Why don't you think she makes a good ambassador, Gil?

I thinks it's her qualifications honestly. I just feel like to be a serious Ambassador, you should have at least some basic knowledge about the region...if not that then at least a PhD. in international Affairs or Political Science. To me it just looks like she was a bigwig in GWB's campaign and JA. is her prize! mad.gif

It just bothers me, because I know their are so MANY qualified Dems and Pub's that could do her job...take it seriously and help the country they are the Ambassador for.
Not just pretty photo op's.

That's why I sent my email to the Obama campaign...I felt like...well OK, I am JUST as qualified ...if not more...to be the US-JA Ambassador then. The only thing I don't have is what really counts...MONEY!!!

Brenda LaGrange Johnson
Brenda LaGrange Johnson of Connecticut and New York, business executive and philanthropist, is the new U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica. She was a partner since 1977 with BrenMer Industries, importing and marketing consumer products.

Ambassador Johnson is on the Duke University Advisory Board of the Nasher Art Museum. She was a founding member, President, and Chairman of the Women’s Board of the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club and continues her affiliation with the Club as a trustee. In 2002, President George W. Bush appointed her to the President’s Advisory Council to the Arts (PACA) for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and in 2004, she was appointed to the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Johnson has been a member of the Woodrow Wilson Council since 1999. She also served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society and the National Institutes of Health National Cancer Advisory Board.

She is a member of the National Finance Advisory Council for the George and Barbara Bush Endowment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She is married to J. Howard Johnson and has four children and four grandchildren.

Like I said...it's all about WHO you know!!! (She probably HATES Jamaica and wanted Fiji or UK instead! tongue_ss.gif tongue.gif )

Are you sure it's not fractured? The bones in your toes are very easily fractured, and hard to tell. If the swelling does not subside, check it out. It might only be a hairline fracture but it can hurt like he!! and you toe can become deformed. You can also try soaking it in warm water and then icing it down--helps the pain. But don't sit around with it if it keep bothering you.

Mawnin Gill,

Ain't that the TRUTH! I was high risk so I had to go to the doctor more often than a normal pregnancy. After the first 3 months I didn't care anymore. I'd hop on the table and SPREAD EAGLE and say "aright doc, let's get it on"...she would bust out laughing. I don't know if any of you every had a vaginal ultrasound (I truly hate those). I had to ask the technical where she was about to put that. Her face just turned bright RED. I delivered at a teaching hospital and it can get crazy sometimes, but there's usually 2 docs around. They didn't let a resident deliver me though, because I was high risk, but with my sis it was a resident and the doctor was guiding his hands for a C-section and he did a great job. I was trying to convince my doctor to give me a tummy tuck while she was doing my incision for my C-section (she just laughed).

Mawning Lawns,

Gurl, I hear you! Hated those vaginal ultrasounds...plus they made me drink a TON of wata...and press down pon mi bladder...hit came in like some Chinese Torture Test!

Sending prayers out to Tonya on the interview today, and congrats LaPrincessa, that's great news!

I know we have discussed the cell phone situation once our SO arrive - but have any of you had issues with them still in JA? I am about ready to kill DJ over the phone, lol - First, his phone was a piece of ####### that you couldn't hear on - so he bought a new one. Then that one died - so we went about two weeks with him calling me when he could borrow a phone to put his SIM card in - I about killed him, so he finally bought a new one. He had it 3 days, and dropped it in a bucket of concrete while he was working! So, it sounds like there is something rattling or as if you are talking in a wind tunnel. I swear, I don't get it - I have had the same cell for 2 years now!

Yes, we hear this over and over again. They are very rough on cell phones. Andre's had this one for almost 2 years now and it's about on it's last leg. He said he never had one for more then 6 months before, though. Baby steps.........

Gilly.....That issue you are having will come and go. I agree with Jengs, that sometimes he seems like they rebel against you so that when you speed up, they slow down. I've found Andre has picked up his pace quite a bit. He's forever telling me to hurry up or he needs something immediately when before it was all soon come. There are other things that he seems incredibly slow at and I've learned to ignore just deal with. A few examples would be the dishes sitting in the sink for days when he's off and I'm working both jobs. I just leave them there now. If I was home, I would do them immediately. Second....his clean clothes piling up on the kid's beds because he hates to put them away. I hate them laying all around. I give him a few days, making sure to include at least one he is off. If they are still there after, I open his closet, toss them in, and close the door. He's way too slow at driving; but that one, I'm kind of thankful for. He has managed to be on time to work....something I thought I'd never see!!!!

I would agree, were in this phase now where I wish my hubby would slow down, he's always runnin, yellin come nah blink.gif wacko.gif . He's gown so very much-We have grown so much. It is wonderful when the score is even, so to speak and you're really depending on each other but you're not really depending on each other? Gill, he'll pick up the pace, that or surpass ie, you'll set back and say damn look at my man go. good.gif There is a mountain of clothing in our bedroom whistling.gif

Thanks Brownie!! I can't wait to get there! I am already REALLY proud of him! I keep asking if he's happy and he always says 'Of course'...Then I ask if he misses JA and he says 'Not really...I miss KJ...but, this is my life now. He will be here soon enough!' But like I said...it's just good to hear that I'm am not going crazy! wacko.gif laughing.gif

P.S.- We want to set-up a 'supermarket' account for KJ's Mom...does anyone know what I am talking about? Sus-ie,

First, I hope u feel better soon! Secondly...Gurrrrrrrrl, don't even get me started on the cell phone thing! Ok, if you can get over the heart attack that is your first bill...then we get to move on to what I like to call Digicel drama!!! ohmy.gif In the 17 months that we were together before Ken got here we went through no lie EIGHT frigging phones!! Ok, his first one was ####### and he had to take of the cover to answer it! Needless to say we had alot of missed calls! KJ lost the Megaphone (don't even get me started on why a TWO year old Baby had the phone to begin with!). Ken had to stand out in the dyam Caribbean Sea to get a bloody signal...then the company went belly-up and there was no more Megaphone! So then we got the last phone which he bought from another friend and that served us til he got here in April!

I SO hear you on the dyam phone drama...hang tight...the "As The Phone Rings" drama should get better.

Bless,
Gill

P.S.- It sounds like Dj is like Ken and will find a way the call you regardless of any BC phone issue! wink.gif Determination, when it comes to phone calls is a GOOD thing! laughing.gif

Hey everyone!

I am so sorry for not posting the good news!!! blush.gif I came back from the interview and have been SO busy. I am in the first year of law school and exams are next week, so when I came back I began the study schedule and have not been posting or really reading anything.

I appreciate all the help everyone gave us and I love VJ! No worries I will be back to post and be part of my yardie family after April 30 (when my finals end). Again, I am so sorry everyone, I did not mean to leave everyone in the dark.

I miss everyone and law school sucks headbonk.gif don't go! LoL!

PS: How long does it take to get the visa? Was planning a May arrival too soon? Thanks wink.gif

Congrats Cessa!!!!! kicking.gif No, I think a May arrival date will be fine!! It took ten days for Ken to get his Visa...so yours should be arriving ANYDAY now!! Please keep us posted and DON'T be a stranger!! I hear you about Law School...that thing is NO joke!! Keep studying!!! laughing.gif laughing.gif

Mawning My wonderful VJ Family,

Welcome back Jengy (& Missa Jengy- good.gif)!!! Congrats to Minfey and Fam! Ok, I have alot of reading to do! Ken, I & the family, had a VERY busy weekend. We took the boys to the movies, helped my cousin moved, went to my son's hockey, soccer, & track games and I finally took Ken out dancing in Brooklyn on Sunday night (music was great...but Ken was not impressed wid the security pon top of security, no smoking in the club rules...etc.-he now understands why we (Americans or Farriner's) have such a good time when we go down to JA.) But it was ALL good!

He met a few more of my cousins, (who I am very close with and was very nervous about cause they are so important to me) another Aunt & Uncle and they all LOVED him!! Ken actually busted his hump helping my cousin and her hubby move this weekend and they really appreciated his help!

I come from a VERY CLOSE knit family and they are tough on new applicants trying to get in laughing.gif...they couldn't stand my ex...but they all LOVED Ken!!!!! biggrin.gif Don't get me wrong whether they liked him or not...I wouldn't be backing down from our marriage. Ken's my ONE...he's that 'once in a lifetime' love we all read about! But, it just makes life so much easier when they all get along. Trust me...I learned that from Marriage #1!

Life is good! I am so very blessed to have him, and him, me... wink.gif Life has been so much better since he arrived for EVERYONE!! I get to sleep in late, cause he makes Breakfast and takes care of the boys! He has started helping my Dad (who IMO has a hording problem laughing.gif) start cleaning out our basement and other hiding holes around the house!

The one issue I have found is my pace. I don't know if anyone else had this problem when their SO first got here. But I have been a single Mom for 7-8 years now...so I am use to doing things at my pace and being ready and having my kids ready... when I'm ready (which is usually quick fast! laughing.gif). Now, I have to adjust to working at other persons pace and being patient cause his pace is not as fast as mine. I was PMSing last week and blew-up at Ken cause I was waiting on him. I apologized profusely and explained the issue I was having. We talked it out and he is trying to speed up is pace and I am learning to slow mine and 'TRY' to give us more time to do what we have to do to be out!

Other than that all is well...seriously REALLY WELL biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ! I'm following JG's lead and think putting this stuff out there b/c it may help someone else learn from my mistakes and I may get some good tips on how to better handle this situation next time!

Have Bless-ed day Family...now let me get back to my 'catch-up' reading!

Gill

P.S.- Who had their interview again today? Well, good luck to you both and you are in my prayers!!

Hey Ladies!
Everyone have fun that is going to Jamaica! I am going in June for... SEVEN WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but that doesnt offer me much comfort now, haha.
Lita- How are you doing today..thanks for the prayers
Gill- ARE YOU LOVING LIFE WITH KEN??????

Ladies, I need you. I am about to lose all hope and I am about to go crazy. I filed my 130 October 30. I am still at vermont. STILL. I am so depressed and so frustrated and completely have NO control in this situation. Its just rediculous. It makes me feel like I was just jaded before to think that our government actually cared. I know that seems a weird thing to say..but seriously. They are keeping families apart - and then they wonder about the moral decline of our country....
ANYWAY. I am just asking you to pray hope for me, peace for me, but most specifically FAVOR and SPEED in this process.
I am so thankful for you guys!

HANG TIGHT SHREWDIE....Yuh don't know deh devil is a LIAR!!!!! Your time is coming! Honestly, the whole time I waited for my NOA2 (5 bloody months) I cried screamed and just couldn't deal ...ask the Elders they will tell you! But in hindsight...G-d was good...because it gave me more time to plan and prepare myself and my family for Ken's arrival. To say it has been AMAZING having him here... is an understatement.

I don't like to jinx myself...but everything has been so good since em come. He has won over my Father(not an easy task)...my biggest opponent on the whole filing thing. My boys adore him and the rest of my family seem to like him also! He hasn't complained about ANYTHING other than finding work! Life is just coming together nicely. And in many ways I don't know if that would have been the case if he would have come earlier.

So Shrewdie, I know it's hard...trust me I DO!! But remember it is NOT for us to question G-d's timeline only for us to accept it and TRY to work within it! And remember...this too shall pass!

Bless-ed,
Gill

Good Morning All,

I bought my plane ticket yesterday to MoBay.......Roundtrip from Charleston, WV to MBJ was $431.00 that's including taxes and fees......Which is a good price to fly into here......

Our interview is next Tuesday at 9am........I am flying in on Sunday and returning on Wednesday, 4/16......

Andrew is getting very emotional right now.......As the time is getting closer, he is telling more of his friends that he will be leaving soon.......And he is realizing that he is beginning to start a new life here with me and my son.......His friends are extremely happy for him but at the same time really hates to see him leave......

My prayers go out to each and every one of you......God is good!........

I don't talk alot in here......but 3 years ago my 18 yo son was killed in a car wreck.......He was my first born........We have been in the court system over this wreck for the last 2 years......One of our cases was ruled against by the circuit judge.......We have asked the Supreme Court of WV to hear our case......They voted 3-2 to put it on the calendar......Last week, we went before the Supreme Court and they voted 4-1 to hear our case........I was up at 1am on Tuesday morning last week, praying to the Good Lord.........It is not a easy task to get a case heard in front of our Supreme Court......On Thursday morning, I got the call.......4-1 to hear our case!.........GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!

Peace & Love,
Tonya

Oh, Tonya, my heart goes out to you - There is nothing that can compare to the pain of losing a child, and then to have to deal with the nightmare and injustices that can exist in our court system makes the pain intensify - Very happy to hear that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear your case.

Best of luck on your interview, you must be getting so excited!

AMEN!!!! Ohhh Tonya...I am so very sorry to hear about your son! There is nothing worst than a child leaving this earth before a parent. Your time has come T.!!! Walk in that court room with your head held high and just know that your VJ family is always watching your back and your boy is watching his Mom from above, fight to save another family from having to suffer the way that you have!

Go with G-d and remember God is Good ALL the time...AND...ALL the time God is GOOD!!!!

Blessed love and much luck to you...please keep us posted and know that we are ALWAYS here for you!

Take care,
Gill

Lord, I ask that you take JENGS under your wings at this moment. Please HOLD on to her, because she needs you now more than ever.

No matter how steep your ountain, the Lord will climb it with you. He will light your path in darkness, his hand will guide you through. There is really nothing in this vast world to fear. God hear all of your questions, he send the answer so clear. "HAVE FAITH AND PATIENCE MY SISTER" ... He can calm the troubled waters.

Lord I also ask that you watch over all my sisters here and to please help me get better my Wednesday. Lord, all these things I ask in your precious name. AMEN. AMEN. AMEN
