There is no activity today and I found this article on CNN today and found it rather amusing/ignorant. Any ideas from anyone else? Don't we live in America, the melting pot?! wacko.gif

http://www.cnn.com/2...ette/index.html

It is just another example of the small-minded Americans (not all of us). During the last election, politicians and the media used the gay marriage issue to distract us from the real problems going on in this country. This election they are using immigration. Unfortunately, the dumb ones will fall for it again.

You're dead on, Steph!!! good.gif ...Damn shame though no0pb.gif ...'Land of the Free' and some people are afraid to think for themselves no0pb.gif

For those of you waiting....hang in there....let me share what Amr said this morning after our approval that hit me as being a bit deep. He didnt MEAN it to be..but as you will see...it REALLY relates to what we are going through as "waiters".........

Once Amr asked me why women have more than one baby, if the first one hurts sooooooooo much to have. I said that after the birth, the new mother can only focus on her new little one...and the love she has makes her forget all the pain she endured to bring that baby into this world. He still didnt understand.

This morning he said, Faith, this is so odd, so weird. He said...Im so happy that I dont remember the wait. I said THATS CHILDBIRTH!!! LOL. BUT...its deep what he said....we work so hard, sweat it out till we get that approval, agonize over it, cry over it, worry over it. Then when that blessed event of an approval happens...we soon forget the pain of the wait...an d focus on our love and the future. Just like that new mother. So keep in mind, this is like labor...delivery is about to happen...and soon...all will be forgotten....Keep your eyes ahead, not on your feet.

That's really beautiful and SOOOOO true!! Thanks Faith...that definitely helped me to refocus the prospective. luv.gif

Many Blessings,
Gill

What a way to start the month and I want an early birthday present!!! Come on VSC!!!

Has anyone gone ahead and filed the DHS Form 7001? They say to send this in if you are experiencing process delays that extend past what they promote.

Well I just got off the phone with "customer service and was told that I have to wait 17 more days before they will do a service request for me because they are process petitions from May 19 so mine is stll within there service time.....You see the 6 month on the website is the time frame they pull out of their ###*s when they feel like screwing with people's lives.....This little person reallt pissed me off today....so I asked her if Margaret #***** was lying to me on Friday or is she today....and get this she told me that the processing date could of backed up so if I could of filed on Friday then they could of processed it then but I was one day shy of 6 months but today my petition is within there processing time......but her is the kicker....If 17 days from now they are only processing say May 25 then I will have to wait 10 more days......so the 6 months is a joke......I hate them......

For REAL...that just sounds like some really evil 'f-with her head' ish they are making up as they go along!! I read your post twice and I STILL don't know what the he11 they are talking about...I'm so sorry you have to go through this Lora...this whole crazy process is just JACKED-UP!!!

Thank you....Im sure you can understand...its nothing against July filers...but the process. Im sure you'd feel the same if everyone else around you and AFTER you were getting word...while you sit and get conflicting information and told to call back in 30 MORE days..(3rd month of being told that)....Anyone that doesnt mind group hugs, venting, crying and is looking for support, comfort and a place to OFFER support come on over...even if you aren't a june/july filer...group hugs are very much needed.

Mirla,
I believe you said that your fiance is in NY? Well, he CAN call Senator's Schumer and Clinton's NYC offices!! They are a pain in the butt to get through, keep trying (you may have to call the D.C. office and ask them to transfer you to NYC wacko.gif )... they will help, especially Schumer's office. There is an intern there by the name of Paul. He works in the immigration dept., very nice guy!!

I called the beginning of November (I'm not very patient whistling.gif )... he called me back the next day to verify my info. He finally called me on Monday to tell me my case is not with an adjudicator as of yet (duh wacko.gif). But he also told me to call him again next week! He said IF I pass the 180 day mark, he can really start 'Barking' or do an official inquiry!

My Dear...you are pasted 180 days. Your fiance, should type a letter explaining the whole ordeal and how emotionally draining the whole process is...blah blah blah. Then don't mail it...he should fax it to the NYC office. 'Attn: Paul in Immigration Dept.'

This is Chuck's NYC office info:

Hi All,

Some background: Married to my wife (she's the USC) in October 2006 (so less than 2 years). I've filled out and submitted both the I-129f and the I-130 applications and they are currently being processed at the CSC.

On to the reason for this topic: After I arrive on my K3 visa, is there any policy that says that I must live with my wife in the US for the duration of my stay in order to retain my visa status?

It seems odd I'm sure, but we want to transition slowly into living together after such a long time apart by starting with just being in the same city and...well...dating each other again I guess you could say. She has a full time job and does 60 hours of coursework/class getting her masters on top of that and isn't sure that she can deal with the stress of me just immediately moving in to her house after such a long separation. We miss each other very much of course, but we don't want to rush into this as it's a very big step. We have lived together before briefly, but it seems like so long ago that we want to ease back into it...

So I was wondering if I'd send up any red flags if I was to rent an apartment for the first 6 months of my stay on my K3? Is there any policy that says that we must reside at the same address for the entire time or risk termination of my visa?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mike

I'm leaving for Houston this Friday. I have got my passport with the visa, a sealed envelope from the embassy, too. I thought things would be easy from this point but it seems they will not. I read I'd have to go through an interview in the US airport, too, and also present these things and fill in some forms there or on the plane. Is there ANYTHING else I should take? I was told by someone at VJ that I had to show and present my vaccine records, and preferably ALL the copies of the paperwork my fiancé and I presented at the embassy. Is this true? what do they ACTUALLY ask for? I thought the sealed envelope did include my vaccine records. My fiancé took all the copies and massive paperwork, as well as my vaccine record papers with him when he left Peru this Sunday. Please help! I think I shouldn't worry, that all I should bring is that sealed envelope and my passport, but I have felt confused and worried too.

I was under the impression that the divorce cert is enough, after all can't have a divorce without a marriage to begin with. Anyway, my Fiance got his package 3 today and it said that I will be required to also provide a marriage cert along with my divorce papers. Thankfully I am in a position where this is easily obtainable for me and I will be able to get them this afternoon. Just curious.

You guys must be getting excited, contgrats on getting the interview date.

You will need for the interview:
A complete duplicate copy of the I-129F that you was submitted in the U.S.
A copy of the NOA2
3 years tax returns
Last 3 paycheck stubs
A letter from your Fiance's job stating how long he has worked, full time, how much he makes, his position etc.
A letter from his bank stating how long his account has been open and how much money is in each account
A letter from your Fiance stating his desire to continue with the Fiance visa and his desire to marry you
Proof of your ongoing relationship since your NOA1. Pictures together, airline tickets, hotel receipt, letters, e-mails etc.
If he has the receipt for your engagment ring, that also is good.
At least 3 passpost pictures for the interview is required. You will also need about 3 for your medical.
Also, you are required to have 3 police certificates. I will try find out what the 3rd one is.

You do not need to translate your birth certificate or police certificates for the interview. The translation of your birth certificate comes later after you arrive in the U.S.

Yes, you should get your birth certificate certified by RENIEC

Medical is $95 U.S. Dollars and the visa fee, yes has increased to $131.00 U.S. Dollars

Best of luck for your interview

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPOLICE CERTIFICATE QUESTION (k1 visa)
HELLO all VJ members !
I have a quick question
My Fiance got his packet 3, for visa K1 and we are pondering on the police certificate. They say he needs a police certificate from the places he has lived since he is 16..
he know lives in Peru. He is 30 years old, but at the age of 16 thru 18 years old he lived in Mexico.
Thers no way we can get a police certificate from Mexico since he would have to request it in person, I think its irrelevant to ask for that. I always thought that it was always important to bring a police certificate for the place of residency within the last 10 years!
Help! whistling.gif if anyone nows what they are really asking at the day of the interview!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTax return & medical examination costs!
QUOTE (Johana&Jared @ Mar 22 2008, 10:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi you all smile.gif I was wondering what the exact cost of the whole medical examination is. Read it was $95 plus 250 soles for vaccinations, but then I read 2 other members said to be ready to pay more than 700 soles extra!
(I'm making a budget) has this been like that for most people who already went through the medical examination prior to the interview? I'd appreciate it if someone threw some light over this topic.
ALSO, another question; I read the tax return one has to present at the interview should be presented if the sponsor is self-employed. My fiancé is not self-employed, so we assume we don't need to deal with that. Has anyone heard of people at the embassy still asking for it during the interview date? We do expect this won't happen, but one never knows, so I'm just making sure by asking.
Hugs to you all, thanks for being a support! tongue.gif

Hey, everyone.

This is Jared, not Johana.

I'm getting extremely worried, because the interview date is approaching, and there are all the normal stresses of getting the paperwork done in time and so on.

The main thing worrying me right now is that I don't know how much money the people at the embassy are going to want to see in my bank account. To be totally explicit, I think I can have between $4,000 and $5,000 showing in my accounts total by the time I fly to Peru.

Is that enough?

Anyone who had a successful interview and was granted a visa, PLEASE respond to this...let me know how much money you displayed to them. I need to know if I'm even in the ballpark. My best friend owes me a lot of money and he is apparently going back on his word about paying me back on time as he promised, so my fears are currently being compounded.

Thanks for any responses in advance,

-Jared

Hey Jared, I know you feel stressed. We all do at this time in the process. But step back and take a breath biggrin.gif from the info you have listed here you are more than fine. To my knowledge the embassy did not even review my bank info and I make less than you do laughing.gif and had roughly the same amount in the bank. We were approved with no problems....

Im mad for that !!! they are taking advantage!!! ugh ranting33va.gif

QUOTE (Johana&Jared @ Apr 3 2008, 03:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi there! I had my medical exam in Peru, yesterday, and would like to share that experience with you, it might be helpful for people that haven't gone through it yet.
I went there in the morning, had an appointment with Dr. Oscar Situ. In the morning, I got x-rays taken and also blood samples. It was pretty fast. I was told to return in the afternoon, with certain amount of money for the vaccines, my vaccinations record card, apart from the money or fee to see the doctor.
I got there, again, and after waiting for a while, I had my appointment with doctor Oscar. It must have lasted... 5 minutes. He just asked one or two questions about my medical history, examined me briefly, and that was it. He was nice and polite (and had lots of fake pieces of prehispanic pottery in his office) and told me what vaccines I should get, and to arrange that with the secretary, at the second level of the clinic.
Here is when the weird part comes... I must tell, before I was called to see the doctor, I had been talking with some other people, fiancees as well, and they showed me the paper they were given, saying they had to pay outrageous sums of money for a few vaccines, even though we had all been told in the morning it would be a lot less.
So anyway, I was prepared to pay about 850 soles for the vaccines, just as the other people did, lacking exactly the same vaccines, but when I went to see this secretary, she told me I had to pay over 1310 soles. blink.gif The whole thing didn't make sense to me, she was analyzing me and my financial situation, when talking about the price. So I got mad but tried hard not to show it, and told her to explain in detail the price for every vaccine, and list it. She refused to do that, to list the prices, but told me about it orally. So I found out they were adding me charges for vaccines they knew I had had as a child, and fairly complained, telling her that. So then she said 'Ok, I guess I can cancel these 3 vaccines you had had'. But then she told me: 'let me see you, show me scares that prove you have had Varicella, why don't you have any scares in your face? ' This really annoyed me, she wasn't nice at all and the impression I got is that they try to take as much money of you as possible. mad.gif One of the vaccines you have to have (human papillomavirus), if you are a woman, is 650 soles there. Well, in the end, I got the bill for the vaccines largely reduced, to 915 soles.
I talked to another woman as I was waiting to get the shots, and she also had a different price, almost 900 soles again, except she was going to be given less vaccines than I was.
They also do not advertise their prices for vaccines or have a list or anything like that to show, I truly disliked this, because I think it is just not fair and they get more money out of some. It's not about health or anything like that.
So, just one piece of advice... if you want to save some money, and are just starting the K1 visa process, get some vaccines on time, since in the end, they'll require your vaccination history or card to look for it, and they are way cheaper in some other places or even free.
It's just not true that if you got the shots somewhere else before, it would be rejected and you'd have to get all redone, what they care about is that you meet all the requirements, having all the vaccines you are asked for, not necessarily care if you had them all at the doctor's clinic.
Greetings! smile.gif

Yes I believe they want the biographical page sent in. Somewhere in the paper work it says that it needs to be sent in as soon as possible. I know it can be confusing, I wish they sent an english version by email to those of us in the states. Good luck with every thing.

Thanks again! I'm cool with the instructions and such being in Spanish, but they literally contradict themselves throughout the course of the instructions page! Not cool!

If you look at the Embassy info page ( http://www.visajourn...e...ru&cty=Lima ), it says that now they're saying don't even bother with that (sending back the bio form)... Uf! I'm hoping to hear back from Gringita. I think she was the one who indicated that it wasn't necessary. If not, guess I'll just call the Embassy. smile.gif

Thanks for all your help! You rock!

Hi people! This is an exciting month, several interviews! yay, good luck to you all! I have really grown fond of all the patient fiances and fiancess I came across here. smile.gif
Well, just a few things to tell. This Monday, I had to return to Dr Oscar Situ's office, to pick up my results, pay the rest of the money I had to, and get the Hepatitis A + B shot.
I went to see the secretary, who is in charged of the vaccines and their prices. I told her my fiance and I checked the government's and embassy's web site, and they listed an approximate price for the HPV vaccine, which is just given to young women, and it was $120. I also told her I had called the other 2 doctors, and they charged 490 soles for that vaccine. And actually, even less for the others. Finally, I kind of threaten her, telling her I didn't want to but I was going to report this to the embassy. She started to be super nice to me, and the negotiation started. She said that she'd reduce the price!!! Yeah, believe it or not, but I have the receipt to prove it, and the initial price written down on the medical appointment letter. mad.gif First she said, Ok, I guess the vaccine should be less, you'll pay $10 less. After I said it was not possible, since the other docs charged a lot less, she said $20, then $30 and then a bit more. As you all know, the initial total price was over 1000 soles, which was outrageous to me, then I got it down to 930, after arguing, and this time, after I told the secretary all this, I got it reduced to 840 soles (+$150). LOL. I have basically saved about 400 soles. What do you think about this? wow.gif Particularly, I feel indignation. Off-Topic2.gif But this is how it was. I didn't haggle with a street vendor or at a store. It just tells me 2 things: They have overpriced the vaccines, trying to get as much as they can, otherwise they wouldn't have been nice and then tell me I'd pay less after what I said. And also, that everything seems to be negotiable... there's always a chance to try, no matter whom you deal with or where. I don't like it when people are dishonest or unfair. Sad but true.
Cheers!

Ginecological????? for myt K1 in peru that was not necesary. maybe in Brazil the medical is different i dont know....... in peru they check you have certain vaccines according to your age, also chest X rays to discard TBC and blood test to know if you have at least aids.... i am not sure about siphilis but if you have aids you wont get the visa.
the medical is a fast review.... i have allergies, had one hernia operation, take birth control pills (permanent medication) but all that is common and not reason to discualify.

yeah... it also sounds to me like you guys are trying to hide something.......

gynecological exam NO!
and what are u hiding ? or are u being just curious?

QUOTE (Angela & Paul @ Sep 5 2008, 03:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Couldn't find the info on the archives, so I am asking.

How much medical history - if any - do you have to provide at the medical exam (this is for the exam prior to K-1 visa interview)? If asked, do you have to be truthful and mention diseases/illnesses/accidents/etc... that will not be discovered during the test?
Because the medical exam (and tests) is to try and discover anything that would meet the guidelines for refusal, I am wondering why they would ask for medical history anyway.

To you women out there who went through the medical test, is there a gynecological exam and what is the doctor looking for (if he told you)? I was reading on this forum that one doctor only wanted to check that the woman was indeed a woman and just took a quick glance.
