Waybill needed? Where??

Thank you, but I've already seen that. What I'm worried about is that the lady at the Vancouver Consulate said in order to get it sent to my address, I had to send them an e-mail with the waybill by the end of today (the 13th) but there is still no waybill. DHL has no use for the reference number. So I'm not really sure what to do. I really don't want my passport going to a pick up location 4hrs away (sadly, that was the closest option, blah).

Impossible - you don't get the waybill number until AFTER the visa has been put in your passport. I had similar *confusing* instructions from the Vancouver consulate, but since I wasn't in a rush it didn't matter. Took me almost 3 weeks to get my passport. I think it took about 5 days for a waybill to show up online, then I got lazy, and then it took about 4 days to get it once I emailed DHL.

It needs to be the original so you will have to mail him the signed forms.

You mail your application to the address found on the I-134 application instructions. All applications go to the Texas address, are sorted, and then sent out to either VSC or CSC.

DS-160 question and 1-134 question

2) For the 1-134 what are the exact supporting documents that they are looking for. I have read that you need bank letters but have also read that you don't. Which is correct. Also,how many years do you need to go back for w2's and tax forms? Finally, on the 1-134 itself if you have stocks, do you need to list of individual purchase prices or just the total number of shares and their market value?

We had 3 years of tax returns, a letter from his employer stating his wage + gross income this year so far + "no changes to employment in the foreseeable future" statement, and recent pay stubs.

I don't believe you need any "proof" of stocks. It asks you for assets on the I-134 form where you list houses/stocks/cars etc. but we were never asked for any proof of the value of those items. They didn't ask anything about the Affidavit at my interview so I assumed it was all in order.

I made a guide but I guess it's useless. Anyway, here's what I wrote about DHL/Vancouver consulate:

The second biggest pain in the butt other than waiting for your NOA2. The staff at the Vancouver Consulate give extremely confusing and inaccurate instructions about how to get your Waybill. The waybill doesn’t show up until your passport has been processed and the Visa has been put in. If you left your e-mail DHL should send you updates/tracking numbers but they weren’t always accurate. Just keep logging into the http://canada.usvisa-info.com website until your waybill shows up.

The people at the consulate tell you it's going to be a couple of days. They lie. Its at least 2 weeks if not more. If your waybill shows up when you log on that site then your visa should be ready to be picked up.

I just saw in another post that you need to have your interview booked before you book your medical for a CR1 visa. I guess if you took the ferry over and spent a day here then got your flight to Montreal it would work pretty well for you!

Yes, Woking Medical is super easy. *However*, they only do their exams on Wednesday at 6:30 AM. You can pick your results up after 1pm on the same day. It's convenient if you don't want to wait for the results. They booked me the day I requested (I think I booked 2 weeks in advance).

Ah, okay, that makes sense. So, for all intents and purposes, can we treat the OP's case like a CR1?

As far as I understand that's how it works. They had the K3 visa back when it took CR1's about 2 years to process. Now that CR1's and K1's have similar time frames there really isn't much use for them. I've never heard that you file the I-130 and I-129F at the same time though (but never researched it). :innocent:

OP: FYI the medical at Woking costs $350 or $300 if you are pregnant. I believe the medical in Toronto/Montreal are much cheaper but not totally sure how much it is. If you're there anyway it may be cheaper to do it the day before your interview (since if you live on the island you would have to travel to Vancouver anyway).

I think they just convert K3's to CR1's after a certain point because the processing time is pretty much the same now.

You will need the Affidavit of Support at your interview, so have him fill it out and send you the evidence ASAP.

If you applied for the CR1 you have to go to Montreal because Vancouver only processes K1. You can get your medical done at Woking Medical though, which is on Burrard (Downtown Vancouver).

Venting

Gosh do I know what you mean. I spent my early 20's going through absolute hell because I was in constant pain (they still don't know why). I've endured a "chemical menopause" for a year. They tell me I'm going to be fine getting pregnant but I am so terrified that I'll move to the states and not have proper health care and end up needing invitro or something because I won't be able to get pregnant. Absolutely terrified. I know I'm still decently young -- and you are too!! -- but man do I ever know what you mean about the clock going off. I can't freaking wait but my mind tells me how irresponsible it would be to get pregnant before we're financially stable, not to mention we need to have a year or so of actual *time* together.

Talk about yikes! Just focus on getting there. Focus on eating healthy and exercising. Once you get there try not to stress out too much and I'm sure it'll happen!

No, you can't pick up your Visa from the Vancouver consulate. You can have it delivered to a DHL office. I believe there are only ones in Richmond and Burnaby. However, if you aren't in a huge rush, you can have them deliver it to you for about 15$ I think. I can give you more detailed instructions if you'd like but it's late and I'm sleepy.

Oh and as for changing your address... If it's before you get your NOA2 you would have to update your address with USCIS (I think). If it's after you've received your letter from the Vancouver consulate you can just email them the new address and they will change it for you. I moved while I was doing packet 3 and had no issues. Just make sure you notify the right people.

If your parents live nearby then sure, why not. It's probably safer to wait for your NOA2 before you move just in case (god forbid) it doesn't go through as planned. *I'm sure everything will be fine!*

I tossed the idea of moving home around but I'm glad I didn't. My parents live about an 8 hour drive away from here and everything you need to get done is in Vancouver so it was much easier for me to be here rather than at home. I also didn't want to quit my job because I still needed to save money for my move.

That said, if my parents lived here I would have moved home in a heartbeat!

Proof of meeting ? we only have pictures

Photos, Cards, Letters, Receipts (movies, dinners, presents). If they have letters or emails talking about specific events they did together then photocopy those (you can blank out intimate stuff). Cell phone bills (showing roaming charges). Visa statements showing purchases in Canada/US for both...

You could write and sign a letter stating that he stays with you at your house when he visits.

Thinking ahead of time

Start getting vaccinated now! I had a big delay because I had to get 2 live virus vaccinations so it took 3 months to get me fully vaccinated.

You need the following vaccines:

Full series MMR (2 shots)
Full series Varicella (2 shots) *unless you've had chicken pox, then you are already immune*
TDap - this can be done at a travel clinic
Flu Shot - only between Oct-Feb

Most of these are free with the exception of TDap. If you've had a TDap shot within the last 10 years you don't need another one. Usually the last one you get is in grade 9 or so.

Just a note - make sure you find out all the vaccinations you need before hand and discuss the fastest way to get all the shots done with the nurse because there's a 30 day waiting period between 1 live virus shot and the next live virus shot.

Just checked my case status and it says appointment notice for fingerprints has been mailed...so i have been reading about people doing walk-in for fingerprints...how does this work?don't they send you back if the date is different at the appointment notice...do i tell them i am doing a walk-in.How do i go about it and most importantly....does doing an early walk in fingerprints mean that my paperwork will be moving along faster for the interview?Thanks.

I did a walk-in for my ROC, I'm thinking this one shouldn't be all that different. I think how it goes depends on the particular office. Some are strict about the appointment date, some not so much. The officer at the front desk did check the appointment date on my letter and pointed out its still in the future, then I explained to him that I am avoiding having to take a day off work to get my fingerprints done and I already had that day off so I wanted to "try my luck". He said its all up to his supervisor and asked me to wait at the side. Luckily the supervisor let me.

It didn't seem that things moved along faster for me having the bio done early...I dont know whether its been different for other people

I have started to gather documents for our July filing (3yr/US spouse) and I was wondering if anyone could help me with something. Part 8 of Form N-400 requests that we list all of the time spent outside the US for the last 5 years. We filed for a consular visa so before the 3 year period of our marriage my husband still lived outside the country.

Does that mean we list all time spent just for the last 3 years?

Yes, in your case, it will be travel outside in the past 3 years. Same as me, I was still in Ireland 5 years ago . So I listed my only trip outside the US in the past 3 years since I became a US resident.

so did you all attach the G-1145 form along with the n400 for e notification?I didnt do it.Didnt even realise there was an option for that.Its been8 days since USCIS received my package( USPS tracking)but my check is not cleared yet...getting a lil worried if everything is ok with my paperwork.Will let ya'll know if the check clears tomorrow.

G1145 is optional. I did it send it with mine though, just for tracking. You can initiate updates online once you receive the receipt number. Fingers crossed, your check will be cashed soon if everything is ok.

Do I have to send those since they don't live with me but my wife have a job too, but I send money a month?

Question guys....for my supporting docs I sent: birth certs of our 2 kids, hubby's naturalization cert, marriage cert (we were married before I got my greencard), copy of greencard (front & back), 2 color passport pics and check. Based on the list of items http://www.uscis.gov...attachments.pdf in #4a (Documents referring to you and your spouse) I believe my kids birth certs. would have been enough and the other items were "optional" as long as something from that line (#4a) was included. Just want to make sure I didn't miss anything :/

I'd say something to show financial co-mingling too wont be amiss. Since you already sent your application you may want to bring the other things to your interview: Joint Tax Returns/Join Bank Account Statements
