Middle East and North Africasorry this might sound dumb
Are they not eligible for "follow to join", or is that only for spouses?

It's a good question you ask Kelly...and not dumb in the slightest...I am curious myself, as I would LOVE for my in-laws to be here !

I am 90% Buddhist with a sprinkling of Hinduism, in there for balance.

Odd mix, but it works for me !

Middle East and North AfricaA little ticked
Yep...I agree with you both.

Judging a book by it's "cover" is what we Americans are infamous for...

Far as I am concerned, who one chooses to worship should be their own thing, a personal thing if you will, and not have ANY role in how anyone is viewed or perceived.
It's a shame that we are judged by such...

For the record, I was raised as a Catholic, converted formerly to Judiasm when I married my 2nd husband-then, later in life I became a Buddhist, and also embrace Hinduism...they all seem to work for me.
In hindsight-with knowing what I know about each form of belief system-they are all not so different with the exception of specific and small nuances between them.

Now, as such-imagine each connotation and prejudice that each one of those religeons conveys...I found that during each period of my life, I was viewed and treated differently from those who knew my beliefs.

I have learned by experience, to tell very few people whom I pray to anymore, as I don't want or need judgement in my life at this stage.

Finally though, at the end of the day-we are ALL human beings.

Middle East and North AfricaWhen you marry or married your SO...
I took Brucie's last name b/c it was WAY shorter than mine. My previous had 16 letters. a hyphen and half of it was my ex-husband's. I kept b/c of my son after we split.
It never fit on my driver's license, business license, credit cards or my SS card. He was cool either way-and I am glad I adopted it.

Much happier with my nice, simple 5 letter one.
MrsBruce5FemaleScotland2006-07-31 22:40:00
Middle East and North AfricaHow do you find your strength?
First off, there is nothing wrong with loving someone-therfore, you aren't a dork.

I waited for 2 years. First, for my ex husband to sign the divorce papers, and then for all of our CR1 papers to go through. I had my days where I thought I would fall to pieces, but somehow, I carried on. Yes, I did pray for strength, and I prayed for patience.
I also found that I worked and worked and worked. Sometimes 7 days a week if I could. I saved up some money, and passed away the time.
Keeping busy and not focusing on how much I wished my life was differerent helped. And when I began to get down on myself, and the situation, I would make plans for the future in my head.
Some of these plans have been done, some still are yet to be done when he comes home next week.

Looking toward the future helps greatly. Do not lose your hope, and keep in your pocket that this is only temporary. One day it will indeed be over.

Best Wishes.

Middle East and North AfricaSeasonal Muslims? Who are you kinding?
Henia,

I read your post, and I am not a religeous woman, however I do consider myself a spiritual one.

I looked and looked for a faith that I felt I could relate to. On my quest, I found things about each belief system that I fell in love with and hold onto. I cannot sit here and say I have been able to surrender to just one, as they ALL are quite similar and I embrace all of them with an open heart and mind. Although I do feel drawn mostly to the teachings of Buddha. I have Lord Ganesh on my desk, a cross in my bedroom and a hamsa in my doorway.

Many people have questioned me, asking me how this is possible to embrace all. I never knew quite how to answer them-but you made a very good statement and have made the answer quite simple.

It is in the "roots". When you say, "return to roots"-it is a beautiful statement, as the roots of all spirituality encompass Peace, Love and Tolerance. Whether it is Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, or Shintoism-when it is practiced in it's true form, "roots"-as you say-the common factor between belief systems is not all that different.

I liked your post.

Peace be upon us all.

Sorry to hear of the delay, Meriem.

The days move will fast for you if you fill them with things you love. Keep close to your friends and family, and keep busy. Time does have a way of passing faster if you make the most of it.

Again, I am sorry to hear of it.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHELP - Major mistakes with check!!
Update with my situation:

I called the 1 800 number today and spoke with an immigration officer who told me that my NOA has been issued. Not the response I was expecting!

Funnily, she had no information on the fee change..turns out they're late in updating their records too!!

She told me that I will probably get a notice to pay the fee again (for the bounced check), but that it will not affect my petition filing date as they are already processing the application. Interestingly, she said that another option would be to pay the biometrics fee at the center when we get fingerprinted.

Here's hoping the above info is correct. I was about to "same day" fedex a new check and application for the hefty shipping fee of $173.

Thanks to those who comiserated with me!!

We are Scr#$d if they do not because then we are outside the 90 days. Will probably send of another complete petition tomorow with new form, copies of docs and new chq.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHELP - Major mistakes with check!!
Hi, All.

Hopefully someone can give me some advice. Our last date for removing conditions is Dec 20. We sent off our petition and it arrived at the Service Center (Vermont) on Dec 12. Now we have noticed that we wrote the check for the wrong amount ($205 instead of $275) and now the check bounced!!! There is enough cash in our account now and we are hoping there will be a second presentation.

Have we screwed up royally?? Do we send off a new petition fedex tomorrow with a new check?

Anyone?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionStatus until NOA arrives
OK. So I filed the I-751 10 days before GC expired(12/20). The info line gave me the receipt number and tells me I should receive NOA soon to extend status - they may have even told me it has been sent. BTW, online case status does not recognize receipt number. Does this mean that I am not authorized to work until I receive the NOA, or since I know they have begun processing, am I ok? What do I do?
ameriscotNot TellingScotland2006-12-23 01:02:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhen to Expect NOA1?
I am in the same boat with you guys. I filed the I-751 with the old form and $205 even though I printed it out v. recently. I spoke with an immigration officer who told me my petition was being processed and not to worry. They said also that it would be possible to pay the additional $70 at the biometrics appointment.

I also had to deal with the additional problem that my $205 check bounced. I am praying it is re-submitted automatically at the bank. Typical! It's only the 2nd time in my life I've bounced a check, and it is all because I delayed a few hours in transferring $. Just my luck!!!!
