If you wanted to get started sooner, those forms are online. They're linked to from this site (see Example forms) or on USCIS's site. I usually get to them by googling the form name: I-485, I-131, I-765.

Nat, you're so right. All of the documents I submitted for the k1 were online versions & I typed the answers. I don't know what I was thinking. Actually I know, I read on here about items that will be needed for processing but I want a complete print out of what is needed somewhat b4 hand so I can begin gathering them. But as you suggested & what I did know already, I can get them from link you provided. Thanks Nat for the useful insight.

Hello All!!! Hope everyone is feeling ok. As usual, I'm just checking in being that I'm presently "idle" @ work. I managed to call USCIS today to request the AOS, EAD, & AD forms. So hopefully in a week or so I will have them & begin the next half of this tedious but well worth it journey. Check back in a little later. Take care everyone.

Hi everyone!!!!
Philly, I'm glad to know that you were able to hear something from family & friends. Unfortunately my co-worker lost an uncle who went to Haiti on vacation from NY. Sad situation.
Dens, welcome back & congrats on your approval. Depending on how fast the embassy processes the visa usually determines how fast DHL will have visa for pick up. Our interview was the the 14th which was a Tuesday & by that Friday it was ready for pick up.
Nothing much going on with me. Taking it easy. My son went w/his dad & sister for wkend & holiday, so that gave us some true alone time.
Take care everyone

Thanks to all my VJ family for your concern, emails and texts have been recvd confirming some family and friends are alive but have nothing. Still waiting to here from others I continue to pray for good news. Continue to pray as there is a long road ahead (L) (F)

This is great news!

Hi Philly!! I'm glad to know that you have begun to hear from family and friends back in Haiti. I will definitely continue to pray for more good news on your end.
Dens, welcome back & congrats on the good news. I dbt it will take DHL 2wks especially if he's picking it up. If there is any delay, it would be on the embassy end.
If I'm not mistaken, Steve or Nat(?) good job on the driving today.
As usual, take care all & enjoy the week!!!

Release Date: January 15, 2010

For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
Contact:

"As part of the Department's ongoing efforts to assist Haiti following Tuesday's devastating earthquake, I am announcing the designation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals who were in the United States as of January 12, 2010. This is a disaster of historic proportions and this designation will allow eligible Haitian nationals in the United States to continue living and working in our country for the next 18 months. Providing a temporary refuge for Haitian nationals who are currently in the United States and whose personal safety would be endangered by returning to Haiti is part of this Administration's continuing efforts to support Haiti's recovery."

"At this moment of tragedy in Haiti it is tempting for people suffering in the aftermath of the earthquake to seek refuge elsewhere. But attempting to leave Haiti now will only bring more hardship to the Haitian people and nation. The international community has rallied to deliver relief to Haiti. Much has already arrived and much more is on its way. The Haitians are resilient and determined and their role in addressing this crisis in their homeland will be essential to Haiti's future."

"It is important to note that TPS will apply only to those individuals who were in the United States as of January 12, 2010. Those who attempt to travel to the United States after January 12, 2010 will not be eligible for TPS and will be repatriated."

"The Department of Homeland Security continues to extend sympathy to our Haitian neighbors and support the worldwide relief effort underway in every way we can. Four Coast Guard cutters have arrived in Haiti, in addition to a variety of Coast Guard assets that were already in the area to support military air traffic control, conduct damage assessments and rescue people in need of assistance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) continues to work closely with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department - the lead U.S. federal agencies in the response - while coordinating the deployment of state and local Urban Search and Rescue Teams from across the country to Haiti and standing by to provide food, water and other resources as requested. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has provided aircraft to support response efforts."

"Haitians in the U.S. who are eligible to apply for TPS should go to or call USCIS toll-free at (800) 375-5283."

Echoing what Nat said and just to be safe I waited 2 weeks and 1 day. I think the info for the SS # is in the guides. You should go back and ask to speak with a supervisor. Maybe the lady didn't know what she was doing. keep us posted.

Morning!!! You know, the place was packed & it was an hour before closing when she called our #. I did print up guide and had it with me but as I said, woman was pretty adament about it taking homeland security 30days to put info in system. I shall return next week & attempt again. I'll show up early & hope I don't get her. If I do, she just will have to "pass the buck" to a supervisor b/c I will be ADAMENT about speaking w/one this time around. Thanks MrsTee & Nat!!

Good night fellow VJ members!!! Today my SO & I went to apply for ss#. He's been here since Dec 27, which was a Sunday. As we were called to desk & explained why we were there, woman stated we had to wait 30days after his entry before he could apply. I proceeded to ask when did this go into affect b/c online(VJ guide actually) states 2wks, if I'm not mistaken. She claimed for sometime now & it used to be 2wks. Ultimately, we didn't get through. Anyone else ever heard of this or experienced this?

I love it. I don't like driving in town cause it's too damn congested. The road to Negril in the late 80s to 1998 was AWFUL! then driving to St. Elizabeth to Kingston then back up to my end in Trelawny...lawd ave merci....my dad thought me to drive in ja I was 14 but I was riding a motor bike when I was 12...such the tom boy I was.

That makes two of us. Such a tom boy I was. I still have my passion for cars/motorcycles/speed but I'm VERY LADY LIKE in my older years.

I had a dream lastnite that i finally learned how to drive in Jamaica. lollllllllllll, so on the interview date, i hope to drive on the left side of the road, not right. pray for us.......

LOL for real. You will get the hang of it. I did. I drove from Maggotty St Elizabeth to Santa Cruz St Elizabeth. My SO is a taxi driver & I'm a car/speed fanatic. So, yea, I did the road hog style and I live in NY. You can do it!!!!!!!

I hear you, you make a decision and you go with it! I had to do the same thing.

Ok, I feel better Im not the only one!! I know the transition is the next step to the challenges we face. Course theres always that bullshit bmama drama I have to contend with ...

:) So what WOULD you do different?

As with all of us, transition can be hard.
In regards to BM drama, don't make it discourage you one bit!!!! Life actually will be better off for the child as the father is able to find work & contribute to raising of the child again. If you see where BM want to hype up herself on the phone, hang up after a few choice words or tell her to EASY!!!!!!!
VJ family is here to give input & comfort when needed.
Best of luck on journey

:hehe:

So I have a serious question for e/one.

As things have moved and stalled and moved again, and thru all the issues, drama, tears, fights, pain and all... Im sure we all have similar stories and trials. Question is.. would you do it all over again? Or, knowing what you know now, would you run like hell.

Im sometimes 50/50 on this. I love my husband, but getting to where we are (and we arent even there yet) has been a ride- and sometimes downright painfull. I dont regret marrying him! Dont regret loving him.. but sometimes I regret meeting him. Is that bad?

Very good question. I definitely would do it over. I really do love Acory & he proffesses his love to me in more than one way.(I read Steve Harvey book). As Nat stated, I would have taken less trips & saved money.
I do admit, it gets trying @ times, but I'm confident it will work. Communication is key!!

Interesting...aww that's cute how you two interact....I love it!!!

Dens, your making me smile.
Hows Mr. Man? Is he good. One of Acory & I friend got through to come to NY. He actually should have been here long time b/c he married his wife in 2008. He however had to "cleanse" & easy himself b4 medical. Lol.
I'm happy for my friend b/c this is now 2nd close friend of Cory now living in driving distance. Basically Cory can go mingle w/the fellas b/c my friends & I are something when ready. A good something though.

While away from VJ, I managed to select a book @ library while there w/my son. I'm reading Maneater by Mary B Morrison. Very interesting book. I read over 150 pages yesterday. I prbly finish it today. At the end of first half, there were questions. One question was, would you still marry your fiance if you found XXXXrated pics of them?? Cory answered by saying in a relationship everything should be easily revealed to one another espclly if we're speaking about marriage. He also went on to say, that shows the woman had something to hide & maybe hiding more skeletons in closet.I shot back & said maybe she doesn't want her past to interfere w/her present & she prbly felt no need to reveal the pics. Who knows. It's not me but question made me think.
This book at one time was on the essence magazines top book selection.

Morning all! Haven't posted in awhile. I however, have been on here reading though. I'm fairly busy of lately. I did manage to complete the EAD & AP. So now I just have to gather all items needed for AOS which I'm currently doing. Unfortunately we had to change date of marriage. It will be on the 5th of march. Works out better for us & we need to sort out things.
Apart from that, everything is irie!

So last night was date night for me and my Sweetie...it went well until the very end...long story short...Den told me that I'm spoiled! I was pissed to say the least. We ended up making up before we went to bed but that thang had me hotter than fish grease on a Friday night at a fish fry!!!!
Truth be told...I am kinda spoiled...but I didn't want to hear that from him...

My question is what is the one thing or things that your SO has said about you that might have some truth to it?

Well Acory tells me that i get vex to easily. I agree but thing is that has been me for so long. Little things just seem to irritate me. He seems to deal with it but he doesnt hesitate to bring it to my attention.

Den's.....what will he do if it's not his child? It might be best to have a DNA test now, while the child is so young, if that's the way you truly feel.

I truly felt lost but I found you all. It's funny you bring up the DNA thing. We can't base looks/features as the sole guarantee as to if the child is really the fathers. But IDK. I indirectly have brought that to his attention. Time will tell!!!!!!

Your welcome Mo. I hope things get better for you too with work and home :)

As far as work, it is what it is!! I'm a very vocal person & someone supposedly got offended & reported me. Hey!! What to say. She shouldve chat me to my face & not behind my back.
Now @ home, I have a 6yr old who is a dead stamp of his father!!! Good thing! Anyhow he is straight facety!? I @ times hear him answering Acory rudely or saying things like " my daddy is from Kingston Cory" & one time he said your're not my dad. I've spoken to him & his dad has too. It's getting a little better. But he tests my patience. He's my pumpkinhead but he have a slick mouth, just like me. Lol

morning all!

I am in a great mood today Its friday and its beautiful outside!

I have a ?. Do u agree with sharing your bank PIN with your spouse??

Well we just opened a joint savings & checking acct. We share pin #s as well. Quite frankly, I have been banking w/another financial institute for awhile & that's where I have direct deposit & two more savings(one for me & one for my son). Hubby doesn't have pin for those accts. Accounts we share have enough funds for his use so I don't believe he needs my other bank cards pin. Plus he seems to just use cash for purchases.

Congrats on being part of the "married" club... all the best to you and Acory[img]

Thanks MrsTee for the clarification and welcoming me to the married club. As I said before, the packet will be mailed today. Mailing packet off is a big relief.

Hello & goodnight. I hope everyone & there SO are doing fine. & to those who have just touched down, I hope you are adjusting accordingly. I must say it has been awhile since I last post here. I've been extremely busy. My work environment was a bit uneasy, my son testing me, preparing for & ultimately getting married on March 5th. And lastly, gathering all documents required for AOS, EAD, & AP. I have intentions of mailing it tomorrow, 3/19/10. I however seem unsure as to which address to use, the Chicago lockbox address with the P.O Box or the 131 South Dearborn Chicago address? I want confirmation it was received so I'm thinking to send it to the 131 address as opposed to the P.O Box. Which address have most of you all used?? Or better yet, which is clearly said to be used by USCIS?
Thanks in advance all!!!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaOVER A MONTH STILL NO K1 VISA IN HAND!
Sorry to hear about the long delay your experiencing. We had our interview on a Tuesday & it was ready for pick up by that Friday.
Unfortunately, due to JA not extriditing Dudus "the real big man in Tivoli Gardens", the US was said to be revoking visas of prominent Jamaicans. They also had stated they were not going to be issuing US visas. Now that in part or whole could be the reason for hold up. Quite frankly, it shouldn't b/c Dudus has no affiliation w/ur hubby to be. Plus your hubby was approved & waiting to get visa in hand. I recommend that you 2 keep trying to contact someone @ Embassy. But right now it appears the hold up may be due to the Americans, particularly NY, wanting Dudus. I wish they would go hard for Bin Laden.
Anyhow, best of luck & I hope he get visa SOON.

Morning all!! It's been awhile since I've made my presence known. But I'm here. I do however peek in anonymous just to read.
I was saddened to hear that one of the ladies(Sprewdgal) passed away. May she rest in peace.
Dens, congrats on the closing. Owning a home is a great accomplishment that you & hubby get to enjoy.
Acrow(i think that's the name) & Always, congrats on pregnancies. That's a true blessing & it will be a wonderful experience.
Kjenkins, in due time honey. Focus on the upcoming wedding & breathe easy.
Now as for me being missing. My mother is having a surgery. Of course she's a nervous wreck so I've been trying to calm her. I also have been accompanying her on the pre surgical testing. So basically, I'm being there for mom. The surgery is May 3rd.
Dens, after reading your post about the RFE, we decided to check our online status. WE TOO GOT AN RFE!! Outrageous. I can't wait to get the reasoning behind this. Anyhow, today we have the biometrics appt.
Last week Cory got his drivers permit. Now we're looking to schedule road test. Might as well get that out of way while we have the time.
Take care all & enjoy the day!!
