if I were not matched up. I am beyond speechless right now about it! Go go CSC! More approvals, please! Share the wealth! That's awesome!!! Congratulations!!! It must be a super relief to have avoided the dreaded RFE!!! Everything from this point on will feel like you're on easy street! After contacting USCIS I have been recommended to contact them after 5th month has reached. I am checking VJ blog daily and checking my status in USCIS daily, therefore feel free to share how you all holding up. Is it useful to send tax returns to embassy during the interview? First of all, I agree that it's a cliche term and shouldn't really be used, especially in the current situation. However, as far as opportunity goes, the situation is understandably not very simple. While many countries are currently in (much) better shape than the US, a lot of the opportunities are restricted to long established citizens of the country. For example, in Germany, your future path is decided early on, what gymnasium (grammar school) you go, which secondary school you go, which path (apprenticeship,etc) you take. It's not practical for a foreigner to go in and decide to be a surgeon in their 20s for example. Similar strict structure in Japan. On the other hand, I have many many coworkers that came here from Vietnam (after the war) in their 20s and 30s. They completed engineering degrees and now hold positions that pay on average over $150k. I could never do that by going to Japan. My choices are either to teach English there or get hired by a US company. And in Japan there is less variation in pay between professions. There is honor in having an important job but the pay is secondary. Certainly no $100k+ jobs for recent (~10 year) immigrants. Unfortunately with this "the sky is the limit" mentality here, the downside is that for every $150k job there are numerous that are much lower in pay.	Yagisama	Male	Japan	2011-12-15 14:15:00
