Before I give my own advice, can you please update your time line, so that other members of this wonderful forum can benefit from your info the way you have also benefitted from our info.
Congrats that you have reached this stage, i know it was not an easy ride for you, but we will like to hear from you.
A lot of us have been waiting ages for an interview date and we have been asking ourselves, are Nigerians not getting interview dates? But here you are from no where with a date.
I am also sure there are others out there with interview dates for august and september, but because their time lines arent updated, their being in this forum does not benefit others.

This goes out to all members of this forum, pls update your time!

Hey Nich and Nick!

I hope you are both fine.

I was looking at your timeline with interest. It took you 5 months to get a green card, but can you work at all before you get one of those? Me and Shawnie's lawyer in Houston said I could be working within a month after our marriage. Is a Green Card a more final kind of thing and you work on a temporary/preliminary arrangement before you get a Green Card?

Just so looking forward to getting out of London and being back 'home' with my Shawnie!

Thanks a lot

Martin

Hi all. Me and my fiancee are going through the K-1 process. Does anyone know how long, on average, it takes to get your interview at the US Embassy, following NOA2 receipt?

Also, I have created a timeline, but cannot work out how to display it in my posts. Help appreciated!

Regards. Martin.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat gets sent with the checklist?
Thanks all! Just re-read over my paperwork and I see where I went wrong. Ambiguity runs riot throughout this whole process.

The visa checklist reads:

'Please do not mail any documents to the embassy. You will be required to furnish all documents on the day of your interview'.

All I sent was the checklist and the IV-15!

That's what I read originally. But, in fact, I DO need to mail documents, well, 'forms' to the embassy! I guess it's easy to mix up the meanings of the words 'forms' and 'documents'. They're just pieces of paper!

Mailed 'forms' today recorded. Embassy will have them by 1pm tomorrow. Wonder if I am still in with a good chance of a december interview?

I have everything now, police cert, affadavit of support, and had my medical. Just need that appointment letter now!

Thank you
Martin

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat gets sent with the checklist?
Hi there. My fiancee the US has just called the US embassy in the US to enquire about my appointment letter for my interview here in the UK, however, they say they received my checklist at the embassy in London, but not the accompanying material. What accompanying material? What did I need to send with the checklist? I thought all my gathered documents were to be taken along by myself to the interview! I may have misread something, or overlooked something. The woman my fiancee didn't seem even too sure about what I had to send, but said something about a 156 or 156K? Glad my fiancee called, else they may have never called to say I have done something wrong!

Thank you!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview date!
Damn. Got a call from the embassy. ALL INTERVIEWS ON January 27th interview are cancelled. I was counting on being able to fly on Wednesday Feb 3rd (in time for my birthday, Feb 4th), and in time for her company party (Feb 6th), so that I could meet lots of her friends and colleagues. Hugely devastated. I am now scheduled for Wednesday Feb 3rd.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview date!
I finally got my letter. Wednesday January 27th is interview day. Me and Shawnie are a little disappointed though, as I was hoping to be back in Houston by February 4th (my birthday!). Do interviews ever get cancelled or rescheduled? Would it be a gamble to book my flight for Feb 2nd or 3rd? Do most people get their visa on the day of the interview, or after in the post?

Anyway, the end of the process is almost in sight!

Thanks all

Martin

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Interview Disaster!
My interview was today at the London embassy at 8am.

My visa has been put on hold temporarily for the following reasons, and this may benefit some of you to know this:

1) My birth certificate does not show my parents names, although it is the original birth certificate (Ok, my mistake on that one!)

2) My fiancee in the US has not supplied me with an I-135 (in support of the affidavit of support, which I DID supply today). Bizarrely, my fiancee read on the embassy or USCIS website that the I-135 DOES NOT have to be provided with 'K' Visas. Their mistake? And nowhere does it say on the US Embassy checklist that this needs to be provided at the interview...

http://london.usemba...iv/docs169.html

3) My passport was not acceptable as the pages are a little frayed from old water damage, although I HAVE been travelling on it! So I am going in to London tomorrow to get a new one straight away for £130! I shall order a fast-track full birth certificate also while I am there.

4) According to the interviewer today, my fiancee did not supply her tax return details for tax year 2008! What? In fact, she had attached those details to the back of her 'Affidavit of Support', although this is pure luck, and I did not know this needed to be provided because YET AGAIN this is not mentioned on the US Embassy interview checklist, so I did not know to question the interviewer and say "Um, yes, it is in fact there!".

So a total disaster, resulting from ambiguous information on the US Embassy website and USCIS websites, as well as my slight error on the birth certificate!

So just be careful. Look at the checklists, take it all in, then try and second guess other stuff that you need to take that they do not tell you about!

My fiancee is fed-ex'ing required paperwork to me. I shall get it in London on friday 5th, by which time I shall have my passport and hopefully my full birth certificate. I hope to courier it the same day and hope to get my visa back sharpish!

Woo, what a day of immense stress and frustration!

My funds are limited (because the visa application has been so slow, I am unemployed, and I need to eat!). I simply cannot afford to call them. Their current system should be scrapped and replaced with a nice, normal, 0207 landline number!

I desperately need to contact the US Embassy, but do not have access to a landline, and from my mobile the £1.20 per minute would probably be double! I need an update on my visa application. I had my interview was on Feb 3rd, there were complications, courier collected extra identification and papers from me on Tuesday Feb 9th. Waiting for return courier with hopefully a visa.

Any email addresses?

Any alternative phone numbers?

Thanks for any help.

This is so frustrating. My sister had to move out of her apartment on tuesday feb 9th, so I am essentially homeless now. I was living with her. I was assuming things would be sorted now with the visa. I am moving around various friend's houses and staying with different people for 2 or 3 nights at a time. Don't want to be a burden! I just hope the courier returns with a visa soon. My fiancee in Houston is being driven crazy by my absence! Bless her!

Oh #######. And now airfares are going up! For the first time in 4 months, the price of a ticket to Houston has shot up (£70). My money is running out and I need to be in Houston! This visa delay is seriously depressing.
munkeynuttsMaleUnited Kingdom2010-02-12 06:54:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa delivery time estimate?
Hi all,

My visa interview was on January 27th, but on the day I discovered that they needed to see a full birth certificate in stead my half cert! Also, according to the interviewing officer, my passport 'was too damaged to have a visa attached to it' (a few of the pages were a bit crinkled on the edges from water damage, although I had been travelling on it!), AND the interviewer indicated that she wanted to see my American fiancee's tax returns from year eneding 2008 (even though it says nothing about that in the interview guidance notes or checklist), AND the interviewer asked for a completed I-134 from my fiancee (even though K visa applicants are not required to furnish this document, according to the interview guidance notes and checklist!).

So, after that farce, I immediately order a new passport, a new birth certificate at a combined cost of £156, and Shawnie Fed-Ex'd her paperwork to me from Houston at a cost of $100.

Courier came and collected items from me on Tuesday 9th Feb. Courier said it can take up to 15 working days to process visa, but originally I was told from interview that it would be 3 to 5 working days. Does it just take even longer now because the interview didn't quite go according to plan? A delay creates even further delay? It just slows down further?

What is the average time for London applicants in my situation to get a visa returned by courier after supplying items to courier to go the embassy?

Thanks a lot everyone!

Martin & Shawnie.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion19 days since my visa interview, and still no visa, or even a response!
Everything about this visa process has seemed insane. US Embassy should respond with a 'denied' letter, or issue me with a visa no longer than 5 working days until after they have everything/I have had my interview. I am literally homeless and couch-surfing. They have had MY passport and birth certificate for two weeks now. I cannot contact them as I have minimal funds to be able to pay the owner of the phone from which I have to call the US Embassy at a cost of £1.20 per minute! The Embassy should invest in a call centre, of which the phone number is a regular landline. They have the funds, they can do this. The embassy should be 'Customer friendly' and 'User friendly'.

Nobody has an answer to this one. I guess me and Shawnie are the most ###### out of luck people on here? The K-1 visa process seems to be a lottery.

They do take a photocopy of your police report. I think the main reason they want to see it is to check if you have any drug charges. Maybe call them and find out if they need all your police reports or just the UK one. Better safe than sorry xx

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon Embassy - time between i-130 processing and receipt of case number?

Hi there, I'm filing DCF in London. Our official i-130 processing date was March 10th. Last week the embassy got up to our date. Now they are up to April 1st and I still haven't received anything in the mail. Any experience on how long it typically takes for the letter with your case number to arrive after they say they are processing your date?

Thanks,
