US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat happens after NOA2??
You can book your medical with Knightbridge Doctors as soon as you have your LND case number

The will send packet 3 to you with the details of the forms that you have to complete they do not send you the forms you have to download them

they consist of DS230 Part 1 only need to fill in pages 1 and 2, DS-156 in duplicate but do not sign, DS-156K and DS157 for males aged 16-45, all these forms can be sent back, you can send the check list back later when you have all the other paperwork they have requested from you and the information from the USC

hope that helps

You should check on the Embassy's site to double check, but they should not deny you entry as you are an American, but I would check you never know

My fiance sent the new form for the police certificate....sent it on the 23rd, woman called on the 26th regarding a question she had on one of the answers he had. end of that. check now finally clears on the 5th. still no cert.

the new cert. says that its only supposed to take 10 days now.....

how long did you wait for it for the UK???

mine took a little over 2 weeks (I think the 10 days is 10 working days) from when they received it.

they are quite slow in the uk...really dont have that fast paced worth ethic like america. (no offense).
its been 17 days now....10 working days went by on friday. so he def. should have received it today but nothing sad.gif

sadly, it looks like the package i sent to him on the 4th will get to him sooner then this silly certificate

mine came in under 10 days

Your comment does make me giggle the " uk..really dont have that fast paced worth ethic like america. (no offense)."

Isn't the USCIS american............would not say that they were particularly quick with processing my visa rofl.gif

give them a call, I called them to check something before sending and they were really helpfull and it does not cost £1.20 a minute like the US embassy over here

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnyone used the newest I-134?
QUOTE (Dave_n_Genna @ Feb 5 2009, 08:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiancee has her interview on march 6th, and I sent the new I-134 w/ her to use. I asked the same questions here about it, and I felt pretty assured from others that its fine to use. Its more strongly worded because its more of a sworn statement by you that you will under oath support the beneficiary.

Hope that helps, I just woke up so my clarity may be suffering.

I have my interview on March 6th as well!!!!!!!!!

I am taking both versions with me, as the original notarised one my other half made a slight error on, so I am now in the process of waiting for him to send me the new one, so I will have both bases covered, could not beleive it when I checked the original and he spelt my middle name wrong, I would have thumped him if we were together, sometimes distance is a good thing haha well for him anyway

I will give them another call on Wednesday works out cheaper to call the states than the embassy go figure so hopefully I will hear about my interview soon

I have to leave this little chat now because I am no longer between NOA2 and interview!!! My interview was fine and I was in and out of the Embassy pretty quick, so now just waiting for the visa delivery. Yay!! I will try and post a review of my interview soon but it keeps telling me I must be registered first, which quite clearly I am! Will keep trying. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting for interview and safe travels.

you can contact DOS and see if the embassy as received it...also there's the DHL trick, which can give you an approx idea if the embassy has received it.

On another note, Sarah received her Packet 4 yesterday, so just waiting for the interview on 1/13/09!

Good luck with the interview

I have not got my packet 3, got my medical on the 19th and waiting for my police report to arrive, I will send back packet 3 on the 5th Jan when I get back from Texas as I am going there to spend the holidays with my boy leaving Christmas Eve fingers crossed I have no problems at POE in Dallas

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfrom sending packet 3 to the interview
Dont forget that even though it has been delivered it might not be at the embassy yet as you send it to a PO box which is not clear from the address

I would call DOS at the end of next week, it took them around 10 days to put it on the system, and then I kept calling every couple of days for my interview date, I got it from Dos over a week before receiving packet 4

dont know if you have it but here is the number 202 6631225 then straight away press 1 then zero they will just ask for you LND number and name and will update you on the case

I would think you should get an interview Mid March, but I am no expert, go check some timlines
Stinky MonkeyFemaleUnited Kingdom2009-02-14 15:32:00
US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfrom sending packet 3 to the interview
The date that you put on your check list for leaving in a kind of indication, I sent my packet 3 back at the begining of January and I put leaving April, my intrview is the 6 March. Someone who sent theirs back at the end of Jan got theirs before mine but put their leaving date as March. I think that they do try and schedule the interview wherever possilbe to try and make the leaving date.

I do know what you mean about booking the flight earlier to get a cheaper ticket, but my advise would be to you not to book it till your visa is confirmed, you just never know and in the long run would cost more to get another ticket or pay to reschedule.

Your best bet is to start calling DOS after it has been received at the embassy for around a week and they will update you on the status of the case

I have found the waiting for the interview to be one of the hardest waits during the process

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFreaking Out!
QUOTE (MARM @ Feb 15 2009, 06:01 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Gosh, I know I must be driving everyone nuts already with my frequent posts regarding preparing for the interview, but I am freaking out!
My friends all lovingly diagnosed me with "OCD" according to societal norms since elementary school days, so this kinda gives an idea of where I am coming from... (I don't actually have OCD, but I tend to check and double check everything and freak out wacko.gif headbonk.gif ...)

So these are the questions driving me insane, I appreciate anyone's input please!

1.) My fiance applied for and received his UK police certificate in December (He received it December 18, 2008). It is still valid, correct? ACPO suddenly didn't change something or did they come up with newer ones that the embassy is looking for?

No, it is valid for a year

2.) I-134 and supporting documents include copies of tax returns and W-2s: Does the embassy keep any of these? I know the embassy keeps the original I-134. But what about the supporting documents? Tax returns are like 20 pages each for 2006, 2007, and 2008, should I be making duplicates of all these and duplicates of W-2s/employer letters?

I am just taking copies of hs W2's, I dont have the tax returns, you can make a copy for yourself if you want to, not sure if they keep them, but someone who has had the interview will come along soon and confirm what they keep

3.) Does the embassy need my original divorce decree from my fiance at the time of interview? I am the USC (the divorced one), my fiance (never married) is the one interviewing.

If you want to take a copy then take one you have already sent that the divorce decree with the original petition so they have already verified that you are divorced, otherwise you would have not got this far the petition would have been denied so taking a copy is not necessary

4.) And I have heard that they ask for the USC's passport copy or proof of US Citizenship of the petitioner, a notarized copy of passport or birth certificate, should I worry about this and send my fiance these as well? I don't want to send more documents than he needs because it is a needless hassle and too much paperwork and resulting confusion is the LAST thing we want.

No I am not taking it, just incase they cant find anything and for peace of mind I am taking the copy of the 129 and it is in there

5.) What about the originally filed I-129F? NOA2? Please tell me that the embassy will not ask for the original NOA2, it is not an issue sending it, but the fact that it is something close to impossible to re-obtain if God-forbid it gets lost in the mail or misplaced, it would be added stress for me to send it to my fiance from here. What about a copy of the entire I-129F originally filed? From what I have read in the reviews, it is not mentioned as being asked for at the interview.

Just take the copy of the 129 with you it is not required but take it for peace of mind incase they cant find anything, I am

6.) My understanding is that my fiance needs to take with him exactly what is on the IV-15 Checklist and documents of evidence of meeting/relationship for the interview. Am I right? Or is the embassy going to instruct my fiance on what he needs to take to the interview in addition to the instructions in packet 3?

Take with prrof of ongoing relationship, it seems in the UK that theyont always ask to see it as it is not a high fraud country. The embass is not going to tell you what to bring. Take with proof of meeting if you have met again since filing the petiton, phoe records, e-mails, pics, chances are tha they wont ask to see them but have them incase they do

This is so nerve-wracking!

Now calm down a bit, I know it is stressfull I have my interview in under 3 weeks and now you are making me panic all over again hahahah

hi everyone

I received my packet 3 letter today, atleast i think its the packet 3 letter, it was just one piece of paper with the following website link:

http://london.usemba...a/iv/iv_15.html

so im getting a bit confused at just wanted to clarify what i have to send them?

i send DS-230 Form Part I, Form DS-156, Form DS-157 and Form DS-156-K? do i need to send 2 copies of the last 3 to them? and also do I sign them cause i think i read somewhere that im not supposed to sign the forms when i send them as i need to sign them at the interview?

then this form "IV-15K Form and check list" i send at the same time or seperatly?
i have all the documents required here and ready

thanks alot, im just a bit confused

It tells you exactly what to do in packet 3, and on the forms the ones that you do not sign have do not write below this line and the signiture space is under that so those forms are not signed.

or to make it real easy for you DS156k DO NOT SIGN, DS230 part 1 you can sign this, DS156 in duplicate do not sign, the DS157 is only if you are a male between 16-45
These can be sent back straight away

The check list gets sent back when you have everything on it that is required, i.e the affidavit of support and the police record, so if you have not organised them or dont have them yet, wait till you do or they are on the way before sending the check list back

Is Packet 3 from the London Consulate simply a letter? I was expecting like an actual 'packet'. I have received a letter asking me to assemble documents and visit 2 web links to see which documents I need and to arrange a medical. Is this packet 3? Or is that yet to come?

If you would like more detail or help finding the medical and/or the medical questionnaire and packet 3 required response forms, PM me.

Got packet 3 last week, I have filled in the forms in after having downloaded them and checking the example forms ( though now realise that ive made some small mistakes argghh). Anyway what I want to clarify is exactly what I need to do..

As I read the instructions, its seems I have to send the London embassy.

- One copy of the Ds-230 Part 1 ( signed)
- One copy of the Ds-156 (unsigned but with photos attached) - I made a two copies of the form ( do they both go? or do i retain one)
- One copy of the Ds-156K ( unsigned)
- One copy of the Ds-157

I keep a copy of each of these for myself.. then wait till all my stuff arrives e.g police cerificate, affidavit of support etc and then send in the checklist to say I am ready for the interview.

Thats how I understand it, but have read different accounts of how people completed it on VJ, so just wanted to check.

Thanks In advance

Yours confused.

no the DS156 is in duplicate and is not signed, you send both back, take the photos to the interview do not attach
DS-156K you sign this
DS-157K only to be completed if you are male 16-45 years old

keep copies of everything that you send in, and send back the check list once you have all the other documentation

All of this information is detailed in packet 3 that you received from the embassy

Good luck

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwhat NOT to do at your interview

In your interview DON'T lose your passport at the Consulate, especially when your flight to America is 4 days later, lol.

After all the months of forms & delays, we were so estatic to have the Visa granted ... only to get completely deflated when we learned she no longer possessed a passport. And she couldn't immediately go back to the Consulate, as she jumped onto a train back home right after the interview.

Thankfully, the Consulate found the passport and she got it back less than 24 hours before her flight. It was a nerve-wracking few days though. Thank God for small miracles!

I'll try to remember that next week...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa interview APPROVED!

Thanks again for the replies!

I called the Embassy today and the guy gave me a special email address and code to send an email enquiry. I received an automated response saying that my email had been received and that a response was usually given in 3-4 days. Grrr.

So I guess its just a case of either waiting until my visa arrives or waiting for a response. I'm going to be so annoyed though if I have to go back to the Embassy or if my visa is slowed down by a mistake that they have made. I wish the guy could have just told me on the phone, but we all know what that information line is like.

Anyway I'm going to try and put it out of my mind and just wait for a reply.

Thanks again for all the advice and I'll keep everyone posted on what happens

From what I understand, the 3-4 day reply thing is the outside timescale. I'm pretty sure you will hear back before then. Until then, keep thinking about the approval, and I wish you the very best of luck in getting this sorted out quickly.

When are you hoping to fly?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa interview APPROVED!

Thanks for the replies!

Just one question, is the DS-230 part 2 needed at all after the interview? For example at the point of entry? Otherwise I'm concerned that calling the Embassy will just complicate matters when my visa has already been approved.

I may just wait 3-5 days and if I don't hear anything from the embassy and my visa arrives then I'll just forget it. Hah!

Firstly congratulations on the approval   and good luck.

I don't know if the form is needed again, however, I had my interview in London yesterday as well. I was asked to sign the form at the second window after swearing the oath. At the end of the interview, the CO explained about the MBE and said it contains all the immigration forms. He then said the immigration officer at POE would go through all of the forms before admitting me.

If it was me, for the sake of a few more days wait, I would call the extortion line to double check firstly whether you signed it of not and secondly if you didn't, the quickest way of resolving it.

Good luck, I'm sure it won't be a problem.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionConfusion with Medical appointment and Checklist
When did you apply for your police certificate? You should receive it within 40 days of application and if you are close to that date, you should start chasing to make sure you get it.

TracyTN is right, you need to make sure you have all of the paperwork ready for interview. I had everything in place when I sent my checklist back. It took a couple of weeks for them to process Packet 3, and then I had an interview within a week of packet 4. Given how quick London can be, it is important to make sure you have all the documents. So the key, by the sounds of it is the police certificate.

The other thing is I don't think they really do anything with your paperwork until they receive the checklist, because that is the document that tells them you are ready.

Hope this helps.:D
essjayFemaleUnited Kingdom2007-08-17 09:54:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionConfusion with Medical appointment and Checklist
If you have your case number, you can go ahead and book the medical even without the interview date. Tell them you haven't received the IV18a and they will let you do it on the day of the medical. The form itself is only two sides and just contains the usual questions you would expect.

If you book it now, it is another one you can cross off your list of things to do....
