IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCertfied Copies of Tax Returns for AOS/864
Hi Everyone,

I am happy to report that things are sailing along for us. Graham got his DS-3032, and e-mailed it back to them. I sent them a copy as well of his DS-3032 via post after he scanned it and e-mailed it to me.
I also received my AOS bill, which was paid, and sent back the same day which I received it.

Now, here's my query/dilemma...

Do they want simply copies, or certifed copies? What is meant by "certified" and how would one go about getting one?
I use a CPA to prepare mine, and can probably ask him to obtain them if that is what they need.

However, last year I had my own practice ( I am a massage therapist) and unfortunately, the business was just pitiful-leaving me with very little income on my 1099 for 2005.
I have since closed it and began to contract my work out-and it is MUCH more lucrative now. I contract for only one office now, and this year my speculated income is well above the guidelines. The gentleman who owns the office is writing a letter on my behalf stating what my income will be for 2006.

Anyway...
Because of my pathetic income for 2005, my wonderful sister (who lives in the lower level of the house that I own) will be our joint sponsor, and she does not usually have her taxes prepared professionally. She does them herself, as she is a bookeeeper. How would she go about obtaining a "certfied" copy ??

Any information would be much appreciated. I wish you all a beautiful Saturday !

Thanks,

-Rose

Thanks for all that great info...

I feel like this part is the worst of it...last year I lost a business, and it killed my income for 2005.
Finding a co-sponsor has been by far the most stressful part of this. People see that agreement and pull out. Nothing was worse than when my own parents decided they wouldn't help us. It broke my heart.

Thanks Again !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 and 864 Requirements
Hi All,

I am trying to get things done as my I-864 will be coming shortly. And I want things to be done ahead of time.

I have had nothing but grief with this part of the process. We have had our original co-sponsors (my parents) back out because they read all the paperwork and freaked out ...We now have another co-sponsor and I just want to have things clarified and made as simple as possible so there are no surprises again...

Does anyone know how many years of tax returns are needed for CR1's?
Is it simply 1 year or 3 years? There was a memo on the USCIS website dated 12/21/05 that stating that some visas no longer require 3 years of tax returns. However, I can no longer find that memo on their site.

If anyone has any experience with this recently, it would be of great help to us.

Thanks,

-Rose

Hi...

The DS-230 will be sent out via the NVC once your case is under way there and things are well in the works. It is one of the last steps in the process...

Check out the NVC flowchart to give you an idea of how things are done....

Hope I have pasted this properly:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresstill need w-2's with transcripts?
Hi...

You may still need the W2's for the interview. Sometimes they want to see, sometimes they don't...In any event, it's better to have them on hand, just in case...Get a copy from your accountant if possible. If you did not use an accountant, your employer should have a copy, as they need it for their annual corporate taxes.

Best Wishes,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 and Tax Release Authorization

I simply made a photocopy of mine and sent that one in.

That is the easiest way to do so...but I filled mine in before realizing that there was only one inside the envelope.

Here is how I did it:

(I cut & pasted this for you...hope it works. If not-go to NVC Timesavers and scroll down till you see it)

In addition to the I-864, you must generate and fill out an Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data. Download the MS Word copy of the Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data (available by clicking HERE). Under the barcode, type in your case number. At the bottom of the page, replace the entire phrase "XXX City" with the name of the city in which the embassy interview will take place (i.e., the "post" in Department of State parlance). So if the embassy interview is to take place in Caracas, Venezuela, delete "XXX City" and type in "CARACAS" (all caps).

Next, replace the sample barcode in the Authorization with one generated at http://www.idautomat...earservlet.html. Under "Barcode symbology," select CODE 39. Select "No" for the "Add check digit," "Add check digit to text," and "Show text below barcode" options. Change the "X dimension" (bar width) to 0.05 and the "Barcode bar height" to 0.5. Click on "Create Barcode." In the resulting window, right click on the generated barcode and left click on Copy. Go to the Word copy of the Authorization, select the original barcode, and hit the Delete key. Then click on Paste under the Edit menu (or hit Ctrl + V on the keyboard). The barcode you generated should be in the exact same place as the original one you deleted

Good Luck...let me know if you have any difficulty, and I will do my best to help.
For me, there hasn't been anything as stressful as this form-given all the hassle I have had with co-sponsors backing out, and a whole myriad of financial issues from last year (which are thankfully ancient history ).
I would be happy to help allieviate some stress.
: )

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 and Tax Release Authorization
Hi-Thanks guys...

I wrote that Q rather late, and really did not expect many responses until today...

Here's what happened...

I filled out the tax auth. and realized that she may have needed one-then panic ensued, as I couldn't find the actual form on the USCIS site...
No worries, as I finally located the form in the "shortcuts" page 30 minutes and 50 gray hairs later...
Then I went and created the barcode for it.
I had to open up the form in Word Perfect, which made it a bit of a pain. I had to do a few things to doctor it, but by 3:00AM, it was lookin' really sharp.
I went to bed with a clear head, and impressed with my resourcefulness -LOL Needless to say, I am shattered today from having only 4 hours of sleep. But, I have a lovely document which will give me peace of mind now !!!

Thanks Again Lorelle & Sanc !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 and Tax Release Authorization
Hi,

I received our I-864 today and it scares the hell out of me...My income for 2005 did not make the cut, as I lost a business-but thankfully, my sister will be helping us by co-sponsoring.

I am all set with my 3 years of tax transcripts (2003, and 2004) and a copy of 2005's. My sister is almost all ready to go as well, with her 2003 and 2004-although she e-filed today and now has to wait 2 days to get a copy...

I only saw one "tax release authorization" form in the envelope and I am now under the impression that our co-sponsor needs one too. Of course, I realized this after I filled it out and could not make her a copy.

Am I right in assuming she needs one too??

Any advice of getting another one for her?
Should I have the NVC fax one over to her???

I saw one on the 'Shortcuts" page, but do not know how to change the case number...If I were to do that and generate the bar code, how should it be affixed???

Please help !!

Thanks,
Rose

Hi Sid,

I wish I could be of more help...but there really is no way to tell how long. Some get touched and within a few days, are appoved. Some get touched and wait a while longer.
It means someone is working on it. I would take that as a good sign-progress is always a good thing.
I am rooting for you, as I know you've been waiting a while. You and I put our cases into Vermont at the same time, back in December.

I am sending you some good energy tonight.
Here it goes:

Good Luck to you. I sure hope it goes fast and even faster for you, once you get to NVC.

Hi,

That is exactly how we did it. He came for visit on a VWP.
We did not plan on getting married during his visit, but we had a consult with an attorney about a plan for a K1 during that time. She advised us to go the CR1/IR1 route, as my husband and I preferred not to have to wait for travel permission, and we were in no position for him not to be able to work immediately.

We were married and 2 days later, he was on a plane back home. A few days later we began our paperwork, and we are nearing the end soon.

I wish you the very best luck, and congratulations on you future life together.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresi-864... Another question
Hi Joy,

Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in all the stress you faced with that bloody I-864. It has caused me more stress & worry within this last month than my ex-husband did in 10 years !!!
LOL

It has been stressful for me as well. I have similar issues as you have had with it.

I am an independant contractor, and have been with the same company now for 2 years on a part time level. Last year I was closing out a failing business and worked only 1/2 the year-this impacted my income on paper tremendously. My income for 2005 was only 14.5K, and I have a little boy as well to include on that form-which makes us a family of 3-not nearly enough to cover minimum.

Since the middle of last year, I have been contracting solely for the same company on a full time basis. Since coming on board full time, I have increased the growth of the business by about 60%, which will at the very least double my income for 2006, since I work on commission.

I asked the owner of the company to write a letter on my behalf stating that I am now a full time contractor, where in the past I only worked part time. He also wrote down my projected income for 2006. Ask your employer to do the same.

This entire process just sucks. I can relate and empathize. You are not alone, but you're going to be OK. Take a deep breath and realize you are at the tail end of this miserable wait.

All The Best,

Rose

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 question
Hi,

I am sending a copy of the W2's and I am keeping the originals for the actual interview.

And yes, wait until they generate the ds-203 until you send it off. They will generate it the following Monday after you've paid that nice fee. ;) You will need a barcode if you send it in between the time of generation and the time it hits your mailbox.

Go to the NVC Shortcuts thread and find it on James' Shortcuts. I was a bit intimidated initially, but it's rather simple to create. Just follow the directions verbatim, and you will be OK.
I did it for my husband's DS-3032, and it was fine.

Good luck.

We are at the same stage you are at, apart from having to wait for our co-sponsor's birth certficate from NY State. Seems she has a typo which is holding things up a wee bit.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresds-230-self-generated via james' shortcuts
Hi Everyone...

Today I called the NVC, and learned that our ds-230 has been generated on April 17th !
Fantastic news, as I am hoping to wrap this all up by summer's end and have my husband with us home at last.

I used James' shortcuts...

1. Graham filled out part I weeks ago, scanned it and sent it to me via e-mail.
2. I have generated the bar code and made the cover sheet.
3. I also have a copy of his passport scanned and e-mailed to me as well.

Ideally, I'd like to send this sucker off tomorrow morning and be done, but would like to know if there's anything else I need to send it off with besides the cover page, part I and his biographic data page from his passport.

Looking at Part I, there seems to be a little box at the top left-should anything such as a barcode be put in there as well?

Also, is there anything else that is to be sent along with it?

Perhaps I am being paranoid here, but better to be safe than to be sorry.

Thanks in advance !

Hi Val,

You can actually e-mail NVC direct once the ds-3032 is generated, and appoint you agent via email.Graham did this, and was notified in 2 days, that it was received.

And as for the rest of that paperwork, that is how we went about it. He dowloaded it, filled out the forms, scanned them, and sent them to me via e-mail.

Glad to see you got it all sorted !
I sent my 864 out last Saturday, and sent the ds-230 off on Wednesday. What a good feeling to see it out of my hands.
I sent mine priority as well. I didn't use their envelopes, as my 864 was HUGE and I self-generated the ds-230.

Glad I am done with it all...you must be feeling the same relief as well !

Hi...

Give it another week and give them another phone-use your USCIS number which is on the NOA for your I-130.
Ours took 3 weeks to get into the system. They may very well have it and it's just not been entered yet.

Give a call after Tuesday, as it seems they update things on Monday. Don't panic, or worry-they're just a bit slow...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Q
Hi ...

Seems I have gotten to know some of you, and your all such great supportive folks, as we're all in this together-so, here my dilemma-it may seem trivial-but it concerns us...

We're filing a CR1, his interview (God willing) will be in London, hoping for late June/July...
Anyway, Mr. Bruce and I met each other 4 years ago on an advice board. It was quite frankly a "sex advice board", which seemed to be more of a joke than a sex board...
Over the past 4 years we became GREAT, GREAT friends, and our relationship was one based on a very respectable friendship which was cultivated for 2 years before we actually met.

When the Mr. and I met, I was still married to my ex, although our actual meeting in the UK was nothing more than a holiday with my friend and his family (mum, dad, sister, and B-I-L)
Whilst I was there, there was undeniable chemistry. I recogized this, came home immediately and filed for divorce...

Now, this entire thing seems sordid, although truthfully it was not anything like that...

I am left wondering (as I have since Mr. Bruce and I decided that we were meant to be together) what exactly the adjucating officer will ask regarding the circumstances of the beginning of our relationship and how we met. The whole thing is a wee bit embarassing although nothing could be further from the truth. The relationship had always been quite respectable. I am however, concerned as how far they will delve into our past, and if we will be judged as adulturous deviants !!!

I KNOW we must be honest, but I'd like to keep the honesty as general as possible.
Any graduates of London care to share the types of q's they were asked? Just how personal do they get???

Thanks in Advance !

I would have liked to have my husband spend some time with his step-son over the summer so they could have a nice start together. They are fine friends already, but it would have been nice if it could have been the way I wanted it to be.

Hi Ed,
I found out:
Seems that they want ppl to wait for the checklist and then send it in via post. The guy I spoke with said not to fax anything....

As for my situation:
I have learned that they want me to add my sister onto my 864 as a household member, and combine our salaries. To me, it seems RIDICULOUS. She lives downstairs in my house, neither of us claims the other as dependants, and our finances are completely seperate entities. The only common thing we have is that she is our joint sponsor and we happen to live in the same house. Makes no sense...
Worse still, is they say it can take up to 4 weeks to get the papers needed to correct this...Then, they must review them...
I am so aggravated I cannot see straight. Maybe, just maybe I will have my husband here by Christmas...
It's enough to make my blood boil.

This is what I get for trying to do things the right way...

Suffice to say, I am very pissed off right now.

Hi All,

I have had a SERIOUSLY bad day. Sad. lonely, missing my beloved and tired-bad combo !

When I came home from an overbooked day at work, I decided to phone up the NVC to see if anything has gone on with our case since Thursday...
They received the last of our paperwork on April 24th.

When I phoned up, I was informed via automated response that a "checklist" was sent out yesterday. Apparently, there's some missing/incomplete info. I was devastated. I know I dotted all my "i"'s and crossed all of my "t"'s... I am so upset...I figure it will cost us yet another week or two sorting this out...I thought we were in the last lap of this miserable stretch.

So, knowing I'd find some strong shoulders here-I decided to post my lament.
I found a thread from Legaleagle-the same thing happened to her, Mary and Angel this week...when Mary and Angel spoke with operators, they were told that their cases were complete...

Is there anyone else that this has happened to??

I pray that this is the same problem for us and when I call them Monday, they will say that our case is complete as well...

Please send us some good energy...we really need some today. :(

Thanks.
