What should the applicant expect at the medical examination?
The applicant must show his/her passport (or other photo identification) and appointment letter to the doctor during the medical examination.

The medical examination will include a medical history review, physical examination, chest X-ray and blood tests for syphilis.

The physical examination will at least include examination of the eyes, ears, nose and throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration service providers

Last May 2010 I came here on a tourist visa to attend my fiance's graduation and army commissioning. We also took the time to have a consultation with an immigration lawyer that we found online. At that time I had never heard of VJ. So we went, talked to her for about an hour, and she basically told us afterwards that we didn't need her help and we could do it ourselves. She gave us free advice and was so nice! We really got lucky. We felt so good afterwards that we spent the next three days gathering and filing everything and then we mailed it, and I went home the next week. It was only once I had the NOA2 that I discovered VJ and this site really helped me a lot to prepare for the k1 interview, and now my AOS process. :) Bottom line is that even the lawyer herself said we didn't need one!

Anyone used the immigration service providers? The ones who promise to do the paperwork for you? Just curious if anyone has and what the experiences are. Also, which is the best.

You will need a police report from Nigeria even though you are in Malaysia now. You can get the assistance of a relative back home to get the police report done for you. I got the application form, got my fingerprint attested here and sent the completed form to Nigeria, with a photocopy of my passport and passport photographs. A family member submitted the app for me and got the police cert sent to me.

Hi all! My fiance obtained a police cert on October 2010 (8 months ago) and we are now awaiting Packet 3 from the US embassy in Dublin for our K1 visa. My question is: Does he have to obtain a new police cert or is last year's acceptable? :innocent:

Irish police certs dont carry an expiry date but he can just get a new one to be on the safe side, after all its free!

Since you are on internal review, your USCIS approval expiration date doesnt matter any more, so dont worry about it. I guess they just have some checks they want to run, hopefully you'll be done even before August. In faith I am saying Congratulations in advance!

If they are unmarried and under 21, then YES they should be listed even if they are not travelling with her now. There is a provision on the form to indicate whether they will be accompanying/following her or not. If they are not listed now, it will pose problems down the line when you are eventually trying to bring them over.

It's worth the wait to have the peace of mind that you:

a) did things legally.
b) did things the right way so your fiancee will not face deportation for doing something the wrong way.

We waited an entire year and then some for me to move to the US so we could get married, but I sleep soundly knowing that we haven't made any mistakes that could risk our future together.

And yes, I realize you intend to do the right thing. Just don't go chasing some easy way out because it might bite you in the butt later.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow do i make this sound good?
A lot of people here are raising good points. You aren't considering the expenses associated with taking care of a) yourself b) your wife c) your baby. That's what you should be most concerned about at this point.

I'd make a plan to show your Grandfather how you plan to support yourself, wife, and baby once they get here. I wouldn't sign up to support 3 people unless they had a plan.

Just a little more patience and you wont need an immigration lawyer. I believe lwayers are really useful for those with legal issues(overstaying a previous visit, criminal record etc...) Anything outside that, hiring a lawayer in my opinion is a waste of money since you will still have to do a lot of things yourself.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPicked Agent, now what??

We received word from the NVC in early January that they registered my husband as my agent and they also send us the invoice for the $404 IV Immigrant Visa processing fee, which we paid immediately (status online confirms that it is Paid). That has been almost a month ago and we haven't received any information on how to proceed from here. I just send an email to the NVC about it. Can somebody tell me what's next or why they leave you without further instructions?
If I'm not completely mistaken the next step is them sending me a list of documents I'll need for my interview (I've been preparing those already). Is that correct or am I missing something here?

Log in to the online payment facility and print out your Cover Letters for both AOS and IV. GAther your docs and send with the forms:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAPPROVED!!! Now what

Also another very quick question? What is DS3032 form? Is it mandatory?
What if I don't appoint anyone as my agent, which I can from the form, but then the very next question doesn't apply to me!! I am already a US citizen.
What is IV Bill IV packet?
Does these have to be done and paid before NVC is complete? And does NVC process has to be complete before being able to send the required documents listed above to US Embassy abroad (in this case Turkey) for scheduling an interview date?

Thank you for your comments and answers.

Yes DS3032 is mandatory. It is meant to be filled by your wife-the beneficiary, not you-the petitioner. She can then appoint YOU as her agent.
This has to be done before the NVC stage can progress.
NVC stage must be complete before case progresses to the embassy stage.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdublim embassy interview questions

So since I already paid it, there is no fee on the day? That's all I want to know. I'm not sure why this has to be so confusing.

I'm not frustrated with you... sorry, I just don't know why they would email me back saying $404 since I already payed it.

and they stated different envelope sizes to the one that the above person stated and amount of stamps...

Why can't they just state all this in the email?!

You are lucky you even got a response. I sent a similar email before my interview and didnt get a response back!

I got the envelope size from their website: http://dublin.usemba...html#question28

They may have realised that the exact dimension is not available in ireland and changed their requirement but as at this morning the website is not updated. As per envelope size I saw VARYING sizes from people on my interview date and it didnt seem to be a problem as long as its big.

Again, fee is already paid at NVC, print your IV fee receipt and bring along to the interview in case you are still in doubt.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdublim embassy interview questions
--The size specified on the embassy website is a standard US size not available in Ireland. You should be fine with a size that close enough to that. I got one in Easons

Will I receive my immigrant visa on the day of the interview? No, on the day of the visa interview you will be required to submit an envelope for each applicant, measuring approximately 34cms x 56cms (14” x 18”) with postage stamps to the value of €8.00 affixed to each envelope. Your visa and supporting documents will be mailed to you once visa processing has been completed, normally within 2–3 days of your interview.

--You don't have to pay at the interview for IR1/CR1. Your IV fee paid at the NVC covers that.

--They didnt collect any additional document(I brought tons of supporting documentation which wasnt asked for or looked at).

--They did not return the submitted docs on the day of the interview, mine came with the visa in the big envelope I submitted.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about spouse and children

I recently filled an I-130 petition for my wife and 7 year old stepson. 2 separate I-130 $420.00 EA. 2 G-325a and have the mother print his name and write (Mother) next to his name, that’s all. Good luck!

2 separate I-130 petitons, correct. G325a is not needed for a child. Just one each for you and your spouse.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI130 update to beneficiary status
Check which situation applies to you and take action accordingly:

What if I filed a petition for a relative when I was a
permanent resident, but I am now a U.S. citizen?

If you become a U.S. citizen while your relative is waiting for a visa, you can upgrade your relative’s visa classification and advance the processing of that petition by notifying the appropriate agency of your naturalization. When you are a U.S. citizen, your spouse and any unmarried children under age 21 will have visas immediately available to them.
If you become a U.S. citizen after your Form I-130 petition
is already approved and it has been forwarded to the U.S.
Department of State’s National Visa Center (NVC), you should
notify the NVC that you have become a U.S. citizen.
Requests
to upgrade petitions due to the naturalization of the petitioner
should be sent to:
National Visa Center
32 Rochester Avenue
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909
Please include a letter with information regarding your relative, a
copy of your Naturalization Certificate, and a copy of the petition
approval notice. Once the NVC is notified that the petitioner
has been naturalized, the NVC will immediately send the visa
information on your relative to the designated U.S. Embassy or consulate abroad. To confirm that your approved petition has been forwarded to the NVC, you can contact the NVC’s automated record message system at 1-603-334-0700 and, with a touchtone telephone, enter your USCIS receipt number.
If you become a U.S. citizen and your relative’s petition has not
yet been approved by USCIS, you will need to notify the Service Center where you filed your relative’s visa petition.
You should send the notification to the Service Center address located on the receipt notice you received when you filed your Form I-130 petition. Please include a letter with information regarding your relative a copy of your Naturalization Certificate, and a copy of the petition receipt notice. Call Customer Service at 1-800-3755283 for additional assistance or if you are unsure about the status or location of your petition.
• If your relative is your spouse and he or she has children who are
your natural children, stepchildren, or adopted children, and you did not file separate petitions for them, you must file a separate petition for each of them with evidence of your U.S. citizenship. Please include a copy of the receipt notice for the original petition.
