I need some ideas on a Valentine present for my Jamaican wife. This will be our first Valentine's Day together.

Ok Jay,

I would start by SENDING her flowers http://ww4.1800flowers.com/ (Shameless plug laughing.gif ). If she is working...send to her JOB if not, then send to home.

Make or Order (dependent upon your talents in the kitchen whistling.gif ) a nice dinner (HER favorites) (add candles and the whole nine), buy her a nice piece of lingere (something you would like to see her in), get a BEAUTIFUL CARD and express exactly how you feel about spending your very first V-Day together with her in it. Then pull out the little black, or blue box! Earrings, necklace... It doesn't have to be SUPER expensive or Diamonds(Macys should be having a pretty good sale soon). Just a little something that when she puts it on she can remember how much her wonderful husband loves & cherishes her!

Hmmmmm...I think that's it!

Good luck and I have a wonderfu &l creative V-day! Don't forget Jay...you're her best friend...you know what she likes! good.gif

Bless-ed,
Gill

P.S.- Don't forget the whipped cream, chocolate syrup , chocolate -covered strawberries and/or a nice bottle of wine! For the after dinner treat! laughing.gif laughing.gif

Wow, that dosen't sound good for us. unsure.gif Do you know if he'll have to go to some place special to have the DNA test done. Is there a certain DNA testing place the Embassy requires, or will they take any DNA test?

Mawning Chica,

Another VJ member told me that MoBay Hope can do the DNA test same time for $87.00. They will have the results by the Interview.

Why did I read that it had to be an embassy approved testing center? I need to find out. blush.gif

Well, I know that MoBay Hope is Embassy approved for the medical exam. Again, Browns this is really second hand info from another VJ member that had filed a K1 & K2 , like myself.

I was going to call tomorrow (They are closed today - holiday- Ash Wednesday) to find out for sure!

Woman From Country

A Jamaican woman, from Country, leaves Jamaica for the first time to visit her son in the USA.
She arrives at Miami airport immigration and, as expected, she has no idea what the immigration card is for. The officer, in disgust, begins to fill it in for her. "What is your name ?", says the officer "Meh name BABY", she replies with a smile "BABY ??".
He looks at her. She smiles at him again confidently. "No, What is your whole name?", he asks again. "Meh name BABY, sah", she says with a slight annoyance.
"No, NO, what is your WHOLE name", he says again
"Meh whole name ???". She repeats his question as a question. "Yes, your whole name". He thinks 'at last I got through'. She looks down, feels awkward and remains silent for a while, and says: "Suh, meh hole name PUNNY !"

WOMEN'S A$$ SIZE STUDY

There is a new study out about women and how they feel about their A$$. I thought the results were pretty interesting.

85% of women think their A$$ is too big...

10% of women think their A$$ is too little...

The other 5% say that they don't care - they love him and would have married him anyway.

Polls are closed. Tim Russert just made a veiled comment that makes me think he thinks Obama is gong to take Missouri.

Honestly, I'd like to see him win and run with Hilary as his VP. I like enough of both of them to think they would make great running mates and see the changes we need. I have some issues with each on their own. I know, I know.....that's a pipe dream. One can always hope.

It's amazing to me that as many people voted as did. Many Missouri cities are flooding as we speak. We are having such crazy winter weather right now.

When someone knows the results please post.

MO is SOOOOOO dyam close!! Hill has majority of the state. But Barack has the cities (Kansas City & St. Louis) which are more populated than the rest of MO. It's a SERIOUS NAIL-BITER!!! They will probably spilt the delegates!

Thanks for getting out there and voting! I know TN. & AR. were having some INSANE tornadoes and thunderstorms!

oh, just saw your post Yardie. You make a great point about some states voting earlier than others...by days or weeks. Now that IS unfair. I was thinking just east/west coast time difference, but weeks ahead...makes no sense. The one thing to remember is we are a degate and electoral voting country..not a popular vote. So depending on the State you are in depends on just how many votes your candidate gets. So those delegates can really swing a vote. Your votes that you casted really do help get the delegates in your state up and on your side. Also I think i heard that people like Guliani can give their votes to another candidate. Like now you see Guliani supporting McCain so I guess he got his votes. I'm not sure its all so confusing. But after Super Tuesday the elections are not over. they could go well into march as everyone keeps saying. This race is sooo close on the Democrat side it just may take awhile.

Isn't it so confusing wacko.gif

While I kind of understand the whole delegate thing because I am interested in it and have researched it I know that many people don't get it at all, won't take the time to get it and/or could care less. It is those people who don't feel like their vote will count because they don't get this whole jumbled up process and they watch the news that says that the GOP nom is going to be so and so 2 weeks before they even get the chance to vote so they think "why bother?" and don't vote.

Since the Republican race is not so close it will basically be decided before we get to our primary in 2 weeks so all the Republicans in my state will basically vote in a pointless race...their vote really won't matter because statistically our state doesn't carry enough delegates to make an impact either way.

As for the whole Guiliani giving his votes to whomever he endorses...I believe that is the way it works as well. Whatever delegates Guiliani has accumulated when he drops out will be given to whomever he endorses/chooses to turn his votes over to. I think this is a flawed thing as well. Follow this scenario: I am republican and my top three are Guiliani, Romney and Paul...in that order and I despise McCain for whatever reason. Since the candidates don't have to announce who they would endorse if they drop out, I would vote for Guiliani. 3 weeks later Guiliani drops out totally unexpectedly and gives MY vote to McCain. BUT had I known Guiliani would endorse McCain I could have changed my initial vote to be Romney because I would prefer him over McCain. Does that make sense? Why does it have to be like that? I think the whole thing is messed up.

Gurl...

good.gif Yup! I went out early this morning and voted after watching the news and hearing the LAST CALL STATEMENT from the Democratic Candidates.

Lita or any West Coast Family members,

Can I ask you...there has been alot of talk in the media lately about how upsetting it is for West Coast voters to hear East Coast results...prior to the end of their polls closing.

How do you feel about that! I didn't realize that they do that in the general election too.

Bless,
Gill

A co-worker and I were just talking about this and other similar things. It is upsetting because for us it feels like our vote doesn't even count. Like they are saying that Super Tuesday will basically decide who will win the nomination. Well our primary isn't for another 2 weeks so what affect does our vote really have? Lots of people ask...why even vote? In my county and state voter turnout is pretty low, I have often concluded that the reasoning behind it is probably because they don't feel like their vote matters. Or when it comes to the actual presidential election. I know many people that have gone to vote when the winner has already been announced because of the time difference.

Why can't we all vote at the same time? or a lot closer together?

I was also wondering about the states that have primaries very early on. How do those people that voted Guiliani or Edwards feel? I think they would feel like their vote was useless since they have since dropped out of the race. What about all those that had to vote so early and didn't get to hear all the latest debates and news...how is that fair?

I think we should all vote at the same time...after all hearing the same speeches, debates, scandals, etc. The way it is set up now makes me feel like it isn't a level playing field.

Yuh know what Yardie...that has ALWAYS bothered me! NY just moved up their Primary for this year...usually we don't vote until May or June...which is TOTALLY useless! Typicall by then there is only ONE candidate to vote for!

But Lita is right! This year for Democrats anyway the race is going to go into March. Because the way the delegates works for Dems is if Hillary get 49% of popular vote and Barack gets 51% of popular vote and let's say a state has 4 delegates to give...the will spilt it 2 for Hillary and 2 for Barack...It's whoever gets 2025 delegates first wins the nomination! A candidate needs to get at least 75% of the popular vote to get ALL of the delegates that a stat has to offer.

However the Republicans work differently. Most states are if you win the popular election regardless of the percentage you get all of the delegates that state has to give. That's why many news organizations are saying McCain COULD wrap-up the nomination tonight, but very doubtful. They have to get 1191 delegates to win it!

SO, if you are a registered Dem...the race is FAR FROM OVER!! However, if your a pubby...then yes it could be tonight, but I don't think it will be. Either way I agree stinks! There should be one Primary/Caucus day...nationally!

Duties of a Wife

Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given
their new wives duties.

The 1st man had married an Asian woman
and bragged that he had told his wife she was going to do all the
dishes and house cleaning. He said it took a couple of days but on
the 3rd day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were
done.

The 2nd man had married a French woman.
He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do
All the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. On the 1st day he didn't see
any results, but the next day it was better. By the 3rd day, his
house was clean, the dishes were done and he had a huge dinner on
the table.

The 3rd man married a Jamaican woman.
He boasted that he had told her that her duties were to keep the
house clean, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot
meals on the table for every meal. He said the 1st day he didn't'
see anything, the 2nd day he didn't see anything but by the 3rd
day most of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out
of his left eye; enough to fix himself a bite to eat, load the
dishwasher and call a landscaper.

Got to love those Jamaican women!!!!

The most amazing thing happened to me this evening. I hired a babysitter to watch the kids while I go to school. She started this evening. From inital contact she told me she was a christian and when she went to church ok cool. Just wanted her for one night. So she starts tonight and I asked her if she cleaned. I knew she did because one of her references told me. So I asked her how much additional she would charge. (a sister is TIRED when she comes home and weekends all I do is sleep on saturday and do laundry on sunday) anyway my girl told me that the spirit spoke to her and she can't charge me for babysitting. I had to look at her twice and said excuse me and she repeated it. She said the spirit spoke to her and she can't charge me for babysitting and she's only going to do it until mr. jengles comes back. She said when she goes against God something bad happens. I gave her offering to put in the plate.

God knows what no one else knows .. who God Bless no Man curse...BELIEVE THAT..

Now on the keeping it real, speaking to her on the phone, she sounded like a big west indian woman and when I opened the door mi sey...the gyal pretty bad...I was like oh hell no...but she was so sweet...can't judge a book by its cover...

Tru ting DAT Jengy!!!! good.gif good.gif That was so sweet of her! luv.gif I love when good things happen to good people!

Ok, I need help (no comments from the peanut gallery please laughing.gif)!

When you guys went on your interviews did you take copies of your prior years taxes or a 'Tax transcript' from each year?

I misread the required docs list, and just realized that they prefer the transcript instead of the actual returns. I am going to see if I can find out where to get them and if I will have enough time.

Thanks and blessings,
Gill

I'm so excited I dont know what to do. Its just an exciting time in the history of our country. My state...California...has a HUGE impact on Super Tuesday and Barak and Hilary had their debate here (LA) last week...it was off the chain!! Very good debate, and the first time 2 contenders didn't get all nasty with one another. It was very civilized and informative. I gotta say though when the news was interviwing people around here in LA, Barak was coming out a front runner. But that was just Los Angeles. And then the other day Maria Shriver, announced her support for him. Thats our Govenors wife...you know the Terminator, haha. anyway they are republicans so that was a HUGE endorsement for him.

Gurl, I know! California and Missouri (thought about you J.G.)are a BIGGIES!!!!! I LOVED Maria Shriver for coming out...can I tell you I so don't get how that marriage works...WHATEVER!!!

They said that LA and St.Louis were polling strong for Barack but, outside areas were hard to call or going for Hilary.

I throughly enjoyed their last debate...it reminded me why I am a registered Dem!

Ok ladies, Its SUPER TUESDAY tomorrow. I hope all of you within the 24 some odd states who have the voting options, will be flexing yuh voting POWER!!!

I am so excited and nervous all at the same time! Mi even dream bout ie lass night. Ah toss an ah tun all night mi tell yuh!! Lawd, you would swear ie was mi mummy and daddy pon deh ballot deh. haha

Anyway, just thought I'd throw in a pump it up reminder......Oh!! idea9dv.gif If you didn't know, that you can only vote fro your party in the Primary elections....well now yuh knoa! Meaning...no cross political party voting. if you are a registered Democrat...you can only have the option for voting democrat. If you are a Rep, only can vote Rep. If you are Libertarian, Green, Peace. you can only vote feh dem. BUT!! if you are Independent...the Democrats allow you to vote Democratic. Also if you are non-Partisan you can vote Democrat too. Anyway...its all very confusing cause even I didnt know this and I think that I am either registered Independant, or Green so mi nah knoa wha mi fi do come tomorrow. Just ask your representative at your polling place if you have any questions. You can also take a look at your sample ballot on page 1. That page lists the Presidential candidates you have the option to vote for.

GO BARACK!!!!

Gurl,

I just sent an email to all of my friends and family URGING them to vote Obama tomorrow!

Remember...YES...WE...CAN!!!!

I am so excited about tomorrow..I can barely wait!!! The Giants were the underdogs too and they pulled it out!!

Hey Sweets, I would definately email the Embassy after the NVC sends it to them. Memba what I said...Get your KNG# first then send them an email (I let them know I was coming down for a visit and asked if 'I' could drop it off). They of course gave me a date the day after I left!

The only reason I think it's better is because a). I DO NOT TRUST THAT CRAZY JA. MAIL SYSTEM cool.gif. At least you know that you placed it in someone's hands and IT GOT THERE and c). It's quicker way to get your interview date!
