Canada	Ideas on what to do next?	Social Security can't or won't even tell you if a card has been issued? First time he was there they made a typo. They wrote "th" as his street (we are on "4th") they blaim him for the typo, and they won't help him, give him any info as to whether they did or did not mail one, and I called the 800# for them, they said "he has to go to office that made the typo, we can't correct it" So that was a lot of help (not!). He was able to finally wrangle the # out of them (printout) but that was about it. 3 times there and each time he comes home very angry (not ez to get this guy angry either). I am thinking maybe he goes to another city? and tries there? Cuz our local one is not caring, and not helping. Potentially DUMB question. Regarding his CR-1, the original letter came from Texas Ctr, and that is where we mailed the passport copy; Will going to our Local Infopass (Laguna Niguel) work? K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	NOA1 QUestion	Hey Namma, there seems to be something going on with the chicago petitions, the case status online is showing "no such case" for me and I found another person on another immigration board who had the same thing. I got my NOA 1/31 and check everyday online and by phone and they say no such case. Also, the back of my check has a different receipt number stamped on it. K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Is it worth it to hire an agent/immigration lawyer??	Is it worth the expense of hiring an agent or immigration lawyer for the entire K3 application process (including I-130, I-129F and final stages with I-134/I-864)? You will get many opinions, but mine is, if it is a basic case it is NOT worth the expense. Learn the process here, also there is a book by Nolo Fiance & Marriage Visas (I read this cover to cover I bought it used for about $20). If you have complications with your case, then it may be worth having a lawyer. I have read about people hiring a lawyer and having the lawyer screw things up. I preferred knowing that it was in my hands to screw things up!! I would imagine it can help speed things up a tiny bit because an expert will help you fill everything out correctly (and therefore avoid delays due to mistakes). But aside from that, are there any other benefits? Again, I've read that an Expert fudged the paperwork. My husband and I have been investigating the process thoroughly and reading all the forms. It looks reasonably easy to do the I-130 and I-129F on our own. Only the last packet looks more difficult. it's just a lot of filling in forms, checking them 5,000 times, posting questions here and sitting around trying to be patient while you wait for response. K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Anyone having difficulty tracking their I-129f?	We got NOA1 on February 3rd, with a receipt date of January 31, but we can't pull up our information. Customer service desk is also unable to see it. Only the caseworkers are able to see it and say that everything is ok. Anybody else had this problem? see my post here case # not showing up I have found several people online who have their NOA in the last few weeks and are not showing up either online or if you call in either. Seems really weird to me that you wouldn't at least be in the system when you phone the 800 #. I am trying to be patient, but I have a pit in my stomach because they stamped a diff number on my check and neither #s are coming up. K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Anyone going through Montreal??	I think you need to have an address in B.C. or Alberta to do it. But i'm not positive on that. I can't remember who, but there is someone on the VJ board who got it transferred to vancouver without having an address over that way, but they also wrote Vancouver on their app for consulate. When they got their case # it was a vancouver number but it was heading to montreal. They were able to get it transferred with a phone call as well. K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Question regarding Form G325A	Wow this site is awesome, i just recently joined and i have learned so much about the immigration process. WEll job done. I had a quick question. I am taking the K3 route, and i just applied for my I-130. On my bio form(G325A), under employment i gave the name and address of the DBA of our company instead of the corporate name and address. NOw my question is do i need to fix this name and address, or should i give the same address on bio form that i will sedn with my I-129F after i receive the NOA1 for I-130. thanks a bunch in advance I don't think they'll be too worried if you put the DBA, but I would definitely use the exact same thing for the I129f data so it is consistent. I got married 6 days after I arrived in Sweden, though that was cutting it close for getting the license to be married. My husband was able to get our marriage license with my birth certificate and me not present, but that was canada. I landed at 10 a.m. and was married at 6 p.m. the same day. I'm worried that this could be an error since the processing dates say the are working on Aug 5 and that was just updated on the 8th. I then called the automated system and the approval is stated there too as well as when I look my case up on the site... What are the odds that this is an error or is God just truely showing us favor now with all these blessings we are recieving? I am afraid to get excited about it because I recall reading about someone getting an approval in error some time back. Does that mean I can mail my husband's app in before he even enters the US? ie, he gets his k3, he stays in canada works a bit longer, while the ead processing is taking place? K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	K3 visa in hand, now a bit confused on everything else	He said if you go apply in person, you get an EAD in 1 day. He said do not mail it, go directly to the office. Once you have your EAD you just mail in an application for you SSN and it should come in 3 weeks. Hope that helps and congrats on visa approval! K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	mad at Bank of America - RANT	its the fact that they can't do anything themselves at the damn bank, ANY correspondence has to come from headquarters. I used to bank with B of A. I went to the ATM, took out $80 got to my car, I had $60 in my hand. I went into the branch and said, "hi, my receipt says I got 80, but the machine gave me $60" They said they'd have to investigate. Wouldn't you think at the end of the day the ATM would be off by $20 and that would conclude the investigation? No, it had to go thru headquarters and it took me almost 2 months to get my $20 back, and I finally received a letter telling me that their thorough investigation had concluded that I was correct! I've had to fill in everything by hand because we can't seem to fit everything within the space provided when we type it. I believe this is only possible if you have the actual Adobe 7.0 Acrobat software with all the bells and whistles. I have found two references on VJ that said you had to mail a copy of your marriage certificate WITH the W7, the passport copy. Is this true? I cannot find anywhere in the instructions on IRS.gov saying you have to send in your marriage certificate. I wouldn't normally care, but my husband has the certificate in canada and I want to mail this puppy off pronto without waiting for Canada Post to get the marriage cert. I have approximately 400 photos. I used photo sheets, and did not put photos back to back, so that when they flip the photo sheet over, they can read the back where I wrote 'photo of USC and spouse on XXX, 2005 at XXX place" I don't know if you have to submit 400 photos though!
