Yes same thing. I would call now if you have already received your NOA2 hard copy. Mine was received at the NVC the same day I got the I-797 in the mail.

Do not wait on the consulate, they should send packet 3 to your fiancé or you depending on the consulate. Right now your 129f petition should be on its way to the NVC who will then send it to the appropriate consulate. You can call the NVC to get your case number once they receive, and you can also call them to check to see if they have forwarded it to the consulate. YOU should mail your fiancé the affadavit of support along with a copy of your original 129f package. Do that ASAP as mail usually takes a bit longer. You and your fiancé can practice using the forms that will be given in packet 3 if you want to get a head start, otherwise sent off the paperwork you have and the I-34 and the NVC and consulate will take care of getting your paperwork ready that will be needed before the interview. good luck! How does the embassy inform you about medical examination?

Who schedule the Medical Examination? Does the embassy schedule for you and you just show up or do they give you a contact number and you schedule it yourself?

as long you know the interview date you can go to take the medical examination any time. you will schedule yourself.

?it is valid for 6 months

That's what I'm leaning towards of doing. It would a best idea. How will you send to your fiancee? Last time I sent paper to Cambodia, I sent via USPS and I had no problem. It was relatively cheap comparing to other mail carriers.

i never sent any paper to Cambodia. i will sent the same way via USPS

i might have my wires crossed, but i was told to wait till your at the NVC stage before getting the Police certificate as they are only valid for 6 months.

Hi, I also got my confirmation email saying it was received the on 30th april, and my certificate arrived this morning! I was also expecting a delay, so hopefully yours will arrive very soon.

Just a little advice about obtaining your police certificates!!

It is a lengthy process....so fill out your forms and send them off as soon as you get your text from the USCIS that your NOA2 has been approved, if not before because its coming up to a month and i still have not got them back.

Here is my journey to obtain one!!

18 April - Received NOA2 acceptance

19 April - I downloaded the forms and filled them out

20 April - Went to get passport photographs done

26 April - I received my Photograph Endorsement form and photograph back

27 April - Sent package off to ACRO Portsmouth

30 April - ACRO received my package

13 May - Received email saying "It will now be dealt with in accordance with the published guidelines"

So i guess they still have to do their checks and admin stuff and then send me it in the usual snail mail here in the UK, so another 5 days and it will be exactly one month till i finally get my police certificate, that's if it gets here in the 5 days!! I sent an email this morning asking what the turn a round time would be but still waiting for a reply!!

I paid £45 fee for the standard service, which they state is 10 working day turnaround, not including dates of receipt or dispatch, but that's 2 weeks once they receive it, in my case i had to wait nearly 2 weeks before they even looked at it! with getting photo endorsed, sending and receiving it wont be short of a month. This is the only document i need before phoning for my medical and sending off the forms needed by the London Embassy!!

So my suggestion to everybody is you want the certificate sooner is pay the £80 for premier service and a 2 day turn around but that's only when they start processing it not for the whole process and i guess it also depends if you have a criminal record or not!!, which i dont

I will updateand let everyone know when i actually get the certificate in my hands!!

You did it exactly as London prefers.
Get your forms in immediately.
Gather your interview documents and have the medical.
Send the DS-2001 to let them know you are ready to interview because you have all documents in hand.

I'm so glad to know i've done it correctly, thank you.

Also, as a stroke of luck, my police certificate arrived this morning just after I posted here!!

I was beginning to worry about delays, but I got mine today after being received on the 30th april.

I went ahead and booked my medical, and was surprised to get an appointment so quickly for next thursday!

It's so refreshing for everything to now be moving ahead after such long delays for the noa2.

I'm in the same position regarding the police certificate. I got an email 10 days after sending saying the same thing...that it will now be processed.

In the meantime I sent off all the forms except the ds2001, with a cover note saying I will send in the ds2001 once i am in receipt of the police certificate and my fiancee's documents.

I wrestled with holding off on sending the forms until i could sent everything, but after reading the official instructions about a hundred times, it does state to send stage one in asap, then stage two as soon as the documents are in hand.

I did a lot of forum searching, and found a few post whereby others have also done it this way.

Hi everyone!

We just got our K-1 approved (Yeah!) and are waiting for the visa to be mailed?

I tried to figure out if / when I'll be able to start working in the US, but there seems to be some confusion about this. Here's what I understand now:

Once I've entered the US on a K-1 visa?

It's not legal for me to work unless I have an SSN and either an EAD or a green card.
I can apply for an SSN immediately.
The best way to apply for an EAD is together with the AOS application after we got married. That way it's free of charge (included in the AOS filing fee) and valid for up to 2 years.

DS160 for canadian applicants

I listed all of the dates/length of each trip to the US including a plane transfer on my trip to Australia. I just wanted to make sure nothing could be used against me.

I answered the "how long do you intend to stay in the US?" by saying "Permanently". My visa was approved on friday so I'm assuming they didn't have any issues with that. After all, you are planning to move there and get married right?

Social security/disability as co-sponsor's income?

We used multiple co-sponsors. His Mom and Dad (they are divorced) and my fiance. My fiance is below the poverty limit but they accepted his affidavit of support without question. However, I'm not really sure they actually looked at it (or any of them for that fact). His Mom and Dad both have above the poverty guidelines though.

I wouldn't rely on my experience though because I really felt they didn't look too carefully at my paperwork. :unsure:

I booked at the start of Sept. My interview was on Oct 7th. They told me 6-8 weeks. A girl I met at the medical booked her appt. after me and she had her interview the same day as I did. So... it really depends. If you e-mail them they are great at emailing you back within 2 business days

I got my packet 3 in June and had my interview in October. I took a long time because I had to get 3 vaccinations (damn you chicken pox!)

You bring this on yourself with the answer to question 1. My advice is to answer with a generic truthful answer. If it's a short visit, say two weeks, simply say "a two week holiday" or something more specific like "going to Disney...etc." if true. For longer visits of more than a month, "visiting family and friends". Saying you're visiting a fiance or spouse raises the red flag of potential immigrant intent. No need to raise that flag.

I'm not really good at being "selectively honest". I just tell the truth and despite being a bit uncomfortable, I don't have any problems. Do I agree that I bring it on myself a bit? sure. But if I tried to skirt the truth I'd turn into a blabbering idiot and they'd probably deny my entry to the US :blush:

Once I got engaged I had to suffer through an interrogation every time I went to visit him. I always brought paperwork that showed I had ties to Canada (letter from work, lease, bank statement, return ticket). You may get asked more questions and get a bit of heat, but generally as long as you can prove you won't be staying they will let you go visit.

It always went something like this:

Why are you going to the US? > to see my fiance
When did you get engaged? > (date)
Do you have a ring? > yes
Who is paying for your trip? > I am
Who is paying for your expenses when you're there? > both of us
Who paid for your ticket? > I did
Where do you work? > (job)
Do you have a return ticket? > yes

And then I'd offer them my left arm and it was fine :blush:

Post K-1 visa marriage ... what happens if ...

So to answer your question... No, your fiance can't leave the US to finish his job. Once you are married he needs to stay there and file for Adjustment of Status. You can file for Advanced Parole and Employment Authorization Document at the same time for free. It takes about 3 months to get AP and EAD approved. If your fiance leaves the US before he is granted AP he would not be allowed back in under the K1 visa because it is "single-entry only".

If your fiance has his interview on Nov. 9th there is no way he could stay in Canada until June to finish teaching since he has to travel to the US within 6 months from the day the visa is issued. That would give him until May 9th.

Advanced Parole - your fiance will need this to travel outside of the US after you are married. You file for it at the same time you file for AOS. If your fiance leaves the US WITHOUT having AP, he will forfeit the visa.
