This doesn't make sense to me. You were waiting for the appeal and you got married in the meantime and now you want to go back to using the K1 visa. Looks like you're looking at "bust" from your two options.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRecent Super fast NOA2s (in 30 days or less)

You have it all wrong.

First the idea would not work for people who have a difficult time to get a visa to come to the US. People in most countries cannot just come here and go to the USCIS office.

Second, USCIS doe not approve or issue VISAS, they approve petitions.

Yes, it wouldn't be fair to everyone but its not like this process is fair to everyone as it is now.

And I was just considering the 129F petition approval part.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRecent Super fast NOA2s (in 30 days or less)
If for 129F petition all you have to do is prove that you have met within the last two years and that you both are free to marry, I wish USCIS had a service where you went to their office and took your official picture together and signed a sworn affidavit that you are both free to marry.

No boarding passes, receipts, visa stamps, etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of relationship
Yeah each evidence by themselves is flimsy but taken as a collective they can at least give some assurance of a bona fide application.

I visited Japan 9 times in the last 3 years. I just happened to keep most of my boarding passes and receipts only because I stashed them into my Japan trip boxes and didn't think much of them until I realized they might come in handy for the K1.

What really really amazes me is the chat/phone longs though. I've read that some people print them out. I can picture the CO going over a few hundred pages. "I see on like 234 you have a 'nighty night pumpkin" and there is a "good night cupcake" so it passes the relationship test! Or worse yet you see a bunch of 'lol u 2" IM message.

Anyhow, what location is she in? I wouldn't count on any expedition. On the night of the quake I freaked out and asked for our case to be expedited and it was rejected the next day. We were almost at our 5 month mark at that time so it didn't really matter for us though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of employment
Personally, in my opinion, a third party verifiable report is much more relevant than a letter stating "Bob currently is an active employee at ABC company with income XX,XXX. - Signed John"

Many companies including mine utilize the work number. The report ends up being generated on company letterhead and is authorized and approved via electronic signature.

When I follow my work's "Immigration Verification" this is what I get. This along with the pay stubs and tax transcripts should do the trick. It might not be needed but I'm taking it with me just the same. It takes less than a minute to generate the report.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE's
When it comes to an RFE, one blessing in disguise is that you can use the opportunity to send more evidence that you have accumulated since sending in the petition, which will help your case in the interview stage.

An RFE seems to add a setback of 2 -4 weeks, so its not a really major issue provided that you can address it adequately.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuick question regarding updating one's address!
Not a dumb question at all, since it's best to be diligent about this entire process.

Your timeline isn't up to date, so I don't know what step in the process you are, but I would imagine you'd want to update your address to make sure that you get all correspondence.

You can think of it as just the mailing address if it helps but I don't think it will matter. Maybe someone else will have a more concrete answer.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 (Use Original Copies?)

Thanks for the welcomes and tips. Although we may be a ways off from the NOA2 (our NOA1 was 8/30 and we're at CSC) I want to be on top of things so I know exactly what to expect once it arrives :)

Keeping my fingers crossed. Is it just me, or is waiting for the NOA2 the worst part overall? The variance on time is insane (for JP and CSC, the numbers are just nuts - some are done in 80 days, some 6 months? ugh!) Could be tonight, could be end of January. Really grateful I'll be going to visit her next month, and that we're on our way to getting through this thing :)

It's not just you. That part of the process was the worst. Once the NOA2 was done, I made the interview appointment myself and flew to Tokyo for the interview a couple weeks later.

My income is well over the poverty guidelines, but I'm operating on this idea that providing multiple levels of support evidence is good - ie Savings, employer letter / paystubs, tax return documents, promise to purchase a bond, etc. You know how this thing can be - don't want to leave any gaps that could give them any reason to extend or delay the process. What exactly did you provide with your I-134?

I think there comes a point of diminishing returns and I definitely crossed it myself at times. Even though we got ticket #1 in the Tokyo Embassy during the interview, we waited longer than many others who had higher numbers. My guess is because I had included way too much #######. I had included paystubs for 1 year (2 each month), 3 tax transcripts, employer letter. I had even included savings statements for one year.

All it came down to was the interviewer asking me how long I had been with my present employer.

For the I-864 I kept it simple and just included income info and left out the savings.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 (Use Original Copies?)

Quick question for the group - We are about 30 days post NOA1. Is it too early for me to prepare and send the 1-134 doc / supporting evidence to my fiance? I'd like to get this done... and it gives me something to work on! Just wondering if anyone has had any issues with the paystubs, bank statements being from a couple months prior to the NOA2.

Thanks for any insight you might have!

I think its better for those documents to have dates close to the interview date. I included paystubs, etc with a date of one week before the interview. So I'd suggest to at least wait until the NOA2.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 (Use Original Copies?)
Copies are fine, even for the employer letter.

Heck, my company has an automated immigration process that utilizes the work number. The report is generated on company letterhead and is authorized and approved via electronic signature.

I just included a copy of that for the I-134 and now for the I-864EZ.

I concur with the others. Don't include email, IM, etc. It's completely meaningless and doesn't add anything to the application.

I was at the Tokyo US Embassy during the interview and they didn't even look at half the pictures/documents.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Interview - What Evidence to Bring?
I attended the K1 interview with my fiancee in the US Embassy in Tokyo.

This list contains what she needs to bring:

http://japan2.usemba...kchecklist.html

I had front loaded our 129F with copies of visa stamps (me visiting Japan and she visiting the US), copies of boarding passes, copies of hotel receipts, and lots of pictures throughout the previous 3 years. I took copies of all that to the interview. The interviewer didn't ask for any of it.

Personally I never considered letters, email, phone bills, etc to be very useful. That goes triple for chat logs. So I never included any of that.

Obviously, birth certificate, police certificate, etc, you're going to need originals. The rest of the stuff we just used copies.

Japan is an extremely low fraud country so the interview should be very simple and fast. The interviewer even called me up to the window and just asked me where I worked and for how long. A couple minutes later he said congratulations and we were on our way to get breakfast. It was easier than any trip I had to the California DMV.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa - Missed the two year deadline by 5 days?
The K-1 visa has only two requirements:

1. The couple has met sometime in the last two years.
2. Both individuals are legally free to get married.

That's it. I understand that the issue here may be only 5 days, but that still violates the first requirement.

I would wager that this would cause the petition to be denied, and require the filing of a new petition.

Hello everyone,

My fiancee owes 200k on her Credit Card and hasn't paid in 6 months. Will this affect our fiance visa?

A little thing like whether it's USD or other currency really can change a sentence. Not that it has any impact on this thread, but a couple more keystrokes to give relevant information really goes a long way.

I just bought airfare for my New Year trip to Tokyo so I got over the equivalent of 200K pesos on my card just this month alone. I wouldn't sweat it at all.
