good.gif i agree with you Dada i dont even mention anything really to my friends because of the same thing everyone is like really a jamaican WHY??? he want a greencard ect... and yes it is ignorant but i cant lie i use to be the same way, i hated dancehall music and never even thought twice about getting with a Jamaican let alone marrying one blink.gif but it is funny how things change and how everything is a growing process now im the first one busting a wine on the dance floor lol and it really have nothing to do with me falling inlove with a jamaican man blush.gif i think it was the visit to the country it was refreshing to see a place where black ppl are the majority and the vibez was crazy.

That's great to hear Ladies!!! What's funny is I only told a select few of my family members that I had filed for my Ken, b/c I just didn't want to hear all the negativity...AND MY FAMILY ARE JAMAICANS, laughing.gif so don't feel as if you are alone or just Americans are biased towards Yardies. My Father & older family members were convinced that Ken had 5 kids in the country and was just after a GC!!

However, now that Ken has been here for over a year...my Dad LOVES himself some Ken!! rofl.gif Honestly, somedays I think he likes Ken more than me! "Where mi Son deh?" "Is wat yuh duh wid Ken?" "When Ken coming? I need em fi help mi wid....!" laughing.gif My whole family now embraces Ken...but it was difficult when he first arrived. But I just put my blinders on and told everyone to give him a chance...cause neither he, nor me were going anywhere!

However, I will say that I feel blessed because as much as I talked to Ken everyday (50 times a day) when we were dating, asked my 20 million questions 50 times each to him and travelled back and forth to Yard...you never REALLY know someone until you have to deal and live with them day in and day out!

But love regardless or race, greed, religion or nationality is ALWAYS a gamble...and if someone tells you otherwise they are lying!!

Gill

It's okay to cry Chica - that's how you get all those emotions out. rose.gif Once you have done that set your sights on something just for you that you want to do. Having something fun in the horizon always gets me through the down times, even if it's just something small. blush.gif

Isles is spot on Wakes. It's like a horrible rollercoaster. Somedays are good and then others are just so painful you doubt you can even breathe! Do whatever YOU need to do to get through those days! That's why I said I was just gonna sit back...but I'm REAL curious as the exactly WHAT 'dangers' their are in dating...not to mention (cluch my pearls) marrying a Jamaican man!

I'm sorry as a Jamaican I found this rather insulting. Do I think what Dwayne did to Wakey was JACKED THE PHOCK-UP? HELL YEAH!!! But do I think that can happen in ANY culture and with ANY man!! My first marriage was to an American and he was a pissashyt MF'er, but I don't think there are any 'dangers' in dating an American man!!!

I agree Gill.... It happens in every single culture out there. Not just that either. There are women out here that treat men like sh!t to now.

Kimmy/Gill...I agree 100%...I love Jamaica from the time I step outside and look at the hills across from the airport and breath in that air and let the sun hit my face...I'm so happy (no matter) what mood I was in before, all of my stress just gone.
Shemmy, you talking $20.00...if I'm missing $5.00 I freak out...but I understand what' you're saying. My brother had to learn the hard way. How the hell you go to Jamaica with $1500/US and the money done in less than 2 weeks, cause you going from Negril to Portmore almost everyday partying. The "money man" mentality take YEARS to get out their system...my aunt told me she stop fuss with her husband, til dem rob im rass one night at bottom road in Mobay...then he learned.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every Mawning that how eiddah Ken ah seh hit tuh mi or mi tuh em..."Mawnin' Babe, WE NEED A TRIP HOME!!!! Just the vibes are so dyam different! Is like the minute yuh step through the customs door outside everything just SLOW DOWN and I exhale...I'm home!!! luv.gif

I NEED A VACATION YA'LL!!! wacko.gif

So now that you'll are almost finish, GC on order, when are you planning on taking the whole family home.

We were really pushing for August! I had a GREAT rate for 4/5 of us to fly down...stay 7 days at an all-inclusive for $2300!! But I had to do the responsible thing and finally pay Peter and not rob his #### to pay Paul... AGAIN!!! Ken's son is still down there and we are REALLY missing him! We haven't seen him in over a year and his Mom has yet to send a recent pic of him! So, we are going to keep on saving and praying that this rash of decent priced fares & lodgings continue...til we can do it the right way! I need a vacation lay-away plan!! laughing.gif

Hey Kimmy, oh yes there is...(laughing), Come with me to the British Virgin Island next week... There is room, booked a 3 bedroom condo, two people backed out.

I agree w/Kimmy! Oh, I've been to the Bahamas, Cayman, Barbados, TNT, St. Maarteen, Antigua, PR, DR (used to work for Pan Am laughing.gif)...they are ALL lovely...but fuh mi ...there is no place like home. Oh trust me, I KNOW that everyone wants to come here however they can. I've had nearly every JA man I've come across there beg me to bring my friends over cause they want the same chance my mister is getting. Granted, they don't outright say that but I can read between the lines. I try to explain that even if I could get my girlfriends to come over, it doesn't mean there's any guarantee that they'll like any of these guys. And I know many of them asking are dogs who have many girlfriends (or a wife) in JA already. And enough of them are rumheads who none of my friends would want so it makes for slim pickings if that is someone's intention (to go over there to find someone). But yes, the reality is that getting to America is a main goal for many and for all I know, my mister could be the best actor in the world and that's his only reason for being with me. I'm well aware of this possibility as I'm sure most, if not all, of the yardies are too. We can only hope and pray that our situation is 'different' from those that don't turn out so well but you never know until you try and take a chance on that love. And it doesn't help to have someone come along and say "I told you so!" That's just plain petty and does nothing to open up someone's eyes to the 'dangers' of involving one's self with a Jamaican.

I have one - If a man / woman has dogged you out, been outright caught out in their lies, totally disrespected you, lied to you and about you - WHY would you give him / her another chance?

A). Either you have a VERY low self-esteem and think this man/woman is the best you can get!

B ). You're taking some illegal drugs like crack or meth!

Hey just my opinion!

Bless Bless,
Gill

I will never understand this one...a lot of women feel any man is better than no man.

I agree Jaws, it is so painful to watch first hand. Even worse to go through personally. So many Sisters get caught up with the fact that they got a man...even if it's a pissashyt man! My Granny used to say..."Better to be alone...then wish you were!"

Gill

wah u a seh Gill;

mi granni use to also tell mi that "you can do bad all by yourself" and no mek no man drag u dung ar use u fi one mat...but most of all it took me a long time to know this one and realize it "KNOW YOUR SELF WORTH"...there is nothing worse than being in a relationship/with someone and FEELING ALONE...cho man mad.gif

A family member asked me to be one of her bridesmaid and I politely declined, so now, she wish she never did ask mi, cause mi ungrateful...a my choice and she know why I don't agree wid di union, BUT WHO NO HEAR WE FEEL EEH ...

Bullet Bullet Bullet or LICK WOOD!!!!! That is so dyam true...cause no one is truly gonna love you ...til yuh love yuhself FIRST!!!

Mawning Mrs. P.,

I have a question...don't know if anyone can answer it for me but...here goes....

We are looking to book a trip back to yard in August (don't know if we can...but want to try). Ken's JA passport expired in January. We are sending off the documents for him to get it renewed tomorrow. Can anyone tell me if the Consulate is for real when they say 4-6 weeks for processing and has anyone had issues with getting the JA passport renewed!?

I thought I heard someone say that the passport pics were a problem

Any info anyone might have would be helpful!

Thanks and stay blessed,
Gill

unfortunately i will be caught by the increase because i can't reapply till may sad.gif

Thanks so much...I will definitely look into this!

espero haber contestado a tu respuesta

hola MKCT

Milagros,

QUOTE (Mrs.Walker @ Apr 6 2009, 10:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to let it out somewhere. My mother-n-law is quickly becoming a pain in my ####. My husband i got married April of 2007 I filed his paperwork in December of 2007 because getting my marriage certificate took longer than I expected. I got approved for th I-129f and th I-130 in December of 2008. I let the I-129f continue you to process because it will put me in better position for getting a closer interview date when the NVC has completed th case of the I-130. I am th agent of contact for my husband so anything they need the write me and tell me about it. okay my mother-n-law just got married and got her GC, she was married over here and got her stuff filed over here. She calls me to ask about how my paperwork was going so I started to tell her where we are in the process, BIG Mistake! she started saying she told me to bring her son up on a I-129f and he would have been here a long time ago and I would not be going through all this process if I had listened to her and she would have been able to come to the wedding........ Stop........ I did not tell her to be in America when we got married, its my husband and my wedding we paid for it, if I wanted to have it in Jamaica I will have it in Jamaica that is where most of our family is. so move forward. MY husband's case is at the NVC, I have paid all the fees and sent all my documents, I sent in the copy of his passport and original birth certificate guess the rules changed on the documents because they are telling me his passport is expired and his birth certificate needs to be computer generated. So now my husband has to gt a passport as well as his birth certificate. His mother tells me that the NVC should not be writing me an asking me for all of this stuff and they do not need a copy of his passport or the original birth certificate until he gos for the interview in Jamaica and that I must be doing something wrong because everyone she ask about it that has filed for someone has never done this. She then did the unthinkable, she said I should send her a copy of ll the paperwork I sent in so she could find wt mistake I made. #######!!!! i then said to her I did not like what she said because she is implying that I don't know what I am doing. She then says to me that i should let someone give her a call that I know of that have filed this way. I didn't even answer I just told her that i would talk to her the next day. This proses is hard and this woman is just driving me crazy! Please someone I need some advice because I feel like I want to just let it all go and forget about this whole process, I love my Husband, however this is all getting to be too much.

Mrs W.,

You are obviously not a fool or a half-wit...because you have reached this far in the process. I whole-heartedly agree with Jonesie! If it is not going to cause a problem b/t you & your husband...LEAVE HER ALONE!! This entire process is taxing enough...the last thing you need is for any further aggravation! And that is exactly what I would tell her once he arrives and is finally packed away in YOUR home!

Hang tight and stay strong..."This too shall pass!'

Bless-ed,
Gill
