OKAY.....so the embassy replies to my email about my fiance's physical and him coming back to pick it up. Well, that will ease my mind a bit. JG -- Thanks.

"Yes, this is a new procedure. The results are placed in a sealed
envelope and given to the applicant to be taken in at the time of the
interview."

Good Deal Lawny good.gif ...so you can go from there! But at least you won't walk in blind and have them tell you some foolishness like...denied b/c you brought your own medical results! You know h JA embassy...henny dyam ting is possible! wacko.gif

Good morning Gill,

As I keep looking at your picture, I keep saying to myself I know you and your boys from somewhere. I live in the DC area, and it seems like I have met you before. Maybe we know some common people. I can't quite put my finger on it. Congratulations on your wedding.

Highly possible...my sister lives in DC...near the new convention center...Mt. Vernon Apartments on M st. She lived in Laurel, MD. before that! We go down about 3-5 times a year to visit! My favorite place to hang out is Arundel Mills Mall & Chinatown...although I have yet to find a good chinese restaurant there! laughing.gif I like D.C...but she LOVES it!!
She works for a non-profit a few blocks away from where she lives!

hahaha,

congrats Iriecat on his homecomingl

so I take mr jengles out for father's day and he has to quiz the waiter on the fish, to make sure it's a whole-a fish. He is very picky when it comes to food, the two of us went out friday night and my man got ribs with the barbecue sauce on the side. and of course today he had to tell the waiter he wanted the fish with jamaican pepper. but I love him and today at the restaurant i'm thinking him and my grandmother are the two hardest people to please when it comes to food, my man actually opened his mouth and said how my grandmother was the hardest person he knows to please when it comes to food. I had to tell him about himself.

Kimmy,

did u invite the MIL to the baby shower devil.gif devil.gif

Jengy,

When I read this I HAD to laugh! I took Ken, my Dad and the boys out to dinner last night and it took Ken 30 minutes to order the dyam fish. Every fish pon the menu he asked ..."Ah deh whole fish yuh ave...or deh likkle fancy fancy filet piece piece dem?" He finally decided on flounder stuffed with crabmeat. Mi seh deh man tek an HOUR feh eat 1 piece of deh dyam ting!! "Gill, hit jus doan feel right eating fish without tail and head!!" Then he finally tastes it and is like ..."Bwoy onnuh freshwater fish different from our sea fish!" I was finally like "Yuh waan tuh send hit back han order a steak or chicken?" "Nuh suh, yuh doan knoa seh mi nah eat nuh U.S. beef han mi tiyad ah chicken!"

Suh yuh doan knoa mi arready..."Suh Dhhhharling....Hush hup han nyam yuh fancy fancy fish...suh wi cyan get outta here!" biggrin.gif

I just kept repeating what the pastor emphasized at our wedding..."Love is Patient...Love is Patient...LOVE IS BLOODCLAAT PATIENT!!!!" laughing.gif

What I found out after filing for Ken and KJ is paternal rights in JA do not exist!! Unfortunately, too many BAD wutless Daddies spoiled it for everyone! I mean we had to file KJ's BC TWICE to have them put Ken's name on it!! The only way a JA Birth Certificate is printed with the Dad's name is if you are married at the time of birth!! I mean #######...aren't you setting up a system that will perpetually place primary responsibilty upon the mother by doing that!? no0pb.gif... I just don't get it!

I know you have a great big family and I can just imagine all the food and stuff you will have there. Just sitting here thinking of you and your upcoming wedding. lol

Claire, mi a go to the JP 5mins. $55/can't beat that. Then we're going to this garden to take pictures and go to lunch...then ROOKSING in Miami later on devil.gif . My dress came today and it's beautiful all of $39. It's a short off the shoulder summer dress (cream). I hope I don't look like a DUMPLIN in it. We're planning on having a large wedding in Jamaica in a few years. We'll see it plays out. Since most of his family and friends are in Jamaica. We're both from HUGE families and Jamaica will be the only place we can afford to have a large wedding. My aunts wedding on the 21st of this month has well over 500 guest. But you know Jamaicans, it will be closer to 700 people like my cousin's wedding in May last year.

Sounds like FI MI!!
My dress was $39.99 off Ebay laughing.gif
Shoes were $20 from Loehmans....Actually for my FIRST legal wedding, dress was £10 rofl.gif

Lawny, that sounds PERFECT!!! I actually drove to downtown Manhattan & six different hat stores on L.I., looking for a pillbox hat w/a veil that they had in the 50's for my wedding outfit. Could I find anything and when I did find something it was $75 for a likkle white hat with a pissa mesh!

So, I went to e-bay and found the 'perfect hat', it looked so cute. It fit my head like a crown and had lavender sequins with a veil!! It turned out to be the sellers mothers wedding hat and she was selling it for $5.00!! I had a coupon for free shipping and got myself my pillbox hat!!! Everyone at the wedding was like where did you get that adorable hat? I told them Saks Fifth Ave!!!! laughing.gif laughing.gif

Lawny,
Did the 202# say whether the embassy would accept it from the applicant? Ken also didn't live far from MoBay Hope...but he had it mailed...cause he didn't want to hear any foolishness about tampering. Gurl, these crazy details will drive you mad...cause the embassy is so darn specific. Just double check to make sure. Oh, Gill.....you look so beautiful and happy. Congrats!

Tre.....remember what we talked about? Can you tell me who was bothering you? I got contacted today too.

Hi everyone....I'm at lunch in my conference right now. First time I checked the net since Sunday. God, I missed it. Missed you guys too. Tre is BEAUTIFUL and funny as hell. I loved her before and I adore her now. We had such fun. Wish it had been longer. We thought about doing dinner another day; but touring the city to keep Andre entertained has exhausted us. Next trip, I will definately be hooking up with her again. She's just so wonderful. You all need to meet her.

I have a picture to post when I get back. And, I made sure to take a picture of her eyelashes.....thankfully, they have all grown back.

Tre....after we saw you, we walked all over the dang place. We saw the Air & Space, National Geographic, and Natural History Museums this time. We went to Chinatown. And of course had to take a picture of the White House & Washington Monument again. I was nearly dead by the time we got back to the hotel yesterday. Wonder what Andre has planned for tonight.

I'm out again. See you all in a few days.

Glad that you and Lawny got to link up!

Did you get a chance to see the Rastafari exhibit in the Natural history Museum? That was hot! My boys loved the Air and space one too! I LOVE DC!! So much to do and it's FREE!!! We are going back down at the end of the month b/c my sister is taking my boys to FL. for 2 weeks and they are leaving from DCA! Plus it's West Indian Carnival the weekend we come down so Ken is looking forward to that!!

Hey Guys,

First of All Sunny, darling...CONGRATS!!! You are ON your way!! Lawny, Baby Girl, I am so very sorry for your loss! As always you and your family are in my prayers for peace and healing at this time!

Well Ya'll the DEED is DONE!!! I am officially Mrs. Young...and from now on will be 'Forever Young'...but the same ole Crazy Gill! laughing.gif

The wedding was BEAUTIFUL considering we threw it togher in like TEN days! Ok...the worst part was the DYAM heat...unfortunately..the East Coast was heat with a Bloodcleat HEATWAVE inna early JUNE!!! Just 2 weeks ago it was 40 degrees...whatever.

We didn't let that spoil our day! I was in tears I said recited my vows...because my heart and soul finally felt at ease and knew..."THIS TIME WAS FOREVER!!"

Ken looked so...dyam GOOD!!!! So did our boys!!! Tghe reception was wonderful one of our friends justed opened a new restaurant that hasn't 'officially' been opened as of yet. SO he let us use it! We had a magnificent chef that's Jamaican by birth, but was culinarily trained in France and London! He is part owner, of the Restaurant...the food was OFF THE HOOK!!!!!

It was very small only 35 of our family and friends...we had no DJ, no mic...but it was so geniune! The speeches moved me to tears...everyone saying how happy they were for us and how proud they were of me for taking a chance on love again!

It was great. Ken and I forgot to bring our camera...thank G-d my friend sent some to me this morning... I wanted to at least post one or 2 pictures...b/c I promised!

Love you all,

Gill

I am driving EVERYONE crazy looking for lavender ish! laughing.gif My youngest son, Gavin brought a home a lavender BASEBALL yesterday and was like we can use it in the wedding??? blink.gif laughing.gif

I really wish BO/HC would run as Pres/VP.

UGH!! I hope not! I really don't trust her. I dont' think many BO voters do. It will take alot for her to prove herself if this happens IMO.

HC has alot to bring to the plate...but she also brings Bill! And unfortunately after her campaign he has gone from number 1 President in my book to just another user! Not to mention...I think it is REALLY pushing the boundaries of what most American will accept...it's sad to say that many Americans can deal with a Black Pres or a woman Pres...but not both! I mean look at WV and KY!! That to me was VERY scary!! But, Hil brings so much to the table...latinos and women...it's hard not to really consider her. I personally like John Edwards...but then again...I don't know if he would even want VP again? Richardson would be good, but then again you have 2 frists!!! It's gonna be interesting seeing how it plays out!

Goodevening Ladies,

My thoughts on Obama.

He may be the next President of the United States and he may not. I am undecided as to who I am going to vote for. I'm not saying anyone on here is voting for him because he is black, but I get that impression from alot of people and it could just be the media. But I hope our society looks past the color of skin and look at the person and their issues.

Me and Marla are doing great and they are having a great time. We have had some issues (small arguements) but we look back at them at day's end and laugh about it. Part of the adjusting period I guess.

I am going to apply for an EAD soon so she will able to work. Also, today Marla is looking for a hair dresser and I don't anything about it, so wish her luck. Saturday my brother is going to keep Amoy and we are going to have our 1st date in America. Don't know where were going yet but it is her birthday so I gotta take her somewhere nice. And we get the whole night to ourselves!

Hello Jason,

Glad to here all is well with you and Marla. I word of advice about the Hairdresser thing...wherever she goes makes sure that she has time to sit in the shop for awhile and check out how the hair dressers curl, cut and wash other clients hair before just jumping into a chair.

I definitely need to clarify something to you. First of all I am NOT voting for Obama because he is Black! I was a straight Hillary Chick up until the end of January!! I mean I voted for her twice to be my senator...I had nothing against her...I actually was voting for whichever democrat had the best chance to get into the White House come November!

I didn't even take Obama seriously until I heard the speech he gave after his win in South Carolina and started doing some research. I, for one am DOG tired of the Status Quo and I thought what he was saying about 'Change' and 'Bridging' divides made and makes a great deal of sense. IMO, the USA needs a clean slate...we are the most hated nation in the world, because of GWB and he's failed policies...not to mention we are in an recession...on the verge of a depression. We need a united America to get us out the mess we are currently in, plus the help of many international nations. I think Obama has the best chance to unite Republicans and Democrats and have the USA be seen again as a diplomatic nation...not just a Waring one!

Whether you want to admit it or not...Tuesday Night was HISTORIC!! Forty years ago we couldn't even sit next to a white person on a bus and in many states we would risk the chance of death if we excerised our right to vote...to now have an African American be the Nominee of a Major party in a mere forty years is astouding and speaks volumes about how far this country has come (although we still have further to go)!

So nope, I'm not voting for any candidate based upon race...but I'm not going to lie and say I am not pleased as hell that a Black Man that came from NOTHING (a single Mom, lower-middle class family, busted his hump to get into Harvard) has a chance to be President for the first time in our history! What it says to the millions of little African-American boys out there is ...'Yes, you can!!!'

So, I hear you about what the media is making it 'seem' like...but for African-American and Blcak people around the world what Obama did on Tuesday night is a HUGE accomplishment! I had 5 relatives from JA. call me on Tuseday night, just so damn excited about what happened and 3 people from the UK... saying the same thing...we never thought we would live to see this day!

Bless-ed,

Gill

offtopic45vn.gif Hey guys, I have been back from Jamaica for a copule of days now but was in kinda of a funk. sad.gif

When I visited Mike in Ja last month, he expressed that he was not sure if he was going back to the embassy this month to turn in his police certificate so he can get his visa. He said that a man his age has to pack up from the way of life he has been used to all his life and move to a new country to start his life all over. I was dumbfounded when I heard this because of all the plans we made and what my expections were. I am at a loss right now.. crying.gif crying.gif

What do you guys think about this?

Clariey,

I'm sorry I missed this one.

Chica, give him space and time. I know you want him here...but he has to WANT to be here too...you know! Try (notice I said TRY) not to push him in one way or the other... be patient...he will come around! I have a good feeling about it! You are in my prayers Chica.

Okay...VENT TIME AGAIN...why are people messing with me this week.

First it was the ***ch mother of the bride at the wedding I was in over the weekend

then; Nissan didn't want to cancel my service contract since I sold my truck (resolved that)...I just went up there with my hair half in braids and half undone. Took all of 20mins to get a check. Most of the time spent verifying paperwork.

now; I go into David's Bridal to try on my $99 wedding dress as I'm waiting for the lady to come back with my dresses this other consultant says to me (I was standing in the sizes for 0-6)...says to me "OH NOOOOOO YOU BIG GIRL...COME THIS WAY...U REALLY BIG GIRL nothing can fit you here"....not that she was lying and I'm sure she met wll, but come on now...the store was packed and she was so damn LOUD. June is a popular month to get married in D.C.

WTH!?!?!?!?!?! Gurl, I'm right there with you! I mean does she not think we look in a mirror in the morning! I'm sorry Chica...I HATE THAT ISH!!!

You'll find something!

I got a copy of the packet three in the mail over the weekend. The mister is going to the post office today to see if he got his copy. I've been reading through it and I just want to verify the next step (because the info on the US Embassy website and the info in the letter are not quite the same) - all my fiance has to do is fill out the DS-230 and return that to the Embassy to get the interview scheduled? Can this be done online? What recommendations does any one have to make this go as smoothly as possible?

The rest seems pretty clear cut about what documents need to be gathered to bring to the interview.

Thanks!

Ms. H;

Request an appt to drop of the DS-230, it's easy. They'll try and convince to mail it in as they did with me, but I told them I'd rather have my fiance drop it off. I requested the appt. for the drop on Monday they gave me the appt for Thursday the same week. Our packet 3 came very early...packet 4 was another thing. I ended up with 3 and my fiance ended up with 2 after I e-mailed the embassy several times telling them I never received it. I guess they got sick of me, but hey...I wanted my questions answered. They emailed me 4 times in 1 hour. If you have any questions, I can honestly say they'll answer it. If they don't, e-mail them again and put in the subject line along with the KINGSTON number 2nd Inquiry, 3rd Inquiry and so on.

Let me tell you about the mail system in Jamaica (you may already know)...It's DAMNNNNNNNN slow. The embassy said the mailed packet 4 on April 18th...we waited and waited and nothing. So, I sent an e-mail. My last e-mail to them was very FIRM and well they mailed in May 5th and my fiance got it May 7th (two days); so, I don't understand how they can mail something from Kingston and you won't get it for 3 weeks. I just don't understand that.

Uh-oh...GO LAWNY!!!! good.gif She's Dead on Ms. H!!! Send them an email and in the subject line put your KNG# /Request appointment date to drop off DS-230. This will help to speed up your interview date...it'll probably be August at this point!

I'm worried that's how our ceremony will be. Mom is not really saying anything bad she just gets real quiet whenever I mention plans. I think she is still hoping and praying that I'm just going through something. NOT

offtopic45vn.gif I was listening to a talk radio show and they were discussing Male and Female roles in a successful romantic relationship.

A Jamaican woman came on and said that the reason our relationships don’t last is because woman try to be equal to the man in the relationship. She said that woman could be respected but never considered equal to a man. She gave examples of what she meant by saying we “women” should never pass gas around a man, never let him know when you have a monthly, or never let him know when you go to “doodie” etc. She said all Jamaican women are taught this and that why their relationships last.

What are your thoughts?

Wakey

Hey Wakey,

I disagree with that woman.

When I was 18 my Mom died of Breast Cancer. In her final years the way my father took care of his wife too this day leaves me with tears. It was nothing for him to bath her...help her use the toilet... shave her legs, underarms and other places he knew she like to keep trim. Honestly, do things that even I as a daughter don't know if I would have felt comfortable doing. It was during that time although I had only rarely seen my parents kiss in public...that I understood the depth of love he had for this woman. To me...that was LOVE.

When I met Ken for good or bad...we agreed to keep 'it' real! Now, I know that saying is very cliche right now...but I honestly have been nothing but honest with Ken from the very beginning of our relationship. He respects it and says how refreshing it is to have a woman speak her mind and be 'human'. However, I am honest but not hurtful...I'll find a nice way to say or do what I have to say...but you can best believe I'm going to say or do it.

I also look at Ken as my equal...I'm no better than him, as he is no better than me! It's not about rying to one-up your partner anyway...it's about finding a level that you can both hold a respected balance and work through this thing called marriage.

Hell, this month I asked Ken to go to the store and pick up some 'Always' fuh me. He started laughing and said "Bwoy Gill yuh different from alota ooman I know!" I asked him if he felt a way picking them up and he said "Ah nuh nuttin dat! Yuh feel henny way when yuh haffi pick hup deh condoms?" Not to mention when I had to curl my hair and he was 'dooding' - He couldn't stop laughing and saying " I've never had hennywan inna deh toilet when mi a sh..." I just looked at him and laughed and say welcome to our life!" He gave me a pound(BEFORE he wiped laughing.gif) and he did his thing and I curled my hair.

It depends upon the man and the relationship...different things work for different people. But for us ...Honesty and openess has been the best policy! Wakey, you and your Boo will find your own happy medium... of that I have no doubt!

Gill
