US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAny UK filers- what did the embassy request from you?
Thank you so much for all that info!

I noticed on the site about the support form it says this 'Once the form is affirmed, it should be mailed to the same USCIS office where the application was filed' - I was under the impression that the forms should be sent to ME and I take them to the interview, why would they be sent to Vermont??

I got my NOA2 and am now waiting on the packet from the Embassy- Im only here in London for 2 weeks before traipsing off on a holiday to see my babe, so wondering what I can get started on that they will request from me.

Is the police clearance valid if I get it now?

And the affidavit of support- does anyone have a link to the forms so I can print off the proper ones and start my fiance and his co-sponsor on filling them in/getting them notarized so I have them ASAP - when my fiance called the USCIS earlier they told him to just wait for the checklist as different embassies require different support forms and supporting evidence - but if you have recently received a packet from the London embassy please let me know what was in it!

Thanks smile.gif

actually regarding the evidence for the I-134 - I assume my finacee and her dad (who is the co-sponsor) will both need to gather evidence? how much evidence do most people supply? I know I've gone over board on evidence of our relationship, but I dont really want to nag the future father-in-law for pay stubs and letters of employment for more than I have too!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffadavit of support for London Embassy
Hi folks

After a surprisingly super quick NOA2 I'm now trying to get my head around what sort of information I need for the next step of the process. It all looks relatively simple apart from the bloomin Affadavit of Support thing. My fiancee doesnt earn enough to 'support' me (like she'd let me sit around and not get a job anyway!) so her dad is going to be the co-sponsor. Does that mean that he'll need to get pay stubs, bank information, declaration of funds, letter from employer etc. and send them over to me? (If so then thats going to be kind of embarrasing, finding out how much he earns and how much he has saved!)

Finally I see theres 2 different types of forms that could be requested by the embassey - the I-134 and the I-864. Does anyone know which will be required by the London embassey?

Thanks in advance for your help,
James

Hi folks

I'm just filling in the forms for my package 3, and as London need you to fill in the DS-156 online to get a barcode, tried to do so. However I can't seem to get their website to work at all. Not sure if its just me or just today, but I keep getting the 'this page cannot be displayed' message. Any ideas why this is? Should I just download the non-online DS-156 from this site? Any help would be much appreciated as I want to get this sorted by tomorrow evening latest.

Cheers - I know Im getting impatient. i guess its because I work on a government helpdesk and we manage to reply to emails within a few days. It boggles my mind how it can take them 9 days (so far) just to write a few sentences.

Oh and just to confirm with anyone who has had their interview recently - you do need to pay in advance right? I haven't got a slip yet so was wondering if worst comes to the worst, if I can just pay on the day?

Ok - this is starting to get a bit ridiculous. I've still not had a reply to my first email sent on the 3rd. I sent a chaseup email on the 7th my case number in the title, and still nothing. I've since spoken to the helpdesk and they advised me to put some code in the title of the email and resend it and I should get a response straight away, so I did yesterday. Ive still not had a reply to any of the 3 emails I've sent, and have no idea if I'm even sending them to the correct place!
Im just getting annoyed as my interview is/was/may be in 3 weeks time! Has anyone any ideas how to get a response from the embassy one way or the other? A different email address to the 'londonconsular@state.gov', maybe?
Thanks for your help so far guys,

Cheers guys - i still haven't had a reply from the embassy so tried to give them a call. I got through to the helpdesk in Scotland where the gentleman on the other end of the phone really didnt seem to know if I would be able to change the date of my interview. He then said it was probably best to not even ask as this could delay my application and I might end up getting an interview date 2 months later! Well Im so glad I called and paid £1.20 a minute for such useful and positvie advice!

Think I'll send another email tonight (this time with my case number in the title) chasing up my last email, especially since Milimelo recieved a reply so quick! It would just be nice to know one way or the other so i can solidfy plans for my last New Years in the UK.

By the way does anyone have a phone number that actually gets through to the London embassy rather than Scotland?!

I sent an email to the embassy last night and got the below automated response. As far I can tell its basically telling me that I should call them on the super expensive number, as i was not expressly invited to send them an email! Or do you think I should just wait a few days and see if they reply? I just don't want to leave it any longer than neccesary, but equally don't want to spend £1.20 a minute calling them! does anyone have an alternative email address to the standard embassy one, that perhaps deals with just the interview process?

I got package 4 from the enbassy and they've given me the interview date of Jan 2nd. Thr trouble is Im away until the 4th - I could just not go on holiday but I'd rather try and change the date to a week later! Has anyone changed their interview date before, especially with London? Is it easy? It said in the package that I need to send a letter to change the date, but surely an email would be ok, wouldn't it?

Also my package 4 was incomplete - there wasnt any payment slip in it. In fact there was only a letter and a map in it! Does anyone know if I can download the payment slip?

Thanks in advance,

Hi there

Has anyone recently had an interview at the embassy in London? I didn't recieve a payment slip in my package 4, and seeing as it is nigh on impossible to actually contact the embassy, was wondering if you could pay for the visa on the day of the interview? Or do you need to have a payed prior to that? Im getting conflicting information from the helpline and the internet, so any clarification would be much appreciated.

Hi folks,

I've got my interview with the London embassy this wednesday and just wanted to confirm that I have everything I need. I can just see me getting there after all these months of paperwork, only to be sent home for having forgotten a form or something!

So far I have:

Interview letter
Passport
Birth certificate
Police record check (for UK and other countries)
2 colour photos
Evidence of support (which includes forms filled out by fiancee, and my co-sponsor and evidence of his earnings)
I-129F packet (which includes evidence of relationship)
I-797 NOA approval notice
Duplicate packet 3

Is that everything? And can someone please specify whay needs photocopying and what doesnt out of this lot?!
Luckily my fiancee will be attending the interview with me so that should make things a little easier, but still, better to be safe....

Thanks in advance,
James

So the good news is that I have a date for an interview at The Embassy.
The bad news is that they want me to bring along an I-864.

I swear this is the first time I have ever heard of this form. Plus if this is all I need to bring as my Affadavit of Support have I wasted my time collecting my financial documents, letters from the bank and an estate agent. I now have 10 day to get my Fiancee to fill one of these out, gather some info and get it back to me ASAP!

Hmm, not really a question here as such, just a minor rant!

When we filed for the I-129F my American Fiancee filled out the I-134 forms with letters from banks / employers / parents etc. The I-129F was successful.

I now have all my info ready for the K1 interview and have the copies of her I-134 forms. Do I need to get originals again or is it a case that when we filed the American papers all of that info stays on my file and doesn't have to be filled out again?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Quick Question..
Good Morning Vjers.

Trust all is well. Well rumour has it our NOA2 should be out anyday now! so time for the I-134 form..

We have a cosponsor..As Dakotah dosen't earn enough money PA (poor poor shopgirl, but i still love her!)

1) Question 8. Am i wholly or partially dependant on either Dakotah or my co sponsor? i mean i will obviously be working and taking savings with me (and fingers crossed getting working stamp at POE) however does this need to be ticked? i'm not unable to work, so wont be a burden on anyone..i really dont understand this question..What should they put?

2) Question 11. Specific contirbutions..does this go hand in hand with the other question? again we are not sure about this one, i am staying at dakotahs..so does she say yes? and my cosponsor say no??

gah..these forms dont get easier.

now before everyone gets mad for me not searching..i did. Slightly frustrating as it kept informing me i was searching for a virus.

anyways, much love.

Rusty.

Hi Rusty,

You do not have to send back any documents. Only the forms and the checklist!!!! Documents will be for interview stage

Well thanks for that, thats bizzare why they have that text on the bottom of the form! i have been getting so worked up and even delayed my submission. Thanks for your response. However just realised you said checklist, i thought kept that till i had a confirmed interview then sent it off? please confirm good sir

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 - very confusing.
Morning Guys,

Rusty again here, had my packet 3 through last week. Have spent like 3 days filling out the very tedious forms :S now anyone who has had the forms through knows that at the top its show the procedures.

1) complete and send off forms below (DS-156/157 etc)
2) collect all information (police cert/birth certificate etc)
3) Arrange medical
4) send back packet to embassy to arrange interview

right... so i filled in all the forms and have just realised that (either DS-156 or DS-157, dont have to hand) require the inclusion of police cert/birth cert/financial support to be included with it. Am i reading this wrong and do i just send off the form and ignore the text at the bottom or do i now have to wait till i get all that information for step 2 before i can send off? it is rather contradicting and as you know from my previous posts i get confused easily!

i hope that spam made sense, i hope someone can answer my question and i dont have to wait in a que calling them again.

Kind Regards

Rusty.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionk1 FORMS - PACK 3 STAGE
Please Help

I havent received pack 3 (postal issue) however dont want to wait when i can get all forms online.

I have sent back DS230 & DS2001 already

Can someone please clarify if the following forms are required to be either sent or taken to interview
DS156
DS156k
DS157

Are there any other forms that I should be aware of?

Without pack 3 I am a little blind however have employment waiting for me which wont last forever so time is fairly important and I dont want to risk any delays especially for administrative reasons.

If anyone has a soft copy of the pack 3 instructions or a link to them I would be eternally grateful

I do have one final question though.
I changed addresses between approval and file being sent to Embassy so I have never actually received packet 3 however printed off the DS forms myself and sent them through in any event.

I believe this contains information on how to go about booking medical and a medical questionaire

Would anyone happen to have copies of or links to this information as this seems to be the only thing that i have lost out on by not having received packet 3

Once again thank you.

First Mistake – Not appointing an Immigration Attorney!

Hi all, any guidance on below questions would be really appreciated, there’s a lot of contradictory information out there.

DS230 (I & II) and DS2001 posted off yesterday 18JAN07

Questions pertaining to this being:

1. I did not include Xerox of biometric page of passport. Is this required?
2. What are current ‘realistic’ time-scales for interview to be scheduled?
3. Is an I-384 required for the interview – I see a lot of conflicting reports on this
4. Is a full copy of I129F petition required for the interview – same point as above
5. What personal checks are done relating to the DS230 submission – I have never been convicted of a crime or anything
6. What is the % likelihood of their being a problem at this stage i.e. is getting USCIS approval the big one or is it still uncertain as to approval being granted

Very grateful for any help from anyone

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 4 received
I think I might be running a record for I-797 (17 Dec) thru receipt of packet 4 (31 Jan)

Very very excited indeed although it does leave me with two questions so if anyone has any guidance that would be great

If I have a date does that mean paperwork, searches etc at this end has been approved and it is now just down to the interview or do they contunue to process application whilst interview appointment is pending?

What is the likelihood of anything going wrong at this stage?

Oh and one final question, is it worth badgering the embassy helpline to see if it is possible to get a cancellation from somebody else and get the interview done slightly sooner?

i have medicals done, police report, affidavit of support and everything else ready so no issues there

I dont have anything to hide or a bad background or anything like that but as soon as you see the finish line you start to get paranoid about falling over

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon - Visa issuing time-scales after interview
Hi there,

Finally having reached the final hurdle stress doesn’t seem to be dissipating.

I have a visa interview in London in a couple of weeks on a Monday. Does anyone have any guidance on how long it would take from then to get the visa (K1) in my hand assuming no problems?

I am thinking at the moment that I should be maybe booking flights for Friday of the same week although is this long enough?

Embassy, as expected, states not to make any travel plans until after you receive your visa however, as I am sure most people do, I am arranging interviews, weddings etc in advance.

If anyone has any recent experience we would be eternally grateful.

Thanks and good luck to everyone

This is all really helpful and many thanks

I have gone ahead and booked flights for the friday although have paid extra for fully flexible and added flight data onto the DS forms in the hope this helps.

I cant help but wonder though - If I have interview date does this mean everything is green now assuming i dont ####### interview which i wont as we genuinly met through work etc

Are they still doing their investigations at this point? Whats the likelihood of something going wrong at this stage. I am kind of getting the 'in sight of the finish line' nerves at the moment.

I feel total relief for getting to this stage although stress levels arent going down which is a bummer

good luck all
