IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMissing Info/864-ds230
Hi All,

I have had a SERIOUSLY bad day. Sad. lonely, missing my beloved and tired-bad combo !

When I came home from an overbooked day at work, I decided to phone up the NVC to see if anything has gone on with our case since Thursday...
They received the last of our paperwork on April 24th.

When I phoned up, I was informed via automated response that a "checklist" was sent out yesterday. Apparently, there's some missing/incomplete info. I was devastated. I know I dotted all my "i"'s and crossed all of my "t"'s... I am so upset...I figure it will cost us yet another week or two sorting this out...I thought we were in the last lap of this miserable stretch.

So, knowing I'd find some strong shoulders here-I decided to post my lament.
I found a thread from Legaleagle-the same thing happened to her, Mary and Angel this week...when Mary and Angel spoke with operators, they were told that their cases were complete...

Is there anyone else that this has happened to??

I pray that this is the same problem for us and when I call them Monday, they will say that our case is complete as well...

Please send us some good energy...we really need some today. :(

Thanks.

Hi Joyeann !

It said the same thing for mine-but then I got an RFE !!! (I corrected the problem and sent it back)

Seems that they update the system very slowly. Speak to someone, and you may find out something different.

I have my fingers crossed that you're completed !
Good Luck ! : )

Hi ...

1. You will need the barcode sheet (see James' shortcuts for the ds-230 barcode info)
2. Part I of the form (part II to be filled out at embassy)
3. The biographic information page from the benficiary's passport

That's it...and you're done !

Good Luck and happy to hear things are moving along rapidly and smoothly for you !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long is I-130-CR1 visa valid ?
HI,

It's a green card actually. The only thing needing to be done is to lift conditions on it, which must be done 90 days prior to the beneficiary's 2 year anniversary in the US.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresstupid question
Hi Cari !

No Q is stupid, as this whole process is so complex sometimes.

Yep. They can indeed travel, as with a CR1-the AP comes along with it. That is exactly why Graham and I chose it...We have a friend who was waiting on an AP, and sadly his dad fell ill. Eventually he got an emergency AP, but he never got to say goodbye to him. He arrived to tend to his mum a day after his dad was buried. Knowing this, we never went to the K3, and decided for us, this was our best option.
Thankfully, my in-laws (God bless them) are very healthy, but things do happen unexpectedly.

So, yeah-long story short-your boys can go anywhere they want !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDid I cover everything
Hi Joye...

Nope..nothing new today with NVC, but I have bigger fish to fry. One of my ferrets is VERY ill and he's terminal-so, I am kind of on a death watch... :(

Don't get yourself in a tizzy and don't try to do it all at once. Do some, and get away from it. While you're away from it, you will re-charge your batteries and have a fresh perspective on what needs to be sent.
Relax...you're going to be fine.

1. All of the stuff from USCIS...325's, I-130 and NOA1 and NOA2

3. For Interview...My divorce cert's, My birh cert., marriage cert., photos, travel reciepts, wedding photos, wedding invitation, etc...

I think you seem to have it covered, though ! 19 days !

Thanks everyone !

I am ecstatic about this...I had been in the worst mood for weeks...road rage, talking to myself, and just being plain miserable. My anxiety level had risen to the point where I was thinking of tapping into my Boxer's Xanax ! (she has seperation anxiety)

Usually I am such an optimist. I can find something to smile or laugh about in most situations, but recently I had lost my spark b/c of this-I felt as if the end would never come. I know we have the last lap to go in this triathalon of waiting, but I am just so happy that this is coming to a close now. I am looking toward the future with a smile. :D

Thanks for the good wishes. So many of you have helped me along the way, with support, advice and kind words. I thank you.

And so, the last lap begins...

Hello...

I am beside myself with happiness today !

I had a few minutes to spare today between patients, and decided just for the hell of it, to call the NVC, so I could hear once again, that our checklist is under review...

...something made me press 5, and speak to someone....

I spoke to a very sweet girl named Nina, who told me ....

CASE COMPLETE !!!!!!
hahahahhahah !!!!!!

It's been a long 2 years of legal red tape throughout my divorce, our paperwork, our NY wedding that never happened, our co-sponsor dropping out, our RFE, etc...etc...etc...

It's time to start cleaning out the closets and make some space for my man !!!

Hi Bethanie...

I get paranoid that I will forget to send something to him and delay us. I do too many things at one time and sometimes forget to dot my "i"' s and cross my "t"'s .
It's just a something I cannot get away from-my achille's heel since I can remember...I am just NOT detail oriented. I am always too busy looking at the BIG picture and forget the small stuff sometimes...I let it happen with the 864, and I screwed us up by a few weeks. I just don't want a repeat performance...

Heyyyyy....
Did you happen to notice that the package was signed for???

Hi...

I am getting papers ready for Graham's interview, and I have a Q. We haven't gotten pkg 4 yet, but I am just being prepared in advance due to my paranoid state of mind. ;)

I have certified divorce certificates for my 2 previous marriages, but do I need to get the marriage certificates as well??

I have one on hand, but the other one was from 18 years ago (yeah-I was young & stupid)
If I have to order it up, I will-it's just that I'm not sure how necessary it would be...

Any takers?

Thanks !

Hi Louise,

If you are doing a CR1, only part 1 should be sent back. Part II is to be completed at the embassy.

Yeah...

I have HEAPS of cards from our wedding in Aberdeen, and a great autograph book as well.
I shouldn't have taken them back to NY with me, but that's life...

Yes, I agree. I feel the same...easy as it may be in Sydney or London-why take the chance if it's so simple to prevent. I am going to send it out soon, even though we are still waiting for a date... just in case something gets delayed with mail. I have 2 copies made here as well, just in case...I have found that this entire process is easier if you anticipate that there will be bumps in the road, and do your best to be wily and outsmart any possibility of something getting screwed up...

As for your interview...I can imagine what it must feel like...so much excitement, so much to look forward to ! All you have been waiting for is happening ! I cannot think of a better way to feel !!! You are going to ace it ! After that, have a few drinks and relax with your friends & family and bask in your success !

Hi Aussie,

No...My accountant thought it best to file for me as 'head of household"-without him, as his income would have affected things adversely...

I also remembered that I have flight tickets, wedding invitations, and our photographer should have our wedding book ready by next week !
Am I being ####### rententive, or do they really scrutinize things as much as that??

Hi...

I would like to begin gathering things to send over to Mr. Bruce for his upcoming interview, which hopefully will be sometime in late July...

I have organized the following to send to him:

My papers from USCIS:

I-130 (copy)
Both G-325a's (copy)
my birth certficate (original)
my divorce papers (certified)
marriage certificate (certified)
and a passport photo of Graham (for his medical)
NOA1
NOA2

Copies of papers from NVC:
DS-3032
I-864
I-864 (co-sponsor)
I-864A
DS-203

I believe he will get the interview letter, and medical papers sent to him in Scotland.

Am I forgetting anything?

Should I send our joint bank account statements ?
Bills with both names?
My mobile phone records with ump-teen text messages to his phone
My UK phone card purchase records
E-mails

Thanks !

Yeah, I would call NVC and get another pkt 4 to fax as well as calling DHL, just to cover your butt.

I know it's an unecessary stressor in all of this, and you certainly don't deserve such BS. It's going to work out.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI think I made a huge mistake...
Hello My Friend,

1st-Have a deep breath. Things are workable. You have time to work it out.

Tomorrow, call DHL and speak with a supervisor. Find out where it is exactly, and call that hub. Be as nice and as calm as you can muster up. Be kind, and calm, and tell them what you need done and why...
Get names (first and last) of everyone you speak with-write down times as well. If they cannot help you, ask very nicely, "who can I speak to that can help us ?" They have to give you over to someone that can help. Accept nothing less than getting someone to help you ...Strong, yet kind is the best way to get it done. Ask the questions and let them respond without saying a word. (a common sales closing technique) It works...
Also, have Ali call them as well, in the same manner...

See what happens with that...You'd be surprised ...

Next, if you strike out with that angle, call NVC. Speak to the operator, and explain what happened. They can get copies for you to fax.

You have some time to work it out-don't panic. It's going to be cool.

Let me know if there is any way I can help you further Joye.
