Question: LT brought to my attention that Ken may not have his AOS completed or AP by November. I am trying to do some AOS planning and I need to figure out where the heck my file will be sent so I can check the timeline. Does anyone know from NY where the AOS would go?

I am crying my heart and eyes out right now. Mike's interview was rescheduled for June because he did not have the second copy of the police certificate. I look and realized that I still have the extra copy. I had emailed the consulate, after Tonya posted and said Drew was asked for his, and was told that it was not necessary for him to have it if it was sent to the NVC wacko.gif

Now when he got there he was turned back. They did not even do the interview and schedule a time for him to drop it off, they rescheduled the whole interview. How can they be so cruel and disheartening? mad.gif

I have to talk to him when he gets home to get the full story.

Learn from my experience all who have their interviews coming up. Make sure you have the second copy of the police certificate with you. good.gif

In a nutshell, Gill, there is much to do right now. Ken needs your help at the moment to figure out how to navigate all he needs to in the US. Eventually, he will be much more independent. THIS IS SO TRUE...It took me MANY, MANY years to get there, but I did. Now, only if I could run up the steps live Sylvester Stalone did in Rocky without running out of breath.

Last night, he mowed, he trimmed (with his shorts down around his ankles cause he was getting hit in the legs with stuff!), we had to go buy mulch and flowers, he weeded...........he was out there for hours. While I was crabbing about having to leave the house to go buy mulch for a yard that isn't even ours, he was sweet talking me about plying me with Cold Stone Ice Cream if I went with him. I'm sorry; but you just can't argue with ice cream!

Ok Guys,

I have discovered a new challenge since Ken's arrival and I am hoping for some advice from ya'll!

The word of the day is ...'BALANCE". I find that I am having a real struggle balancing everything...but especially myself! Like I see that I am not doing what I used to for myself...exercising, bi-weekly pedicure, eyebrows, hair...ok yes part is b/c of the current financial strain but walking is free. Plus Ken gave me $$ last week to treat myself to a pedi or hairdresser!

Between Ken, the kids, the 2 jobs and life...trying to squeeze in time for me is tough! So those who have gone before...how did you manage to find that balance b/t making time for everyone and everything...and YOURSELF!!

Look, I am not crazy about putting my business out there but again...if it can help others learn and some not feel alone in this particular struggle then a little embarassment on my end is worth it!

things are slowly going back together....it itches like CRAZY....that really bothers me....oh well...and because all my labor was in my back i have been having muscle spasms in my back and that really stinks cause they come at any time...so slowly but surely it's all coming together...

That you are as active as you are in my mind ... is a blessing!! A C-Section is no JOKE!!! I once read an article that state on average it takes a woman's body a year to completely heal from that procedure. So Chica...please DON'T PUSH IT!!!

I am so happy that he can feel somewhat independent again...the extra $$ is going to be nice...but Ken is the type of guy that HAS to feel like he is contributing to society. He LOVES work (G-d bless him)!! He can't have not one non-productive day! no0pb.gif I know the 'not-working' was starting to get to him. But, what drives me NUTS is that he didn't see how much my life had improved since his arrival. He did the laundry, cooked, took the kids to school, picked them up, coached soccer, spent time with my sons...all of that means SO much to me, not just a paycheck! But whatever!

Next step is the learner's permit, probably in a few week...then driver's license to give him even more independence!

He gave his resume & letters of recommendation! Then he started pointing out things to her and how he could fix it or make it better... she was like..."YOU'RE HIRED!!! Come back tomorrow at 9AM!!!" wink.gif

Plus because he is legal she started him off at a DYAM good rate and told him she will increase it if he saves her $$ on hiring outside people to fix things!! She also told him if he does a good job she will continue to allow him to work there until he gets his green card!! biggrin.gif THANK GOD!!! GOD IS GOOD!!! So I dropped him off this morning! He was so excited...I almost felt like I was dropping off one of my kids at school for the first time!

Gill, that is such great news!!! Is it at Nakisaki in LI? I just loved to go to that restaurant when I lived in NYC. The ambience in awesome. I was not too impressed with the one in Queens, so I had to take the jaunt to LI to enjoy the great food and atmosphere. The club is also off the chain and I love it too. good.gif

Yup...the very same! I guess there aren't too many Chinese-Jamaican Restaurants huh? laughing.gif He's at the one on Long Island about 5 minutes from where I work and right next door to Sam's Caribbean Market (he's in heaven)! I don't care for the one in Queens either!

Yeah...the club is still on and poppin...Richie Spice is coming in a few weeks, hopefully he can get us discounted tkts. to that!

Unfortunately, they didn't put money back into the place so it is a little run down now..hence how Ken's position became available!

The new owner is Chinese and he said he isn't hiring NONE of the current Management staff...when it re-opens in 2009!
I told Ken that too...probably the RIU. Not to mention the same guy owns the Sunset Beach in Freeport...so he wants to make dyam sure there is no spilt in profits for the summertime cause he just renovated the Sunset last year! no0pb.gif

kicking.gif kicking.gif Ken got a job! kicking.gif kicking.gif He is going to be working at a Jamaican/Chinese Restaurant/Night Club! Doing what he does...being a Jack of all trades!!! biggrin.gif My Dad knows the owner and told him to bring Ken down last night for an 11:00pm interview blink.gif ...I was like pure foolishness that! But, Ken came back like... biggrin.gif . He said "Baby Gurl, mi mash hup deh hinterview! Mi tell deh ooman nuf tings mi see fuh fix and clean up inna dis place!" He gave his resume & letters of recommendation! Then he started pointing out things to her and how he could fix it or make it better... she was like..."YOU'RE HIRED!!! Come back tomorrow at 9AM!!!" wink.gif

Plus because he is legal she started him off at a DYAM good rate and told him she will increase it if he saves her $$ on hiring outside people to fix things!! She also told him if he does a good job she will continue to allow him to work there until he gets his green card!! biggrin.gif THANK GOD!!! GOD IS GOOD!!! So I dropped him off this morning! He was so excited...I almost felt like I was dropping off one of my kids at school for the first time!

WOW...I must have missed this yesterday with all my ranting!! Is this guy for real??? Which part of a long black ####### is the media's character assassination of Barack!!! Or pictures of Michelle with the Girls and the title "Nappy Headed-Ho's"...I mean I am all for freedom of expression...but to me
that's more racism than art...but heey maybe I'm missing something.

But, seriously can I tell you... that is my worst fear. Especially a few weeks ago when the media was comparing Barack to RFK! They have so many things in common...I just pray everyday that being assasinated is not one of them! innocent.gif I hate to say it but it's almost like EVERYTIME America has a person that can unite her people and bring all Americans together (regardless of race, class, religion) for one common purpose and cause...something happens to them!

OK, I have to vent! Ken just calls me and says some random fellow he works with saw our wedding picture and loved my outfit and now wants to know if I can take his fiancee shopping for a wedding dress b/c David's Bridal is too expensive han dem pon ah budget! Then my Husband puts the man on the phone. He tells me his fiancee is a size 18 and is having trouble finding anything 'reasonable'!

I tell him about a wholesale Dressy dresses outlet about 20 minutes from where he and Ken work...Homeboy then says ..."Yuh knoa wat...I haffi wuk pon Saturday...but I will tell har fi tek deh bus han come here afta she finish wuk at noon han yuh cyaan meet har here han tek har tuh deh place." blink.gif blink.gif WTBumbarasclaatFhockery is dis! OK, AM I WRONG? I don't know this man or his fiancee from a blinking whole in the wall! Not to mention, what exactly am I suppose to do with the boys!
