K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTattoos on medical
Not to worry about a tattoo or a few for that matter. Mr. Bruce has quite a large one, and no one even as much as blinked an eye about it.
As for the smoking that was mentioned before-although he will not admit to such a thing, I am sure that Mr. Bruce smokes at least 2 packs a day. However, I would think that this may even work is his favor, as the gov't will make mucho deniero off of the tobacco taxes...bad for his health, but good for them...

Middle East and North AfricaAnd speaking of jealousy....
Hmmm...This is a good one.
When I would go visit my husband in Aberdeen, I got many, many strange looks. I did not think we looked all that different together, but apparently, they did. Particularly the women, they did not know I was American. The men were all very kind to me in contrast.

When my husband explained it to me... I just did look like one of the "cookie cutter Aberdeen women". I am not pasty white, with mousy colored ironed straight hair, nor do I have a round middle and a wide caboose. I am small and quite dark-according to them- 4' 10". 100lbs. My skin is olive, and my hair is black. I am of Sicilian origins, and right proud of it.

This did not bother me at first, but after the first few visits it began to get under my skin. Then the ethnic slurs happened on my last visit. The worst was being called a "sand n-----" on my way out of a crowded ladies room in a restaurant. The Sicilian in me wanted to give them something to whine about, but the Buddhist in me won out.
I simply realized the ugliness they behaved with was simply ignorance, and being so undeveloped from never stepping out of their town. I prayed for them to open their eyes and realize the world is comprised of different people...

I love my husband's family, but it truly soured me on wanting future visits due to the ignorance of some of the folks in his former city.

Hi All,

I too, am not MENA, but you could bet your last penny that I would NEVER do it again-EVER. At times, it nearly put me over the edge.

I have heard, "never say never"...but I can tell you-NEVER. It's just too much-ALL of it...

We were friends for many years, and we knew each other inside out for YEARS before we ever met face to face. So, with that said-I would have married him even if he looked like Shrek.

We did not plan on getting married as soon as we did, or the way that we did, but what's done is done.

Would I do it again? Yeah. No doubt.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPlease post here Any Recent VSC I-130 Approvals
Hi Siddarth,

I like your name very much !
I filed in Vermont in December as well, and haven't heard anything since Dec. 14th, which was just a few days after I received my NOA1.

I wonder if perhaps things got a little backed up with the holidays???

In any event, I am in the same boat as you, my friend. I wake up each day hoping for that magic e-mail which will make my day. In the meantime, I keep myself busy with my work, family and friends. No one understands unless they go through it, which we all have here on this forum.

It will come. Have hope. :D

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan I withdraw petition prior to interview?
If it's a CR1, she doesn't have to be there for the interview as it is not in the US.

Queen, my advice is: cover your a**, and make the call to the embassy. Then, write a letter. Send it certified, return reciept to the NVC and to the Embassy.

Good luck, and I am sorry it did not work out.

Ahhh, Cool !
Thank you !

I have another Q-maybe I am getting a little cracked here, but it seems that since I registered for updates via e-mail with the USCIS, most of my unrelated e-mails seem to be delayed in reaching me...It could be hours before they get to me. Especially the ones I get from my husband and my in-laws in the UK...they seem to take the longest to reach me...Is it possible for e-mails to be under review??

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting spouse
Hi...
This is my first post here, although I have been reading since November.

I married a wonderful man from the UK in November here in New York. Two days later, I sadly had to say good bye to him so we could go about filing our CR1. Which we did on 12/5/06. I have received NOA1 on Dec. 9th, and was "touched" last on Dec 14th. So far, I look every day at my case status with hope.

We had a micro wedding here, and have been planning a big bash for friends and family back in his home town of Aberdeen on February 25th. I am traveling to Aberdeen on Feb. 20th and I am beginning to be concerned as to what to say when I am questioned at immigration in Aberdeen.

Do I tell them I am visiting my husband for our 2nd wedding? Or should I just say I am attending "a wedding", or visiting relatives? Obviously they will see the name change in my US passport when it is scanned...
Since I know very well that he cannot return here until he has his passport stamped and such- my question is, will I raise a red flag with my honesty? Or shall I keep it simple?

Anyone have any experience with this???

Thanks !

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan my husband come to US for a visit while his immigration visa is being processed?
Hi Nina,

I was advised by my attorney that once paperwork is on file, there is a very good possibility of a P.O. E denial, which would be awful...
I had the same Q, as getting the time off from work to visit my husband in the UK is limited, and his work allows him more flexibility...

It sucks, but keep in mind all of this is temporary and the end of the road brings a great reward...

Hi...

Today I have my last day off until I got visit my dear husband in the UK for our wedding reception. I am running around this house, trying to clean up and get organized before I leave on Monday. Between now and then, I am working like a dog...

I check my e-mail and, nearly fell to my knees. I message from CRIS, telling me that we have been approved. I know we have a long way to go yet, but the first leg is over. First thing I did was call my sweetheart and tell him. I could hardly get my fingers on the number keys !!

2 years of waiting is finally coming to an end.

Thank God !

I need to update my timeline !!!!
Then, I need a drink.
The housework can wait. : )

Hi, I had the same issue and simply wrote that I was an "independant contractor" in my profession .
People in my profession (massage therapist) sometimes work 3 jobs at a time, for 3 months or so and move on to the next contract. It is rare to stay at one place for more than a year...

They had no problem with this, as we got our approval just last week.

I am back from my trip to the UK and our 2nd wedding. It was great fun !!!!
Still jetlagged...

On Feb. 15, we got our approval, and our written NOA2 on Feb. 18th, but nothing yet from NVC. I was wondering when to give them a call just to check on things...All I have is our case # from VSC.

Will that be enough information???

Would calling on Wednesday be too soon? It will be three weeks to the day.

Hi !!!

I sent mine off on December 5th, they receieved it on Dec. 9th, and I got my NOA1 on December 13th.
I got my NOA2 on February 15th. When I sent mine in, it was the middle of holiday month, and quite frankly when I was notified of the NOA2, I was floored with speed at which it was done.

Looking at the charts & such helps.
I wish you a rapid turnabout.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSilly Barcode Question
Hey Guys,

Here's a silly question about the barcode on the DS-3032...it is kind of a stupid question, but I am home today with an 8 year old who's not feeling good-and well, I haven't been able to do much besides think too much...

Is the barcode they send a sticky thing that affixes to the form? Do they send more than one with the packages to each party (sponsor & beneficiary) ?

I ask b/c I'd like my husband to fill out the form now, scan it and e-mail it. That way, I can simply affix it and send it off with my I-864 bill which I will be receiving before he gets his package in the UK. I have spoken with him about sending in his Choice of Agent via e-mail, and he seems to be put off by that a bit.

As I said, I have too much time on my hands today and I am thinking of ways to get this ball rolling a little faster...

Thanks !

Hi Eric,

I will say, on rare occasions you get a scratchy line, or a delay-but it's rare. We've been using it close to a year now, and I have found it to be the best deal for me and Graham to speak usually 2x a day.
There's no fee. 2.2cents/min and most of the time a good line.

Hi Joye,

Yesterday was my first time calling them- to my surprise, (and also my husband's when we spoke later that day) they were incredibly nice and personable... I expected the same type of person I deal with at DMV...pleasant surprise it was !

I have been told our paperwork was received on Feb 27th, so all I am doing is sitting tight and waiting for the postman.

I tried to call before, as I'd like to have the date which the forms were posted. I forgot to ask that yesterday...I was just happy that the paperwork made it over from Vermont...
I couldn't get through again...

I'll try later on again, I suppose.

Hope your day is good and you got some good news from NVC !
